Craft stores are a dying breed, and while it can never replace the Joann's stores we've lost, I'm grateful we still have Michael's to pick up the slack. Supplies are geared towards hobbyists with basic beads, yarns, frames, etc, and lots of craft kits for kids. You've got random holiday decor as well and a few fabric notions, but not enough really start making your own clothing from scratch. What makes it so special is first of all, the endless coupons and deals, so you'll never pay full price if come prepared. Secondly, your mileage may vary, but the employees that helped me were remarkably kind! I was prepared to entirely abandon my purchase because of the price, but they hunted down a lower cost option for me. Above and beyond! read more

I spent $500 to have to albums framed at this location. When I received them, there were a large number of mistakes in the framing. For example, the mounts were supposed to be wire hangers; they were not. The vinyls were both supposed to be on the right side of the frame with the album covers on the left, they were not. I was given a gold frame instead of a silver frame. The album cover was reversed, displaying the wrong side. When I asked for these things to be fixed, the employees admitted that one of their personnel has just not been doing wire hangers because it is inconvenient. They showed me the order form showing that the vinyls were supposed to both be on the right side, but somehow even though they clearly were not, they refused to even admit that this was done wrong. I asked if they could either fix the errors or give me a refund, they refused to do either of these things. I will not come back and would recommend that you find a different place to frame your stuff. read more

Customers Beware. Store is understocked, unkept, and more importantly some of the staff are belligerent and rude, and simply do not care to be there. I asked for a manager, when the sales associate was unhelpful, rude, and had a condescending attitude. Ebony, the manager, was even more rude, and a bully too! She created unnecessary drama and later told me to go to the self service line to solve the problem. The manager used God's name in vain, multiple times. She spoke of me under her breath to staff and customers, looking for validation and approval for her abusive behavior. Ironically, Michaels is a store that is supposed to inspire creativity, the only thing the manager seemed to know how to create, was suffering. I tried calling the store manager several times the following day, to report the incident, but the store phone rang and was never picked up. I contacted their corporate office, and I am looking forward to speaking with the District Manager so that what happened to me, does not continue to happen to others. read more

I ordered two photo albums online. My money was held as a pending payment. 4 days later, I got an email saying my order was cancelled due to the items being out of stock. Service: Horrible. The site is super slow and if you need to talk to someone, you have to dig to find it. Good luck with that. You get a bot. Then a person with canned answers. If you don't receive an item you ordered, they will reship. If it's out of stock, they send you an email saying the shipment was cancelled and you will get a refund. When the refund is lower than the purchase price, they are happy to refund the extra, but you are out the tax you paid. Messed up! Very difficult process. I am sure they hope people just ignore it so that they can gain some profit off of that. Selection: It's pretty great, but hard to get from page to page. The site is so slow that looking around is super difficult. Think dial up internet from the 90s. Value: A lot of things come from China. One item was broken. Yes, one broken and one missing completely. No packaging material in the box, which makes the value a lot less. Some items are just fine. My ribbon is great. Took my frame and new poster to Michael to be reframed on 4/6/21. Mark, the framer, said they were really behind so we set the due date to 5/11/21. Now, the frame and mat were already finished. Just needed the poster replaced with a new one and the back resealed. Yesterday, I called and there was no one in the framing shop. Today I called and they are restaffing. My job isn't complete and they don't know when it will be done. I don't think they have any framers. Why wouldn't they have sent the job to another store? Or communicate with me, the customer. Do not ever go to this store if you are buying a basket full because employees will ignore you and continue talking rather than ask if you would like to check out at their register. Just bought 4 bags of breakables and had to wrap up, scan and pack each myself on the small area provided at self-checkout along with the rest of my basket full. Over $200 worth of product and having to check myself out is ridiculous. It was not to lack to staff, but rather piss poor service skills on behalf of the employees. Terrible experience in the Framing department at the Arboretum store. I went in to have three pieces of art installed with glass. The two women scoffed at me and bickered back and forth as to whether they should do this. I have been a long time customer of Michael's Cedar Park location and have given that store tons of business. Michael's should consider closing the framing department here as there were no other customers and these two associates didn't want the business. Go elsewhere with your business. read more

