Between Home Depot and Michael's, I can pretty much build anything I can possibly imagine. I usually love this place because they have EVERYTHING. The problem arose when I got a nice "40% off your entire purchase" coupon in the mail. "Woohoo," I thought to myself and off I went on a spree. I got there and loaded up on items, but when it came time to ring up, cashier said "This is only supposed to be 40% off ONE item," which wasn't what the coupon said. She made no effort to correct this. The monetary difference wasn't big, but bait-and-switch is a no-no in my book. Sorry Michael's - you've lost a loyal customer. read more

Though this is conveniently located near a lot of office parks, I wouldn't suggest this place for a quick stop-in on your lunch break. You can get lost easily in this store and there is a whole other slow paced crafter lifestyle out there that just doesn't mesh with my 60 minutes to eat/drive/shop allotment. The layout is hectic and you end up sweeping all the aisles looking for the most random stuff. I can understand from a crafter's perspective why they arrange it by project, but I am the kind of shopper where I need an all things scissors/cutting aisle and an all things tacky (as in glue) aisle. read more

I used to be really into art so I would always go to Michael's to buy paint and brushes. That phase ended in my life but I still love coming here with my mom to buy yarn (she's only 43 but she always made my brother and I scarves and blankets when the winter season came when she didn't want to leave the house). I used to think Michael's was expensive but as I've grown up I think the prices here are very decent compared to those full on art supply stores. Those prices are ridiculous! Michael's has a little bit of everything and I really like that. One of my best friends loves to scrapbook so we always go to Michael's for really nice paper and adorable scrapbook stickers. I also buy my niece stickers from here. My aunt spend a ridiculous amount on framing also. I love the seasonal decorations they have here too! They always have cute decorations for low prices. I bought star shaped lights one year after the holidays to put in my room and the employees gave it to me as a clearance price for only $2! I'm definitely down. read more

Really slow service. There was a huge line in front of a cashier and she didn't know to call someone else to open another new line to ring up the customers. Maybe she needed more training. I agree with other reviewers that you just have to be ready to be patient while in line... Never ever ever buy anything full price here LOL. They have coupons EVERY week and there are plenty of ways to get them: 1. Sunday newspaper 2. Whenever you buy an item here, they usually give you a coupon for the following week 3. If you subscribe to their email list, they email you coupons every week 4. Google it online lol 40% off item of your choice, 50% off item of your choice, 10 - 30% off your entire purchase, etc etc. This Michaels is at a great location, it's near my house, huge parking spot, friendly staff, what more can you ask for? I would highly recommend taking classes here. I took 2 Wilton cake decorating classes and it was so much fun. This is one of the smaller Michael's that i've been too. But i end up coming to this one the most cause it's the closest to my house, and location is always key. I got a lot of my scrapbooking stuff here, and a lot of my cross stitching. You can view the smaller selections in two ways. Negative: cause there's not so much to chose from, and they might not have what you are looking for. Or Positive: WOOT at least my wallet will stay full. Whenever i come here, i always walk out with something. i kno..it's an addiction. I usually end up spending about 50-100 dollars here. i dont really kno on what... Right now, they are remodeling the place to look more like the modern michaels, so it's tough to go there and find what you're looking for. One thing that does suck is that there aren't that many staff members, so there are times you are looking for them to help you and the lines can get pretty long. If ur a hard core crafts person, this place can probably fill a void, but not for long, you'll end up wanting more..but for a beginner or if you know what you are looking for, this place can be a great start. read more

Right now (July 30th) they're doing a clearance sale! A lot of things like stickers, scrapbook material, and charms are only a dollar. They also have things that are 30-60% off no coupon needed. A neat thing about Michaels is that whenever you buy something they give you a 40% off any 1 regular priced item. You can just buy a candy bar for 50 cents and get that coupon. The coupon can not be used the same day though. I believe all coupons are on a weekly cycle. read more

