I parked and waited in my car a bit but saw another person at the door. Apparently he worked here and went in but a lady came to the door as I was about to open it and locked the door. You really never have to pay full price for anything if you sign up for the emails. Even if you don't, there's ALWAYS a deal here. Service is hit or miss but they really do try their best to help as much possible. The frame guy is awesome. I always get my little pantings framed because there's always a deal on frames as well. , I get my student grade oil and acrylic paint here as well. Great prices (when I use my online coupons) I often have to find someone to open the paint cabinet and it's annoying that I feel rushed to choose my colors, but you can't beat the deal! Plenty of parking, be careful on Colorado turning into the lot, a guy cut me off and because someone was turning (right) he hit the car in front who hit the car in front of them who hit the person turning. I'm done with this place. There's nobody around to help you. I wanted to pick up some mat board to place in some frames and they were are all ragged around the edges. I would have had to have waited for 15 to 20 minutes before either of the people behind the counter could answer a question as to whether they had any more because they were helping other customers with framing. Have ordered exactly what I need from an online store. It may not be the perfect color but I was not about to hang around to wait to find out they didn't have what I need anyway. This Michaels store is located near downtown Pasadena, next door to Vagabond Inn. This Michaels store is unique in which it is 2 stories. Although my husband and I have been to this location a few times in the past, I want to review this place based on my most recent shopping experience, which was last week. My husband and I stopped by on Saturday evening. Pulled up into the parking lot and then walked inside. We were immediately greeted by an employee by the door. One thing that I did notice that was different about this shopping experience than at the other Michaels that I frequent (the Monrovia location. I do not like this location but only go due to the convenience of how much closer it is to my home than other locations), was that there were plenty of employees on the floor, helping customers looking for particular items. This was really nice, because I was looking for some items for my next DIY project. The employees that helped us looking for my items and the employee at the register were friendly. This was definitely a much better shopping experience than what I was expecting since I have almost always had a poor one at the location in Monrovia and on occasion, West Covina. Unfortunately, because this location is much further away from my home, I won't be frequenting this location as often as I would like. But if I am in the area and need to buy more things for my next DIY project, I will be sure to stop by here (especially when there are 60% off coupons). read more

Hasmig in the framing department is an expert pro with a heart of gold! I needed to get a couple of 24x36 paper art works framed within a day. But the paper was slightly too big for the 24x36 frames I had purchased. Hasmig was able to measure and trim the art, saving the day! I also had another piece that had thick, textured paint on it. She advised that I should not use the frame I was originally going to put it in, as the paint should not touch the glass. She helped me order a custom frame with a border mat that would be ready for pick up the next day. I gasped when I saw the custom frame after it was ready; it made my art pop and look sooo professional! Thank you, Hasmig! You are a lifesaver and a joy to work with. read more

They never have what I need in stock. I've been to this store off and on four different times -- they are always out of the acrylic clear .12 string and the colors of .8mm beads that I need. And they don't have any clear acrylic boxes/display boxes, except large ones that are shaped for footballs. Note to self: Call ahead to check rather than just pop in. Big plus is the 50 percent off a single item I got online on the Michaels' website. And you can pick up a coupon at checkout for $5 off if you spend $25.00. Also ample parking. Staff there do answer questions and try to help, which is great. But often, they just say whatever they have is what you see on the shelves...they don't seem to know when things will be restocked. *sigh* Not all Michaels are created equal. The area is inside is just as sketchy and dirty as the area surrounding the building. This just doesn't seem the clean and happy environment that other Michael's portray. The worst customer service ever. I ordered a box of 17 wedding centerpieces online and was sent the wrong ones and without the receipt. When I went to return the items in store I was refused refund bc there was "no evidence I paid for them ". Even though I still had the origins box with the original shipping label and the credit card receipt. Not the best Michael's I have been to. The place is small and can get confusing. It is also quite difficult to find someone when you need help. The store is sort of old, musty, and unorganized. I am not into arts and crafts, but it seems like they do not have all the basic items I need when I AM in the mood to be crafty. It takes me three rotations even before I can find half of the things I need, and that can put a damper on my artsy mood, which doesn't happen often. The store always seem to be out of stock of seasonal items even before the season, except for Christmas. Other stores usually inspire me once I walk in, not this store. I walk in and I want to leave right away! They can have great deals, that is if they even have enough in stock. Parking is horrible and is usually a mess. Small and compact and unorganized. There will always be a wait on the check out line. The line is tad confusing, "Where does it start? Where do I go?". If you want to use a coupon, make sure to download it before you even go, otherwise it will take you forever since there is hardly any reception in the store. The register people are nice. Some are slower than others though. If you do decide to come here, make sure you are not in a rush because you will need more than a map to navigate this place. read more

Lately my hobby had been crocheting, and I come here because I find their yarn selection to be slightly better than Joanns Fabrics. Same large brand names just different types and some fun fashion yarn too. It's funny when I see their stock go on sale, because it isn't much of a sale. Perhaps only a dollar or so cheaper than normal list price. I would say just sign up to be on their mailing list and/or get their app just for the 50% off regular price, save more with that coupon on a regular day. You'll be lucky if you find a staff member that is helpful on the floor, but wait time at checkout is quick even with a long line. Ugh such a crowded place to get art supplies. If you don't have to come here, I suggest you don't. It's not as brightly lit and tidy like the other stores of this chain. The aisles are so cramped it is impossible to squeeze behind people to get through. Looking at a product on a lower shelf? Went in for a slime workshop and left an hour later super excited with our awesome deals. The 60% off coupon is was saved the day. Bought a beautiful scrapbook album for a friend, cardstock, iron on decals and puffy paint. The line was long but every register was open. This location is smaller and more compact then many of the other locations. However, I do like that there is plenty of parking. This location gets pretty busy and messy at times; after shopping here, my hands feel so dusty and dirty. There is a second floor which is mainly frames, including custom frames. The restroom is also upstairs. They don't have as huge a selection of stamps and scrapbooking items like the other stores, but they seem to have a great selection in art supplies (pencils, markers, paper, brushes, etc). I come here pretty frequently and it seems like the turnover rate in employees is high, always a new set of zombies. As long as you avoid the zombies, and know what you're looking for you'll be ok. If you're not already on their email list, check their website for coupons and deals at your select location before stopping by. I tried out their "buy online and pick up in store" deal. The process was pretty easy online and you get a confirmation email once your order was received and a follow up email for when your order is ready for pick up. Although this location is so close to me, I wish they had more stuff for Cuttlebug & Cricut! They have the same old embossing folders for the Cuttlebug and hardly any die cuts. This is an updated review for their scrapbooking section. I realized after coming here a few times to see what new stuff they have, they end up having exactly what was on their shelf from like a month ago! So disappointing. Like seriously, when are you going to stock up on your ink pads? I need more than just the black color, give me a variety! I'll give them credit for their selection of punches though! Sigh... Every time I come here, they never have what I want in stock. I'm not looking for anything unique. For example yesterday I showed up looking for vellum paper. They literally had no vellum paper in stock except for zebra print and hot pink... Customer service is lacking. It's difficult to flag down a worker. Even though I say "excuse me" to grab the attention of workers passing by, they don't stop. Their price labeling is not that accurate either. I tried to use my mobile 40% coupon on a regular price item. When the cashier rang it up, he wouldn't accept it. He said the item was not on sale. Check out is much better since it has been rearranged. Front along Colorado Blvd. has been painted and the windows have been decorated with some nice graphics.
