This location in Old Town is always fully stocked with seasonal decor and more. Associates can easily be found in the aisles even on those busy days. They are extremely helpful with merchandise and always take the time to check other stores as well as in entity in the back. I haven't taken one of their crafting classes but they are always full. The layout of this store is easy to access too, I've been to other that have floating middle aisles that I'm not too fond of. Parking here can be crazy but if you don't mind a short walk, shades parking can be found easily on the side of the building. They always have the BEST Halloween decor and crafts, and they are ALWAYS on sale! Copped me some glass Jack-o-Lanterns for $3.59. You also get coupons with every check out. Shop on folks! read more

Michaels - Hobby Shops Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I love going to Michaels stores during the holidays they have so many neat things. This location has awful customer service. Cashiers and employees walking around the store are rude and have an attitude that is unwelcoming. You can't ask them a question on where to find an item or if they have it in stock because they don't care and will give you attitude and a look of they don't care. Don't bother going to this location, it's unfortunate this store doesn't care to coach their employees. You'd think they'd care about customer service especially in this day and age where you have Amazon and several other stores to buy from. Without customers making purchases there is no store. read more

Favorite Michael's store! Well organized and Lots of good sale especially during the holidays! There are usually a lot of staff around to help and they keep the lines moving at the registers. Plenty of parking available. read more

I'm not crafty at all, but with the help of Michael's I was able to sparkle up my inappropriate Yelp valentine cards. They had a bunch of V-day themed stuff out, so that really helped. I've also bought picture frames here and that's been very easy. Other than that I don't really have a need for this place. But it's good to have places like this are around when I do! read more

Michaels has a ton of stuff for crafts, holiday decorating, gift wrapping, and all sorts of other fun, miscellaneous items. But if you want a pleasant experience, might be best to avoid customer service and just explore on your own. I recently stopped by during my lunch hour at work to pick up some ribbons. I was going to hunt down the ribbons on my own but, after being greeted by an employee, decided to ask her for guidance. I've never seen a customer-service person so flustered and frightened by a simple question... or so inarticulate in directing a customer to the proper area. I've never seen anything like this. I seriously didn't know whether to laugh or get annoyed. As I made my way through the store, I wondered how anyone like that even survives a job interview. I don't know...maybe Michaels hires anyone who walks in the door during the holiday season. read more

I mean...Michaels. If you buy something here without checking online for a coupon first, you may, in fact, be a fool. But a fool and his money are soon parted, or some BS like that. Stuff here seems well organized and pretty much where it should be. I've always been able to find what I wanted. Prices are decent when there's a sale, but if there's no sale going down, make sure you check prices on Amazon or something first, unless you've got some crafting emergency and you need your foam shapes and glitter ASAP. I went today to get a woodburning kit thing (I know, so random) and there were two different ones to choose from, which was chill. I picked the one I wanted and headed to the checkout. For some reason the line was super freaking long. Since I already planned on going to World Market I just put my item down and left. Came back about 15 minutes later and my stuff was right where I left it and the line was way shorter. NICE! Figured out why the line was long: the cashier, while super duper friendly, was super chatty. In her defense, Michaels seems to employ people that other stores may pass on, so kudos to them for giving jobs to those who are without. And I got out of there in a timely fashion, I just didn't really need to know that my cashier's boyfriend loves Panda Express although she does not (personally, I don't mind a lil' Panda Express every once in a while). Until next time, Michaels. Craft on! read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR CUSTOM MATTING. I brought in a sizable piece of black matte board, after speaking to someone on the phone saying that they could work a price out for me to cut out a custom measurement. The size of the board was a good 2' by 5', i gave him the measurements, and thinking i could salvage whatever was left he came back with two trips of matte that could not be used for anything. I think he cut the matte in the center of the board instead of flushing it to a corner You can imagine my frustration because their boards are not cheap. So instead of getting two mattes i get one matte (13"x18") So now i to buy a brand new one! Thanks michaels!!! DO NOT GET HELP FROM IRVING IN THE FRAMING DEPARTMENT. Worst customer service read more

We love Michael's, not only for their awesome selection of crafts, but for their reasonable prices (and coupons!). We have a home based bakery and we like to go here for certain items like cutters, pearl dust, and pans. Fun store! read more

Michaels - Great variety of card stock and scrap booking supplies - Hobby Shops Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Not too happy with Michaels. Got here to pick up my framing which was supposed to be ready on three days ago. "Oh didn't they call you? He asks. "Uh, no" says me. Well now they say they can't cut a mat the size I paid for and spent 30 minutes plannung with the OTHER framer. But....he can make it wider if I wait 10 minutes. 10 minutes later he asks, "do we have the artwork? I can't find it". "Uh yes" I say. 30 more minutes still waiting. Figured this was a good time to share my experience on Yelp. Spending $50 for 2 mats. None of their coupons or discounts applied to my order, of course. read more

