My husband and I love Michael David's wine and had visited their winery several years ago.  While on a road trip, we decided to stop here again.  Their gift shop is amazing, and they have a restaurant on the property too.  Our server was Vanessa Galvan, and she was fantastic.  She was so knowledgeable and helpful.  We ended up purchasing a bottle of 2022 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and a bottle of 2022 Reserve Zinfandel.  Their tasting fee is $15 per person, and they don't waive the tasting fee with a purchase.  We had a great time visiting this winery! read more

This was our second visit to the property. Our first before the pandemic. While some things have changed, the most important things have not. The property is breathtaking, relaxing, and serene. The wine is exceptional, and the amenities too notch. When in the area, be sure to include this on your list. The outdoor patio area is well worth the reservation and experience. Stopped here with friends for lunch. Their specialty is Chicken Tortilla Soup, which I always order. So delicious. Everyone else had burgers. My husband loves the burgers here. We took my mom here for an early mothers day celebration. My mom doesnt drink but I chose this winery for the beautiful scenery. Its really lovely. We had their flight and at one point I asked my sis if the wine was really good or if I was really thirsty. The wine was really good! We grabbed some snacks, took pictures, enjoyed the outdoor patio and at the end I joined their club Next time we'll try their food, they have homemade pie! Oh its also very kid and pet friendly! Beautiful winery with gorgeous flowering trees and gardens! Went with my member friend and was treated to a tasty spicy Hawaiian pizza, refreshingly crafted white wine and mango sangria and a red sangria and a delicious cheese, olives, and meats charcuterie tray. Next time, I will try the Tart Flambée. The tasting was superb too although the pours could be a little more generous. They have a cute marketplace complete with local produce that's reasonably priced: just $2 per lb for Yukon gold potatoes! Don't forget to pick up the spiked brownie or blondie drenched in their wine. Picked up the Freakshow Zinfandel. Yet to try it. Member price was just $13.50 that made me do a double take! I love love love the wine here, and once we got service, the service was great. We learned about the wines, had fun with the sommelier, and felt like we got a full experience. The four of us came without a reservation on a gloomy day in the middle of the week. The vineyard itself wasn't outstanding, and we could not sit outside as they took in all the seats, even though it wouldn't rain that day. The inside tasting room we were placed in didn't have any seating for us, as we were not sat at the bar. Overall, I would pop over for a tasting but I wouldn't want to stay here and relax with a bottle unless there were better seating options. read more

One of my go to wineries in the Lodi area. Michael David has a spectacular outdoor tasting area with greenery, flowers, and water feature. There are 2 indoor tasting rooms as well. The smaller one is attached to the cafe/restaurant. They host different events throughout the year, more so in the summer. Top favorite would be Cinco de Vino. I use to be a wine member but I wasn't going through my wine fast enough. FYI they offer member benefits and discounts. read more

Day 2 Stop 2 Ok, IMHO It's one of the largest and best organized retail wineries in the Lodi/Galt area (maybe even in all of the NorCal area as well) I'm sure some of you may be familiar with labels of Earthquake, FreakShow, Pinot Pinot.... as they are all around in markets and box stores right? Well, you are never too old to learn a few things as I found out their vintage bottles are quite delightful including Cinsaut, a 2000 year old vine who's grapes (and the winemaker of course) makes a delightful bottle of wine. In the summers, they have their outdoor dining overlooking their pond. Or you can select a table outside in the patio area (just look for the Freakshow lights) At anytime of year, you can do your winetasting in their wine room (climate controlled to a nice 69 degrees). Thank you Kylsee for being such a wonderful hostess. Can't wait to taste with you again! Went wine tasting yesterday with a reservation for a party of 8. Tasting fee was posted on the tasting menu as $15 per person, but we were charged $20 per person because we were considered a "Large party." We were going to purchase a couple of bottles but was informed that it would not be deducted or tasting fee would not be waived, which has been the norm at other wineries. We will definitely not be returning especially since their wines were just mediocre. read more

