This sucks to write but I've spent a lot of money here over the last month. 4 custom frames aside from 2 visits a week for misc. art supplies. Today 2/14 I walked in right behind a family of 3 where one of the members (a woman) wasn't wearing a mask. And I don't mean it wasn't covering her nose, or it was pulled down under her chin, I mean NO VISIBLE MASK anywhere on her. But the other 2 members in her group were. (Logic? Probably wherever her mask is). She walked right past an employee - I looked at the employee, looked at the woman, than looked at the employee again and nothing. She did not say anything to the woman. I've spoken to some of the workers at this location and they have caught covid before, hmm I wonder why. Management needs to stay at the door and enforce the covid rules to keep everyone safe but especially your employees who put their lives at risk every day. I don't know if I'll be returning which really sucks because I loved having michaels so close by. I went to this Michaels to get some spray paint for a project. Since paint is kept in a locked cage, I asked the young man stocking some other paint if he could open the locked cage. He said, "push the button". I said , "there is no button". He said, "you have to wait a minute". Meanwhile, I heard an older gentleman ask him the price of the item. He said, "you have to use the scanner". He finally to opened the cage, and asked my name. The gentleman had another item for which he need a price. Obviously, the man did no know how to use the price check. I ended up helping him. Now we go to the checkout station, all but one has a real person. Since I was buying paint she had to wait on me to get an ID. Now the older gentleman comes up to the self checkout station. There is no one there to help him. I tried to help but got bit caught up with the pricing. I asked the clerk for help, but I got attitude. I then told her that "WE NEED HELP NOW". She was snarly and demeaning to both of us. First time shopping at Michael's and I had a good time. Never really had a reason to go to Michael's til now. They close at 9PM and I got in at 8:20 PM. I was looking for 'rustic' pieces for a friend's wedding, mainly for the cake tables, other decors etc. It's gonna be an intimate celebration so no need for fancy and expensive stuff that's only going to be used once. I got mainly what I need and some more, except this one thing I was looking for -- the big letter canvass in white. Apparently they sold out cause it's a best seller. I can go back for it next time. I finished shopping on time, exactly at 9PM and the staff gladly accommodated everyone inside the store so we can all finish shopping. Also, if you go to their website www.michaels.com you'll see at the home page some of the promos/coupons they have. If you also search in google "michael's coupons" it will asknyou for the zipcode of your area and available coupons for the stores nearby. What I like is the staff will really guide you to which codes to use to get the best deal for your purchase! Mine was 20% off for all purchases since I got some stuff from clearance that can't be part of the promo anymore. Service: outstanding! Parking: yes there's free parking just outside the store in the parking lot. Is there a line: I was in the cashier at closing and there was a line but service was fast so I don't think I waited more than 8 minutes. Will I go back? Yes. Welcome to Candyland! For peeps in the creative arts, hobbyist, painters, bakers and candlestick makers, I'm pretty sure you'll find something here to complete your "artsy-fartsy" project. From beads to twigs, glitters and sparkles, vase and cases, ornamental flowers, paints and art pencils, doilies and for the birdies... the options and supplies is next to endless! From time to time when the paint tubes run dry and the brushes had a sudden affliction of alopecia, Michaels has become my go-to place, they always have an assortment of painting supplies from Golden, Chroma, Liquitex and Winsor Newton, I also like their selection of canvases as they offer quite a few in different styles and size, I personally like the gallery wrap canvases as I could simply hang my artwork without the need of a frame. (Which they have quite a bit too - ready made or customized) This store is pretty clean, they could add a few more staff on the floor as I've noticed quite a few people wandering like a headless chicken looking for someone to help them. It would also help to open more registers especially on the weekends (I know your store is huge but this ain't Costco, right?)... It'll sure expedite that long line especially if the nice little old lady in front still has to get her drivers license, find a pen and write a check for her purchase... Not to mention ask the spelling of the store... Oh sweet lord. *grin* But anyhow... I like this store even though it is short staffed on the weekends or probably took their lunch all at the same time hehe (to be honest I like to be left alone when I'm shopping for my art stuff - I get more ideas cooked up in there! How about zero stars? The framing department needs some work in terms of organization. I had to go there three times (a minimum of 30 minutes per visit) for one piece and even then they couldn't get it right. Mind you this is nothing complicated or detailed. Generic frame, black mat. The real zinger is that I ordered something online for pick up in the store. The tracking showed that it had been delivered 2 days prior, with the managers name and proof of delivery. Of course they couldn't find it, and the associates who wouldn't let me speak to a manager then suggested that I get in touch with UPS. How about speaking to the person who signed for it? They excused me and let me know that it wasn't their problem and to take it up with UPS. There is a lack of organization, leadership and professionalism at this store. No one knew the first thing about customer service, and they insisted on passing the blame for everything. Michaels is obviously one of the best known and trusted big box retailers in the country, unfortunately the one in Glendale does not exemplify those values. read more

