Have you ever paid $370 to move from a 1bdrm to another 1bdrm in the SAME complex? Well I did. I was quoted $175 for a 2hr mininum job and paid my $100 deposit. The day of moving, I got a text that said they were going to $75 more because my couch bad to be taken down ONE flight of stairs which i already disclosed when I got my quote. After going back and forth they waived since $75 wasn't in my quote During the move-in, I was told I owed the remaing $75 + $175 because it's $175/hr! Despite what I was told over the phone, I indeed missed an email stating it was $175/hr 2hr minimum which makes no sense I have never in my life paid over $180 for a move-in and even those included loading and unloading and this move did not. Mike, the manager/owner said no movers would ever do it for that low of an amount. Mike became unprofessional, yelled and threatened to send his crew home even though my items were literally in the hallway, on the elevator and outside my door. I have a video that shows how they left items in the elevator w/o supervision as if the other mover was a drive thru picking up boxes at the speed of light. I have a video of me moving my own items so that they wouldnt be stolen, Mike had me move 6 chairs that were on the quote because his crew was tired and it was getting late, which means they didnt even move everything they were supposed to and i basically overpayed. My contract says their arrival window was from 8-10am, which then changed to 11-3. They did show up until 5:30pm!!!!! After being charged the remaining balance on my card and the rest in cash, including a tip, I was charged a miscellaneous fee of $20.50! This is a horrible company!!! Worst move ever!! Not at all surprised they weren't up for the work physically. 3. The refrigerator was not set up. My husband had to do that. Beware a service that says all fees in the rate. Bad experience after the move. Had All My Sons booked for a March Move. When they called to confir, they stated additional fees, fuel fee and tariff totaling $200 more than the original quote. Called around the block Movers, and they said all fees in the hourly rate. That is not true. I found out that when I got my receipt for a second move with them in April, they charged a 3% credit card processing fee. When I booked the move, they required a credit card deposit. No mention of the fee. When I get my receipt, there is the added on fee. It is in writing on the receipt. They said they would have taken cash after I paid by credit card. When I told them how much I tipped their movers, they laughed. They told me to complain to the credit card company. I guess them laughing and telling me to call their credit card processing company if I did not like the fee was what made upset enough to write this review. Beware movers who say all fees included. Disappointed in not only the service but the follow up resolution to our experience with Around the Block Moving. The two movers that were sent were nice, but didn't seem very knowledge or capable to complete the task. They applied tape to finished surfaces of multiple pieces of furniture instead of using cellophane which then damaged the furniture. Additionally they broke several drawers on dressers and chests after they were told they should not be removed. They were removed and broke the slide guides. I would be more understanding if this wasn't followed by months of trying to get someone on the phone, including being hung up on and calls screened to voicemail, to find resolution. Finally was told since we didn't buy the extra insurance they were not responsible. This damage wasn't just scratches and dings from moving that insurance would cover. This was caused by easily avoidable negligence then paired with poor customer service. Where do I start? These guys were amazing! I called around looking for the the best movers when my husband and I planned our move for the middle of May. Around the Block Moving provided a completive but affordable price and an outstanding BBB rating. Plus, they have been in business for over twenty years. I knew that these were my guys. When I called to set up the move, I worked with Suzette. She was wonderful. When I expressed initial interest, she made sure to follow up. However, my only compliant about Around the Block Moving, was that the week of the move, I had to initiate the verification. When I called on Monday (the move was on Thursday) they assured me that someone would call me on Tuesday. When I hadn't heard from anyone on Tuesday, I called again on Wednesday and made sure that everything was good to go. Jonathon and Brandon were the movers that assisted us the day of the move. We moved from a third floor apartment (sorry guys!) to a first floor apartment. They hustled and did this move in 3.5 hours! But just because they moved quickly does not mean that they were carless with our belongings. Jonathon and Brandon took very good care of our things and made sure that everything arrive in one piece. Nothing was broken and I felt like a valued customer. I would highly recommend Around the Block Moving and Jonathon and Brandon for anyone making any sort of move. Given the chance to do this again, I would not use ATB, but they DID move my stuff. I made a reservation for movers over a week in advance for Saturday, 8-9 am, knowing that one truck was out of service and that I may have to move my appointment. I was called early in the week of the move and told that the truck wasn't back yet, and we needed to move the appointment as expected. We settled on Friday at 3-4 