I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the moving company I hired. During the move, the movers, who did not speak English, damaged my dresser. Despite this, I gave them a $100 cash tip due to their hard work in hot conditions. However, upon attempting to set up my Tempur-pedic bed, I discovered that the metal pieces attached to the frame were missing. I emailed the company but received no response. A week later, I sent a follow-up group text, threatening to report them to the BBB and leave a one-star review if they did not respond. Terrible services over payment issue. I purchased 3 hour move that went over 15 mins. Movers attempted to charge me for a full hour. When declining to pay for full extra hour, movers and supervisor became disrespectful. Granted $400 was paid more than the price given of 360, Movers left washer and dryer at the end of the road due to stating supervisor instructed them to do so. Let's not mention one of movers decided to take a crap in my restroom without permission. When asked why they could pull washer and dryer into garage as a courtesy for crapping in my bathroom, the mover declined. I proceeded to take a picture of the truck and movers for the driver (red) shirt try to hide and proceed to tell me "Fuck you" multiple times, then hopped in the moving truck and abruptly left. Disappointing experience from the start. I purchased a $125 Groupon for their services and thoroughly read all the fine print. I fully expected to pay additional fees for fuel and for being on the second floor, which was clearly outlined. However, when I called to confirm, I was told there would also be a standard $169 fee for "heavy items." I pointed out that the Groupon terms stated this fee only applies to items over 100 lbs. They responded that regardless of weight, they automatically charge $169 for moving items like TVs, beds, dressers, or mattresses. I asked--what's the point of hiring movers if those standard household items aren't included? They simply told me to contact Groupon for a refund. I did. I am not a customer, but this company moved a a neighbor out. In going to that neighbor's, the driver left the alley and left huge ruts in my yard. The driver did not come to me and say what he had done. Instead, he backed up, leaving ruts in my neighbor's yard, and drove off. If it had not been for Ring cameras and a helpful neighbor, we would have been left with a mystery and a torn up yard. After I talked to the company, they sent a crew, obviously not landscapers, to fill in the ruts. The ground is not level, the grass is still missing and the road and sidewalk are muddy messes. In response to the owners feedback, let's clarify. Your team only called my husband once, he was the one that had to reach out and follow up every other time. We were quoted the "new rate" which was still more in the end than what we would have originally paid with your professional moving team. I have your quote written down that was $100per hour either way. We had one Superman on the team and one lazy, rude, and worthless guy who is the reason it ultimately took over 6 hours to move everything. He would carry a small box down and need a 10 min phone break. Absolutely worthless!!!!! We loaded 90% of our belongings into the hall, feet away from the elevator before the team got there. From the elevator it's a 30ft walk to the truck outside. It took longer to load everything from the "4th floor apartment with an elevator" than it did to unload it in our 3rd floor apt with no elevator. You said on the phone that it would take less than 4 hours to move total. YOUR TEAM QUOTED ME THAT!!! It took over 6, so you can see where we're annoyed by having to pay extra for something we didn't even book. We had a 26ft truck and your guys put everything in one layer on the truck. Barely anything was stacked. Of course it's going to be full after only being half way through. The couches were thrown in crooked, tables literally shoved (multiple table legs broken, thank you), and boxes just thrown in wherever they land. There was no organization when they were putting things into the truck. I understand we might have had more than a typical 1 bed apartment but that truck had ample room for everything. We did not get what we paid for but that's on me for not signing any sort of contract. Since you wouldn't issue a refund, I reported you to Groupon and got my base fee back through there. You keep saying "you did nothing will I'll intent". Your "referrals" and "substitutes" don't seem to be doing you any favors so maybe get a new truck, you should have enough money since you don't issue refunds, and stand by your word for once. *** LONG POST MUST READ!!