I had only recently heard about Tyton games and it was only a few minutes out of the way when I decided to check it out. If i didn't know it was there I would have easily driven right past it. Walking in I was greeted and soon found an assortment of games new and old. It's mostly a gamers store with only a limited video game selection. Everything they have in store was neatly displayed on a shelf where you can touch the merchandise. I believe all the vintage games were in soft plastic sleeves and were clearly marked with the price. A few games were under glass which made it a tad difficult to see the prices. On the back wall is an assortment of cords, cables, and controllers. For local gamers (video games, tabletop, TCG, or board game), this store should probably be your first stop. Varied selection appealing to a lot of different hobbies. I wish I lived closer to justify attending a tourney at their game room. I came in for some MTG singles for a Commander deck I'm working on. They didn't have the specific card I was looking for, but they did have a lot of binders and boxes of cards that were fair game to sort through which was cool. I picked up a couple and neat box for storing the deck once built. I inquired on their booster prices and they were fairly priced (I believe they offered a 3 for $10 price). Love these guys! If you're looking for old/retro console games this place is it! Large selection of various old console games. If you're into magic they also have a huge selection and a pretty sizable player base with events hosted weekly! I go there mainly for Warhammer. They offer a good discount off of MSRP and have a wide selection! They have a lot of "old hammer" boxes and sets from the early 1990s! Very cool! Lots of current models too! They have free gaming tables and some of the best terrain I've seen on those tables in the area! read more

If your idea of "retro" gaming means the first XBox, then be prepared for an education when you come here. Real retro video games including Atari 2600 carts, some STILL in their original boxes. Sold some PS1 games that I thought I would never get rid of to these guys and they gave me a decent amount for them which I was very happy with. I was also looking for some wireless NES controllers which they had and allowed me to test before I bought them. I came back a second time and bought some NES games that worked with minimal effort (blowing on them of course, but they didn't work out of the box unless you did that) and was very happy with my purchases. They had a good assortment of a variety of consoles and were very knowledgeable about each of them. This will be my go-to place for NES going forward! read more

These guys are great! I popped into this store just to see what they were about and found some great additions to my SNES collection. I actually couldn't find a game I really wanted, they took down my info, and called me within the week because they found it in their back stock. ALSO, I was having problems with an XBOX, and they cleaned it up and got it working like new! Great prices and great service from a nice, small town business. read more

The place is a MUST visit location for retro game enthusiasts. The owners are very knowledgeable, polite, and professional. They have a great assortment of games for NES, SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis. If you miss your old retro console and have been wanting to revisit your old favorite games this is the place for you. They have several system bundles available that are reasonably priced. I picked up an NES bundle and 3 games. My wife and I spent the entire night and had a blast. Everything worked great and I was really impressed with the quality and condition of the merchandise. We will definitely be visiting this place on a regular basis to pick up more games and eventually an SNES as well. Also, if they dont have what you want let them know what you are looking for. This place is fantastic! They have a gigantic stock of old retro games, systems, and peripherals, all in great condition. They even have a TV set up with all the old consoles so that people can make sure the old games still work. The guys who run the place are really friendly and laid back and really seem like they love what they do. They also have card game tables and Warhammer tables, and they even sell brand NEW Warhammer stuff BELOW retail prices. They even play cool music in there! I have no idea what that other guy who reviewed the place is talking about. They don't "state" or label anything as new or used. It's primarily a retro game store so most of the merchandise is used and the store owners went out of their way to make sure I knew what items were new and which were used. I had nothing but a good experience while I was there and I'll probably start hanging out there on a regular basis to play games since I live in the area. Highly recommended for anyone who likes to play games of any kind. read more

I love this place. Ty & Tony are great. They've got a good selection of MtG singles. Not much in the way of older stuff yet, but they're always buying collections and working their way backward, so it's always worth checking back. A lot of stuff in binders, unlike the other shops in the area, so perfect for people like me who like to browse IRL instead of online. They also buy and sell retro games and consoles. I paid for a box of MtG boosters with old ps2 games. Can't beat that. Their gaming room has plenty of space and always has events and stuff going on. Check 'em out. read more

I just started coming here a few months ago and each visit has been a wonderful experience. As the only place in my area that sells Games Workshop products I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of knowledge and experience they have in these games. On more than one occasion the staff has gone out of their way to help me, like in acquiring the very hard to obtain Warhammer End Times books and some old vintage models. They're very friendly and are always willing to go the extra mile so that I walk out a satisfied customer. Along with this they're also very active in other games such as Magic the Gathering and regularly hold events or just have tables set aside for people to come in and play a game on. So overall I give Tyton Games the highest rating possible. Great products, knowledge and customer service. Definitely the place to go if you're a gamer, whether it's tabletop, card or video games. read more

I just so happened to hear that a new retro game store opened up in Villa Park so I stopped in today to check it out. The store is on a busy road but there's plenty of parking around the corner side street. Tyton has modest collection of NES, Super Nintendo, N64, and Sega Genesis games and systems. Most of their games are priced at what you would see on eBay, but there are some good deals to be had if you sift through the games. The store and games were very clean and the staff was friendly. Also, i find it nice that all the games are wrapped in plastic with the price sticker on the plastic not the cartridge. I ended up trading in an NES console and a few games today and was offered a fair price. I will definitely stop by again. read more

I then took some of the money and spent back to purchase some of their NES games in stock. they have a lot of games to choose from. Store is clean and games worked well. First off I wish they were open on Sundays, but what are you going to do. I came here looking for old school gaming games and I was in heaven. I am what people call true gamers and when you walk in here that is that vibe you get that these people not only know what they are doing, they know their stuff. I came in here just to see how it was and I fell in love with it so much that I left with a Mario cart and a Nintendo 64. I have been looking into a Mario cart game for a while, but didn't want to spend that much money online and when I came here he offered me a combo deal that honestly was best priced around. I even told him to wait while I look and I ended up leaving with a my items. The only complaint I guess I have here is just on some items they are a little over priced, but I understand why on some not all but some. Keep it up guys.
