This Michaels was well organized, clean and nicely stocked. They offer a good selection on craft supplies at a reasonable price. Sometimes they have special offer pre-packaged yarn for as low as $1 a skein! There were plenty of customers on the weekend, but the checkout line went pretty fast. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . Tried using the pick up service. I was hoping they would be ready faster, but they weren't, so I decided just to go in and grab what I needed myself. (No big deal.) When I went to check out, I asked if I could just use the order number I already have since it's already paid. One of the workers, Gina, said no. I would have to return and buy again. Bummer, but then the other worker standing there chimed in and said she could just fulfill it real quick. Awesome! But then Gina told her no because then I would be cutting the line of the other pick up orders. Confused I explained that I PICKED UP the items and I am not cutting or making someone else wait longer. Gina continued to talk to me in a rude tone and kept saying I was cutting even thought I got the materials myself, no one was even in the checkout area, and her and another employee were just standing there. The other worker printed the receipt in no more than a minute. Thanks Gina for your rudeness! (I wish I knew the other employee's name who was helpful.)

Staff are always friendly, and almost always have the paint supplies I need. I think that I just love Michael's in general though.

The owner took a real interest in helping me and showing me local products. I wasn't sure what to expect walking in, as their website doesn't show their products. However there was an impressive selection to choose from, one that I felt encompassed a wide price point which I appreciated. There was lots of different brands/ fibers/ weights ranging from $4 to $30 (all great quality). A great store for garment/ sock knitters like myself, I did also spot some unique fibers that would be great for other items like bags or amigurumi. One thing I would suggest is maybe providing baskets to carry around since I bought so much!

There was a strong odor of cigarette smoke outside the shop, but thought this could have been from someone smoking outside. Nope. The strong smoke odor permeated throughout the shop. I spent about 15 minutes in the shop, picking up several different skeins of yarn to inspect the fibers and composition. No one was at the register. I'm not even sure if anyone there was working or not. It felt like I had entered a party that I was not invited to. Strange experience. I wanted to support a local business instead of Michaels, but walked out without a purchase. Even as I was exiting there was no greeting of any kind.

If…read moreTuft A Rug treats their actual customers with the same total lack of respect they show to the local community's personal property, save your money and look elsewhere. While I was having lunch nearby at Lazy Dog with my family, a representative from this shop decided to use the entire parking lot as their personal dumping ground, going row by row shoving unsolicited advertising flyers under the windshield wipers of every single vehicle including mine. Let's be entirely clear: nobody wants your marketing garbage forced onto their car. It is incredibly invasive and disrespectful to touch someone else's vehicle without permission. Beyond that, it creates an immediate, ugly litter problem for the neighborhood when these papers inevitably blow away or get tossed onto the pavement by annoyed drivers. If a company has to resort to desperate, intrusive, guerrilla-style littering tactics just to get eyeballs on their brand, it speaks volumes about the sub-par quality of their operation. I will absolutely never support Tuft A Rug, and I strongly urge everyone else to take their business to other local shops that actually respect private property and the community.

Tuft A Rug is one of the coolest and most creative thing to do- ever! I've been an artsy gal my…read morewhole life and have done all the artsy activities that you can do with your friends but rug tufting definitely takes the cake. Tuft-A-Rug is located in Fox Valley Mall, which is perfect as most other rug making locations are in the city. Walking by, you can immediately see people already at work (a genius way to grab people's attention!). You start by choosing what size rug you would like to make, as price and time requirements differ with both. I recommend booking in advance. If you come as a group, the fee also becomes discounted. I chose the 21x18 size and went with a friend which came to about $60 per person. It starts out with a demonstration so you get to practice a bit! I was super nervous but once you get the hang of it, it's so much fun. You can make any design you want. You'll trace out the image by either free handing it, or you can use your phone to project a picture and trace it that way. A tip is that if you know what you want to do and have an image, you can actually email it to them and they can trace it ahead of time so it's ready- which is super convenient. There's a plethora of color yarn you can choose from. I know I keep saying it, but seriously, this activity was so much fun. Once it comes together it really gives you so much satisfaction. It did take quite a bit of time, and the bigger and more complex your design, the longer it will take. I, of course, like to make my life complicated for some reason so it took a bit of time, maybe about 3 hours. But it came out SO cute! I made a hedgehog laying in a bed of daisies!! Please do note, that you will not go home with your rug the day of. They do have to finish it which may take about a month (it can be shipped if need be). There are some options of finishing touches that you can select. And if you do have some small patchiness that might need a touch up, they're happy to help! Service was awesome, the owner Keaton was the bomb. So patient, funny, and super helpful! Even with a bigger group he managed to help everyone when they needed it. The location is ideal, there's definitely enough space and seating, cool walls to take photos with your rugs. The playlist was bomb. The price is completely fair and actually very affordable for the service, time, and product. I really have nothing but more raving to do about this place and wish it all the best. I've already recruited a friend group to come back and do it with me! Keaton is passionate about his work and it is very clear in the way it is set up! So as always, please support local businesses and especially this one which is unique and so much fun! You won't regret it!