If you know EXACTLY what you are looking for and EXACTLY where they shelve it here, you will have no problems. However, if you are looking for a specific something--especially in the arts department--most of the staff look at you like you have 3 heads. They seem to have expertise in most other areas (framing, crafts, etc) but if you are looking for art supplies, they don't seem to really know the products they sell and have no one on the staff that really knows that department. With the lack of dedicated art supply stores around (because of big box stores crushing out competition), it would be nice if they had staff that really knew about the products they sell. read more

Yeesh! Does everyone who works here have a stick up their butt? I asked one of the ladies if they sold lighters, to which she replied, "lighters? what do you mean lighters?". I didn't realize this was such a confusing question! Once I explained that the lighter would be used for lighting a BBQ and not for smoking cigarettes, which I assumed is what she was getting at, she showed me where they were. Geez, I came to buy supplies lady, not get life advice. Also, they are sticklers about the usage date on their coupons. I once tried to use a coupon a day ahead of time, and the cashier just handed the coupon back to me, quite rudely too, saying I had to come back tomorrow. Really?....Really? Sigh...Is it really that important that I come back the next day? Or is it that you hate your job and it makes you happy to see the annoyance in your customers' faces? I've been to a Michael's before lady, and the coupons work, no matter what dates are printed on them. Unfortunately this is the closest Michael's in my area so I continue to take the abuse and shop here. read more

This is not the greatest Michael's I've ever been to. it's just ok. Staff varies, but mostly unhelpful.

I go to this Michel's all the time but after today I doubt I'll ever go back to this location due to the sheer awkward tension. My girlfriend and I came into the store to each buy one item. I got a single refill of white watercolor paint. The cashier was polite and short and my brief encounter was mundane and normal, as usual. My girlfriend goes to the next available register as I am paying to buy some paint markers. The cashier, Lisa, proceeds to check her out as I stand next to her. She asks if my girlfriend is a rewards member, she said no. Lisa then asked my girlfriend for her email. When my girlfriend told her she was not a rewards member once again, Lisa told her she was signing her up. My girlfriend once again told her it wasn't necessary and she didn't want to sign up or give Lisa her email. **Lisa then proceeded to sell the Michael's Reward Program to my girlfriend like it was a pyramid scheme and if she didn't make that sale her family would be sent to the gulag.** Not wanting to come off like an agro-boyfriend, I stood there uncomfortably fidgeting with my receipt staring at this woman while she went on a journey about saving money for what seemed like an eternity. My girlfriend ended up having to tell this woman no 4 times before Lisa finally took her payment, THEN proceeded to give my girlfriend (who was too polite and nervous to be stern with this woman who was at least two times her age) a lecture on how saving money will help her down the road and she should really consider Michael's Reward Program. TL;DR: The cashier named Lisa made me and my girlfriend extremely uncomfortable when she wouldn't stop trying to sell us the rewards program and wouldn't let us pay and leave until we told her no 4 times. read more

I'd rather do the cinnamon challenge 10 times in a row than have my wifey send me on an errand here. Unless you've lived there, it's hard as hell to find things. The employees tell you they have things they don't have and it's crazy expensive unless you have coupons. Every day there to me is like Black Friday. A negative review, but it had to happen, my friends. peace. read more

Get Apple Pay. Get with the times. Mediocre customer service. They would not hold my paint behind the counter while I went to get home to get my card because they don't have Apple Pay. Treated me like I didn't have enough money to pay lol it's a digital world baby get with it read more

The staff at this location has always been courteous. I received excellent customer service in the framing department by a woman that helped me & my family put together a beautiful shadow box in a pinch for my aunt's funeral. The customers on the other hand are terrible.......pretentious, and will cut you off in the parking lot. read more

What a magical place. I went in with an oddly sized art print that needed to be framed. Issac (yeah, that's the correct spelling) was an ANGEL and took very good care of my print. He even trimmed it to fit a frame AND helped me put the it in the frame. Did you know you're probably doing it wrong? He was kind, fun, and put together a beautiful piece for me to hang in my home. It's perfect. He's perfect. read more

An average store. It's an American big-box store, so don't expect stellar service. Sometimes when I come here, I find an employee that is just amazing and happy to help, other times employees are like elusive ghosts. Saturday afternoons, while busy, seem to be the best times for hep in the aisles. Lots of items are locked up, even spray on acrylic for some reason. Apparently few people have the keys, so be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes for someone to come along. This location is well-organized and always well-stocked. However, their check-out lines are LONG. They seem to have enough people during peak hours, but it's peak hours so the lines are long. When it's not peak hours, they have maybe 1 or 2 cashiers, so the line is still long. read more

