I defy anyone to distinguish last season's v-neck sweater from the current version. So three cheers…read morefor a clearance sale that is tantamount to shoplifting. I also defy anyone to distinguish the 1980 version of JC Penney from the current one. For years, I've been reading about their "comeback" and umpteenth brand revitalizations while the store looks more and more like a Sears wannabe during the last days of Pompeii. Come on fellas buy a can of paint and sweep out those cobwebs. While I'm waiting for Godot, I'll content myself with an entirely new winter wardrobe at 1980 prices but wonder how much longer this legacy retailer can hang on. Four stars for the bargains.

The fact is, malls are dying. Keeping a legacy store open like Penneys requires a lot of gumption - and a little less inventory to make it work. I usually have great luck shopping their site and having it delivered free to the store for pickup, fwiw. Still, it was The Night Before A Trip and we needed odds and ends and Penneys in-store shopping came through bigly. My mom got a super cute plus size puffer coat - we LOVE when stores carry plus sizes in store. And I got a pair of silver loafers that are show stoppers. $24 versus the $100+ other retailers were charging. And in true anachronistic fashion, my mom also picked up a pair of black tights - plus size at that. Kind of incredible honestly. I'm not mad at it. The employees were super nice, too.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and it was the cutest most wholesome experience! The instructors…read morewere so kind and helpful to us and we genuinely had an amazing time for our first ever pottery class. We got to choose between a mug, bowl, or plate but you can modify the exact shape or depth and they help you do that! We were there for about two hours and it was plenty of time to make our pottery and paint. Definitely search up some ideas or a Pinterest board for inspiration beforehand since we all spent so long there trying to decide.

This summer 2023 I decided to spend some time to explore pottery making. I chose this studio…read morebecause I wanted to try out pottery making first with a one day experience ( use the wheel with their expert guidance, create a finished piece and paint the piece). I loved my process during the one day wheel experience and decided to take their 4 week wheel classes. I mostly learned from their staff Danielle and she was an excellent teacher! One day wheel experience - $48 per person - perfect friend hangout or date activity! - make 1 piece on the wheel with expert staff guidance with options to make 1 more piece on your own - paint your piece with engobes paint and pick up your piece after a few weeks! 4 week classes - $200 total- such a good deal! Weekly 1 hr classes that includes all supplies, glazes and firing - make atleast 2 pieces depending on how your skills progress throughout the classes. I made 6 pieces but only took home 4! - I was a beginner so Danielle focused on throwing cylinders. However I wish there could be more variety in throwing different shapes- like a bowl - I learned so much from each class from wedging clay, centering, making even walls, trimming, making and attaching handles I loved my experience here and I'll be back to utilize their studio space for wheel throwing as well as glaze some of their premade pieces

EAST BRUNSWICK: Brunswick Square mall recently became pet friendly and we love that you can shop…read moreindoors with your dog! Dogs must be leashed, and of course, be respectful of merchandise and be sure to take your pup outside for bathroom breaks. The mall is small enough to easily go outside to the parking lot. Individual stores have their own policies, so check with a staff member before you go in. We stopped by to get lunch and enjoyed the outdoor patios of both The Twisted Crab and Bar Louie. We popped into GameStop, Bath & Body Works, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, and Panera Bread has an outdoor patio for the pups! In addition to shopping at some great stores and eating at some nice restaurants, you can use the mall as a convenient place to take your dog for an indoor walk. The mall hosts events too, so take a look at their website/social media for current happenings.

Macys and JCPenney are magically still around as the anchors. There are some stores, but nothing really to keep you coming back here. I mean, unless Express Factory Store is your forte. I'm not sure what will save the mall at this point, but it seems like some restaurants are keeping afloat here. There's a Panera, a Bar Louie, a Barnes and Noble, Red Robin..... The location is kinda tough. Just a lot of traffic, so it's a bit of a pain for someone like me to get there. In the same amount of time I spend on Route 18, I could easily be at Menlo Park Pall or even Quaker Bridge Mall.
