Karan was such a great help. I greatly enjoyed her knowledge of the fabrics! My favorite part is that they only carry natural fabrics like cotton or Muslin. I avoid plastic (polyester/nylon) like the plague!!!! I got a sweet white fabric with little chicks embossed on it. I usually frequent Hobby Lobby or Walmart for fabric but if I have the extra penny I will be going out of my way to start frequenting the cloth carousel now!!!! read more

I brought my moxie in for service. (I managed to dink it up) Paul was awesome. He's does the tech/mech for the machines. He gave me excellent advice and didn't make me feel dumb for dinking up my machine. Everyone in the shop is super helpful, super knowledgeable. They were very accommodating. I had to drive 3 hours each way, but it was worth it. I loved the selection of fabrics, machines, yarns. They also hold classes and have a great following for these classes. So glad to have found this shop. New to the art of quilting I came here to seek answers to a few questions I have to completing unfinished quilts my grandmother left. I wish I would have gotten the woman's name that assisted me. She is very helpful and made me feel welcomed in the store. This store has everything imaginable for quilting also for other crafts such has knitting , crochet and other crafts having to do with sewing or needle works. While browsing I was able to find the knitting needle size I need for a blanket I am planning to make. Very reasonable price. Actually all items that I saw were reasonably priced. Incredibly disappointed with my interaction at the store. I've been a shopper at cloth carousel and had bought yarn online that I needed caked. I offered to pay any kind of fee, buy more yarn today and explained if anything happened to the yarn I wouldn't be disappointed because without it being caked it's almost impossible to use. The lady refused to help me no matter what. She didn't look at the yarn (which was still sealed and in great condition) or ask me any questions regarding the quality. She didn't offer any help in showing me how to possibly hand wind it either. The only advice she offered to me was to buy a winder myself and then she turned her back to me. Luckily, I went to a different yarn store out of the area and they helped me cake the yarn. The yarn I had was easy to use and there was no problem in caking it. read more

I happened upon this fantastic find going to the bank. What a gem! After recently picking up my crocheting hobby (again), I saw the yarn symbol, I had to satisfy my yearning for yarn I couldn't help myself...it was like a small field trip for me. Although I live in Oakland, I consider Cloth Carousel my "local quilt shop" and make the hour long drive at least every month for a class, for fabric, or for the first-Saturday gatherings. This is such a beautiful addition to Vacaville. The selection is great and quality fabric. Staff was really helpful. The yarn selections are beautiful, but focus was more on knitting than crochet. Web site said open til 6 tonight. so drove from Fairfield to Winters. Arriving about 5:15. Employees still in the store but closed sign on door. I knocked they answered the door saying we are closed. Can you please sell me 3 yards of wide quilt backing? NO we are closed the register is turned off.Couldn't they have taken a check and put it in the register tomorrow? Small town service with a large selection of batik, filler fabric, sale fabrics, notions and bright prints. The employees are what make cloth carousel worth driving the extra few miles up 505 to get to Winters. I felt that my quilt project was the most important thing in happening in the store. The employees helped me audition different fabrics and were patient as I made decisions. While I was in the store, people walked in and the employees seemed to know many by first name. CALLING ALL YARN A HOLICS! This place is a must go. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE little yarn shop around, love their selection of Madelintosh & Malebrigo. I always see the same girl when I come in and she's super helpful when you need her and always friendly. I haven't taken a class here but every time I come in and see people signing up for a class or there to take a class they are always in good spirits. I was really excited to have found this place as I love to support small businesses rather than going somewhere like Joann's. However, I had signed up for a class several weeks ago and then just this week my husband's grandfather passed away. He and I have to go to the funeral on the same day of the class and we have to go out of town to attend. When I called to cancel, I let them know of my situation but because I could only give them 4 days advance notice, they told me in a very condescending voice that there was nothing they could do for me as their policy is 7 days advanced notice. When I explained my situation again and asked if I might be able to reschedule, I was dismissed and told they could not help me. This was a very frustrating and disheartening experience especially as we are grieving the loss of my husband's father figure. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with this business. read more

I've been trying to make masks, but it's difficult to get supplies. I remembered this place from when my MIL did quilting classes here. What a wonderful store! They are doing phone and email orders for curbside pickup, and they are ready in about an hour (not a week + at Joanns in Vacaville). Their website is super accurate, even remnants! I was very impressed with this shop, and because I kinda took up sewing, I'm going to attend classes here when they are back up in that regard! Great service, gorgeous fabric, not a lot of licensed stuff. Highly recommend this place, and order lunch from Putah Creek cafe next door. read more

This is a fabulous quilt shop. I'm a lover of batik fabrics and they have some of the prettiest batiks I've ever seen. I picked up 4 patterns which I can do as a beginner sewer and quilter would've bought fabric if I didn't have to travel and carry it back to the Midwest. They're open until 8 on Thursdays, too, which worked out perfectly for my mom and I playing tourist today in Winters! They have a great selection of patterns, cutting rulers and Olfa blades, and various tools/notions, in addition to the fabric. Highly recommend. read more

I wouldn't shop at this store.. last year my mom and I where going to take one of their quilting classes.. When 1 month after we signed up my mom was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer. at that time we went back and told them the situation and they said they would not give a refund that they would give a voucher. we said that would be fine, I asked how long it was good for they said just hang onto it and when you mom is able to take the class we will honor it.. I called a few months later and told them my mom was still unable to take the class, and they said no problem, just hang onto it.. Well its been 18 months and my mom just had half her liver taken out and is still in recovery. So I called again and the owner told me, well basically too bad it expired!! so not only am I out a quilting class, she won't even refund our 200bucks we paid.. I will not shop with a family owned business that has no compassion for human kind and the situations we go through.. If my mom was physically able to take the class we would have taken the class.. If I was that owner I would be ashamed that I have STOLEN someones money. especially from someone that may lose their life! read more

I went to Cloth Carousel for the first time this past weekend after several quilt friends commented on it. It was a bit of a drive and the weather was blazing hot, but it was worth the drive. They have a fantastic selection of fabrics, books, patterns, and notions. They have a large inventory of batiks and the rest of the fabric is not what I have seen in the other quilt shops that I frequent. The staff was very friendly and helpful and very patient, as I asked for them to cut several fat quarters for me. I will definitely go back again...maybe when the weather cools off a bit, though. read more

This is a very good store for fabric. I have not taken any of the classes so I cannot comment but this store is so much better since it is under new ownership.