Came in for last minute supplies for a project that's due tomorrow morning. It's hard to not get lost in Michaels with the isles and end caps having big promotions going on all the time. I always tell myself I only need a couple of items and it ends up being a basket full. Walking aimlessly in the rows they were all in stock and organized. The new location is easier to see when it's next to PetSmart! After grabbing all the supplies I needed the cashier who helped us was super friendly and energetic! I love her optimistic personality and wish I got her name i couldn't find it in the receipt but this was 3/13/19 around 8:30-8:35pm(closing time) was with my boyfriend and I checking out. This won't be the last time I'll be here and having to join their reward system saves you TONS of money to buy more items you'd like to do for your hobby or for a craft! What I most like about their store is they have bulks of the same item you can bring back home to share with friends or help out a teacher in need! I've shopped at numerous Michael's over the years and this one is my favorite one! I was recently there a few days after Christmas to start on a new craft project and was not sure where anything was since none of the items were products I have shopped for before. Lupe was busy stocking product however each time I would find her to ask where a certain item was she was very helpful and always walked me over to the product instead of saying "it's on aisle.....". I was looking for a certain type of paper that I was not able to find anywhere and was about to give up and go to another Michael's store when she was able to ask someone on her team and came back and found it for me! Even for the double sided tape I was not able to find in the glue/tape section so she walked me over to the gift wrap area and showed me where to find the product. This location is rarely out of stock on anything I need and even when there are not too many staff available the ones that are often take the time to help out which is very welcome and appreciated! read more

The store is okay but the women's restroom is absolutely disgusting. Ants on the toilet, the floors and toilet bowls have clearly not been wiped in a long time. Just caked on grime. Way worse than any gas station bathroom I have ever been in and the employees signed off on the bathroom cleaning chart! Ridiculous! read more

I've visited this Michael's on a few occasions, looking for crafts and items related to my hobbies. This store has decent selection and is in a great shopping area (McCarthy Ranch). I found the cashier to be very helpful and friendly. Tip: DON'T FORGET to google search "Michael's Coupon" and print one off before shopping. It'll save you $$$, and when you check out, your receipt will have another 40% off coupon, and you can can use that for your next purchase, get another receipt, and so on... who doesn't like to save money?? :) read more

I like Michaels, most of the stores I have been to have tons of stuff for crafting at really good prices, and coupons are always available. This Michaels has a good stock and is always clean. I'm giving it two stars because so far I have only experienced one very nice employee. The people who work there are just not nice. If you go in there 15 minutes before they close be prepared to be told that the store will be closing in *such and such minutes* *personally* over and over again every few minutes by *the same employee*. In most places I have worked that behavior will get you written up. I don't know, maybe the company is okay with that, but I think it's really excessive. Also the cash registers there are ancient, never try to return anything to this store! It takes forever b/c of the way their cash register system is set up. It's almost worth it to just drive to the Michaels store in Fremont, it's 15 minutes away and the people who work there don't scowl at you, and if you have loads of stuff they'll help you carry it to your car :) Very Nice. read more

Just recently went for Halloween and Christmas deals. Definitely look out for the newsletter to find out 40% off or more deals, it's worth it. There's still a lot of things everywhere, but clearance items are more grouped together now. When I think I'm done, I walk down another aisle and want to buy more. Worst customer service experience ever! I had registered for an art class here. I requested the sales associate who was also a store manager (woman, I did not get her name, she had no badge or it was well hidden) to help me find the 'art supplies kit' that was mentioned on the class supplies list. She was surprised that they had something like the 'art supplies kit' for the class and told me to get stuff one by one from the list. But, another manager seemed knowledgeable and directed me to the right aisle. My art class was supposed to start at 12PM, no one showed up until 12:05. The sales associate asked me to wait as the instructor was on her way, but no one showed up until 12:20 PM. I decided to return my art supplies and get a refund for my class. Again, I was directed to the store manager (same woman) who said she had no idea and walked away. Seriously!!! You have no idea??? I was later directed to Greg, who apparently knew how things work. The entire return and refund process took me close to 30 minutes as I had to wait in 3 different lines for manager 1, 2 and so on. When I asked what happened, they blamed the system and the instructor was not informed that someone had registered for her class. Why was I told that the instructor was on her way? They LIED to me big time. They were not even apologetic until I told them it was such a waste of time for me. They just don't care for their customers. read more