*** If I could give 0 stars I would!This company will damage your stuff and not pay for it! They are rude and unprofessional please use another company. I used TELEPORT MOVERS LLC- MICHAEL'S MOVERS on Friday, October 06, 2023, to move into my apartment. I also used this company to move out on July 15, 2023. I witnessed the mover (the guy with the cross tattoo on his neck) drop my counter-height stools causing scratches, and slam my TV stand causing it to crack and a hole in the back. My boxes were all messed up and smashed causing some of my dishware to break. My dresser drawer was scratched and the track came out. My bedframe also has a chunk missing out of the wood. In total, it was a total of $1,492 worth of merchandise that was damaged during the moves and all I asked was for them to fix my dresser or at least give me $200 to purchase a new one. In total, I paid them $320 plus a $30 tip (a deposit of $120 was paid through Zelle and the reminder $230 was in cash). I contacted them immediately after the mover left on October 06, 2023, letting the company know of the damages the representative got angry with me and hung up. I proceeded to call back twice and they sent me straight to voicemail and processed to text me asking for pictures of the damages. I provided pictures immediately and the rest on Saturday because they laid my mattress against my dresser. After not hearing back on that day (Saturday), the following business day (Monday) I went to both addresses that they had listed on their website and they were not at either location. I then proceeded to call and spoke with Linda who told me they were reviewing my case. She said it could take 3-5 business( from Saturday) days so I called back on Friday 13th, 2023 and they told me they could give me $40 because they sent a form that I signed saying that I was aware of the damage on my furniture which I was not aware that I was signing a document stating that. I informed Linda that both times they did not let me read the paperwork, go over the paperwork, they told me were signing as they were rushing and they also did not stay around to let me look at my furniture to report anything. I was initially told when they started the claim that they could see that they moved me in and out and had to figure out which mover was responsible. The manager at my new apartment recommended Michael's movers, she even said they had a Groupon. I called before I bought the Groupon and they got me set up for my move of my one bedroom apartment. The lady that helped was very thorough and got everything taken care of. The day of the move I had a 10am-1pm window, the movers called at 9:15am and let me know they were 30 minutes away. The two men were quick and efficient, wrapping up my furniture and taking care of all of my things. i was very impressed. Even with a 30 minute drive to my new apartment that was on the third floor, they finished in a little over 2 hours. Take pictures of everything and note every box. If you are unable to communicate with your movers BEWARE. If you have any issues, be ready. They broke furniture and ignored any fragile marking (piled many heavy boxes on a fragile marked box and ruined many framed pictures). They broke a piece of furniture and stated they would place a discount, but it was not place. To make it worse there was a lost box with value more than the price of the move and when confronted they said "We don't have the box and you signed the paper saying you checked the truck." I was never even mentioned to check the truck and the movers were clearly in a hurry (many boxes tumbled over in their cart while moving them). Do not sign anything without reading it! I have moved many times before and have never had such poor service. I found them on Groupon and chose to call them before purchasing. They were very pleasant on the phone so I was sure everything would go well. I let them know all of the furniture they had to move and booked me as a one bedroom move and said that I didn't need purchase the Groupon. On moving day, they asked if I could be flexible because they wanted to come earlier since they finished their last job so quickly. If anything this made me more confident that they would for sure finish the job in the two hour window I booked. There was an older man and then a young guy who looked no older than 16 ( I later learned that he was 21). I was confused but I didn't want to underestimate the young guy's abilities. After I showed them all the furniture that they had to move, the young guy called his boss to tell him that they couldn't do it in the two hours. I have moved with this furniture before, so I knew it was possible as it wasn't much. The young guy couldn't speak English so he put the boss, Roberto, on the phone for me to speak to him. I explained that it was not much furniture and that through a previous experience, my furniture was moved in under two hours. I'm not sure if he didn't realize he was still on speaker or that I understood Spanish, but he began speaking about me disrespectfully. I addressed it with him and eventually he apologized. Since I had to move out, I just wanted to proceed. Literally 30 minutes into moving, the young guy (I'll refer to him as YG) asks me how much time do they have left. You barely started, and you're wasting time asking me how much time is left in the two hour slot? He argues with me about when they started and I explain that they are wasting time! My mom asked him how long he had been moving with the business and he told her that he was just helping out. So this moving company sent me one professional mover and one family friend! I paid for two professional movers and that is not what I got. Then YG tells me there is no more room in the truck. I take a look in the truck and there is ample space