The service at the outside bar could've been better, the server at the counter was a bit rude. As wine club members we were here to pick up our wine and decided to do wine tasting today with my wife at 10:30am a day after July 4th was a perfect time. Not too many people inside. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable as always. Wine is good. After tasting we decided to stay and sit outside, so we ordered a bottle of Rapture. We were lucky enough to be able to sit in the bistro. We ended up ordering lunch, pepperoni pizza & cheesy garlic bread. The pizza hit the spot, plenty of pepperoni crust was cooked perfectly. We were treated like peasants in an establishment that feels very commercial and condescending. We were on the Lodi Wine Tour for Valentine's Weekend. We walked up to a station for a tasting and on got shunned away because some other couple who wasn't there had that spot. The tasters did not bother ushering us to another spot to welcome us. Tried to order pizza here (used to just be able to order it without stipulations) but apparently now if (for example) there are 7 people with us, we have to all pay $20/person (7 pizzas or bottles that equate to $20/person) in order to buy a Pizza. We visited the winery this afternoon for a reservation, and the property itself was absolutely beautiful. Walking to our seats, we were surrounded by a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We were seated near the children's section and the chickens, which my son loved, he had a great time by the waterfall, playground, and watching the chickens. Service started off a bit slow. It took a while before anyone came to our table, but once our server arrived, he introduced himself and helped make suggestions for wines we might enjoy. He checked in a few times after our wine and appetizers arrived. One thing that surprised us was that everything came out in to-go containers. The charcuterie board was pre-made, which made for a less-than-ideal experience, having to open all of the little packages ourselves just didn't feel like something you'd expect at a winery. It seemed like our server may have forgotten about us near the end of our visit. Over an hour went by before he returned, and we had to flag him down to place our lunch and additional wine order. He apologized and brought the check, which we paid while continuing to enjoy the rest of our wine. Then things took an awkward turn. A girl came by and asked to collect our menus. When we asked if they were closing soon, she replied, "We already are closed." This felt a bit abrupt, so we responded, "Oh, our waiter didn't tell us the winery is closed." She answered, "Yes, he tends to be really quiet but it is closed." I looked at the time and saw it was 4:38 p.m. online it states the winery closes at 4:30 p.m. At that point, there were still plenty of other guests around, so there wasn't any indication it was time to wrap up. While we quickly finished our last glass of wine, another employee came by and said, "They were closing in about 20 minutes so we should begin wrapping things up." I went to use the restroom and was surprised by how many guests were still on the property, especially since we were being pushed to leave. My family mentioned that while I was gone, someone else came by again to tell us to wrap up and we promised we'd leave after "the last 2 sips of wine." This is genuinely a beautiful property, and I can see the potential for a wonderful experience. But unfortunately, the inconsistent and awkward service toward the end really left an impression. I'd love to come back, but next time I'll be sure to book an earlier reservation to avoid any confusion or uncomfortable interactions at closing time. read more

This place is beautiful yes, but that is basically it. The service my boyfriend and I received was not very pleasant and also the staff were not very friendly when I was asking questions regarding wines etc. There was a guy at the "bar" who was serving, he looks Latino maybe mid 30s wearing lipgloss.. Anyway, he wasn't very receptive to me and my questions as he kept brushing me off and not being very patient with me. I'm not a big wine person, but I'm trying to learn more about it. Our second visit and this time we did the Bistro and Bottles experience. What a great spot! The pond is gorgeous! I wanted to touch on the fact I did have a reservation for 5 but the other couple and their child were sick and couldn't make it. I called that morning and spoke to someone regarding the issue and asked if it were ok if my husband and I to keep the reservation since this spot requires a 4 person min. I was put on a brief hold and the gal came back stating not only will they refund my CC the $15 deposit for the 3 people that couldn't make it but they will also honor our reservation! We showed up at 2pm, beautiful but a little breezy and were seated within minutes. Our waitress was awesome! She gave us a recommendation that went perfect with our sausage vodka sauce pizza. We were there for a couple of hours and enjoyed our time very much. We will be back for sure! read more