NEVER TAKE A CLASS HERE! The customer service here is appalling. Manager should be fired. I purposefully showed up to their Open House to signed up for their Mixed Media class as they were advertising 50% off on classes if you signed up that day . When I arrived for their class a few weeks later, nobody was there. I waited for about ten minutes, then asked an employee where the instructor was. She called her manager and told me he was "figuring it out". I waited ten more minutes where every employee in the store practically avoided me. Then I finally walked to the front registers, where the manager was mumbling under his breath and trying to call the instructor. He wouldn't even acknowledge me or look me in the eye. I know he was stressed, but couldn't he have said "Sorry miss, but I'm trying to find out what went wrong, will you please bear with me?" He kept mumbling under his breath and I said "I'm sorry?", thinking he might finally be saying something to me. Then he stared at me and said sarcastically, "Well, she usually calls to confirm if we have students for that day". First of all, how is that my problem? Obviously there was a communication issue in between the store and it's instructors. But I found it immature and unprofessional that the manager was blaming everything on the instructor. The classes are under Michael's name after all, not to mention I paid for the class and the materials to Michael's. Quit acting like I'm the one wasting your time. He gave me a refund, but told me that I will now have to wait for the instructor to call me and schedule a new time, again avoiding responsibility and washing his hands clean of the whole thing. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL FROM THEM. So not only were they unapologetic about wasting my time, they straight up LIED to me. I've taken art classes with their competitor, Joann, before and this is my first experience with a Michael's class. Obviously I am never taking a class there again, nor am I ever purchasing items from this store again. I am also making sure to spread my unpleasant experience with all my fellow crafters. read more

On April 6 at store #3331 I was accused of stealing it was so embarrassed. I was leaving the store when this man came in front of my car and was taking my licensees number. I thought did i hit his car then I saw the man go back into the store. So i looked for the receipt and got the number to see what had happen. (THIS IS WHAT THEY TOLD ME HE WAS TAKING MY LICENSES BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I TOOK SOMETHING FROM THE STORE. He was so close to my car why didn't he knock on my window to see my receipt. He asked me to come back the store to see my receipt and i did i didn't take anything. I won't be coming back to your store and i will not recommend it . This Michael's has lost my business. First of all, everything here seems to be cramped together unlike other more spacious locations I've been to. But that doesn't really have to go with my review. Last time I was there, I didn't notice the sign that says, "1 Line for all registers" and was so rudely stopped when I made a line behind an open register. So this time I thought I knew better and went straight to where the "1 Line" sign was and waited. And waited and waited. I stood there for ten minutes while the open register cashier just kept on taking people lined up behind that particular register. I couldn't take it anymore, slammed down my purchase on the counter and walked out. Make up your damn mind about your stupid register policy. SO glad I wasted an hour out of my day. read more

Are guys suppose to go into a Michael's by themselves? Or are they ever suppose to go into a crafts store at all? I think the correct answer is suppose to be no because every time I go, I'm the only guy in there.... So what does a guy buy at Michael's? I go there for cheap pictures to frame my favorite comic panels. They sell 1000 Popsicle sticks for a dollar, great for whatever you need Popsicle sticks for. Paintbrushes for my plastic model building. They carry a variety of X-acto blades and crazy glues. Then there's silk flowers, jars, beads, stickers, stamps, threads, and wooden stuff. I have nothing but great things to say about this store. I was on a mission to find 7 matching decorative boxes so I could fill it with goodies to ask my girlfriends to be my bridesmaids. I had called/ been to at least 10 different Michaels stores and none of them were of any help to find the last two that I needed. I decided to try my luck with the Milpitas store and they didn't have the boxes but the manager (very nice lady) and one of the associates helped me for an hour two days in a row calling other Michael's in the area trying to find the boxes. They found a store that had 4 of them and had the store put them on hold for me. They have the best customer service of any Michael's I have been at. I highly recommend going to the Milpitas store if you're able to!! read more

