I'm here only to say THANK YOU to TJ for being such an amazing and thoughtful person today. They helped me choose five different discounted frames for five pieces of art with wildly different qualities. They put all the works of art in the frames for me right after I purchased, cleaning the glass, taping the art so that it's center all for an unbelievable price...fantastic human being. I went to buy poster frames. The sign on the shelf showed the frames were buy 1 get 1 free. When I got to the cashier, she informed me that they were not on sale. I went to the aisle to show the manager the sign. She said with attitude "Oh it's not hanging so it's not on sale." I showed her the sign on the shelf and she said, now with a more annoyed attitude " At Michael's it has to be hanging to be valid" I told I did not work for Michael's I didn't know their rules. I asked if she wanted to remove the sign and she took it even more annoyed. If her attitude was customer service-based, she might have recommended another frame that was on sale and we would have left with $80 worth of frames. I'll look online for frames. read more

I live closer to the Michaels in Bridgewater, however due to their lack of inventory I took the trip to North Brunswick. I can't help but say my experience was pleasant and beyond. Kelley greeted me at the door, I rambled items that I needed and she directed or even collected the items, extremely knowledgeable. Upon check out she then appeared at the check out, of which I even said "Wow your a jack of all trades" lol she then told me she was the manager, I appreciated her from beginning to end, she's definitely an asset to the store. I'm really annoyed. One register open, several people inline. When asked if they could open another register they said they were short on staff. I asked one of the employees a question and the response was short and snippy. Seemed annoyed that I was asking her a question. Whatever happened to good customer service? I really like the items in the store but I dread coming in and having to wait on such a long line. read more

It's has some heavy hitters competition with Hobby Lobby and Joanne's Fabrics, but it still a great store to shop in.

From my experience on 8/17: Spent some time in the store with a cart full of things I wanted. I was second in line with one cashier at the time, another customer behind me. While I'm waiting to be next, I hear "I can help the next customer" which came from register #3 so the customer behind me let me back up to get to that register. It was an older lady, gray hair, just around 5', & had a white mask with dogs printed on it. As I'm finishing up unloading my cart, the woman that was behind me was being helped at the register I would have been at, seemingly no big deal. Then the phone rings and my cashier decided to answer it, mind you she hasn't even began to process my transaction. Everything was pretty much on the counter (except for some bigger things) and she began to help the customer ON THE PHONE while I was, I suppose, to wait. So she pulled me out of line to "help" me, just so that I could wait while she helped someone on the phone about stretch canvases. All the while, the woman that was behind me at the original register was already paying for her items...that could have been me. Very annoying. I asked her if she was serious and she turned her BACK on me so that she could hear the customer on the phone LOL I could NOT believe that! I'm staring at the cashier's back because I'm possibly interrupting her phone conversation?! Unacceptable. The moment she turned her back, I grabbed my personal belongings out of the cart and left. Left the remaining purchases and cart at the register, as well as the crowded supplies on the counter. That was absolutely disrespectful. Walking out was the best thing I could do in that moment. Managers should absolutely train her and other staff members to always be guest forward while kindly placing phone calls on hold. read more

I went to return an item without a receipt, keeping in mind that maybe they wouldn't accept the return. As soon as I even asked about the return I was met with some of the nastiest customer service of my life and have never felt more uncomfortable. I left wanting to cry, I'm a 22 year old girl and felt like I was being bullied by my adult cashier. read more

THIS MICHAELS IS THE WORST!! Don't bother shopping here. My son needed a 22x28" poster frame, so I went online and purchased it from Michael's.com for in store pickup (when it said this store had same day pickup with 2 in stock). I waited for the email confirmation, it didn't come, so I went to the store- my order wasn't ready. I went to the frame area and couldn't find the right size. I asked for assistance, the manager looked it up and said they didn't have any in stock and that I should have received an email telling me my order was cancelled. She let me know that the store only updates the online inventory reports every 4 days, so the website is wildly inaccurate. So thanks for wasting my time! Now my $ is tied up in this transaction which the manager said would get released in 1-2 days. Went to my car and bought it online from Jeff bezos for a 2-pack of frames for cheaper than michaels was selling 1. Never shopping here again if I can help it. read more

This is the Michael's located closest to me. They have a good scrapbooking section, a few aisles of yarn (though I don't knit), one for baking, one for drawing paper, and a few for frames and wall hangings. Almost no needle felting projects. It might be because several aisles are currently dedicated to Christmas decorations, but I don't see as many enticing things in this store as I do in other ones. It's not as big as the one on 22. This is one of those stores that has lots of coupons. There is usually a 40% off or 50% off one regular price item coupon that you can pull up online (they can scan them off your phone). Another good one is 25% off entire purchase including sale items. They also take Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, and other competitors' coupons. read more

