This Michael's has the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I walked around the frames department for nearly 30 minutes and no ever acknowledged me, said hello, or asked if I needed help. During my "tenure" in the store I decided that my art piece, which I had in my hand on full display, would need to be custom framed because of its size. I've used Michael's before, a different store, for custom framing and loved the outcome. But I refuse to give this store any of my money. read more

Even in the holiday shopping rush, Michael's maintains its cool and manages its customers and superfluous amount of glittery items in-line. I am starting to scare myself. I'm only giving 3 stars because this is the first negative experience that I've had at this Michael's. I've been here many times for different projects. I have had a custom mat done for me in the framing section before...it was affordable, quick, and easy! So I came back with my husband to get it done again for a couple frames. It was a different man in the framing section this time and he was absolutely terrible at customer service and just plain rude. He gave me an attitude from the start, simply because I asked if we could have some mats cut for some frames. He tossed (yes, tossed) the options down in front of me, made no effort to be informative or helpful, made snarky remarks the entire time, then tried to charge me over $70 for a mat for one frame. That's not including the frame. Absolutely ridiculous. He made us feel like we were inconveniencing him because he had to do his job. We decided to stop wasting our time and leave. I have had other employees here be very accommodating and helpful, but this man was not at all in line with that model of customer service. Very disappointing. read more

Awful. Took them 3 weeks to do a simple framing job when they said it would take 2. Put me on hold for 30 minutes when I called to check and it still wasn't ready. Never called when it was ready, which they promised to do. When I went to pick up the picture they had put it in the wrong frame and were out of stock of the frame I did purchase! They were rude, non-apologetic and all around terrible. I will never bring anything to this store to be framed again. Waste of time and money. Not to mention a complete lack of customer service. Several months ago I took in some 40 year-old watercolor paintings for new matting. I was substituting another image for one of the paintings which threw everything off as far as how wide the mats would be around the other two. The lady helping me (I believe the manager) could not have been nicer, more knowledgeable, or helpful. I was actually kind of stunned about how helpful she was. If I could give below one star, trust, I would. I opened up a yelp.com account for the specific purpose of exposing the nightmare that is Michaels on upper Greenville Avenue in Dallas. At about 6PM this evening, I ventured to the local Michaels to pick up a few things for my classroom. The store was clean enough, yet things were a bit hard to find. This however, is not why I'm upset. As expected, there were only two cashiers open to check out the line of about five people when I walked up. Completely understandable--I'm thinking not a lot of people have crafting emergencies at 6PM on a Saturday. As a teacher, I get a discount on my purchases, which is pretty much the only reason I came tonight (I was at Hobby Lobby for fabric earlier, and could have easily pick up what I needed there). Before the the girl started ringing up my items, I notified her that I was a teacher, and showed her my badge. After the transaction, the girl placed the receipt in my bag even though I asked for it in hand. I had some pretty heavy items, (two glass pieces) so I was unable to look at the receipt until I walked back to my car. I loaded up my crap, and low and behold, the girl did not give me my discount. I walked back to the store and stood to the side of the line that was now about ten people deep. Now, I'm not stupid, nor am I disrespectful, so I made eye contact with another girl checking out and asked her if I needed to get back in line, or if I needed to get a manager to refund the money that I was overcharged. The girl didn't seem to know what to do (more like didn't want to offer any help), and sure, I could have gotten back in line, but I didn't. I walked to the back and just so happened to run into the customer service manager. I told her that my teacher's discount was not applied, and that the girls at the front would not help me. Instead of immediately rectifying the situation, Vicki asks me: "Well, if you knew you got a discount, why didn't you tell her before you checked out?" She walks me up to the girl who originally checked me out--explaining that it was her (the girl) fault for not giving the discount and asked her to return the items. Knowing that there was a pretty big line, I was concerned about taking up the girl's time and asked why the customer service manager didn't just help the situation--she wasn't busy, and it is her department. She left me with the girl, who was unapologetic for her error and acted like I was an inconvenience. Immediately to my right, I hear two men negatively discussing the situation: "Look at her texting on her phone, she obviously doesn't care that there was a line and just jumped right in," etc, in harsher words. I turned around to the couple and tell them that I was sorry for cutting and that I asked the girls what to do and that the customer service representative brought me to the register to issue a refund, to which the man says, "I wasn't talking to you, bitch!" I was honestly taken a back, and embarrassed. Why didn't Vicki explain to the other disgruntled customers why I was "cutting" in front of them? Why didn't Vicki just do the return herself? Why was I even shopping at Michaels, when I had previously read about the poor service on yelp.com? So many questions, no answers. VIcki comes back up with another employee--still oblivious to the fact that the line is long, and people are becoming combative. I tell her what just happened in her store, due to her decision, and how the whole ordeal has almost brought me to tears. She tells me, "Oh, maybe I should have informed the line about your return." pats me on the shoulder, and walks off. Velcro, stamps, and a bitch out later, I am HIGHLY unsatisfied with the company, and wish I was offered a better resolution, and or remedy to the problem. Instead, I was embarrassed, berated, and ignored for a crummy company's crummy customer service. My final opinion is that Michaels' is the true bitch in this scenario, not me. read more