What once was our favorite breakfast place in Lodi, but no longer.. For Father's Day 2025, we hoped to start the day with delicious breakfasts and fantastic service. Unfortunately, we had a deeply disappointing one at Michael David Winery's breakfast cafe instead. As they do not take reservations, we made sure to be there 15 mins before they opened the doors. Good timing too, as we were the 2nd party of a growing line. This is where the first issue occurred.. When taking our names to be seated, the host ignored us, seating the party who arrived after we did. I mentioned to her that we had arrived first, but she seemed very unconcerned, brushing away the info. Not the best way to start a dining experience.. Service used to be so much better here. Several of our orders were either completely forgotten, incorrect or arrived cold; leaving us waiting far too long for our food. Tables who were seated after us got their food 10min before we did, even though we placed our orders in first!! Our server was friendly and attempted to fix our orders, but the staff overall, seemed a bit disorganized and indifferent, which ruined what could have been a lovely morning. From prior breakfast experiences her, I expected so much better. We used to look forward to enjoying delicious food, amazing service, a couple bottles of wine and homemade jam to go. My friend and I decided to try a new place for brunch and he picked The Farm Cafe at Michael-David Winery. After finishing a tasty meal there, we figured why not try some wine tasting seeing as the place was packed and the grounds were beautiful. We put our name on the list and as we waited we walked around the grounds. There is lots of areas to sit and enjoy your wines purchased in the gift shop, both for members and non-members. The grounds are stunning with waterfalls, pretty landscapes and even a playground area for the children that's located towards the back. Finally it was our turn to be shown where we would be wine tasting. We were placed outside; though next time I would like to try inside the building, and had plenty of room to space out at the pouring station. Our sommelier was named Danny and he was absolutely the best sommelier I've ever met for the following reasons. He had us taste the same varietals from different vintages and blending styles. He showed us the actual grapes used to make the wines we were tasting and explained the geography and how it plays a big part in the wine they produce. He always had an answer for our questions and competitor comparisons. He even provided us tips with other places to try that suited our tastebuds. Danny had a plethora of knowledge and really made the experience one of the best! Thanks to Danny we will for sure be back and left that day with a bottle of 2020 Inkblot Petite Sirah and a bottle of 2021 6th Sense Syrah. read more

I have been here a few times for tastings with a friend on mine. She is a wine club member and really enjoys coming here. The tasting room is lovely and the grounds around it are also nice, so on a pretty day it can be a very nice experience. There has only ever been one person serving the couple of times I have been there and that keeps them busy. Also on our last visit, I felt like the greeting was not very warm and my friend had to verbally say she was a member before we got any service. I feel like the wines themselves are just ok and despite it's small location out in the vineyards and the beauty of the tasting room, it just all feels very commercial. My friend has purchased plenty of bottles, but even she typically gives them as gifts and I rarely see her open one for herself. I say, sign up for the free membership and tasting and find out for yourself if you are curious because everyone has their own unique tastes. read more

Such a cute winery! I booked an indoor reservation and there was a lot of space inside. The outdoors was also gorgeous with lots of flowers and decor. I think it would be great to try an outdoors reservation as well, each seating area was well-shaded with lots of umbrellas surrounding chairs. My favorites were the Symphony (semi sweet white wine) and the Reserve Cab Sauv! Would highly recommend those if you go. I was not as big of a fan of the Sauvignon Blanc, it leaned more tart/citrus forward for me that I prefer. The Inkblot Cab Sauv smelled like bell peppers so I did not love that...but at least it tasted better than it smelled! The Reserve and Petite Syrah were smooth, medium to full bodied reds. Tastings are either $10 (standard) or $15 (reserve/limited release). The reserve tasting really pays for itself because you get to try bottles that are on the higher end in price. read more

As I looked at previous Yelp reviews, I noticed that only a scant number had been written in the last few months about this winery, which is puzzling given how busy this place is. Anyhow, we recently celebrated my wife's cousin's husband's birthday at this amazing winery with family and friends. My wife and I arrived around 2 PM, and even though the parking lot was quite large, it was a bit of a challenge to find a spot because the winery is so popular. From the moment we approached the outside check-in table, the staff was incredibly friendly. The rest of the party had not yet checked in and showed up approximately 45 minutes after the reservation time. In the meantime, we took a quick look around the store, which had a large assortment of wines and wine-related souvenirs, snacks, and more. We then made our way outside to the patio. The patio encompassed several tables with umbrellas and many shaded areas. The landscape was absolutely stunning, and we managed to snag a table with a great view and shade. We enjoyed a bottle of Michael David's Symphony wine, which was simply delicious and refreshing as it was one of their semi-sweet white wines. Once our family and friends joined us, we moved to the reserved tasting room. The ambiance was perfect for our celebration. We wrapped up our visit when the winery closed at 5 PM. We did two wine tastings, red wines and white wines. Nicole helped us, she was very nice and attentive. We loved the wines. My husband signed up for the membership, and we got some wines and a free wine glass to bring home, red and white wines were very good. We received a thank you card from Nicole, sent to our home few weeks later. Thank you Nicole, for your great service and great wine.
