She and other associates were very patient and informative about what I need and answered all my questions. She even helped us out to the car with our purchases. Very simple...I went into Ace to get another Safety Vest. I left mine at another location 3 hours away. I walked in and it's very neat and organized. I saw a nice lady working and asked what aisle I could find the vests. She directed me to Aisle 4 on the left. She was going to walk over with me. I said no need since she was up on a ladder already. I told to aisle 4 and find my Safety Vest. It's a little cheaper than what I paid in Hawai'i. Who doesn't like saving money? I had to go back and get the associate because everything's is securely locked. Now I felt bad. She assisted me with getting the Vest down. As I walked to the Checkout, I noticed that they also sale all flavors of Pies. I didn't see the price. Of course, I was only thinking of hubby as I often do. He would have loved the for sure. This post isn't just about one or two visits but about countless trips made there over the years collectively. First off, let me address the elephant in the room. Yes, Ace Hardware is most definitely more expensive than the alternatives like Lowe's and Home Depot. Now that that's out of the way, I'm personally okay with pay slightly higher prices because of the exceptional customer service I have received every single time I'm there. I'm always great by a friendly staff member, who usually looks like a handy dad, and assisted to whatever aisle I'm looking for. I never pretend to be a guy that knows how to fix everything around the home. When I go to Ace, they are all more than willingly to talk to you about your home project. They almost insist on giving you the best advice they know on how to fix the problem. Notably, I can appreciate their professionalism when dealing with difficult members of the public. Recently, a very upset, angry older gentleman was borderline berating a nice sale associate just trying to explain a return. Nonetheless, the associate kept her composure until eventually the situation calmed down. Hats off to you! read more

My dog Chopper is the biggest cry baby and was having a emotional whimpering fit because I walked 5 feet away from him and hubby. John came a greeted him and offered him a treat. Not just any treat, but his favorite Beggin Strips. John knew he was a small dog so not to give him too much. He was so on top of his customer service game. He helped us navigate the store and made friends with Chopper. He rewarded him at the end of our shopping trip again. It's hard to shop with a dog, we don't feel welcomed everywhere. My experience with The Ace Hardware in Suisun City has very poor customer service. I returned a brass connecter for my garden hose because it was too big. I was issued a refund, and I then went to find the correct size. I returned to the cashier to make my new purchase. To my surprise the exact same item that I returned which was smaller in size but was more expensive. I asked the cashier why it was more expensive since it was the exact same item but more expensive? This cashier was rude and passive aggressive in her response, and I stated that you shouldn't be so "friggen rude". I then asked to speak with the manager who was about eight feet away from where I was being checked out. I explained to her (the manger) that it's not ok for your staff to be rude towards a customer. The manager promptly stated that I should not cuss in front of children. I said I never cussed in front of a child (referring to her cashier I assumed who was an adult). I never used the expletive Fu....but used friggen. The manager never gave me an explanation on why the exact same item was more expensive and smaller in size and she refused to reconcile the issue. Her response was that they are not responsible for pricing. This hardware store is always overpriced, but it is conveniently located and that's why I go there for nuts, bolts, and smaller item type purchases. It feels like your unwelcome and they always follow you around (watching) to make sure you're not going to steal. Poor example on how an Ace Hardware should be run. read more

Whenever we come into this store we are always greeted by friendly employees and there is always someone to help. Because of this this has become my husbands favorite place to get things for his job. Yesterday my mom and I went in to get a few things for her and she mentioned she wasn't feeling well, luckily we were already at the counter to pay. We opened the door to leave and she froze. I didn't realize at that moment that she was going to faint. We were already outside so I couldn't get the attentions of the employees inside, luckily a gentleman and his son were walking towards me and he was able to help me get her down slowly. The employees noticed what was happening and they were instantly there. Two were building a camping chair for my mom to sit in, another was getting my mom water. At some point one of them called the ambulance and when one noticed my mom was in the sun grabbed an umbrella to keep her covered. It was a scary thing, but the employees all remained calm and reassuring. This is my first yelp review. I have never felt compelled to write one. But I can't express enough just how thankful I am that they were able to keep me calm in a scary situation. I hope their manager knows what wonderful people they have working for them. read more

