I love this place. The couple who owns it are super nice and helpful. Great selection of Pokémon…read morecards, Gundam, even Vanguard and Weiss Schwartz! Very reasonable prices and selection. They also have sports cards from also every sport. Highly recommended!

I've been to Dean's dugout occasionally for magic the gathering events, and have found myself frustrated multiple times with round times going over because judge/owner doesn't pay attention. I am prompted to leave this review tonight because of an experience I had taking my new friend to a magic the gathering pre-release. My friend was completely new to the game and I asked his opponents before each round if it was all right to intervene and help him remember triggers, explain what cards do, etc. everything was quite nice up until the second round, his opponents were kind and patient, helping him find a love for the game. The judge approached us after the second round to explain to me that I wasn't allowed to intervene with another game. I kindly explained to him that his opponents were completely fine with my intervention. After going back-and-forth for a few minutes, we were kicked out of the event. I went to go talk to the owner to get a second opinion on the matter. He proceeded to yell at us to get out of the store and make a scene in front of all of the players. I never remembered Friday night Magic being so uptight. I wish I could go back 5 to 10 years when new players were invited, not screamed at. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK AGAIN. Very strange and sad to see a store run like this.

the strangest thing happened over labor day weekend; I came here and walked inside, announced…read moremyself, walked around a little more and took some pictures, waited a little because I had my box stock Mazda with me and wanted to go roundy round for a while because I like that sort of thing unless there's wing cars on the track (IYKYK) but I never saw anybody... maybe they were in the process of getting robbed or burgled and I just missed it? regardless, it's an interesting if not unique set up. there's a big flat track occupying prime real estate as you walk in and a big old king sprawled across the back half of the store with a parts shop and pit areas where they fit. I saw a straight line down the far side (there's almost always a straight line for the 100% GO FAST!! crowd) funny thing about these places, they're way funner if you listen more than talk; more often than not the guy running it is a professional...

Mike was super easy to work with and pricing was very reasonable to host a 2 hour party for kids. The main track can be dialed back so that the kids won't send the cars off the track. Mike (one man team) did a great job of rotating the kids in for races and even had a separate area for those not racing to send hot wheels care down an inclined race track to pass time while they awaited their turn. Overall the event was a success. We were able to bring in pizza from next door for food. I have pretty fond memories of my dad taking my brother and I slot car racing when we were kids so it was a really cool to be able to share the same experience with my son and his friends. 'Til next time, cheers!

My brother is a big gamer, and I also enjoy board games, so my family swung in here while having…read morelunch in Downers Grove. There were lots of board and card games of all sorts, as well as dice, miniatures and paints, and a gaming area for community games. I appreciate that the rules for the space are clearly posted on the wall behind the register, so the expectation for everyone is established (I would imagine it makes it easier for staff to enforce as well, because they can just refer to the sign). The clerk was very friendly and gave me some info about a game I was interested in (a collaborative version of "The Fox in the Forest"; my fiance and I love the original version), which I ended up purchasing! Glad to support a local business! I'll be back for more games.

Every time I've ever stopped in, I've been treated kindly & with respect by the staff working there - which is *not* a given when you're a solo guy with tattoos shopping alone, trust & believe that. A really helpful & nice gentleman named Jackson showed me the "buy 1, get one 1 free" deal they were running for some of their paints. He made the process of shopping for/choosing different colors or different formulas really easy, & honored the deal fairly! He was helpful & cool. Anyone who is into wargaming, table top miniatures etc KNOWS that any kind of buy 1, get 1 deal on high end paints like Citadel, Vallejo or Army Painter is an insanely good value. Also, there has always been some kind of community gaming event happening whenever I've stopped in; which tells me it's *clearly* an important hub for the TCG/TWG community. As a hobbyist, grateful to have the store around. (PS, if you stock the new GW Aeldari kits for Lhykhis, Baharroth, or Swooping Hawks, I'd buy them)