left. He just didn't want to finish moving furniture because he was tired. Which makes sense since he is not a professional mover!!! We hadn't even approached an hour yet! I do a walkthrough and I had to tell YG to pack my desk and he told me they didn't have time. There was ample time left. Every five minutes there was a different excuse as to why they couldn't pack my furniture. It's unfortunate because the older gentleman was getting some things done. I got so tired of the complaining and them wasting my two hour slot, that I just let them start heading to the destination. A lot of my items were left behind. We finally head to the destination which was only a two minute drive. Again YG complains that my bed frame won't fit on the stairs. Literally after making one attempt, it smoothly makes its way upstairs. Before they take out my mattress and last few boxes, they ask for payment. I told them not until they finish the job. Of course then YG gets Roberto on the phone. We come to an agreement and I pay. I did notice that I sent a Zelle payment to a different company name Teleport Movers. I wish I hadn't paid because it turns out they fricken forgot pieces to my bed frame at the starting location! So I was left with furniture that was not put together at the destination, and leftover boxes at the beginning location. I have never had such a bad experience in my life. There were more things that I didn't even have the energy to write. I don't understand why people can't just be honest and send professional movers like what is advertised. These guys are super fast, but in their haste they either managed to improperly store my TV on the truck or damaged it somewhere during the moving process. Now I have a smart TV that has vertical busted pixels which is common because something hit it. As a result, I am going to have to buy a new TV. I probably should have known something was up given a normal move for me takes closer to 2-3 hours and they were done in 1.5 hours. The day of the move, I emailed them with a picture of the busted TV. After calling them at the end of the next day they requested a photo of the actual box to verify the issue. The person who I talked to (who I think is the owner) claimed they could not be responsible for the damage because the TV box is not damaged. Unfortunately, that's not how smart TVs work. Based on that logic, I could have easily damaged the box and showed negligence on their part and then they would have no argument against me. When I sent a photo of the box, the owner then noticed something black in the box. That was a piece of black cardboard which he thought (at least initially) was something which could have caused damage to the TV. Just because the box isn't damaged and secure in styrofoam, that doesn't mean something could not hit or or jam into the box either on the truck or moving it up the stairs. It doesn't take much for them have issues. Smart TVs are extremely fragile. I'm not positive but I believe I saw one of the movers carrying the TV over his shoulder in order to be faster instead of safe. That could be the issue or it was not secure in the truck itself. My sister did notice they initially set the TV down on its side instead of right side up, but that's obviously hearsay and I have no photo evidence to say otherwise. Other previous movers have safely moved this TV with the same box and styrofoam so I know it was safe to transport and worked just fine before. After talking on the phone a short time ago, they are not willing to compensate or do anything for me because they do not think they did anything wrong largely because there is no damage to the actual box. I specifically said I was not looking for full value of what I paid for the TV because it's not brand new, but at the very least is they could compensate me some given it did still have some value. I would have accepted a discounted or free move, but this company doesn't seem to care about the customer. It's all about bringing in the money at the fastest rate possible. Side note, they did ding one of my doors when moving furniture which I think I can retouch with paint but definitely adds to my point of not being cautious with items. I did not bring this up during the call because I consider it part of the moving process. They also left some moving blankets/covers at my apartment I know which are cheap, but I'm sure they didn't want to avoid losing them since I think they are a low budget moving company and everything adds to costs. I guess I can also count my blessings as my wooden work desk was not damaged (see photo) since it was half wrapped around the sides/edges but certainly not fully wrapped. I wish I would have taken a photo of the TV being wrapped only on the top using similar methodology but I have no way of disputing this without the photos. It just adds to my argument this company is about speed and not safety of items. I advise caution for anyone else using these guys as a service. They are super fast, but I don't think you can safely trust them with anything valuable or fragile. Hopefully this review finds other potential customers well and paints a full picture of this company. I guess I'm hoping and praying the company comes to their senses and realizes