According to their website they are a "Comics, Toys, Gaming, SCI-FI, Legos, Stars, Anime, Horror Films, TV/MOVIE MEMORABILIA, Autographs, Super Heroes, Anime, Action Figures, Cosplay, Fantasy, Horror, Collectibles, Sports Memorabilia, Non Sports Cards, Vintage Music Memorabilia, Publishers & Artist Convention - but open to anything fan-related!" The problem is that the space isn't that big (this isn't McCormick, after all), so cutting so broad a swath in subject matter dilutes the intensity: you just get a sprinkling of this and that. Still, my friend was able to cross a Christmas gift off her list. Some prices were outlandish or we might have indulged more. There's gaming, cosplay, food (The Twisted Cookie who we saw at Vintage Garage was here too!), acrobat girls dressed like Picachu and the Powerpuff girls performing precariously in the tight lobby along with a Tom Jones (?) impersonator. Probably the biggest celebrity draw (to me) wasn't coming til Sunday: Svengoolie! Overall, for the $10 one-day entry fee, it might be worth your time to check it out if you're a bored geek. Geek Inc Bartlett has some hidden gems in toys, and they have better prices than the nearby Carol Stream store. In fact, often HALF the cost of the main store in Carol Stream. So check this place out. THere's also alot of comics to dig through if that's your thing. Every Free Comic Book Day I find something like cheap AF Star Trek The Next Generation figures, even tho this year I found the best piece at the Carol Stream store lol, a Cobra vehicle. What a weird area these NW burbs are. There are literally 2 Issa's Venezuelan Restaurants and 2 Geek Inc comic stores in these towns. I want 2 smoked BBQ places next. Then I'll be in heaven.

These guys had prints that I haven't been able to locate at other shops, and everything was extremely well organized. Books were in great condition, and the staff were so kind and helpful. Very much a "reader's" comic shop, but they have tables set up for your D&D game or Magic or really whatever your fancy is. First, their store credit policy makes no sense: you can't use it on "premium" items, which defeats the purpose of having store credit at all. On top of that, when I sold them some premium Magic: The Gathering cards, the prices I was given were for the wrong versions. Because I had my three kids with me at the time, I didn't notice until later, but it felt dishonest and not worth the argument. What bothered me most, though, was how they treated me as a newer customer. I stood waiting for about 15 minutes with my kids while staff ignored me to casually chat and eat with tournament patrons who weren't even doing business at the time. They had recognized me, but still dismissed me while I was clearly trying to complete a transaction. It made me feel like my time -- and my business -- weren't valued. Most of the staff were nice, but the older bald gentleman was rude and dismissive, which really stood out. Between the poor credit rules, the card pricing issue, and the way I was treated as a customer, I can't recommend Thunder Comics. If they want to encourage more sales and playtime in their store, they should focus more on being fair, welcoming, and attentive -- especially to new customers

The selection was good; I found some back issues I had been struggling to find at other shops, and Thom bags and boards everything so the condition was top notch. He even took an extra 10% off the top on the comics I bought, which I so appreciated (standard discount on comics I believe, but do ask him)! Important to note - the shop is cash only and has been for a long time. There are ATMs at nearby shops, so don't let it deter you from stopping by. Having been in comics for 40 years, I'm tired of seeing shop owners who lack customer service. Even though he was willing to open them for me, I tend to buy dozens at a time and could potentially be at the register for 30 min while he opens them for me. I'm not looking for perfect customer service but there's a way to talk to people. He wasn't rude but had the personality of a rock. I'm in my 50's and don't appreciate being treated like a child. Put up signage if you don't want people to open the books. And how about a break it or buy it policy? Even though I handle the books better than most store owners, if I damage the book while examining it, I'll pay for it. You already got cameras on me so what's the problem. I won't be back. (Replying to the owner's reply: A better response would have been, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience and misunderstanding. I'll take your thoughts into consideration and strive to create a better experience for my customers.
