This was my first time in this location. I found them on the map when I was googling craft supply stores in the area. We were coming from Aerojet way and this was the closest store. It's located behind the Target Shopping Center off of Zinfandel. So conveniently located off the freeway which is so good for people on the go. They are located in a strip mall, with lots of parking. It's a private lot for the entire strip mall. We got a space right up front which was nice. I was wearing heels and I didn't want to walk farther than I needed to. Soon as we walked in we were greeted by a sales associate. We asked where the yarn and needles were and she gave us the isle numbers and pointed us in the right direction. We quickly found the yarn section and there were so many variety. We picked some brown variegated, a small skein. It was the cheapest variety that they sold. We were tying a quilt so didn't need any of the fancy stuff and boy did they sell fancy. All different materials and weights and sizes of skeins. Next we looked for needles and they were exactly at the isle the sales associate told us it would be. We first saw only one variety, the ones for generic sewing. Then we kept looking and found the curved ones for quilting and the straight ones with the big eyes for quilting. We bought a pack of both just to make sure we had the right ones. I didn't want to get one and wish I had gotten the other and then have to trek back. We don't have a Michael's where I live so it would have been a trek. We ended up using the curved ones. I've never used them before and they were magical. So much easier then the straight ones. They did the work for you. Check out was smooth. We were second in line and the guy in front of us was quick. The price was pricy and we didn't use a coupon. I didn't think till now to google their 40% off one item coupon that they always have. Oh well we got what we needed and the project was a success. read more

Not sure about all Michael's but this one is always hit or miss. Sometimes have to walk around to find staff too. Definitely don't recommend coming here for Eva foam. Almost never here. Came here to look. One staff said it's in the back row. It was a messy clearance aisle with boxes and crap everywhere. Another staff said it's probably not in the floor. read more

The customer service was so rude we were almost shaking when we left. Everything was marked up 4 x's what we could of bought on Amazon which was watercolors, standard crochet hooks, yarn. We didn't realize until we got home and wanted to return it but the checker kept our receipt after we gave it back for him to correct something so we had no way of returning. I have honestly always liked this Michael's, until yesterday (monday August 25, 2025). This review comes as a warning to any person of COLOR! Monday afternoon, my son and myself decided to check out Michael's (i hadn't been in awhile). We went in for 'GIFT BAGS' for a party and before we could get INTO the aisle, I hear over the intercom, "cut to cameras on aisle 12," when I looked up, it was the aisle we were about to enter into. At this point, I knew exactly what they were doing. RACIALLY PROFILING, me and my 4 year old son. Mind you, I have NEVER had this issue going to Michael's before. Shame on every Michael's employee that was there that day. So, I advise persons of color to find another Michael's, because this one is LOOKING for people who are thieves! I am not one! Do NOT shop here if you want good customer service. These employees (especially the bigger girl) profile you and are overly rude. Was rushed out the store before I could even step in 5 minutes before they closed. They also already had their doors locked which is ridiculous. Me, my sister and my mother have all been racially profiled in here! They need a whole employee revamp. Was on my way to self checkout when I was stopped by an employee she tried to ring me up at the regular register and when I said I didn't want the rewards she took me to self checkout instead of the regular register and rung my stuff up for me? This place is a bit expensive, but they always do a great job. And great customer service. I think this is my 10th framing that they've done for me, and they always come out perfect and on time. This time it was literally a poster from 1979 that had been rolled up in a closet since the 80s. They were able to flat mount it and get it looking amazing compared to when I brought it in. They assisted with the matching colors and even helped shave a few bucks here and there with some more affordable substitutions. Because believe me - it was expensive! I am disabled and cannot use self checkout. I told the clerk that I cannot use self checkout but she said she would check me out there. She got half way through checking me out and abandoned me to check another person out at the regular checkout. I said I could not do self check out and was ignored. I asked her to come back and help me but she refused. It took me several tries just to get a receipt fighting with the machine. I will never shop at Michaels again. read more

I give this store a 5 for service. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I see them calling for backup early so people don't have to wait in line, and there's almost always someone near by when I need a hand. Vera helped us today and was fantastic. I give the store 3-4 for product availability. Supply chain is still struggling so that's understandable to some extent, but other Michael's stores seem to be better stocked with product. Overall, this is my first stop when I need supplies, and I'll travel further to the larger stores if I can't find what I need here. read more

Oh Michaels, how I wish you were good at this. I want so badly to like you. The thing you are worst at is just delivering the things I buy. Same day delivery - I've never seen my order on the same day. Once you gave it to a neighbor. Once you just didn't show up until late the next day and you didn't seem to notice. Oh and your support. Sweetie, no. You are doing it wrong. Why would I want to talk to a customer? Is it because your support people are the opposite of supportive? Remember the time you "same-day" delivered hundreds of dollars worth of stuff somewhere.... and we never figured out who got it? You didn't even seem interested. I had to go in to the store with an invoice and find all the stuff myself. There's the time you just never even sent the 2 gallons of paint, and begrudgingly sent it again after trying to cancel the order on me several times. 6-week delivery time on that one. You just aren't in a hurry, and you are find not having what we need in stock for months on end. And let me ask - why do your UPS tracking codes literally never work? I have spent so much of my money there, and I can't even really recommend your store. I use you begrudgingly out of necessity. You get a C-, compared to Joanne's D. Hobby Lobby is disqualified due to being terrible people and too far away. I swear, I'm ready to start my own art supply company. read more

