The service is terrible. I went in to get a balloon arrangement for my husband's birthday, and it was a small arrangement of two numbers, one mylar balloon and six latex balloons. The girl did not know what she was doing. She was not trained however she did put the arrangement together nicely where she messed up is she cut the strings way too short because it matched up with the shortest string is what she told me, but these strings were so short. It looked ridiculous. Then they tell me I have to pay for a weight because they ran out of clips. I said I'm not doing that because I'm not paying for a weight. You're gonna have to find something that's equivalent. The manager came over. They found a clip put the clip on there. I said thank you and left. I didn't get a you're welcome a nod a hand wave nothing I was not rude or disrespectful. I simply said you're gonna have to do something that replaces the clip because giving it to me with just a string is not OK. Customer service has to be better. Don't take a personal understand. You have to do your job. I mobile order a few items Vacaville location did not have but Fairfield did. We waited half the day for the items to be ready. Never got noticed to pick them up. Therefore we walk in and got our own mobile order and put it all together. I have not been in this store but I have been outside getting curbside pick up which I love!! It's difficult for me to walk so to shop online and pick it up a few hours later is perfect for me!! I posted one of our dollar deals activity and the kids had fun with the glow sticks. Someday I might come inside but the curbside is best for me at the moment. Definitely a place to find crafts and activities to do. Hopefully they will have in person classes again for the kids, we have gone into other Michael's locations for that and the kids have fun. Book an appointment online for custom framing at the Fairfield, CA branch only to be told when I get there that the store's custom framing shop does not have anyone till 11 am. Manager basically washed her hands off and told me that she does not know who would confirm the appointment. She offered no other option except to call the 1800 number. Tried calling the 1800 number but no one picked up. What can you do at that point other than never patronize the store and leave a review to warn other about the experience. Never again. read more

I put my card in to pay. Then she just grabs my phone off the counter while saying can I see that coupon. Remember she already scanned and it obviously applies since the system took it. I dont come here very often. Yet solely on my last check in I have to give it 4 starts. The guy at the register was impressive. He moved the line quickly and was good at multi tasking. The phone rang and he took the call, directed it to the right place and got done right before the next customer got to the register. We came to this store to buy many decoration items for our wedding- we found the wedding selection to be good but very overpriced. We needed over 200 ivory votives but did not find the amount we needed at the store- we should have tried costco for something like that. After the wedding, we had quite a few left-over items. We decided to return these but I was having such a frazzled/bad day that I couldn't find the receipt I needed in my purse for the return. I asked for a manager to help me who was able to essentially purchase the supplies back from me at a lower price. I of course found the receipt in my purse a day later :( Michaels may or may not have what you need- for large events, I recommend also stopping over at the party store in the same complex- you may need to go to costco if you have large numbers of items to get (like candles). read more

Had to travel to this store after Vallejo store didn't have what I was looking for in stock. The store here in Fairfield looks to be better managed and in a better & safer location than the Vallejo store. Noticed prices have soared lately! Michael's no longer that relatively low-cost crafts store of yesteryear, possibly due to inflation, supply-chain issues, idk? Stuff that used to cost $1.99, $2.99, $3.99, etc. is now $5.99, $8.99 $11.99 and higher. Like up to 100% or better from before. Ouchie. Did find some relative bargains in the clearance racks however. The bargain bins may now be the first place to seek when entering the store? Btw, custom-framing costs at all Michael's are not really cheaper than any other custom frame shop, despite advertising claims to the contrary. Bottom line, Dollar Tree is likely still the go-to for crafting supplies found at either store. Make sure to utilize your Michael's receipt coupons for your future visits. And sign up for their customer rewards program to build points good for rewards vouchers. Cashier was quite friendly 10 min. within closing time, so no problems with customer service here. This store is disappointing. The selection isn't so good and unless there's a sale or coupon most stuff is overpriced. But today I was particularly frustrated. I had placed an order online for pickup in the store. I ordered two items that were supposedly in stock. Then I got emails saying one item was ready for pickup the other unavailable and canceled. I went to the store to pickup the one available item. And I noticed that the other item that was canceled was actually in stock so I asked the cashier if she could give me the same price I should have paid for my original order that the store had canceled since they couldn't find the item. The answer was no, I would have to pay more because deals are different in the store. I think a price adjustment would have been appropriate, it wasn't my fault they didn't find the item. But no. So basically the store is so disorganized even the staff can't find things. Therefore their pickup in store feature doesn't work and on top of that their customer service. So really I am not sure how this store expects to stay in business. Why would anyone buy here and not online? read more