pm. They worked with my girlfriend, were accommodating, etc. No problems here. Great communication. Note: They don't charge gas fees, but do charge for "travel time" to and from shop. No way to confirm actual travel time, completely up to the driver. Problems start here: Two days before the move, I get a call confirming my appointment for Friday from 12-1. When I explained that I was supposed to be from 3-4 pm and that I had meetings moved around so I couldn't make the 12-1, I was told "I don't know what to tell you. You're on the board for 12-1." We went back and forth and eventually he told me, "I'll see what I can do." Eventually, magically, I got my 3-4 slot back. In hindsight, this is a great way for moving companies to switch up their appointment times to fill their day - I just wish I had been given the option and not been told "your problem, not ours." On the day of the move, I got home at 2:45. No sign of movers by 3:30, so I gave the company a call. They were embarrassed (good sign!) and said they'd get back to me. They called back shortly and said that the movers were caught on a job about 45 minutes away and it would be 5:30-6 pm until they showed up. I asked for a discount, "no way; out of our control, happens all the time." Agreed to 5:30-6. Got a call about 5 saying it was going to be 6:30-7. Got a call around 6:30 saying it was going to be 7:30 or 8. No compensation/discount/refund. I'm sitting in my apartment on the floor. 7:30, movers finally arrive. Begin complaining about last job, my job is going to be so easy, etc. etc. etc. I very carefully showed them a piece of furniture, explaining it was fragile, it was heavy, I would be checking it after the moved, etc. They said "No problem, don't worry about anything, we pay for damages." They move all my stuff. Don't bother marking boxes "fragile" or "this side up" - they're going to move them however they want. Everything gets thrown in one big cart (HOWEVER it will "fit") and taken to the truck. When they unloaded my furniture, I checked the piece, and sure enough, there was a nick in the finish in wood. After the movers completed moving boxes, which I helped them with, I showed them the damage. We went from "we'll take care of you" to "we've been busting our ass for you, cut us a break." I was yelled at by both movers, one of them was a little in my face. I don't think I saw this part in the papers I signed. I contacted their office sales manager, told her the situation, told her I would sign for the move, but not to charge my card until this had been resolved. I also told her that if they did, I would reject the charge on VISA and her reply was "okay that's fine we'll take care of it." Spoiler alert: they charged my card right away. I contacted them the next week to resolve the issues, and no matter my suggestion, they weren't willing to completely solve the problem or partially refund me. I've been accused of lying by both managers at this point, and they're 100% unwilling to help me out. I have recorded audio and photos, and they don't care. I informed her that I would contact the BBB and reject the charge with VISA. She hung up on me. Bottom line on 2 stars: They moved my stuff from A to B. Most of it stayed intact, they weren't wiling to own up to the damage they did do. They're pretty hostile if you have a problem. If you shut up and leave them alone, they'll do their job however they want. read more

They arrived early (what, what?!) and ready to work. We moved from a 2nd floor apt and storage unit to a 3 story townhouse, and they handled it like it was nothing. This was my first positive experience with a moving company in the 10 years I've lived in Dallas, and I've moved more times than I can barely count on two hands. Moving from a 2nd floor 2-bd apt. into a 3rd-floor 10X15 storage unit was not going to be an easy task, but these guys did it as if they did it all the time. They were: 1) Punctual. (They even showed up slightly ahead of schedule) 2) Efficient Use of Time. Most movers tend to do more talking on their cellphones on-the-clock than moving furniture. The 2 guys who showed up to move all my junk did the work of 3-4 men in around 2.5 hours. 3) Went Above & Beyond. When I couldn't move my 8-ft Japanese Ficus into the storage unit, they offered to make an extra stop and carried it up 3 flights of stairs (the elevator was out of order) to where I was staying, without me having to ask them and without an extra charge. They also helped arrange everything into storage unit for easy access, stacked bottom to top, from heaviest to lightest. This went way above and beyond expectations! 4) Professionalism. Did not break or otherwise damage a single item. Enuf sed. 5) Price-worthy. With tip and total for 2.5 hours it worked out to be around $300. Sometimes you can find a 10% off coupon stuck in your door every time and again. I would definitely use this company again for any local move. read more