they did something wrong based on this review. I do not typically leave reviews on Yelp or anywhere else unless a company does a spectacular or really bad job. I believe this is my first Yelp review since I can't find a Google listing and I can't review them on Groupon where I originally found them since I didn't purchased their moving voucher. After reading other comments on more specific issues it sounds like the positive reviews had nothing fragile during their move, but when there are issues the company is 0 (and I do mean 0) help or willing to admit fault. UPDATE: In order to respond to owner's claims, it is important to let new and potential customers know how accurate my review is......because this could be you in the future. To start off with, customer service shows when owner decides to counterattack an accurate review and insinuate that the customer is lying. As someone who has worked in customer service in the past, what ever happened to "the customer is always right"? I'm not looking for a refund, or anything of the sort from Michael's Movers. A simple apology for damaging furniture and wood floor of new place would've been good enough. To begin with, when asked by Michael's Movers over the phone what size the move would be, it was clearly stated that it was for a 2-bedroom apartment. We listed in detail the items being moved, which included a washer and dryer, which we ended up selling before the move, so that reduced the number of large items. Due to staging of our condo to sell, we had most of our items moved months before from condo to storage and understood that the move would be double that of a normal move. This, and this only, was the reason for the tip, knowing it would take 2 movers a longer than usual time. Let me emphasize.....the amount of time it took to move our things from 2 different spots was NEVER an issue. So not sure why the owner is making a bigger deal of this. As far as wrapping our furniture by movers, this was NEVER OFFERED!! Not sure if the 2 movers wanted to rush, but it was never offered. Tables, bookshelves, writing desks and televisions were not wrapped and I was never asked. As far as wanting to upload recordings of phone calls on Yelp, I wish we could do that, because it would prove that owner never made me aware that I had supposedly rejected wrapping of furniture. I was present when he was put on speaker phone by his employee, and the wrapping of furniture was never even mentioned to them either, so how on earth would owner know that furniture was not wrapped before charging if he was not even there, or asked his employees of it?? Did I go over the documents I signed with a fine tooth comb? No I didn't, but this review is to give any potential customers a heads up to pay closer attention. Regrets, regrets, regrets. I would've given them 5 stars had it not been for them really jamming all of our furniture into their truck as much as they could, damaging our furniture in the process. They never wrapped our furniture in plastic and blankets as it was portrayed on the Groupon reviews. I wish my spouse and I would've checked our furniture when it was unloaded, but with it being a moving day, and having to tend to other things in the process, we didn't feel a need as we felt confident that they took care of our things. They made me sign about 5 documents in the beginning, indicating that they were not responsible for damages made to owner's belongings so I didn't bother taking it up with the owner. They are good, nice people but not efficient at all! They didn't give us an estimate before the move as promised. Something wrong happened to the truck during the noontime and it took them 1 hour to fix that issue. The time was not counted to my bill but they didn't even think of making it up to me for my own wasted time! They planned to finish my move before the afternoon since they told me they had another one scheduled in the afternoon but they had to cancel it because of the truck issue. So they either intentionally or not took the whole day to move my stuff! I don't know how efficient they are to others but not at all to my service! I know this is a very subjective judgment about speed. But I would say, don't risk it! The movers are nice people. I volunteered to offer them lunch (they kindly refused) and held the elevator to save time. If you are rich and don't care about the money, then I didn't see anything wrong or damage happening to my items. Maybe you can give it a try! This is the second year in a row that I've used these guys and the service was even better than last time! It begins even before they arrive. The lengths they go through over the phone to provide excellent customer service is outstanding! I was in a bind and needed to move quicker than expected. They were able to accommodate me despite their policy on "one week notice minimum". That alone was a life saver. As far as cost, everything is explained over the phone so there is no surprises with regards to money come moving day. If you're like me & just moving basic apartment furniture - and not like, a damn piano - then the price is PHENOMENAL for the service they provide. The guys themselves are great at their jobs. Scheduled my move over a month in advance, they