Parking is difficult at this store, carries a lot of craft products and good selections,,, however , do not expect much help from the employees, the two that I talked with had no clue where some of the items I was looking for where located. read more

Good items and they if what I need but this rundown overbuy u ed to a manager at the store yesterday 2/16/2015 and he told me exactly they open from 8am to 9:00pm, that is ridiculous. Customer service is horrible lets just compare this store to Walmart 5 or 6 registers and only 2 people running the register. Seriously hire more help or learn good customer service if the line gets long they need to stop what they are doing around the store and take car of customers I'm waiting for them to open and I'm going to talk to a manager because a different manager from last night lied instead of being honest and going to look ate door told me 8. This is my my home Michael's, as I frequent the Mesquite and Rockwall locations, but I was having a hard time finding what I needed and decided to come shop at this location. Selection and availability is pretty good, however, the three times I've come here the staff has been either unhelpful (3 different employees sending me to 3 different aisles in search of embossing markers/fluid) or flat out rude. Today, when showing the cashier my digital coupon, she got her manager over to help her. The manager looked pretty annoyed with my purchase, as I was using a 50% coupon on an item priced at $70. Then, the cashier followed suit and started to have an attitude about having to take it off and ring it back up. I then gave her my next coupon, never having any issues prior with cashiers scanning all the coupons I have available, and she said I couldn't use it. I told her that I've always been able to use them like that and she rolled her eyes and said "I'll give it to you this time but for future reference you're not allowed to do that." Okay. Sure. I won't be returning here in the future. Policies are meant to be followed and I understand that- however, I could have done without the tone and attitudes of the staff. read more

I love the Michaels chain, especially when I get to use their awesome 40% off coupon. However, I'm not a big fan of the shopping strip it's located in. It's possibly located in one of Dallas' busiest shopping strips. It's got way too many eateries and stores to be clustered together. Getting into the strip is as painful as getting out of it. I try to avoid this place during the holidays. The check out lines are discouraging and it's always crowded here. Be prepared to knock something over or bump into someone. read more

Michael's is definitely my to-go spot for crafting goodies. Swarovski crystals, felt, colorful paper, paint...yep, it's got everything. When I used to be a scrapbook-making queen, there wasn't anything I couldn't find here. If you know what you want, then this place can be great to visit. If you are one of those who doesn't know, then be prepared, because the staff is rather apathetic, and not very helpful. I asked a staff person where I could find clear beading string, and got little more than a finger pointed in one direction, without so much as a smile. Prices are not very competitive, either. I purchased one stem with fake orchids, and coughed up 7 bucks for it. Ouch! Since the days I was scrapbooking, things have definitely have gone up. And it never fails...EVERY single time I am in the checkout line, there is always a holdup, no matter which line you choose. They do not have enough staff to man the lanes, so be ready, because there will most likely be quite a wait involved. read more

This store is well stocked, great location. Bad parking though and customer service is pretty bad in my opinion. Asking an employee a question is disturbing them, the florists are never around, and some of them cashiers kind of scare me to say the least. When I'm in a craft store I'm going to have questions and need help so this isn't my first choice. read more

you can't expect a lot from michaels. shelves will be disorganized and the store will be messy. i find what i need but not much else. there is never anyone to help you so you better know what you want. i like the numerous cashiers so the line goes by fast. there's coupons online if you need one. read more

Just need some professional art supplies like me? There in the back, but be sure to use the coupon from the michaels.com website to get a proper price. Two things to note: the craft paints and professional art paints are in totally different parts of the store. Professional supplies like Golden acrylics are all the way in the back. Second, the pricing strategy here is coupon driven: the list prices are high, but the Michaels website always has a series of coupons available, usually including an "Any Item for 40% off" coupon. It's a silly game you have to play, but you can use your phone or tablet to download and use the coupon, so no need to print it out. read more
