I was surprised with the amount of Christmas they had left over, it was a nice assortment. I really didn't buy much as I came in for the photo boxes. I got 15 for 3.00 each. That was a nice price as I use them for gift boxes, I love that they are sturdy and can be decorated. I'm not a fan of the self checkout, I realize it is a sign of the times, but I used to talk to the cashiers and we would bounce creative ideas off of each other depending on the items I was buying. Now I don't have them to talk to anymore. I go to stores that still have people working as much as possible. But aside from that, I did get a lot of great items for Christmas 2026. Got a Weeknd concert outfit that needs golden applique? Michaels. Want to create a mini fairy garden at the base of a tree? Michaels. Need some beads to make some friendship bracelets for you, your friends, and Labubus? Michaels! I stopped in to pick up an online order. Ordering was quick and easy! I found the item I wanted which wasn't in stock at the Tempe location yesterday, so finding it online for pick up here at the Chandler store made my day! I walked in, and the online orders were already bagged up and ready for you to grab by the exit doors. I was greeted by the employees at the register as I searched for mine. It was easy to find as they have the bins in alphabetical order and my last name was taped on the outside. I was glad to have extra found what I was looking for, and didn't have to drive all over the place to get it. I'll be sure to check this location again for any future items I may need to decorate my new space! read more

Great store with large selection of sketch books. Staff were friendly and were able to help me locate the things I needed.

Came for some things to create a "creative gift wrapping" present for a party we were going to. It was white elephant with a twist...you had to present in a creative, non-traditional gift wrapping. After doing some on-line research, I found the cutest idea of a snowman so we headed to Michael's for materials. We worked with Michelle, who was simply magnificent! She had a box they were going to toss for the base and helped us with the ideas for the rest of project. Project completed and we had some materials left over so returned what was unopened and unused. Again, Michelle was gracious and friendly and loved the final pictures I showed her of our project. What a great Micheal's! It's not super big so you probably won't find everything you are looking for but for the most part they have the essentials. It is a very clean and organized store and the restrooms are also very clean. If you like to shop and not have to talk to anyone unless you need help this is definitely the one to come too. The staff was very nice when engaging with a customer but if you didn't signal that you needed help they let you be and I personally love that. The sale items are clearly displayed and overall this was a pleasant visit. The rewards at Micheal's are amazing and definitely keep me coming back! read more

Went to look at fabric and found the color I needed but as I noticed the top fabric had some white residue on it and I flipped more and noticed more on it. I tried to run it off to see if it comes off and it didn't. So went to the counter and let her know and if she could just cut off that piece and she said no you just need to wash it. I said I know but if it went through 2 layers I don't want to get it and it be stained and again she said no I can't cut it off you just need to wash it. Again I said I know but what if it stains again she just replied wash it!! I don't understand why she couldn't just cut off the pice it was under 1/2 a yard. We weren't given an item that was on clearance at the clearance price, and the person working at the cash register went and helped another person by scanning their entire cart and helped them pay even when we had been there before hand and needed help earlier. I can't believe I'm reviewing a Michael's, but here we are. The customer service at point of sale is pretty awful. I was originally going to go to self-checkout because I was in a rush. Terri since 2018 called out to me from behind the cashwrap stating she was available, too. I didn't want to be rude by blatantly choosing to check out with a machine than a human who went out of her way to make her presence known. When I greeted Terri and made small talk as she scanned my purchase, another customer finished self-checkout and started exiting holding a basket. Terri interrupted what I was saying to her by barking at this customer to place her basket at a certain location. We had a ribbon promotion that wasn't being applied at checkout. I explained where I saw the buy 2 get 2 free marketing. Terri scanned the barcode to check on a handheld device and told me it wasn't part of the promo so I asked my husband to take a picture of the marketing on the endcap. I had to show Terri the color ribbon was the same as my selection from the picture of the ribbons on that endcap. During this interaction, Terri also chastised me for talking to her when people were talking in her ear via store radio...I wasn't trying to be rude since I couldn't hear if someone was speaking to her via her radio earpiece. It took two people--another associate Kai since 2021, who was very efficient and friendly, along with a manager--to come and help Terri ring the promotional pricing from the POS not applying it. Terri first suggested to void the entire transaction. I asked if we could just ring the ribbons separately since I didn't want them to scan the entirety of the purchase again since I had already waited a long time. At this point, the line items for the ribbons had already been voided, so it would have saved more time to just ring them separately. Then when it came time to pay, I had to tell Terri twice I had a gift card I want to use before my credit card as tender. Terri sighed and visibly showed her frustration when she had to manually apply the gift card as tender. She also needed to get assistance from Kai...you would think a team member who has been working at Michael's since 2016 can handle a transaction. She probably just needs more training before being unleashed on regular customers. When I was leaving, I could clearly hear Terri complaining about our interaction with her coworker. If you're going to vent about your own incompetence, at least do it in the break room. It's no wonder this is the lowest-rated Michael's in The East Valley. read more