Instead of visiting the Michael's Arts & Crafts store by my house, I prefer to shop at this Milpitas McCarthy Ranch location. It's newer, larger and has a much better selection of wedding products. Before my wedding I needed to find a large number of unscented candles and a packet of name cards. I found the candles and a salesperson checked if they had more in the back. The name cards were easy to find, in the wedding section row that holds a lot of wedding items, but is organized so that you can find specific items quickly. This Michael's has plenty of parking and good customer service. read more

I have to second K.J.A's review! I had the exact same experience a month later. And yes, "everything is crammed in" so first, it's so packed I HONESTLY didn't see the sign saying form one line here...which, honestly, you can't even see what's going on with the other lines from where the sign is and there's so much crap around it, I honestly wouldn't think to look up for a sign. Anyway, the male cashier snapped at me to get back under the sign when I moved away from his line (because frankly, I was afraid I'd snap back if I got him as my cashier). I was THE ONLY person in line and there were two cashiers. The woman from whose line I had to walk out of was then the person to help me. So here I was feeling like a ping pong ball so the cashier said "oh some people get confused about our lines" and I replied "well, that guy seems to have a serious attitude problem". Since there was no one else in line, he heard me turned around and gave me a dirty look and then walked off. Wow, awesome, this is just how I want my shopping experience to be. The gal who rang me up, Valerie, seemed like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Can't condone his behavior but can't speak up either. So my advice, take a skip on this location or go to a place like Joanne's that takes Michael's coupons. read more

I really have to wonder what the employee training manual says for this place. One of the guidelines must be to check out people as slooow as possible. And it's not just this Michael's, it seems like every one I go to is the same. It's especially bad when you get that person in front of you that is a scrapbooker, or a beader, or a general arts & crafts person. I don't have anything against them, but they tend to purchase a lot of items at one time that the employees take forever to ring up! My friend and I call it "the Michael's effect". Be prepared to stand in line for a while. But at least they (usually) have what I'm looking for. read more

This is the worst location I have been to. The store was messy and the service was way below expectations. I was there about an hour before closing and ended up waiting in a long line behind the only open register. By the time the line got very short, they opend up another register. I thought I could move into that line (i was not cutting in line since I would have been next called anyway). There was no indication that there was only a single line either. When I made my way to the other line the lady at the initial register loudly called out in a rude tone that there was only one line. That made no sense to me. If you want one line then mark it that way. Also, dont be so rude. You need to have more registers open in general. Many of your employees were not doing anything other than roaming the aisles. I could understand it better if they were at least restocking the shelves. The other people were friendly, but the shorter lady with the short hair at the front was a buzzkill. read more

i can never escape this place without spending at least $50 on something i wont convince myself to finally use six months later... everything is so small... you figure it wont cost you much... little did i know... ive noticed and will agree with everyone else when they say MICHAELS has the SLOWEST checkers EVERRRR... armagedon could happen and they wouldnt budge. if i werent so attatched to my must have impulse finds, id probably chew my own arm off that is holding the basket to escape the madness. the thing i hate most here is that they have no idea what it is you are looking for - or any input to add when you are asking questions for your own bank of knowledge on your projects. "would you think it would help my craft if i sprayed it down or painted a layer of polyurithane on it, or not? and if so, would i be best in going about using spray cans or paint brushes?" - I AM ASKING BECAUSE I HAVE NO BLOODY IDEA... i always get the same blank stare when i ask questions like these, but you would THINK this place would train its employees to handle a particular section/zone and share some kind of background knowledge to help sell... guess not. - that would be helpful, you know... but the only knowledgeable ppl there are in the framing section, which i would NEVER go to - because they are OVERPRICED. *shrug* this is the cleanest location for me locally, so ill have a heart and give a decent review. not only that, but if it werent for michaels, there would be no outlet or remedy for this insatiable feeling i have to want to pick up things and create with my hands... i swear, its martha stewart, debbie dewberry, and all those darned HGTV show hosts and a propaganda! read more

This place is very large and very clean, but going here can be a mess. Its nice that they have things quite stocked on their shelves, things can be easy to find if you're a regular crafter...BUT for people like my sister and I who don't visit places like this often. But since I'm moving up to baking fancy cakes, I needed more supplies since cake baking requires a ton of little things here and there.