I have purchased a ton of things at Michael's the last 9 months or so for my wedding and for the most part the customer service has been okay. Usually, the customer service here is dry, but I have never experienced any rudeness until this past weekend. The cashier that assisted me was beyond rude. At first I ignored it because I did not want to make a scene, the line behind me was getting long and ultimately I just wanted to complete my return/exchange. The cashier asked for my ID in a very rude manner and just stared at me the whole time. The transaction made me feel so uncomfortable. I do not like returning things without my receipt(s), but at Michael's they can look up your transaction with your phone number so it should not have been an issue. I don't like to assume anything, but I really felt like she was treating me poorly because of my race. I know, I know, like I said, I hate to assume, but the way she just stared at me was nothing I have experienced ever in my life. Also, to assume I did not have ID to complete my return, what type of nonsense was that? All she had to do was enter in my phone number, which I tried to give her but she dismissed me. The cashier completely messed up the transaction and basically blamed me for it. When I first walked up to the counter I let her know I had a return, if she did not hear me, that is not my fault. After her attitude continued, I had finally had enough and I told the cashier that she was rude and I demanded to have someone else assist me. Instead of apologizing for her lack of customer service and rudeness, she wanted to keep arguing, until her manager came and told her to go on break. Do you think the manager apologized or anything? NO! All she said was, "oh she gets flustered easily." Really?? Let's see how Corporate feels about this scenario.....I really hope that Corporate follows up with Management and they do more than make excuses for this rude associate. Before I went to this store location, I called them and asked if they do price matching. The girl on the phone was extremely helpful and provided me with information on how to do it correctly. When I get to the store the manager began to yell at me about how the price was fake and it isn't real so she isn't going to price match my item for me. 1. There's no need to get snippy with me. 2. If you can't price match it then that's all you had to say. 3. OMG I love this store! They have so many things to make stuff out of! My best friend bride-to-be, her sister, her mom, and I went here to find flowers and vases because my best friend wants to make the centerpieces instead of buying them made. They have a vast selection of flowers, baskets, vases, etc. to make centerpieces for weddings, homes, and other places. They also have supplies to make crafts and they even have supplies to bake and decorate cakes! I come here once in a while to buy some cake decorating supplies for some special cakes. They have many discounts on many things. They advertise them online and on the paper. If you buy something, keep your reciept because you can get coupons through there. They also have workshops for craftbuilding and cake decorating, among other workshops. They also have events for kids too. I was asked twice by associates if I was finding everything all right. The store was neat & clean, especially for it being so close to Christmas. And although some associates were moving & restocking product, it was done in an orderly fashion not to disturb shoppers. Every week you can find a 40-50% coupon in their paper and I use them on things such as Edged Canvas' but then I find out that the Canvas' are already discounted at 50%, which is pretty awesome. I am coming here on a weekly basis for the free Michaels class (additional cost for supplies) and I really enjoy it! I take my client here to do arts and crafts. I recommend everyone to come and take it. Get out of your house! Try something new! Meet the staff for an hour or two! They're so extremely friendly! Gary is such a funny guy! I'm not one to write bad reviews but good lord was I absolutely appalled by how rude one of the associates was to my mother and I just yesterday. We went into michaels to buy some ribbons and other supplies for baby shower party favors we were making and were discussing with each other details about the baby shower while browsing. An associate who happened to be in the aisle we were in turned to us and flat out said, "we don't have baby shower items anymore we haven't in over a year. You can go to Party city it's in the shopping center next door." I was fully taken aback by not just what she said but the way she said it in an absolutely condescending and rude tone. We did not ask her for help nor did we even ask her if they carried baby shower items (which they most definitely did have ribbons and balloons saying "it's a girl!" and pink decorations that I would qualify as baby shower like). Again, we did not ask or even approach this associate she literally listened to the conversation between my mother and I and just decided to butt in and be rude to us for no reason. The other associate who rang us up was very polite and professional though, who thankfully was able to turn our visit around. read more