It's been a few months since I've updated my review. I feel a bit safer actually going into the store since people are being more cautious with Covid, I feel. I go into the store on weekday morning when it is not crowded, as it typically is on weekends. I get what I need and don't dawdle. Today, I went in for a couple of tee shirts. When I approached the register the cashier was polite and asked for my reward number. I started saying it and she asked me to punch it in the reader. Weird! Every other time I've been in the cashiers have done it themselves. I hesitated to touch the device since I'm a germ-a-phobe. It's you're register, lady. You key it in! Keep me safe, please. Another weird thing was that the credit card reader would not take my card. I told the cashier that and she said do it again or something along those lines. I tried again and I told her it once again did not take the card. The said in a tone, "Like I said..." I thought was rude. Maybe she didn't have her coffee today. I spend a lot of money here and have never had a response like that. All cashier have been personable. I was a bit shocked by her attitude toward a customer. (I was there at 9 a.m. today in case this girl needs management wants to have a friendly chat with her. There was only one person on the registers then.) Here are kudos though: when I do pick up after ordering online, there is typically a gentleman who retrieves my order. I'm not sure if he's the manager or supervisor on duty, but he definitely looks in charge to me. He is oh so helpful, efficient and personable. We chatted about the cool weather and it was nice to talk to someone outside of my home. He's a good guy and I appreciate him. I'll continue to go here since they have good pricing and I'm in their rewards club. read more

Michaels is everything and more you'd expect it to be! Cold sometimes, but amazing. The staff is super helpful and most of the time knows where EVERYTHING is unlike when I go to hobby lobby, and this Michaels is way bigger than most all the way to Gilbert! It's right by my place so we are there all the time! Curbside has been great to snatch and go when I don't wanna go in and it's busy. There's not as much product this year as there's usually is, which I'm guessing is due to Covid like everyone else who has "stock". I do wish they had apple pay like some of the other stores, but that's okay. OMG and if you shop there you HAVE to get the rewards program, they actually give you money back and coupons! I've probably been to this Michael's more than any other in AZ since it was the one closest to where I was living the nine months I was here in 2007. I usually get here two to three times every time I come to town to visit. They have a nice clean store, well organized and stocked. Some of the clerks are nice, friendly and helpful. Some probably couldn't care if their customers are dead or alive. I love to come in here with my coupons and get some item I've been wanting for 40 or 50 percent off. Unfortunately they now only take one coupon per day, where before you could use two or three as long as they were different (i.e. one frome the newspaper, one in the Tuesday flyers, one printed off the internet, one from Joann's, etc.) I did have a slightly bad experience on my most recent visit. I came in the front door and didn't see any of the small baskets. I had to go looking for them, which was a nuisance. I heard one of the clerks complaining a few minutes later about the baskets not being conveniently located and chimed in from my aisle. "I'm a customer and I agree!" I encountererd one of those clerks (not the one who made the comment) who seemed to not appreciate customer input. Hmmmm. Then she admitted it was the manager who said they had to be stationed where they are, instead of just inside the front door where we could pick one up easily. But she stilll didn't seem very receptive. When I owned my own business I was nice to even the jerkiest customers because when you are in sales, that's just what you do. read more