These guys have become my Go To Moving Company! They have moved me three times now and it was a pleasant experience with each move. They show up on time, are courteous and show great care with my antiques and fragile items. I have a large home and they completed the job in a very timely manner. After the move was over they even gave us a nice new home gift of a Pink Coffee mug (they support breast cancer awareness) and a new key chain. A few weeks later I also received a thank you note! The movers did an Outstanding Job!!! This company uses untrustworthy or illegal tactics to over charge their customer's. This company starts billing you before the workers arrives or move any of your items. This company charges customer's when their workers depart from their warehouse!!! Wrong on so many levels!!! They allow you to pay your deposit via Apple Pay and tell you that you can pay the final balance upon completion of the move!!! Customer's not aware but when workers arrive they request your bank card information or credit card information as your deposit was paid via Apple Pay via invoice sent from the company. Instead of sending you a final invoice for payment. They then charge you $22.50 fee to pay your balance on top of the balance with out the Apple Pay option!!! I'm totally displaced and displeased with the company gimmick and unfair practices. Consumers please be aware of scams and gimmicks as unfair practices could compromise your financial security. One of the worst experiences ever... The guy never diclosed that it would have taken the movers 20 minutes to do paperwork which was never disclosed in the original conversation. ....they took their sweet time to do the move.. I had to move Furniture my damn self because two guys decided to move a piece of furniture that my 3 yr Old son could move by himself... They seem to be trumping up the bill by taking they're dear ol time. If i hadn't move half the shit outside the damn apartment for them to take to their truck God knows how Fucking long they would have taken. In the end i was able to move only half because i feared if i had them move the other furniture I might have needed a Loan to pay these guys.. Very VERY Poor and Unsatisfactory SERVICE. When I booked these movers I spoke to Mike and was quoted a per hour fee. He made no mention of the fact I would be charged 20 minutes for the movers to drive the 2 miles from their warehouse, both when they arrived and when they left for a total of 40 minutes. They also took 20 minutes to do paperwork before leisurely beginning. So I paid for a full hour, $95 to do paperwork and for them to sit in the truck. I moved from a ground floor apartment to a third floor apartment thus the reason I wanted movers. The movers I had were Trey and Stacy, they were nice but enjoyed talking about how fast they were working while moving extremely slow. At the ground floor apartment I moved about 1/4 of the stuff to the truck. I moved chairs, bags, and all kinds of random stuff. And loaded my car full of things as well. I moved 1mile down the road and once we got there to unload they really slowed down. They would make one trip every 10-12 minutes. I finally had to tell them that I couldn't keep paying their hourly charge. So they took 30 minutes to simply unload the boxes from the truck and my girlfriend and I carried them up the stairs. It had only taken us 40 minutes to load the entire truck with furniture and everything in the first place. My girlfriend and I carried up all of our boxes in the amount of time it would have taken them to make 3 or 4 trips. Anytime they had to carry something up the stairs together they would set it down and argue about the best way. The stairs leading up to my apartment have to be the easiest stairs to navigate. So basically I paid over $300 to be able to almost move myself. I think my girlfriend moved more stuff into our apartment than trey and Stacy combined. They also kept trying to sell me a washer and dryer that they had supposedly been given, talk about unprofessional. Don't bother with this company, you will spend way way more money than needed. I should have gone with the company that was going to charge a flat rate for the entire move. I would have paid the same amount of money and not have had to move most go my stuff. read more

Initial impression with this company was fantastic. They were extremely friendly on the phone. Suziette who booked me was extremely friendly and accommodating. The process of booking was a breeze. When it came to moving day it was a different story. I was scheduled to move between 12 and 1. 1 O'Clock came and I still had not heard anything. I had to reach out to them to get a status. Unfortunately the office isn't in contact with the drivers. The driver finally called me around 1:45 saying they wouldn't be there until 2:30. However they had a blowout on the highway, which is unfortunate, however the lack of empathy by management is even more unfortunate. They declined my request for a discount for inconvenience and management refused to speak to me putting Suziette in an awful position. The refused to adjust their schedules to accommodate, instead they just told me I'd have to wait until they could get to me and gave me an ETA of 5pm. Managements refusal to offer an concession as well as their refusal to speak directly to me is inexcusable. I called another company and they were able to accommodate me on their schedule at 4pm. The management team here needs to remember what it is like to be a customer, maybe then their customer service will improve to a serviceable level. read more

