You can call and reserve it for a couple hours if you know what movie you want but you can't get there right away. They have a prepaid card deal where you get 11 movies for $25. It's a great bargain. I also like that they have in stock a pretty good selection of foreign and independent movies. It seems pretty small but if you are looking for an older or a somewhat unknown movie, you can just ask and they can check it in their system and there's usually a good chance they have it. They do keep older movie in a different location site, but if you call and ask (and they have it), they can have it ready to be picked up the next day. The owner is very nice. It's a great local shop that deserves our support and business!

Really? Let's get real here. This isn't Neiman Marcus. Never again. Avoid the game playing and incompetency of people who think you're naive because your son is selling his gaming system he never plays and just wants his own money for Christmas. I've been coming here for over a decade and this place is just top notch! They do everything and more. They offer one of the greatest selections of videos i've ever seen. But besides that they have great deals and even offer home delivery! Now I have yet to find a place that can beat their selection of movies but the games....99 cent video games. can I say WOW enough!?! Another nice thing is that they offer a service where they professionally repair scratched damaged discs. So you do not need to worry about getting a movie that will never work. But let me break down the best things about them... 1) When it comes to TV Shows...They rent them by the box - not the disc like the other stores. I use to have a Netflix account and swore I'd never rent from a store again until I walked in this store. THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO STORE! I bought my PS3 and was looking for some games and was told to try them out. I loved it here. To top all things they even carried Blu-Ray movies for my PS3 system so I was able to rent those too. No more waiting for my mailbox. They have a huge selection for a small store. Better then you'll ever find at blockbuster. Like the other post mentions they do deliver which is nice. But those TV Show box sets are awesome!!! No more waiting for the next disc to show up in the mail. You just pick up the whole season all at once for no extra charge. SWEEET! read more

Phenomenal, different accumulation of record and motion picture with sensible value, you can spend couple of hours in it in the event that you need to purchase back inventory gathering. One of the last incredible record stores in Chicago, their in-store exhibitions permit a close involvement with craftsmen and their staff are learned about the records in plain view. I use to go to Blockbuster on Archer & Ashland but the friendly service and good advice from Joe and his staff has sent me back to Video Strip. He has tons of TV series videos that you can keep for a whole week and if you ever have problems of anykind with the DVD's, they are there to help you. I leave one 1-star review in the middle of the night and within moments you respond with a passive aggressive essay. You already have five stars for your business and you immediately attack any 1-star reviewers like they personally insulted you. Ever hear of 'customer courtesy'? All you told me via email is that my order was cancelled. That's it. Depending on the buisness, an order can be cancelled but not refunded. All I wanted was clarification whether I was getting my money back or not. You NEVER RESPONDED. What was I supposed to assume? And what's that petty 1-star review comment? Should I have given you a higher rating? Why? I ordered an item, waited, asked for updates on the item's delivery, got my order cancelled, and never got a response afterwards. Does any part of that sound remotely pleasant? It honestly wasn't even that big a deal for me, but the fact that you replied within moments to me with an extremely petty essay means you MADE IT a big deal. Learn to take criticism. EDIT RESPONSE 2: "full of misleading and erroneous information". I accidentally said months instead of weeks. Nothing else was a lie. I didn't know I got my money back until I made a 1-star review on your comic shop. Once again, I asked via email to CLARIFY whether I got a REFUND or not. You NEVER replied to me. I only know now because I got a response from a business owner or manager who can't handle one ounce of criticism. "This is obviously "that big of a deal" for you, because here you are, almost 2 months later, well after you were refunded, denigrating a business that handled your mistake in minutes." I'm back 2 months later because I thought I should tell others about my experience. I saw how unprofessionally you respond to all other low rating comments. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that you would've changed and I wouldn't be screamed at for my review. But here we are. Your acting like I made a scathing review of your store that will make it fall into complete bankruptcy. I made one review saying I wasn't satisfied with your store, get over yourself. Once again, that is the MINIMUM of what you should do. If I go to McDonalds, order something, and there was a mistake of some kind, it's the MINIMUM of the McDonald employees to fix the mistake. You act like fixing a mistake should be seen as an outstanding achievement and not a standard business practice. On the right side are the more popular records that range from $20+ (also have plastic covers) and the CD selection. The guy that owns the store is very friendly. He was telling me that he has been at the location for about 8-9 years. What's really nice is that he looks at each record and cleaned them on this cool machine. Made the records look like new! I originally stopped in because it was recommended by Pinwheel Records, and I'm really glad I did. The shop has an incredible selection and the staff was extremely knowledgeable. Drew especially was fantastic to talk with. I asked about local Chicago music and he immediately had great recommendations and insight into the scene. One of the coolest things about the shop is that 606 has its own label, and I was able to pick up a limited release of Balance: A Compilation Without Boundaries -- featuring artists with parallels to the city of Chicago, experimenting sonically & balanced with music. You can tell this place genuinely cares about music discovery and supporting artists. Definitely worth a stop if you're digging around Chicago for records beyond the usual mainstream finds. I was traveling and like Pinwheel, 606 was also able to ship my purchases home for me. Shops like this proved to me the Chicago music scene is extremely vibrant!

I know, most now will read through Kindles and iPads, but old school reading is what makes us understand all that was in the past.