followed up with me the day before the move to confirm I was still on for the love the next day and they never showed. My arrival window was 7-10am...then no showed. After 10:15 I called them and they told me their truck broke down and it would be fixed in 30-45 minutes. No follow up call as promised. So I called back again. Asked them to rent a truck or let me rent a truck and they gave me the run around. Ultimately they would not guarantee they would move me the next day so I had to find other plans. Very poor communication and service. I am so glad I chose Michael's Movers! First, my initial phone call was very informative, and I found them to be pretty transparent and keen to make sure all of my needs were met. These guys are the best! I booked them this week and they took the time during booking to get good information in order to give me an accurate quote that DID NOT change when the job was over. The movers were on time , wore masks the whole time, fast but careful. They loaded my 10x10 storage unit like champs; using way more of the space than I ever would have on my own! We found Michael's Movers on Groupon and saw that they had many good reviews so we decided to give them a try, this was a mistake. Don't let the good reviews fool you, you may end up with a crew that is lazy and damages your home. Let's start from the top. We had a time frame of 4-6 for move in with Michael's Movers. We reached out to Michael around 3 to let him know that our closing was running behind and asked if he could tell his guys to come closer to 4:30, to which he said yes (we thought this was a good sign and that he would be cooperative, we were so wrong). We texted him by 3:30 to let him know we finally got our keys and were ready whenever he was. He did not respond again until around 5:30 to say that his guys were finishing a job and would be there soon. His crew did not call us until 6:15. When they called they said they were 15 minutes away. At 6:45 they called us again and said they were now 10 minutes away (even though it was well past the 15 minutes from their first call). They finally arrived at 7:10 and were not wearing their masks. Michael had assured us several times prior that his crews were all being very safe and wearing masks for every job, this crew was not. We had to ask them several times throughout their job to wear their masks properly. One of the guys asked me if we had a washer/dryer to move in and I said yes so he had me sign a form saying that if they had to move it upstairs that they might damage the walls (which is crazy because if you do your job diligently you should never hit any walls to begin with). Luckily I told him the washer/dryer goes downstairs, but I still had to sign the form anyway. Now they were finally ready to get started. Before I headed into my home the movers told me that they would only move the heavy things or things in boxes and that I would have to be responsible for moving in everything else (which again is crazy because we are paying to have MOVERS MOVE stuff in for us). They then proceeded to THROW small things in bags out of our storage Pod and on to the street. They threw our rug in the grass. They threw picture frames and prints on the floor, damaging and bending some. My fiancee was inside watching them and noticed they were putting all of our boxes in one room, she asked if they could put the boxes in the rooms in which they were labeled (i.e. kitchen, master, living, etc.) and they told her NO. They said they would bring them all into 1 room because it is faster. Okay, but we are PAYING you to move the boxes where we want them to go??? And we are PAYING you for 2 hours worth of work (which they only stayed for 1, so they had plenty of time to move them to the correct locations). Now the best part, they were moving our couch in and one of the movers caught our blinds with the couch and broke the blinds. This is a brand new house, brand new blinds, and within 2 hours of us living their our movers had already broken a part of it. THEY DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE CLEARLY BROKEN BLINDS. They continued as if nothing had happened until we went after them and told them this was unacceptable. The mover then said "I told you at the beginning that these 'little' dents and dings happen." To which I replied "this is not little, you broke our blinds." He then called Michael to see how to proceed. My fiancee was also texting Michael to inform him of what happened and tell him that we expect him to pay to replace our BRAND NEW blinds. Michael was unwilling to work with us on this matter at all. He took the word of his guys over ours completely (what ever happened to the customer is always right?). He said that his guys told me stuff like this happens all the time (it should not happen if you are professional, you should not come in to our house and break things without offering to replace them). He then said his guys told him the "hallway was too narrow and that's why this happened" which is a complete lie because the blinds are at the widest part right after the hallway opens up, they had already gotten through the "narrow" part. It happened because the movers were careless. After much back and forth Michael finally