Probably the worst "curbside" pickup I've had in a very long time. Called as directed and spoke to a gentleman and gave him my order number. I waited in my car for 30mins only to find out a female worker come out RUDE with attitude saying whatever you're waiting for you need to wait in line. WTH? Disorganized much? Their whole in-store, curbside pickup is not working. I don't mind waiting, however if I'm waiting for no apparent reason and then have to wait in line and then wait another 15mins to pick up my order, no thank you. Michael's has been around for many, many years as a place to find that just right decoration touch. This unit has been in the Nordstrom Rack outside Mall just a few blocks from my pad for 30 years. Yet, i think today might have been my first visit. I was on the lookout for a cookie container so as to send my World Famous Oatmeal cookies to my amigo in NYC who cannot seem to get my recipe right when he attempts it in the City. Personally i think he hasn't even tried but that is Jeffrey and we all one of those friends. The kind who, outside of his skill and career set he is like a newborn baby. I mean: what do you say about a 5o year old man with a heart of gold who stores shoes in his oven in his small West Village apt? In any event and to get back to this review: Michael's did not have anything i could use but it did stock several things for which i have been searching for weeks. Cool! I went early, the store is pretty empty of customers but there are a lot of employees awaiting the bulk of their business which I'm sure is coming what with the Holidays fast approaching. It's Christmas in Michael's and the shelves are fully stocked with decorations, wrap, etc. Service is first rate and as i stated: lots of people to answer my questions. It seems (fingers and toes crossed) that we are nearing a COVID balance and it is good to see that Michael's has survived the worst of it. I'm guessing that their survival can be placed at the foot of Americans wanting to make things seems festive despite the dire circumstances that we have had to endure for the past year. I can't comment too much about pricing though some items seemed high, others not. Yet what i bought was on sale. But honestly is pricing an issue with these particular decoration items? I generally enjoy coming to this location because of the large selection of arts and crafts, home decor, frames and other decorative things. Michaels gives you the tools to be as creative as you want to be with decorations and gifts. It's also in a very convenient plaza with Staples, Nordstrom Rack, Petco, Ralphs, The Habit, and more. The only thing about this place is the slow service. Maybe they're constantly understaffed but when you need to call someone to help you grab an item in the locked area, they either forget about you or it takes more than ten minutes. Customer service is terrible, i went in with my wife to buy some supplies to make slime and i really needed to use the restroom because unfortunately i am type 2 diabetic and need to urinate very frequently, its annoying and embarrassing enough that i have to go to the restroom so frequently like every 15 minutes. I was assisted by a female Filipino employee who seemed very bothered to assist me. I didnt know and dont understand why this store needs to have a pin code to use the restrooms for customers. Petco doesn't have that problem with restrooms in any of their stores and i wouldn't have bothered this woman if they were no pin codes necessary. She took 2 extra minutes to assist me when all she was doing was walking around every aisle. Unfortunately 15 minutes passed after i used the restroom and needed to use it again and as embarrassing as i felt about it i asked a male employee qnd he sounded alot nicer then the female employee qnd said he would help me but he began to put up some empty racks and i asked can i wait for you by the restrooms, he said sure ill be there in a moment and he said you can aslo press a button by the restrooms and someone will assist you. I was like ok thank you very much. I waited for him for 6 minutes and he never showed up, i pressed the button and 4 minutes later, no one showed up! So i really needed to go and ended up going to petco where the restrooms were available with out an associate needing to enter a ridiculous pin number. So in retun i bought $60.00 of pet supplies from thwir store for my cat. As for Michael's my wife was still shopping there and spent $55.00 for the supplies. The framing department at this store was completely unprofessional from start to finish. They did not properly mount my artwork to which it fell in the frame after being hung in my home. Upon taking it back to get fixed it needed to be reframed on 2 further occasions because they left marks and dust inside the frame. Will never get something framed here again. Adrian the framing manager refused to give anything over a $40 refund for the continued issues and lack of attention to detail. The process took over 3 months for them to finally get it right. I've been shopping at Michaels for years for my arts and crafts materials but after today, they will not receive a dime from me and will look at other competitors for my things, like Amazon. I took advantage of the Buy online pick up in store and they had a promotion of 40% off everything if you did that, and wanted to purchase even more items while I was there because navigating the website on mobile