Wow I hardly ever review stores let alone give them a 1 star but tonight I just had to. They were super unhelpful, not understanding and pretty rude. Then looking at these reviews I realized I am not the only one who feels this way. Wow. Is it Michael's, this store only or it's poor management? We purchased a large bulletin board here and upon getting home realized it's slightly warped. We mounted it to make sure it wasn't our eyes playing tricks on us and lightly wrote on it to make sure and as it mounted for couple days it got more warped on its own! We checked online and saw complaints on the same model and how it was defective. So we decided to return it. We had the receipt and online info to show them and all too. Tonight we took it back but wow all 2 clerks were unapologetic, didnt even want to look at the online info and said because it's used they can't exchange it and they wrongly judged us saying we used it a very long time (which we didn't and the receipt shows it was last week when we got it :/ They were loud and rude and of course everyone in line behind us stared at us. There's only 2 lines opened and of course we drew a crowd ugh They called the manager and we hoped she would believe us when we said this was warped to begin with but wow she was more abrupt and adamant than her cashiers! She walked away too after firmly dismissing us. We were livid but didnt want to cause a bigger scene. What ever happened to exchanging a defective product? We shop here all the time too. Um not again. This location or Michael's is not that nice. Looking at these reviews spanning years I wonder if their management even cares. We are taking our business and school needs elsewhere from now on and will tell everyone we know that at least this location it's pretty bad in customer service. I would not shop here after today. My complaint to Michaels Crafting Store I shop at Michael's a lot. I'll include a copy of the purchases I've made just in the past few months. Today, while shopping at the Everett Washington Store (1325B SE Everett Mall Way Everett, WA 98208) I had brought in my little reusable bag (9" x 12"). I've done this many times. Empty. I was shopping in the hobby paint section making my selections. I'm sure it was the store manager who came over and asked me if I was finding everything. I said yes and continued to pick colors. She then told me in a very accusatory manner that "We don't allow reusable totes while shopping. Use a basket. It's not allowed". This is the first time I have ever been told this. I've shopped at a Michaels for years. I'm an artist and a crafter. I'm also the Assistant Store Manager at Archie McPhee. I'm professional, clean, dress well and I've never been treated like a shoplifter at a Michaels store. You'll see that I've spent a lot of money at your company. I usually buy professional acrylic paints, recently spending over a hundred dollars there. I doubt I will ever shop at your Everett location again. It felt horrible to be treated like your manager treated me. I needed the paint for work so I made my purchase and left. I'm sorry that this store must be in such a bad location that every customer gets treated like a shoplifter. I have never shoplifted. Plus I work in retail. I know the routine. I had a $200 Order ship to wrong address. I called Michaels immediately (minutes after I hit submit) to correct. No service center open on Sunday evenings. I called first thing Monday morning to correct and the service center said they cannot stop the order and they could not correct the address. Then I had to call everyday for 5-6 days as the whole order needs to SHIP before anyone can help me. Final call with service center said they WILL NOT replace or refund because Michaels thinks I am a fraud. Do not order on line with Michaels. Their e-commerce is out dated. I've been trying to find a picture frame to put a memorial tree planting certificate for both my parents who passed recently and I wanted one that also had room for a 5x7 photo. I decided to order two No: 1010888 "Black Document & Photo Frame, 8.5" x 11" & 5" x 7" by Studio Décor this week from Michaels online. Both frames were falling apart coming out of the box and I have no idea what kind of material this product uses in the frame but it literally crumbles in your hand and reminds me of Styrofoam. This was the first time purchasing anything from this company and besides quality of the product the quality of their packaging needs work. They did not use any bubble wrap for these glass frames, only thick paper in between the two items. Curbside is total bs. The website always says items are in stock that are not. I haven't experienced a curbside order that's worked out yet. I've ordered items "in stock," waited all day (hours) for a text that the order is ready, my credit card gets charged, it's "too late to cancel the order", and I never get a pick up time that the order is ready. This means the item is actually being shipped to the store. If the website accurately stated the item was not in stock, then I would've chosen home delivery. It's a shit show every time, and I regret not buying on Amazon versus getting stuck in the this trap. read more

I found frames for my certificates. Later had to unexpectedly exchange one because it would not let me insert my picture. After i returned, the cashier who remembered me accused me of making the frame 'dirty'. She said this well after the item was out of the bag too. I had returned the very same day I had originally bought the defective item. I don't know how I could have had time to get it dirty let alone as dirty as she claimed. And she had not noticed the 'dirt' when I first came back either, The store itself is badly lit in the back where the frames are (older shopping center). And this was middle morning! If worse came to worse, I suppose that could have just filed a claim with my bank and cancelled this fraudulent charge on my account. The whole point of buying a frame IS to be able to put a picture in it. If you cannot do this, the frame is useless. But they DID exchange the item for another frame of a similar price which is working. Basically I only go here if I absolutely have to. I don't make regular trips. read more