Used this firm in late July 2016... I had numerous issues with them that the Manager, Mike, refuses to address/fix. They are as follows: * Bid my job significantly lower than the final price. I have experience in the moving business and was very detailed upfront on the specifics of the move. He was going to take a percentage off my move for this issue but refused to do so because I used a coupon. * Pieces of bookshelf missing... After much prodding, they fixed it. However, when they did, clothing items that were in the vicinity are now missing. I have emailed Mike multiple times on this with no response. * New dryer was damaged. Mike assured me this would be fixed, but eventually emailed me saying I needed to do it. He will not respond to my emails that this is NOT my responsibility. * The one time I got to discuss my complaints/concerns over the phone with him, he became very hostile and aggressive to me. There were some nice crew members and I tipped them generously. If Mike/ATB corrects this situation, I will update my post. Just called Mike to get resolution as he hasn't returned multiple phone calls or emails. He threatened me on the phone and was extremely hostile and violent towards me. NEVER use this moving company. We used this same company in 2013. When we called for a moving quote, they quoted 3 hours at $125 an hour. This was in line with our previous experience and we booked their service. They showed up for the move for the 1 bedroom, 900 sq ft apt and 7 hours later (2 pieces of broken furniture) finally had the truck loaded. Upon arrival at the final destination, they told my daughter she had to pay $1000 before they would unload the truck. If she did not pay, they would drive away with her furniture on the truck. She was alone with these two movers. She called me, her mother, and I called the owner. He apparently thought 7 hours was appropriate for the loading time and threatened to have my daughter arrested for nonpayment if the money was not received. He was yelling on the phone and threatening not only to call the police but his lawyer if she did not pay. I am sure he has intimidated many young women with these unethical business practices and that is exactly how they steal people's money. The total cost for the move was $1225. She was so uncomfortable that the movers kept asking her if there was anything else and kept standing around waiting for a tip, she did tip them so they would leave. Please do not use this company; you just cannot rely on them and they are very unprofessional. I had a reservation for 12-1, but they just did not show. I called and Suzette said the office forgot to write it down, and had me at 3-4. Around 2 o'clock, Suzette said actually it would not be until 5-6. That would not work for us, so they rescheduled for 8-9am the next day. But they did not show. I waited for an hour again before calling. Suzette said she did not know, but would get back to me. I called again 1hr later and she said they wouldn't work in the rain. 10 moving companies in Dallas all told me they were working in the rain, and some even suspected Around the Block was jerking me around. I would have loved to go with those companies, but because of the late notice, they were all booked. People who are moving depend on moving companies to keep their word. My whole family had to rearrange my Mother's birthday plans, dentist appointments, and so many other things because of how ATB kept changing the time on us. It is inexcusable. read more

I had a two bedroom small apartment with a queen bed, king bed, IKEA dresser and small dining table, a couch and about 10-15 medium sized boxes. They send two guys over who literally took 8-9 hours to complete the move 20min down the road. Most of the time wasted was due to their choice of walking down a long hallway to use the slow elevator, drop off everything outside the elevator, then load the elevator with a few things, go down one floor, unload those items, go back up and repeat. This was their alternative to simply walking down a shorter hallway to use the stairs to go down one floor straight to their truck. They charged $1000 and added a fuel surcharge because the delivery ended after 9pm (or 10pm, w/e). They started at 2pm. I could've done the move using camels in less time, including the time it takes to pick up their excrement along the way. They refunded me $100 for my complaint to the owner/manager and still maintain their "expert" movers always choose the best strategy when it comes to stairs vs elevator. Note that this move happened two years ago but is still fresh in my mind. I just had to write about it because every time I see one of their trucks on the road I feel another guy is getting screwed over every day. This was the worst moving experience that I have ever had. In fact, the first time I filed a claim with a mover. I was told that I was trying to scam them over a new 60" television and a tear in my daybed. When I said the team did not use moving blankets I was called a liar. They cost more than anyone I have used before with the poorest results. They wanted me to p=ovide pictures of the move. I will next time with a more professional company. My husband and I drove a 26' truck from Maryland to Texas. We do not have any contacts here in Texas, so we "googled" movers and took a chance. We hired ATB Moving to offload the truck once we arrived at our new home. Our movers were Chris and Austin. They did a tremendous job. The truck was unloaded quickly and our furniture assembled promptly. I was very impressed! I called the office just to let the supervisor know how satisfied we were with the service. The cost was reasonable. When we purchase our new home here in Texas, we will DEFINITELY call ATB for that move as well. read more