devices isn't ideal, but the store would not honor that BOPUS promotion. This location is a lot larger and cleaner when compared to the one in Pasadena. I definitely prefer this location over Pasadena because they have more availability and a larger selection of items. Like many Michaels, most of the employees you see are at the check out line. When you did need help, you're going to have to really walk up and down those aisles to find someone. Lol. I'm usually fine shopping by myself though. The store is nicely organized and for the most part, pretty clean considering I came in the evening. This is the closest Michaels to my house, I have no choice but to go to the Glendale location. I wanted to take a cake decorating class which I signed up for. The class requires you to purchase a specific kit. I went to the store an hour before the class and they ran out of the kit. I was shocked that they would have a class and not carry the product. The worker just told me I was suppose to purchase it in advance and I should run over to another Michaels! I was so disappointed and just got a refund for the class. The store was a complete mess. They probably keep horrible inventory and I shouldn't be surprised this happened. The workers are not great and the store is the worst Michaels I've ever been to! read more

Michaels is an overpriced arts and crafts store. They do accept coupons, but on a limited selection of items. I only come here when I'm in desperate need of something for a school project. But I always make sure to check other places like Joanns, Target, or the 99 cent store. Even Amazon is cheaper. The overall layout of the store is nice. They have a wide variety of items. The ambiance is a bit depressing and they should really open up more registers when lines get long. It doesn't make sense to have two cashiers and five employees walking around, not ringing people up. Parking is great. There is a lot of space and there is also underground parking. Overall, this store is not my go to place when it comes to buying things for arts and crafts. But it does seem to be the place where kids are able to get different colored rubber bands for their looms, so that is nice. Too bad they don't take coupons. Hands-down the worst place to do any type of holiday shopping or regular shopping for that matter. Management is rude. When I asked for help I was told to look in the back I asked where in the back and I got an attitude because I didn't know where they kept their picture frame. Is that fair who I look like a genie or a mind reader because it seems like the manager that it is OK to just be like oh well that's too bad if you don't know where things are. This Tasmanian devil look alike definitely has not had any training for their jobs. I'm upset at the fact that I couldn't even get a picture frame for my daughters graduation. I won't knock this store completely, but several of the employees don't really care about you in your crafty space. I went in for some balsa wood and found a total disaster area. I asked a clerk if they had any more product than the heap of disorganized, broken stock before me and she said, "I don't think so." Were they planning on ordering more? "I don't think so." Did she know if this stock ever got organized? "It's the night-shifts job." During this exchange she pushed Popsicle sticks so much I thought she either had stock in the company or a secret horde from her Missile Pop consumption! I didn't find charms I was looking for, sheets of acrylic or a paint color I wanted. (Nothing exceptional; just a vintage red.) Don't get me wrong, they do carry a lot of stuff, have okay prices and a few people that work there do care. This is totally unacceptable (there were plenty of people who worked there wandering around the store in Michael's vests) Being the holiday season I would think this would be a very busy time for them and they should plan accordingly with their staffing. Waited 15 minutes to get access to the bathroom because the employee up front refused to give me the code. The manager then came to open it, cut me off and went in to use the bathroom in front of me. She proceeded to go #2 while having a conversation on speaker phone. Bathroom was alarmingly filthy, the only other open stall had no toilet paper or seat covers. I really like this store. Customer service is not bad in contrast to Joann's fabric. It's a one stop shop for me and it's close to home. As much as I want to give this store five stars I can't because the signs that they put up are sometimes misleading and I have been a victim several times and you will too if you don't pay attention. I feel that these signs which are put up everywhere in the store is designed to trick customers and make you think you're saving money or getting a good deal when really you're just paying everyday price... so why even put up the sign in the first place? These sales tactics make the store look like a used car sales lot. Horrible customer service. I had to wait for about 15 minutes after asking the framing department to please send someone to help me in the invitation section. Once someone finally came I asked if they had more glitter flat cards and envelopes. Unfortunately the guy who helped me climbed a ladder and looked in one bin for about one second and said nope. I am a teacher and spend my own money to purchase things for my classroom every single year. Needless to say, why would you forget to give the teacher discount even when it's stated on the website. It includes sale items...then you call about not getting it and the manager at the store says to come back and we'll help you out. You show up and explain what happen and they want you to return the item so they can redo it and then give you your discount! Am I going to come again to get something?