Michael's is usually one of my first stops for arts & crafts supplies. I love that Michael's has coupons every week and my family friends get me gift cards since I'm here so much. I have never had a problem with the staff - if anything, I just wish there were a few more of them so if I'm looking for something specific (which I usually am...) I can ask someone. When I do find a person, they usually have tried the products before, which is great because I can do less guessing. This location is also well lit, spacious, well stocked, and clean. There is usually plenty of parking, although the ingress/egress can be a little tedious. I tend to spend a lot of time in the scrapbooking section, beading, floral, ribbon, and the fun aisle of cheap $1 goodies. I usually walk in with something specific in mind - a particular shade of red metallic paint, or the perfect royal blue lightweight cardstock, or 12 inch covered floral wire stems. Typically I can find something close to what I want and have walked out successful. I am incapable of walking in and out in under an hour - I really enjoy exploring here. The kid friendly sections here are also really good and they should be able to come up with a variety of rainy day projects. read more

Gets the job done, they have the supplies that I need for a good price. Big tip: check their website, they always have 40% off coupons. Staff was pretty unfriendly today, seems like they did not want to be there, but prior times I have gone, they've been fine. Because of the inconsistency, I am rating 3 stars. All in all, good supply of art products, not the best customer service. If the customer service gets better, I will be more than happy to update my review to a higher rating. read more

Store definitely has a large amount of frames, and arts and crafts supplies. However, if I had to compare this place to A C Moore or Hobby Lobby, I don't like it as much. Here's why. Despite, that its large, easy to navigate, and its clean, the staff here is not at all friendly, and its hard to find staff here. Hobby Lobby and A C Moore, you can find staff anywhere. Staff makes no eye contact with you when helping you, and there was at point there was a Help Wanted sign. Meaning, this place is running low. However, productwise. it does show its game. I just go to A C Moore because its closer to me. Also, since Hobby Lobby just opened up, Michaels could close, and we'll need a new store! read more

Great store to just roam around in and browse. They have some of the most random of trinkets and items beyond crafting material. When it comes the crafting, they're fairly reliable with the items they have in stock. From yarn, to paints, to flower decor. read more

The only complaint is the attitude. I would think during covid-19 they would be a little more friendly and inviting. The acting store manager was Jessica, super ruder and short. I purchased 4 cake boxes, it said it would be ready the same day, i went three days later because the only email i received was that order was not ready, but when i got there i got an attitude and also was informed that the order will take up to a week or more, they said they had the boxes but only one person pulling the items and over 500 orders. I did not understand if there are so many orders why have only one person doing it, i still wonder why that store is open, no one ever knows anything, always a line with one cashier and always nasty. read more

I hate hate hate hate HATE this store and their rude staff. Last time I went to buy some yarn, the woman at the cash register kept putting the just-rung-up balls of yarn into the same pile as the not-yet-rung-up. When I tried to separate the two (so I wouldn't get charged twice), she accused me of shoplifting, insisted that I empty my bags and pockets, and threatened to call security (does michael's even HAVE security?). Just had a terrible experience here. Came to pick up 4 pieces which I had framed. Cost me close to $800 and I wish that was an exaggeration. When I picked them up- two pieces were supposed to have the same frame and they didn't. I'm not upset that they aren't fixing it bc they are fixing it. I'm upset at the nasty woman who had the worst attitude when I wanted to get it fixed. I SWEAR I was totally calm and rational and she just kept trying to argue with me and was unbelievably defensive. It was completely unnecessary, came out of nowhere, and actually made me upset how angry she was with me. I will never set foot in this store again. read more

I asked Carmel to ring me up because the other line was trying to resolve a customer service issue that was taking too long. She rolled her eyes at me and sighed. She then proceeded to interact with the cashier that was taking too long now forcing me to continue to wait. This was literally the worst customer service I have ever received. Very bad experience at North Brunswick Michaels store. The staff is very rude when we were doing check out. I did trying to buy online and pick up store with them. No any pick up notification email sending out after 3 days that I placed the order. When I called them for this concern, they told me they have more than 200 online orders coming through this order and they need a week to prepare my order. LIAR!!! No more shopping from your store. You destroy Michaels' reputation! read more

The employees at this location are less than thrilled to be working there, and you can clearly see that when you interact with them. I placed an online order for in-store pickup at 1:00pm this afternoon, and the site states if you place your order by 5:00pm you'll get same day pick up. I had an order of 12 small skeins of yarn, nothing crazy; the only issue was one color was low on stock according to the website. Hours go by and I hadn't gotten an email that my order was ready so I gave the store a call. An unenthused employee picked up and placed me on hold for about 5 minutes and didn't return to the phone so I hung up. After speaking with online customer support and finding out that turnaround time on these types of orders is 2-4 hours, I called the store back. The same employee answered the phone and placed me on hold again, this time he came back though. He told me if I hadn't received an email by then (about 6:00pm) that my order wouldn't be ready tonight and I can try again in the morning, maybe they'll get it ready. At around 7:00pm I got an email that my order was ready so I ran straight to the store to get my order, but because they waited so long to prepare my order, one of the colors of yarn no longer had the quantity in stock that I ordered. When I got to the pickup area, the employee greeted me with a severe attitude, as if I was inconveniencing her by coming to pick up what I had paid for. After asking my name and going to find my order, she came back asking for my confirmation email. She looked at the email and promptly responded, "Ughh, you're the yarn lady." She finally retrieved my order and I signed for it and left. I wish I had taken a moment to look at her nametag because this was just an unacceptable service. Next time I decide I need anything craft related, I certainly won't be going to this Michaels location. This was my first purchase at this Michaels location and certainly my last. Valued customer?
