For us we came here mostly for the wine because our friends were members and they had always talked about how much they like the wine and grounds here. I could definitely see why they chose to be members of this place and I was so happy to have an afternoon with them here. The wine that we got the Sauvignon Blanc was definitely refreshing as it was a very hot day and even though we had a red not going to lie we put it on ice just for a little bit to get a little bit cooler and that definitely made it even more enjoyable. I am eager to go back and check out some of the other events and wines at this location.

I had the huevos rancheros. Its not the usual dish that was made the same way. The cafe had jams and pies to sell. Then i went outside to check out the backyard. It was such a lovely and impressive outdoor space with water falls, wine vineyards, chickens, playgrounds, ponds, flowers and bathrooms. Then the wine tasting had an array of bottles. Of course, the freakshow is my fav label! But then there was the inkblot!

Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.

We were expecting to see Lockeford sausage there like last year at their Flower Festival, but sadly they weren't there :( one of their hot dogs would've been AMAZING with our wine. :( We did see another hot dog vendor that sold hot dogs and told us their hot links were from Costco, and no hate on Costco, I love me a Costco hot dog, but once you've had a lockeford sausage, you won't go back! There seemed to be less food vendors this time. We came prepared with our lawn chairs and blanket. although not needed b/c we got there early enough and there were tables available but it was nice to sit in the shade in the lawn closer to the activities. Now for being a family-friendly event, we only saw porta potties and my husband asked the security person if there was a baby changing station and they said they didn't know. Then at the end of the day as we were on the train, it passed by the other set of portapotties near the kids zone, and surprise surprise, there was a changing station set-up but it was HIDDEN behind the last porta-potty. And we had used those earlier, but there was no signage to indicate hey, there's a changing station around the back. I think better communication among all of the staff is needed. the day went super fast. There was plenty of things for the kids to do.

She is warm, kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and has a way of making every guest feel genuinely welcome. Every visit is relaxed, educational, and so much fun because of her. I recently brought my parents to visit from the East Coast. They loved the wines, but they loved Mary Lou even more! My dad is a longtime wine collector, and she took the time to share her knowledge and have thoughtful conversations with him that made the experience truly memorable. It wasn't just a tasting--it felt like spending time with someone who genuinely loves wine and loves sharing that passion with others. Of course, the wines are fantastic, but outstanding people are what keep us coming back. Mary Lou is a huge asset to this winery and one of the reasons we'll continue to be loyal members. They offer a tasting with a guided tour, that includes 5 tasters for $20. I was pleasantly surprised to have started off with a club exclusive and we were also able to take a quick peek and enjoy a few moments in the members grove. We took a walk by the vineyards and then continued on with our tastings. The wines are organically grown and I really enjoyed every single one of them. At the last pouring, we were took a quick tour of the Grand Chai Barrel Room, which is literally the coolest room in the house. It is filled with French-oak barrels of aging wine and a bunch of really cool stuff. You'll have to visit to see for yourself... I really enjoyed the guided tour, listening and learning all about the beginnings and history of this winery. Glo was so sweet and very knowledgeable. From the very beginning, Evonne was incredibly easy to work with. Communication was quick, planning was stress-free, and they made the entire process seamless. We hosted a private after-hours bday wine tasting for our guests, which made the celebration feel extra special. The venue is beautiful and welcoming, with plenty of parking, comfortable indoor seating, outdoor seating, and fire pits that made for the perfect atmosphere on a beautiful summer evening. Our guests loved being able to spread out, relax, and enjoy themselves. The wines were a huge hit with our group. My family absolutely loved the Symphony (what I like to call a "beginner's wine" because it's so approachable and easy to enjoy). My personal favorite was the Zinfandel, with the Cabernet as a close second. The Red Blend and Syrah were also excellent. Honestly, all of their reds were fantastic. While I'm not typically a white wine drinker, I appreciated the variety they offer. One of the things I appreciated most was how easy everything was.
