I frequently come in to play D&D, demo boardgames, or play in the Game of Thrones LCG 2nd Edition Tournaments! I appreciate that the rules for the space are clearly posted on the wall behind the register, so the expectation for everyone is established (I would imagine it makes it easier for staff to enforce as well, because they can just refer to the sign). The clerk was very friendly and gave me some info about a game I was interested in (a collaborative version of "The Fox in the Forest"; my fiance and I love the original version), which I ended up purchasing! Every time I've ever stopped in, I've been treated kindly & with respect by the staff working there - which is *not* a given when you're a solo guy with tattoos shopping alone, trust & believe that. A really helpful & nice gentleman named Jackson showed me the "buy 1, get one 1 free" deal they were running for some of their paints. He made the process of shopping for/choosing different colors or different formulas really easy, & honored the deal fairly! He was helpful & cool. Anyone who is into wargaming, table top miniatures etc KNOWS that any kind of buy 1, get 1 deal on high end paints like Citadel, Vallejo or Army Painter is an insanely good value. Also, there has always been some kind of community gaming event happening whenever I've stopped in; which tells me it's *clearly* an important hub for the TCG/TWG community. There are rooms with tables and chairs to play games as well as a plethora of table top games for sale. An interesting section in the front had a section of items for sale for bird enthusiasts. There was also a section of cute plushies + various cute items like Pusheen notebooks and other character stationery. Rooms had framed posters or other themed decor like Avengers, Star Wars, Harry Potter and more. One room that was locked and fascinating is an escape room. The hubby and I have visited many table top game stores in Southern California. This one in greater Chicagoland is by far superior and unique to anything we have seen before. Upon further inspection the card condition was moderately played and priced as a mint copy of $225, a Moderately played copy is $83 as current market. I asked the employee who was super understanding about the issue and knew the card wasn't the cleanest nor the most mint looking card. He had told me if I wanted to see if the manager was cool with lowering the price, I put down my information and waited for the managers response. Where he wouldn't lower the price but by $25. I argued I'm not paying $200 for a card that is worth $83 in that condition. He didn't seem to care and stayed firm on his $200. Any one shopping at this location should make sure their prices are reasonable and fair for the card. Sucks that this ruined my experience with this shop and I'll be happy to spend my money elsewhere.