Needed a key made for a 1014 Chevrolet. They said 7 to 10 day to get it. Took about a month. Probably because they were never going to call me to set up an appointment. I had to call them. She say "It just came in" like we knew they would. Lie's are very obvious. Then we find out 2.5 more weeks to get it programmed??? They could have told us all this up front. So 6 to 8 weeks to get a key made. Unacceptable. Then I find out the guy in the Solano mall has one in stock with same day service....$50 cheaper. Wow. Thanks for the upcharge and waste of time ACE. I purchased a faucet from the location on 12/26/21. The faucet now has a hole in it. I have the receipt as well as box. They will not return told me it was past 60 days. Today is 2/22/22 so we are not past 60 days. This is very inconvenient to me as a consumer. I usually go to Lowe's or Home Depot. I will return to them as it's better customer service. Very poor service. Ace has basically ripped me off. I placed an online order for pick up on May 5th. Same day pick up. I guess what is supposed to happen is you get an email when it is ready and you drive up curb side and they give you the order. Mind you this is supposed to be same day. I didn't get a call that day so the very next day I call to find out what is going on. I was told that their online ordering system is being overwhelmed and not working at the time. Please be patient and when it is ready they will email me. I got the email on the 7th. So two days late for same day pick up smh... I go to pick up my items and they are missing a total of three items. I ordered three extension cords. I only got one and I ordered two TruFuel and only got one. She went back into the store and found one more TruFuel but is still missing the extension cords. She made a note of this on the pick up form that I needed two more extension cords and they would give me a call when it comes in. Today is May 23rd. 16 days later and after several calls I still do not have me two missing extension cords. I have given up trying to get them. So basically Ace Hardware has ripped me off their customer. I have lived in Suisun for 20 years now and grew up going to this store when I was a kid mowing lawns and working on cars. Admittedly since moving to Fairfield I do not shop here at this store often but due to Covid I decided to try to support this local store. Now I will NEVER set foot into a Ace Hardware again and stick to Lowe's and Home Depot. Had a couple run-ins with returns here. It's typically a good store, that's why it pains me to leave 2 stars. Most of the workers seem to care. One lady, gave me $.50 out of her pocket because she couldn't figure out why the system didn't refund me $.35. I quickly put that change in the cup by their register. Recently, I returned paint that didn't match, and apparently they have a policy that if color is added to paint you can't return it. That's fine, if that policy is told to customers at the time of purchase. It was told to me when I returned the paint. They wound up "doing a one-time return", but not after I was blamed...saying "you said it matched", what happened to the customer is always right? Then they proceeded to act like they were doing me a favor by returning it on my behalf as a favor. So I won't be going here any more, I was going to grab more painting materials like sand paper, brushes and tape, but I would rather not get blamed for anything or guilt-tripped when I'm shopping or returning things. I will take my business to their competitor. And don't send me anymore $5 coupons in the mail. Those don't even work. Let me start by saying amazingly helpful staff. They are kind and courteous every time I come in there. However, they can not match paint to save their lives. I have gone back 4 times and gotten 4 different shades of paint to do one wall. The best the manager could offer was a buy-1 get-1 half off on my next paint order after I already dropped $300 on the wrong colors. Also, wasn't really a deal, because that was their store promotion at the time. Not helpful at all. Won't be getting paint there again EVER! I recommend you don't either. read more