Update: since posting this review I have been contacted by Suzette at ATB moving. She's now threatening to take me to court. I want to inform you of my experience with Around The Block Moving. I have never written a review like this before, but figured it was time to start after the way they conducted themselves during and after my move. I am not naïve enough to say that this is how your experience will be if you use them for your move, but this is what happened to me, and I think it says a lot about their integrity as a company. I called and spoke to Suzette who gave me a quote and scheduled my move with no issues. The morning of the move the Trey and Freddie showed up, and they were nice enough guys. Everything was going good until I came back in the house and Trey pointed out to me that a chair was broken. I had been moving some misc items into my own car so I wasn't inside when the chair was broken. I don't think Trey broke it because Freddie had been working in that area so my assumption was that he broke the chair, but again I didn't see it with my own eyes so I can't say for sure. What I can say for sure is that the chair wasn't broken when the guys arrived. I asked Freddie what happened and he denied breaking the chair so I immediately called Suzette. She asked if I bought additional insurance and I said no, because I wasn't told that I could. A few minutes later I came out to my car again and noticed that Trey was messing with the chair on the truck. He had tried to glue the chair back together and clamped it with some tools he had on the truck. Personally I wouldn't be trying to fix something I "didn't" break without talking to the owner. Keep in mind that this is a pretty hard to find chair from a hand made dining room set that he is gluing together in the back of his truck. Suzette called me back and said that without having purchased the additional insurance there was nothing she could do. I told her this was really unfortunate and that I was going to write them a very honest review if they didn't resolve the issue. Suzette called back to say that she had spoken to the owner and he authorized her to reimburse me up to $500 for the repair or replacement of the chair. I couldn't find a replacement for the chair online without buying an entire set ($1,800) so I got an estimate for repair and left it with the repair company (Elite Furniture Repair). The cost to repair the chair was $189 which is well under what I knew she was authorized to pay me so I didn't think we would have an issue. I called Suzette to let her know that I had left the chair and that I had an estimate that I was ready to send her. She then informed me that they had spoken to Trey and gotten new information and that they would not be paying for the repair. I was pretty frustrated at this point so I told her I was going to write the review and be done with the situation. She said "give me 48 hours and I'll talk to the owner one last time and see what we can do". 72 hours later I hadn't hear back so I called Suzette to see what was going on. She said verbatim "I didn't know if you were just going to go away because sometimes customers just let it go". She once again informed me that they would not pay for the repair of the chair so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will attach the response from Around The Block Moving on sites that provide the option. The gist of it is that they called me a liar, attacked my personal character, and said that I had threatened to defame their company, and that they would sue if I wrote a review. Somehow telling Suzette I was going to write an honest review just became defamation. The bottom line is first, know that you have an option to purchase additional insurance even though they probably will not tell you that. Second, know that if something happens and you don't have the insurance they are not going to do the right thing. I offered them a chance to make it right for far less than what they said they were willing to pay and they still didn't do the right thing. I just want you guys to be informed. I'll be moving forward with my complaint with Better Business Bureau for whatever it's worth, but I'm sure that it won't make a difference. Moving is the absolute worst. When you pack yourself with boxes that you got for free and are 100% over it all, having two very nice very strong men arrive to move everything is an absolute dream come true. Chris and Andy arrived right on time and were able to move my magnitude of poorly packed extremely heavy boxes within the estimate of 3 hours that I was quoted. Pricing was in the middle of what I was quoted from other companies but I chose around the block because friends recommended it, pricing was fair and I didn't have to worry about additional fees for stairs or things of that nature AND I was impressed with their sales coordinator (Suzanne?). She was informative, to the point, professional and responsive. I can't say that i had any experience with ATB. They didnt even call. We had a move scheduled for a Sunday with a window of 12-1. 2:00 came and know one called us back until an hour later to only give us another window. My sister and just called another company and magically thats when ATB called to ask if we still needed a move. We told them no and they still came anyway but only to be nosey. We called and left message after message and they never responded. No sir, won't do it again. read more

These guys used to be pretty good but have gone down hill. A good portion of my stuff was broken when it arrived at the new place. I really liked the way Trey and Freddie put me on a guilt trip after tipping them $100 stating that they were losing money on this move and trying to pry me into giving the a larger tip. I would not recommend these guys as they are unprofessional and driven by greed. I have pulled my business and recommend that you do the same. read more