This star is being given on the sheer laziness of management and employees at this location. We are planning a wedding and have been purchasing wood slices at various stores in Austin. We stop in once a week to this location to see if they ever have any that are of a larger size and it's always the same ones. Nobody seems to be interested in these, except us. Last Friday night around 730pm, we went in to see if there were any larger-sized ones and a worker who seemed only slightly annoyed said they had 9 in stock. I told her we saw 5 and asked if they had any larger ones in the back. She said she would have to check with her manager, Mary. I guess only Mary is allowed in the back? We then found Mary and she said that 4 probably sold and that their system wouldn't update until the next morning so the 5 is what she had available. You mean to tell me that someone bought 4 today? Okay, sure. We both didn't believe her so we decided to wait until today to go in ask again. Lo and behold! Guess what? You'll never believe this! They did have the other 4 and they were up high in their storage bins. When we asked the worker for assistance she was full-on annoyed. Sorry you have a job and make money. Jesus! Unfortunately, this store has lazy employees including Mary the 'manager' who appears to just stand around and make up stories rather than move merchandise. The prices here are a joke! I haven't stepping foot in a Michaels in a hot minute, but when I came here, I saw 50/60/70% off. At first, it seems like a good deal, but everything is marked up 100%+ so if something is a "heavily discounted", it's usually from an astronomically unreasonable starting price point. The marketing is deceptive and disappointing. I would like to see this reformed to better reflect true value. Horrible service online. I placed metal print order online at the beginning of December as a Christmas gift. My credit card was charged but 2 weeks later I still didn't get any updates on my order. The status online still indicated "received" even though my credit card was already charged. I tried to email customer support to check the status and tried calling. After 10 min on hold the call was always routed to voicemail. I left messages and sent email and nobody called me back. I complained via social media and was told that I will get a call back. After a week of me calling and going on social media I was given another reference number with tier 2 with no information on what happened and when I'd be getting my order. Christmas came and went. I tried calling again and got nowhere. After yet another attempted to call, I was on hold for 1 hour. I got to tier 2 support, who spent 10 min on the phone "researching" the issue to discover that my order was sent to print but somehow for some reason didn't print. I asked her if it could be sent again and was told that it can't be send again unless I submit another order. Moreover, they had no way of knowing there was a problem with the order until 3 weeks later when I finally managed to get to somebody to open a tier 2 case after 6 or 7 calls and multiple emails and messages via social media. I was told that they will investigate with their IT to figure out the solution. Alternatively, I was offered to cancel the order and re-submit the order. Needless to say that I requested to cancel the order and I won't be re-submitting the order with Michaels Custom Framing or any other department/service at Michaels. I had to urgently purchase my custom metal print from a different provider and pay extra $20 for expedited overnight shipment to try to get the gift for my husband for the New Years. Don't work with that business! Unprofessional, customer support drops the calls or doesn't pick up, no tracking internally on the orders.... Horrible experience! read more

Two times now I have called Michaels... Two times now I have called Michaels asking if an item was in stock. Put me on hold for over 20 minutes yesterday. You item was in stock. I verified it again and person was a bit testy that I was questioning. So we are an hour away from the nearest Michaels or Joanns and Hobby Lobby. So we take the drive and they told me they didn't have it. Not only did they not have it, but told me they don't even carry it. This is the second time. Today I placed an online order for 2 little items and paid for it. Got the email, drove again and they tell me it's not ready. So they had to send someone home early but there were a couple on the floor talking amongst themselves. So had to wait till someone would take the time to fill it. No more! Inefficient, disorganized, STAY AWAY from this store. No signage telling people where to pickup online packages. So stupid, such an easy fix. To save time I ordered online, paid online, and was to pick up at the store. They sent three emails, the final one describing in tiny print where to go in the store to get the package. I didn't notice that. A sign in front referred only to UPS packages. Two very very very slow cashiers were serving over ten customers, lined up. I stood in line twenty minutes. Then was told to pick the page up in the back of the store by the sign that was hard to see but said UPS PACKAGES-PICK UP HERE--except this as not a UPS package. Not a word about online packages. Then the clerk had to get someone else to get the packGes, not his department. The manager comes, gets the package. Thirty minute waste of time. read more

I reviewed the return policy before I ordered and it looked simple. First tier acted confused and hoped I'd give up, after hauling two big boxes in that weren't what I thought they were? Ha no. She calls some kind of manager, super rude lady. She was rude to me and rude to her employees. I was patient and nice, she just came out of the gate an unpleasant person. On July 20, we dropped off three pieces to be framed. On August 4 (one day after the proposed completion date), we received a call stating they were ready for pick-up. On August 9, we picked up our framed pieces. The craftsmanship was beautiful. We were very pleased with the end result. We took the pieces home and noticed one piece didn't have a wire for hanging. I drove several miles back to the store to have them wire the framed piece. They did so. It would have been nice to have saved gas and not returned to Michael's for the mistake made. There was no apology for the inconvenience of our time or money spent for gas returning to the store. That's pretty frustrating but I'm sure the management is to blame for stretching their employees for $7 an hour and not giving them the clearance to make up for store made mistakes.