My experience with your customer service very irritating. I ordered a key that had to be programmed. I was told I would get a call when it came in about 7 days or so. I waited and finally called to inquire approximately 14 days later. I was told someone would call me. No call. I called back waited 20 minutes until Alissa finally answered. I asked why had I not been called. She claimed she did call and left a voicemail. I told her I did not receive her call or her voicemail. She didn't bother to check my number to make sure she had the right number, she argued with me instead insisting she made the call. I made an appointment at 2:00. I called the night before asking to change to earlier so I can attend my granddaughters birthday party. I was not told how long it would take so I could plan a little bit. She called me back the next morning and I made an appointment for 11:00. I get there and she claims about 40 minutes. WHAT! If would've known that I would have made arrangements to drop the car off to program the key and come back later to pick up my car and my key. Now I am stranded, no coffee yet and I am upset. I find a coffee shop in the shopping center and sit down and wait for my call. An hour and a half later I finally walk on over to the store and check on my key. The clerk said oh yes we called you some time ago and left a message. I am fuming at this point when I told her I got no call. I said they got ahold of me this morning and I was able to reschedule. She slammed the pen down for me to sign and said "Have the day you deserve!" I used to be a loyal customer. I am not going back after that service. Well, well...I went in to buy one can of paint, $3.99! Due to previous problems with the cashier Selena, I asked the manager to ring me up. The manager Richard Roberts refused stating we only have one cashier. Then he went in on me saying "I had some nerve writing a bad review on YELP that is not true!" Really wished this store was still owned by the original owners (family) that opened it. Since they sold it and it has gone thru the hands of different owners it just gets worse and worse. And if you think it can't get any worse, some new owner comes in and proves you wrong. It's always a crap shot, do I drive down a few more miles to Home Depot or Lowes, or do I hit us Ace and see if they have it and save me some time. Been burnt too many times. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Can't walk in without getting a "Hey there!" or "Can I help you find anything today?". When you do ask for help, they know just where to take you (last trip to Lowe's, the guy didn't even know how to spell Kobalt, their own store brand! TLDR: They've got only one person who can rekey locks and if he's "too busy" you're shit outta luck because they make no effort to accomodate you and just send you away with "I can't do that today." Go to Ace Pedrotti in Benicia instead, where they've got more than one person trained to do the job. I came to this location looking to get the locks rekeyed for a new house. I called this Ace location the night before to check whether they provide the service and what the best hours were to come in. The person I spoke to said to come in the morning, anytime after 8 and to ask for Richard. Based on this, I proceed to remove ALL the locks from my house and make arrangements for someone to be there while it's unsecured. I bring the locks to this Ace at 9am and am directed to Richard who just looks at me like he doesn't know why I could possibly be asking him to rekey locks at this most inconvenient of times. He says he's too busy and can't get to it today and that I should have called first. I inform him that I did indeed call and was told this morning would be a good time to come in. He then asks me who I spoke to...Excuse me, but is every one of your customers required to ask the name of who they speak to?!! So that when you fail to provide service you can point fingers? How about training more than one person in the store to rekey locks? Or how about asking one of the other associates who were standing around the registers and not busy at this early in the morning to take over whatever you were doing to PROVIDE SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE? Instead, I'm left with having to beg the already imposed upon person watching my house to stay a little longer while I drive all the way from Fairfield to the Benicia Pedrotti Ace, where they THANKFULLY have more than one person who can do this job. read more

I just want to say I am thoroughly impressed with the customer service I received at this location! It was 6:30 pm on 01/08/19, I was rushing to get there because I know closing is 7. Unfortunately I didn't get names of the two people that helped me but I didn't think about how nice they were until I left. Knowing I was so close to closing time, I felt like I had to rush because some people at other places aren't as nice when people go in late. I walked in and was greeted by the cashier. Nice young woman, shorter height, with medium length brown hair. She greeted me very nicely, smile on her face, like she was happy to be there, and made me change my mind about thinking I had to "rush" or feeling like I was bothering them for going in so late. While walking down the screwdriver isle, I'm looking for precision Phillips screwdriver. I hear a gentleman asking if other people needed help, all telling him no they were fine. Eventually he gets to me, who DOES need help lol. He was an older man, very nice, wearing a light brown flannel I believe. I'm impressed at this point because he was LOOKING for someone to help, instead of waiting for someone to go looking for him. He asked multiple people in a row (probably 2 or 3). I tell him what I'm looking for so he takes me there. But not only does he take me to them, he shows me a few different sets of all prices and explains the differences