She went above and beyond to get what we needed. She also honored a sale price on an alternative product that was not available. This is the worst Michael's I've ever been in. The store was not well stocked. The Christmas tree display was particularly horrible. The larger trees were on a high raised platform so it was very difficult to get perspective on their size and how they might fit in your home. Note that the Michael's website has many more trees on their website that are online only. Many of those trees are from National Tree Company. I purchased a tree from that company last year. Let's just say the photos of their trees are very generous in comparison to reality. I wished I had saved the pictures to post them here. read more

This review is specifically for the "aaron brothers custom framing at Michaels" at the back of the store. I had two large prints that I was shopping for frames. Hoping to find something off the shelf that would work. Both to save money and time. Jessica helped me find exactly what I needed and offered advice on possibly trimming a piece to fit a ready made frame. She was so positive and helpful. Forget this location. I come to Michaels specifically for custom framing. I had two pieces done by them in the past, both of which turned out great. About three months ago, I brought a piece in to be custom framed. The employee working the framing department let me pick out a frame, glass, and matting. That's when things went downhill. She didn't know how to operate their electronic system to show me how the price would look when it was done, and literally held up pieces of frame and matting to the screen which didn't help. I trusted her, paid, and went on my way. I should have known better. A week went by and I hadn't heard from them so I called them to see if it was done. They said they attempted to call me, but found my number to be not in service. I asked what number they had, and they said 602-***-****. I told them no, my number started with a 609 and that I specifically told the employee to double check as many people hear me say 60 and then automatically add a 2 on. They apologized and told me the item was ready days ago, so I went in to pick it up. When I went in, the brought it it, uncovered half of it for me to look at because they said they didn't want to unpackage it all the way if I was taking it home. I thanked them, and left. Fast forward three months. We have moved into or new house and I go to hang the piece. I notice that the mat they put on it covers a portion of the piece on top. I am not happy. I call to see what they can do. An employee named Erin who was not helpful states that because I already took the item, signed the "contract" and time has gone by, they will have to re do it completely and charge me. I explain to them that since the girl working couldn't get the system to work and simply eyeballed it, it turned out poorly and it took me so long to notice because we just moved. She tells me there is nothing they can do, that I can't bring it in today because they are doing a reset and to come in tomorrow and they will tell me how much it cost. Unhelpful. Instead, I called the location off Stapley because I live in Mesa now. A gentleman named Gary answered in the framing department and I told him what was wrong. He told me to bring it in the same day and he would look at it. Brought it in, he took it apart, had it redone and better looking in about 20 minutes. I didn't have to leave it there over night for days, and best of all, HE DID NOT CHARGE ME. What a hero! That is how customer service should be done. Forget the Chandler location and go to Stapley for your framing. Check my pictures below to see the Chandler job and the fixed Stapley Job. Shame on this location for giving out such crappy customer service. I give them two stars since they did two prior pieces with no issue, but no more than that because of the awful customer service I received today. read more