My family just loves coming here. And one can be here for hours, browsing through all the items in store. And whatever they have in store also changes with the season, or coming holidays! The staff are helpful. They're a bit hard to find, but once you get one, better chain them to a pole for future use...I jest... The price, I think, is a bit on the pricey side. But I think that's what you get for having items within easy and immediate reach. Plus you can actually see the item and decide whether or not it's the item you want. I recently brought two items to Michael's for framing. Sherman helped me pick out frame styles and matte colors. When he showed me the computer mock-up of them, I was impressed. He said they would be ready in two weeks. - Exactly Two Weeks Later - I get a phone call to let me know my items were ready. I get to the store and Sherman brings them out. I was blown away. They look better than I could have imagined!! I was brought to tears! My late father made these. It's a Japanese needlepoint called Bunka. I wanted to preserve them as a tribute to my dad. Now, I will be able to think of my dad whenever I see these on my wall. Thank you, Michael's for your excellent service and for preserving my father's memories. read more

So this happened yesterday - I'm naming it "The Crazy Michael's Experience." I went in looking for a specific marker to finish a project. I was in my paint splattered paint pants having come straight from my studio. I asked the girl behind the register to have someone come unlock the marker case. I was met by a nice looking young girl. That's when things start going sideways. Immediately she informed me that I was mandated NOT TO TOUCH ANY OF THE MARKERS. She said, "Just point to what you what you want and I'll take it to the register for you. Do not touch anything!" I was confused. I wondered if she was joking. She said, "no, this was company policy." I told her I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I asked why this was the policy. She said, "You might run off with one of these." I assured her that I was an almost 70 year old woman with one leg in a brace and did she honestly think that was going to happen. I couldn't help but giggle. Needless to say I don't have the time or patience to go through this again. I'll need to plan better and do my art supply shopping elsewhere. The End! read more

I have been to this store a few times and find it to be very welcoming. Employees immediately acknowledge you upon entering. Sometimes they ask if you need assistance before you have time to think about what you are in need of. But I like that you can get help right away especially if you are in a hurry. You're probably wondering how often are people in hurry to shop at a crafts store? Usually it's a fun place to browse and get ideas. But I happened to be time restricted on one particular day because I ran out of fondant for a wedding cake. I was directed to the aisle I needed and made the purchase in a matter of minutes. This store is a nice place to shop. Although it seems a little smaller than another Michaels I frequent in Elk Grove, it is fully stocked with everything one could possibly imagine to help the craft oriented person, and that's what counts! read more

I then saw her return the sign back to the clearance rack that said 70% off Christmas. I guess she's not worried about false advertisement. Walked into Michael's to look for some last minute Thanksgiving decorations. I was greeted by a polite staff and ask if I wanted to make a wreath all I had to do was buy a metal frame and they will provide everything else. I love making wreaths so I said why not and I am so glad that I decided to stay and make my wreath at Michael's. The staff were super polite and very helpful they even went out of their way to find everything that I needed for my wreath. I don't usually come to this Michaels but I thought I would check it out since it was about 1 mile away from my work. This Michaels is located in the middle of a large plaza with other well known stores such as Target and Ross. There is plenty of parking in the front of this Michaels. I went inside looking for painting supplies and was quickly greeted by a sales associate. It's a pretty large Michaels with all the typical things you'd see at other stores. The oil paints and canvases are towards the right back side of the store. They had all the items I needed in stock (fine tip paint brushes, canvases on sale buy one get one for a penny, and titanium white oil paint). I had a coupon 40% off any regular price item which I used as well. No lines when I went up to the register and the sales lady rang me up with a pretty sweet personality. She made small talk and made me feel like she actually cared (never get that nowadays) I could totally come back just for the customer service. Awesome store! read more

Usually this Michael's have good customer service but today a woman with short dark hair with glasses at the cashier had major bad attitude and was not a team player. I had a order online and she pointed me to the online orders with bins labeled by alphabetically order by last name. When I couldn't find it and showed her the text message of the order, she said she couldn't see my screen then ask another coworker she needed help. The younger lady helped me locate my order which was in one of the larger lockers. As I was leaving the store, the lady with short black hair said can someone come relieve me so I can go home in front of customers. Wow! Maybe she had a bad day but this woman should not be working at this store if she acts this way daily. Clearly she doesn't want to be there and offloads her work to other coworkers. read more