to me. I then explain I'm not looking for a huge set or anything, I just have one thing to fix that I didn't have the right size for! He then asked the girl at the register if they still had a smaller sized one up front. They do and it happens to be perfect for me! It almost looked like a pen until he opened it and showed me that it had 2 Phillips and 2 Flat Heads that are interchangeable. So I take it. I go to be rung up and the same girl from the first part of my review, compliments my eyebrows. GIRL YESSS THANKS lol. Yes that sounds a little silly but it did make me feel good! I love doing my makeup and it's something I'm passionate about so for someone to notice and compliment me, means a whole lot!! The whole time I was in the store, the atmosphere was so friendly. I've been here a few times and have noticed the staff are helpful but I felt like this exact time was the best customer service I've received. I've never had an employee LOOKING for people to help, it's normally just when they pass by you that they ask if you need help. But no, he genuinely wanted to find someone to help and genuinely wanted to give great service. Went to buy a gas grill today, found one for $499 with free assembly and free delivery. Cashier rang it up and said manager would call to schedule delivery. He called about an hour after I got home and said there was a mistake in the price, that it was actually $900 and had been misnarked, no apology, no nothing, just come in to have my card credited. I have been scrambling looking for small American Flags for the Girl Scouts for the Veterans Day Parade. I called this store and had been dealing with Betty most of the day, with her having no luck. Then late last night, the manager of the store, Richard Roberts, called me that they had located 31 flags (not enough but a tiny dent in what I needed). He did NOT have to call me back, especially since this was a 'tiny' sale. I asked him to hold them until this morning until I could drive over there. I was greeted with a 'good morning' when I walked in, I found the store clean and very neat, and I was directed to the Customer Service desk in the back where I met Richard. Back to the front of the store with the flags and was treated with courtesy and respect by the two ladies at the cash register. Last month I got an ad and on the first day of it went to get tomato stakes. They had all of the ones that weren't on sale, but the clerk said they ran out of the sale ones. I said on the first day? I don't think so, and left. Today I went on the first day of the ad that had miracle grow dirt on sale. Couldn't find it, but they had all of the other dirt that wasn't on sale. I asked the clerk where this dirt was and the clerk said they're sold out. I said on the first day? I got no answer, so I said well what dirt can I get as a replacement? The clerk said they don't do that. I said then I'll take a rain check. They don't do that either. I then said that I'll never ever be back, and that you're in business for one thing-to sell the things you say you have for sale. To choose to go here and for this? Nope. Home Depot has their dirt on sale, so wouldn't you know I went there and they had it. It's been a while since I've seen this place open. To be honest, I really hoped they'd get this business together 'cause I preferred shopping here rather than Home Depot. I'm not sure why they closed down in the first place, I have seen on occasion the older gentlemen arguing loudly with a few customers but out of the convenience for myself, while I lived in Suisun City, I liked the ability to drive down Pintail and pick up small nicks knacks for the house. So, I visited about a week after their opening. There were a lot of workers on the sales floor eager to help customers and had smiles plastered on their faces. I was looking at the wasp/yellow jacket traps and asked an ongoing worker a question, "What's there difference between this trap (specifically for yellow jackets) and this other trap that could trap both yellow jackets, wasps, and a few other critters?" I needed to know 'cause lately I've been having this massive wasp issue between a neighbor and I and for some reason I've seen an occasional yellow jacket here and there. The girl looks at me with the widest eyes and shouts for an older woman to come help us. She gives me this half ass explanation of the two items and walks away. I suppose walking a few isles down (Away from hearing distance) woulda been more appropriate for the older woman to tell the younger girl that she was really good at bull shitting the customers. Some of the workers are a bit inexperienced in this department, I know 'cause I had asked two other workers a question about floats for my back yard pond and they weren't able to give me a definitive answer and ran off looking for some guy that they'd hope know what to tell me. Anyways, the prices here are a bit higher than their larger competitors but I just didn't feel the need to ask if they price matched 'cause I'd hate to hear another phoney story about price matching, maybe they'd lie and say if I buy three of someone I'd get the fourth one 40% MORE! read more
