I arrived around 2:50pm today (24 January) to check out the shop. I was impressed with the reviews, and I made a detour on my route to check the shop out. I like the store policy to combat scalpers, only allowing one copy to be sold per cover. When I got there, the OPEN sign was lit and the lights were on, but a small sign said "back in 5 minutes" and another sign had been flipped to closed. Tried the handle and the shop was locked. No big deal - I had 5 minutes to spare. I went back to my car. Waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes -- no change in the signage. I watched another potential shopper try the door, still locked, and they waited 5 minutes (now 15 for me). No change - they left. 3:05pm and still no one there during store hours. I saw another potential shopper try again 5 minutes later and still nobody. After 25 minutes of waiting, I gave up and went on my way. To say I'm disappointed in the service level would be an understatement. I'm giving 2 stars because I feel like it could be a good shop, but my experience doesn't reflect that at all. I hope it's a one off failure to keep track of time or maybe an emergency that came up. I'll try again another day, but I definitely won't wait the 5 minutes the sign asks for again - it can't be trusted. read more

Every time I attempt to stop in, while in the area. I'm greater with a "watchful eye" and silence. I hate to see comic stores close, but with this level of customer service, and hate/gatekeeping - it is what it is. Hard pass. read more

Great little place. Great selection of back issues and current. Staff is nice and friendly. I found out about this place when I first shopped at their spot at C2E2. They usually give coupons for their shop to make sure you pick some up if you see them at a convention. They have a large amount of comics in their $1-2 bins so this is a good spot to fill in your missing issues. The only drawback for me is location, I would definitely visit this place more if they were closer but I still try and make my way there here and there. The only other drawback is the size of the shop, if there are a few people shopping, it can make it tough but the store is well organized to make up for it. Definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking to find a good comic book spot. read more

Awesome!!!!!! This place is. Okay so there's nothing like walking in and seeing issue 300 of the amazing spider man on the shelf, and if you ask nicely you can hold it and look at it which is also awesome. Then you get 25% off hardcovers and trade paper backs for like no reason and if you check you're receipt when you comeback you can possibly get an additional 10% off for being a rerun customer. Hands down best place to geek out for a few minutes. Also if you have a special request on a book all you gotta do is ask and the owner Jason whom is great will jus order it or you ! I'm going to give you a background story here about myself first. I start collecting comics when I was 5 years old (1980) and got serious with the hobby in the late 80's. I collected up until about 2014. Due to my local shop closing, the prices continuing to go up, a lowered household income, and running out of space, I had to give up the hobby. There are exceptions to every rule. Especially when you make up the rule. There was a mini series that came out this year, "He-Man and Thundercats", and I had to have it. I've waited over 30 years for this crossover. So I've been picking up the issues here and there. I headed to Got Comics today to pick up the last issue. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman when I walked in. It's a nice, clean, well lit up store. I found my issue with no problems. Entering this store really makes me wish I could jump back into my hobby. They had back issues, statues, and action figures to go with the newer issues. The figures didn't seem to be priced too bad. If I'm ever single again, I'll be back to Got Comics to sign up for their subscription service. read more

This place is awesome! They have a lot of back issues which I was happy about because I was able to get a lot of ones that I was missing. They also have back issues that came out awhile ago. So you can get back back issues if you get what I mean lol. They also sell a good amount of graphic novels and they have mini series in bundles which is good. They also sell figures and buttons and all that. Overall a great place and would definitely come back. read more

I recently spent more than $150 at this shop. I later realized that that one of the hardcovers I purchased was already in my collection. Armed with my receipt, I attempted to exchange the sealed book for another book I had my eye on, but was told the shop doesn't accepts returns of any kind and would not exchange the item. I could understand if the hardcover was open, but it was completely sealed and I wanted to exchange it for another book and pay the difference. This is no way to do business or foster an ongoing relationship with customers. Needless to say, this shop has lost my business. read more

Please note - I have only been here once. Had the person working that day been more helpful this would have been a 3-star review. We happened to be in the area, which we don't get to very often, so we decided to check them out. The place is a decent size with plenty of room to move around & well organized. They obviously have many comics & a nice assortment of action figures, busts, toys, etc. as well. I felt the pricing was in general pretty good. In addition to checking them out we were looking for a specific Star Wars comic book that had just come out 10 days earlier. After looking around a while the man at the register asked if there was something specific we were looking for (this was an older gentlemen, I have no idea whether he was the owner or not, I'm hoping it was not). We told him what we were in search of & that it had come out 10 days earlier & he directed us to the Star Wars section. Nope, not there. Then he showed us the area up from where the more recent arrivals are displayed. Nope, not there either. He didn't seem overly interested in comic books, which is why I'm hoping he wasn't the owner. He didn't mention having seen the one we were looking for & there was no offer to order it for us (at Keith's Komix in Schaumburg he offers to order stuff in a heartbeat if he happens to not have what you are in search of). The man working there went back to playing his card game on the computer & we spent about a half-hour looking around the whole place. We were there long enough he had plenty of time for it to occur to him to ask if they could order the comic book for us or maybe check & see if more are coming in...so either they don't offer such service when necessary or he could care less. read more

I love this store! The owners are incredibly helpful, and better than that, they are so considerate. My daughter, now nearly 8, started to get interested in comics nearly 2 years ago. I myself know nothing about comics. The owners were wonderful in guiding both me and my daughter towards age-appropriate comics that were in line with what interests her. What a FUN way to encourage reading at a young age! And... I can't help but love and want to encourage any little girl who likes super hero's over barbies. :) read more

Great store! Everything is beautifully organized all comics come with free bag and board. However they lose one star because I was saw they had a variant cover of a comic that came out yesterday with a cover price of 3.99 but they were charging 50$ for it. Which I would pay slightly more for if they had come out with a second printing of it but nowhere near that much read more

I was thrilled having this place in my neighborhood when I decided to get back into reading and collecting comics. I started collecting a few different series and put myself on a pull list. The first two months had problems like an incorrect email address and such which I accepted and overlooked but when I came in and asked why I hadn't been contacted that my comics were in the owner (the younger guy) told me that contact was only made before they put the comics back on the shelf. I got a new job, and accepting that the owner gave me correct information I didn't bother coming in because I didn't have the time to read the comics. I came in during the holidays to buy my held comics and the owner informed me they had been put back on the shelf. I asked him what about the email I was supposed to get and he said he was checking the email account (a Gmail thus had a search function) and couldn't find anything. I waited for five minutes as he pretended to look for a thing he knew didn't exist and I told him that was unacceptable and that he had lost my business. He didn't even attempt to make it right. I have been a small business owner and I understand you can't hold on to things forever but not even trying to retain a customer is something I can't grasp. I am disappointed because it simply could have been resolved if this owner cared enough to keep his word by sending a 30 second email. read more

Got Comics in Glendale Heights has a huge selection of great books. I found the latest Green Lantern, Thor and XMen. My kids love them and I borrow them once in a while too. They also have HeroClix every Friday night which is terrific. My son and I go there and the game is really fun. read more