I have now twice done an online order and it has not been a good experience either time. The first time I get a panicked call from the Manager saying that he accidentally marked my items as picked up. He can't reverse it in their system, and wanted to me to pick up my items that night, instead of the next day like I had planned. So I go in late around 8pm, there is no signage saying online order pickup anywhere. So I stand in line at the register, wait for two shoppers, then get told I have to go back to framing to pick up my order. When I go back to framing, I buzz the button for service wait a few minutes and finally someone pops out to take care of me. I chalk it up to maybe a new system, was my first time as well... Now my second order. This time I walk past three employees at the front of the store standing around and head right back to the framing department. There is one lady helping a customer with a custom frame, another guy waiting, and me. After standing there for around four minutes the employee asks if I'm here for an online order, I say yes. She says she will help me when she is done. Okay so I stand there for another four minutes, she finishes her transaction, and helps the guy in front of me. Now she goes on her headset and asks for help. Another four minutes go by before someone from the front comes to help me. Then the lady makes a rude comment about my ID photo. At this point I'm so frustrated, and the lady helping me then says sorry for the wait. I finally get my items and get to leave the store about 15 minutes after walking in, for what should of been a fast pickup. read more

Very aggressive store - don't go in unless you're okay with being treated like a criminal. If you're not interested in browsing and prefer to get what you need and get out, and you know the store layout, they assume you're stealing and will call loss prevention over the loudspeaker and yell at you as you walk to the cash register. So, I'll be honest, not my favorite location. It is an "older" one compared to the ones nearest to where I live and shop at (and about half the size.) Huge sale, so a lot of stuff was kind of picked over, but they did have a LOT of Easter items remaining. Our mission today was the tape, a lantern, and gift bags. Mission was ACCOMPLISHED. They still had a very good selection of the Washi decorated tape, even though it has been on HUGE sale all week. So, I appreciate that they must have restocked! Here is where they get my THIRD star, the clerk/staff. Nicole was VERY friendly and professional. I appreciated the educator's discount, and that she reminded me I needed a rewards account. I will return, as this is the location closest to my office. I do appreciate that the parking lot ALWAYS has spots, even though it is near some pretty busy stores. Getting IN and out of it is another issue, but plan accordingly! read more

I'm not a hobbyist by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't help but submit to my creative juices when wandering through Michaels. Each aisle presents a new selection of creative inspiration. I was challenged to take my project far beyond its original concept to a place where I never thought it could go. My dilemma? I needed to spruce up a birdhouse my brother built for my mother for her birthday. I walked in the door with the intention of finding some paints for a simple paint job. I left with an armful of various paints, brushes, glue-on accouterments and letters for a sign. Sure, it cost me a pretty penny, but it turned a boring project into a gift to last a lifetime. Added bonus: they are usually not very busy so there are plenty of helpful staff members to wander the aisles with you and help you locate hard-to-find items! read more

I don't know why, but I can't seem to ever have a positive experience with this Michael's store. One day, you can't find anyone on the floor to help answer customer's questions....another day will be moody sales associates who act like they have better things to do....Or they're not doing the Michael's rewards that particular day because their machine/system isn't working (like how?) Some of the workers I've encountered also aren't very careful about checking out purchases....For instance, I purchased a bunch glass-jarred candles, and the associate just stuffed them all in a single bag, until I had to nicely ask her to wrap them individually to prevent breakage (really, did it not cross your mind that heavy glass objects in a single bag will potentially break??). Another ridiculous incident was when I shopped at this store with a friend who decided to buy a restaurant gift card from their stand of gift cards....The sales associates (yes, more than one person) had no clue how to add a certain dollar amount to the card for us....They had to wait for another worker to arrive in order to ask them how to do that...Didn't seem worth it so we told them to forget about it and left. I continue to go to this store for my crafting needs and because it is local, but the customer service here is incredibly disappointing! They need to do some re-training on some of the sales associates. Go to a different Michael's if you can. Otherwise, don't have any good expectations about this place. read more

Do you know want to know the best time to buy Halloween stuff? THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN! Everything is at least 70% off and you can stockpile for the next year. Genius, right? I stopped by Michaels on my lunch break to see if they still had any more Halloween pet costumes (I bought the monkey one for my pug and it turned out adorable). Of course, the store was now filled with Xmas decorations. I tried looking for someone who worked there to point me in the right direction but could not find anyone. The one salesperson that I saw turned her back to me as she was helping another customer so I wandered around in hopes of finding another salesperson or the Halloween stuff. A few minutes later, I found a small section of Halloween decorations but no Halloween costumes. I saw the same salesperson, who had previously turned her back to me, helping out another customer nearby so I went over to see if she could tell me if there were any other places in the store where the costumes might be. When it looked like their interaction was done, I asked this salesperson if this was all the Halloween decorations that the store had and if there would be any pet costumes anywhere else, she (I believe her name was Donna... older woman, short hair, and completely rude) looked at me as if I was an idiot and said, "Of course not, Halloween's over." Duh! Of course, I know Halloween is over. I'm just trying to find a bargain. There was no additional follow up to see if there was anything else that I was looking for. The few times that I've gone to this particular Michaels, I have had great service. This incident makes me want to avoid this store completely. Word of advice, if you're going to shop at this Michaels, you might want to stick with the younger salespeople. They might be more sympathetic that you want to buy Halloween supplies AFTER Halloween! :( read more