said that he would give us FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS off our total to compensate for the blinds. My fiancee looked up the price of our blinds and found that they are $65. Michael refused to give us that much to replace what his men broke but finally agreed to $10 dollars off. This was just completely ridiculous after all the wrongdoings of his movers. We should have gotten a full refund for the terrible job they did. I would 100% NOT recommend these movers. If I could give them zero stars I would. TL;DR--Movers reluctantly put on masks and needed reminding constantly to wear them correctly, threw our small things in our yard and made me move them in, did not put boxes in the rooms they were supposed to be in even though they had plenty of time to, broke our blinds and refused to compensate us for the damage. read more

I had previously used Michael's Movers back in 2020 and had a positive experience. However, this time around the experience was very different. I was sent a crew of three individuals. One individual was an adult male named Hector, the other two looked like teenagers and between the two, one was a young ~18 year old female. While I was leading them to the unit, the men were walking behind me. I heard them talking in Spanish and speaking about a woman in a degrading way, making sexual comments. They did not realize I speak and understand Spanish. I am not sure if they were talking about me or someone else but as a woman, I felt extremely uncomfortable in that moment. I made the horrible mistake of ignoring the comments and led them to the unit. The man Hector started with the couches but made the mistake of setting my couch upside down on the hallway tile FLOOR in front of the elevator while it was UNWRAPPED. I told him "could you please wrap the furniture?". He proceeds to ignore me and continues going about his job. I repeat it a few more times and then finally say "are you listening to me?" in both Spanish and English. He says "I don't need you to tell me how to do my job. You could've said it nicely." At this point, my couches are still in front of the elevator unwrapped on the DIRTY FLOOR and another piece of it is inside a box in the elevator, unwrapped. They were leaving my things completely unattended inside the elevator. Also boxes that were not yet taped shut with valuables, were left unattended inside the elevator while people were using it. My brother in law also asked Hector to wrap the furniture and Hector proceeded to say that "he knows what he is doing" but was not wrapping the couches or responding to our requests. At this point, I was worried a verbal or violent altercation would start with me or my family as Hector's face was red and he looked visibly angry. I called the owner to complain about the entire situation and told him his employee was showing hostile behavior for simply asking him to do his job. I asked him to either send me someone else or give me a discount. In addition, I let him know that the employee was playing loud music from his phone while doing his job and did not take criticism well. The teenage boy was also taking personal calls while on duty and moved extremely slow. The owner gives me a call back after talking to Hector and blames the situation on me saying I was aggressive and to let him "do his job". His employee lied and completely changed the narrative and his boss believed him. At this point, I am LIVID. If I see my furniture on the dirty floor, unwrapped and my valuables unattended in an elevator, I WILL SPEAK UP as I paid a lot of money for this SERVICE. The movers did not even complete their job. They left after 3 hours and did not set up my bed or couch, did not take off wrapping from the mirrors, and did not take 5 boxes as they did not finish. It should not have taken that long to move someone from a one bedroom apartment to another complex within walking distance. They didn't even use the moving truck and were still unable to finish the job. The boys are also thieves who charged me $45 for having to use the stairs when the image below states the 3rd floor is actually only $35. They moved really slow and after the incident, it honestly seemed like they moved even slower on purpose. The young girl, Alejandra, was actually the most respectful out of all of them but the other two boys made me feel uncomfortable from their sexual inappropriate comments to their hostile behavior when presented with criticism. If you're a young female, I would not recommend having Hector as your mover. I did not get the other teenage boy's name but please do not book these services. The experience was horrible and made an already stressful situation even worse. I worried for my safety after seeing how hostile and aggressive Hector reacted to wrapping my furniture, a simple request for a service I am PAYING for. In the past, Michaels Movers completed the entire move from start to finish in 3.5 hours even with having to drive a 30 minute distance. This past experience was honestly alarming and leads me to believe background checks are not being done on these individuals. Also, that they are just looking to hire cheap labor hence the teenage kids including a young barely 18 year old female. read more