I went here to buy some Prismacolors because my old ones mysteriously disappeared. I was shocked to see that they're kept locked in a case. Really? Then, to my surprise, when the employee came to unlock them (took her a good 10 minutes to reply to the buzzer by the case) I discovered that Prisma is not the same quality it used to be when I was in college. For a small pack, I paid about $30. When I got home to use them, I noticed the quality just wasn't the same. I might be better off buying crayola at Walmart. As for the store, I really didn't interact with a lot of employees. Like I said in the previous paragraph, it took the employee a good 10 minutes to respond to my buzzer request. I was about to give up and go hunt for someone, when she finally appeared. The lady who rang me up was OK. Didn't talk much. I don't remember if she greeted me. I might come back, might not. I was only in the neighborhood because my brother lives in the apartments off Greenville. There is a Hobby Lobby closer to my house. read more

I like going to Michael's for craft items but their customer service is horrible! I only want to blame the ones I encountered today and not the whole staff because not all of them are unhelpful. I ended up getting the answer that I needed myself by calling. read more

Don't let some of the surly staff bother you. The same employees seem to be having rotten day every single time I go to Michael's. It seems to pain them to help you or check you out. I've never felt more unwelcome at any store in Dallas but I needed some very specific products they sell at Michaels. read more

Was not having good luck finding anything I needed and all of a sudden Petra was walking down the isle, gave me eye contact (which doesn't always happen in the retail industry) and asked me if I needed help. YES!!!! I told her my name and what I was looking for. She walked with me down a couple isles but we didn't have any luck so I moved on to the sticker isle. Petra found me in the sticker isle, addressed me by my name and told me she found what I was looking for. YES!!!! She found exactly what I needed. Then I called my friend to let her know to scratch Hobby Lobby and come to Michaels! Petra was great. She made my shopping experience easy and successful. I bought 3 of what she found for me. Thank you Petra! I am happy I met you! -Lauren read more

Customer service here is horrible! Trying to return a Christmas Tree (~200 on sale) the day after it was purchased that has an entire string of lights that doesn't work. Apparently this is a HUGE hassle for Michaels and they don't mind letting me know that their unhappy about (hauling it up three flights of stairs and putting it up only to find it doesn't work was NBD for me). They don't have any in left in the store to replace it but calling to other Michael locations to locate one, is "not their job". I asked to speak to the manager and was shocked to find out "Bonnie" WAS the manger. Apparently customer service isn't a priority for their staff including management. read more

Worst Michaels shopping experience ever for me. Crazy because I love Michaels usually but won't go back to this store. Always a long wait to check out. Always staff milling around in the store and not opening additional registers, but I know this, so when need arises, I still go to the Michael's which is conveniently next to my house. Until today, when after my long wait in line to return a product that I didn't use. And learned about expiring receipts. The same product is still in stock at full price -- the price I paid for it, listed on my receipt, but my receipt was expired. So Michael's gave me about $2.50 for a $6 item. Which is still on sale for $6 in the store. I know it's $3.50, but that it was never an enjoyable experience and that was the last straw. read more

Gone are the days of my childhood when I would spend all of the savings of my allowance on crafting items from Michaels, then spend days creating whatever fancied my imagination. But Michaels still comes through in my book when I need to get a painting framed. I recently decided to take the plunge and get a painting that I'd gotten in Brazil years ago framed so it wouldn't look so rustic on it's wooden stretcher board. The person who took the initial measurements and gave me a price quote was a trained artist who was able to offer me a well-qualified opinion on the aesthetics of matching a frame to the style and my painting. Then he made sure that I got the best price by telling me about the regular specials of the framing department and how to sign up for the email and cell phone notifications. In the end I got my painting framed for 50% off the original price. When I picked up the frame two weeks later (standard time-frame for their work) I saw that there was a promotion for 60% off... not bad at all considering I find that their regular prices are comparable to a store solely devoted to framing. And the quality of work is similar to enough to meet my standards. The only caution I would give is that at this location, the framing department can get quite busy on the weekends, so be sure to be prepared to not always just pop in and out. read more

I truly LOVE Michaels. But I always dread going into this store when I need something. Parking is so difficult. Last time I was in, an older (70+ yr) woman was checking me out. She was sweet but she had NO idea what she was doing and couldn't figure out how to scan the coupons from my phone. When I got to my car I had realized that she overcharged me $10. The other employees are often very rude and could care less about the customers. Is it really that hard to smile and say hello? read more

They are having a sale! 47% off on some merchandise! Sometimes they only have one of something but it's better than none! You can also order in bulk quantities. If you spend $100 or more the discounts begin at 10% and go up from there. Not bad for teachers needing art supplies. read more

One person behind the framing counter working by himself while no fewer than 4 other employees in red aprons roamed the store doing nothing. Stood in line for 35 minutes only to be told I needed to sign in to sheet that was hidden and they would call me. There were 5 people ahead of me. Management obviously needs to be retrained on how to schedule employees. Finally gave up, drove 5 minutes north to Hobby Lobby and they helped me right away. read more

The store is unorganized the products are of poor quality (noticeably worse than Hobby Lobby, which isn't the greatest either), and the employees are... i don't know.