Another Employee saw that there was a line and proceeded do her own thing until AFTER 10 mins to ring everyone else up. Another employee was just plain rude. Past management wasn't the greatest but in recent year or so it's changed. This is the closet store I have so my wife and I always shop here. I also do custom framing sometimes, usually everything is 70% off. The store is also smaller than most which is nice, not as hard to to find products. People will help you in the store if you ask! I've NEVER felt neglected or dealt with rude service there. Michael's is a craft store, not a 5 star restaurant. Some of the reviews seem to be from elder people who leave bad reviews when they don't get what they want. Not enough Christmas trees? Really? Leaving a bad review because you had to key in your own number? Everyone does. That's not "keeping you safe". Not enough people leave reviews for a good experience. Very unfortunate! By the time I got to the checkout the cashier was in the BEST MOOD, smiles and cheerfully happy! Christina was the cashier and I can honestly say I left the store in an even better mood than when I went in and I was in a pretty good mood when I got there. I dig Michael's. I go here for my scrapbooking supplies, and other crafty stuff that I may need. They carry loads of stuff-floral, art supplies, candles and do framing as well. The store is well organized, well lit, and they are open late! Plus, they also send out weekly coupons for 20-50 percent off, so make sure you use it! This place is right off the loop 101, and kind of hidden. Its right near a pier one, so make sure you keep an eye peeled for it...easy to miss, especially if its your first time there! read more

Michaels makes it a no-brainer for my Easter baskets. The past few years Michael's is my secret weapon for an epic Easter basket for my son, this year my daughter too! You would think major dept. stores have it figured out but the originality and options at Michael's make it way more cool and less cookie-cutter. My only complaint are the crazy coupon prices, we get it.. 60% off with another coupon but it's my biggest pet peeve when stores do this coupon craze and mess with the prices! An Easter basket isn't normally $39.99... why make it 60%off plus an additional 20% off, it's bizarre. However, that won't stop me from coming in and buying what I need for holidays! read more

Walked in today an a older woman who was working decided she would just stare with disgust instead of welcoming a customer didn't say hello just stared at my wife and I. Then a moment later a younger employee started following us around the entire store. When my wife and I were about to check out the woman that followed us around the store then goes behind the cash register to check us out without saying a single word because of I'm assuming how awkward it is to have to follow us around then be the one to check us out or she was just rude as hell. DO NOT!!! I REPEAT: DO NOT USE THE FRAMING SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION!!! I brought in a Navajo rug to be framed and they did a HORRIBLE job. Not only were the late in getting the job done, you could tell when looking at the frame that the rug was not centered between the top and bottom. The upper right hand corner of the matte was way smaller than any of the other corners. In addition, they only gave me 50% of the $532.62 I paid to have it CUSTOM FRAMED. The manager of the dept tried to blame the framing job on the rug being a hand woven. However, the girl that took the measurements of the rug only used a measuring tape on the counter when doing measurements. There's no way she could've taken accurate measurements since a grid was not used. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!! read more

I have never been in the store before and decided I would try it as I was looking for something for Valentine's Day. I walked into the store and the cashier an older woman with short hair said very loudly to three customers at the register why do people always come in the out door causing everybody in line to stop and look at me I was so embarrassed. What difference does it make what door you come in they should be thankful that they have customers. I did speak to the manager her name is Emily but it was spelled EMILLEEN she offered me $10 off anything I bought the store. I told her I didn't want any money I just wanted her to talk to this lady and let her know how inappropriate she was and then I left the store. I will never go back in there again and I will tell people how awful that lady was. read more

Michaels is a fun place to spend a few hours to become an inspired artist! I'm not a fan of the layout of this particular store, but otherwise I have no qualms with Michaels. I get turned off by the overly gaudyness of some of the items and the arts-and-crafts/scrapbooking stuff. Button was inside crowded store after standing there w no help for 5 minutes I was told to go to small office in back of store where store clerk had her mask hanging on her name tag!! I usually like shopping at Michaels but I just don't like this store. I don't like walking through the cramped doorway for starters. The customer service level also needs some upgrading. Luckily I could find the supplies I needed without needing any help. I've been in this store several times and the staff have never been all that helpful or friendly. This store is only down the street from Hobby Lobby where you can find some of the same items and then Jo-ann's really isn't that far away either, so you would think they'd be more responsive to their customers. This store could use a makeover and it needs to provide its employees with some customer service training. read more