I'm sad to give this Fairfield location one star because my family and I absolutely love shopping at Michael's. I understand this place gets extremely busy, especially during the holidays, but that doesn't give anyone the right to be sarcastic and snobby. ESPECIALLY if they are the employees. I went to Michael's at 9pm at night (which yeah, it's late and these people want to get home to their family's, I get it!) but it was slow and there was only myself and one other family in line. As I was waiting patiently in line for two of the workers to resolve an issue they had with their current customer, I was observing how awfully rude they were answering this customers one question. Their question was basically to clarify how much their Christmas tree was including the discount. They misunderstood one employee who helped them in the back (the manager, I didn't get her name). The customers thought that it was an additional 60% off of the discounted price. Rather than saying no and explaining that the 60% was already taken off, the employee (Shelly) pompously asked the manager through her earpiece if she told the customers that she gave them an additional discount. Her face during this was absolutely disgusting! She flat out was trying to make the customers look like idiots. On top of that! When it was my turn to get rung out, I asked the girl who was helping me (Cheryl) if I could do two transactions to get 50% off of two full priced items. She said normally they wouldn't allow it but since there wasn't anyone else in line behind me, she would do it. I told her that I could have my fiancé come in and pay for it, so it wouldn't be an issue. She politely said it was ok, so then we proceeded. Aside from the 50% off one full priced item coupon, I had the 25% off entire purchase which she told me wouldn't work on my second transaction since it was just one item. Honestly, I knew I was pushing it by asking for all the discounts but I'm a penny pincher here and that's me being real. What I didn't appreciate was that she was lying to me and she threw two of my receipts coupons away that printed out from my purchases. I asked her, because I chose a paper receipt instead of an email one, if it came with a coupon. She didn't think that I saw her quickly throw it in the trash. She said that I did get a coupon but they can't give them out or else "they" (whoever THEY is) would get suspicious. If these people had such an issue about ALL THE DISCOUNTS THAT THE COMPANY OFFERS. Then they are working for the wrong company. I will be contacting corporate because I and one other family got the sh*ttiest service. I'll be taking my business to Vacaville from now on. read more

This is my number one place to go to when I need rolled precut 6" tulle. Or any of the things I use for my tutus and diaper cakes. They have almost everything I need. The tulle variety colors aren't that great but the options they do have keep me and my creative hands busy. I dislike that the front sliding doors wait until you are nose to glass in order to open. Can we get that fixed??? What if a child decided they were excited to get new crafts and were running in to the store but the door didn't open? well...... They almost always have plenty of cashiers up front but don't ALWAYS count on them to be pleasant and at least give a crack of a smile. I mean seriously most times the cashier is not happy. I can barely get a, "have a good day" or "thank you" from them. Why do I come back? Well its close to my job and is easy for me to pick up materials on my lunch break. I do love the little clearance section they have towards the way back but it is a bit disorganized. Seems like this place has a problem with rude employees based upon other recent reviews. Made a purchase online for pickup in Fairfield but decided against it so I called to cancel it. The lady who picked up the phone who seemed annoyed as hell then transferred me to a manager who could cancel my order. The manager cancelled it and that was that. 15 mins later I thought maybe I should have received an email confirmation for the return but I hadn't so I called again just to make sure I would get some sort of receipt of return. I called again, the same rude ass lady picked up and the phone and I explained her my situation. And she says "WELL I. DONT. KNOW. LET ME GET THE MANAGER AGAIN." She was pissed for no good reason especially with me because the questions I asked were quite simple she didnt need to become flustered When I spoke to the manager, she was cordial and polite like an employee should be. I've worked in customer service for 8 years and I know how it is and some days are harder than others. Sucks for customers who have to be treated like shit by people who don't know how to separate emotions from the work place. Or this woman might just truly be a bitch at heart.
