My kids surprised me with lunch here on Mother's Day. I was so happy they did! I had been wanting to come here for a long time! Walking in we were greeted by the hostess that was so nice. We had reservations so we got seated very quickly. The decor of the restaurant was so cool. To all the wine bottles hanging on the ceiling , to the piano on the up stairs level (that I can only think they must have someone playing on certain days), to the detailed wood on the seats and ceilings. I absolutely loved the ambiance of this place. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. He brought us out fresh dinner rolls with butter and they were absolutely delicious. We ordered ourselves garlic cheese bread as an appetizer. Really tasty. I ordered myself the chicken Parmesan that came with spaghetti on the side. The hubs ordered lasagna and my sone got his with meat balls. My daughter ordered the chicken Alfredo. My chicken Parmesan was cooked perfectly! Now let me tell you about the spaghetti!! Miceli's has ALWAYS been my favorite Italian Restaurant since I was a kid. Well known for their Pizza and Lasagna, EVERYTHING ON THE MENU THAT I'VE TRIED IS EXCELLENT (I have never tried the Veal because I don't eat veal). Service is top notch and the nights when the waiters and waitresses sing ... That's an added bonus. It's ALWAYS BEEN A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT FOR ME (over 40 years). First we attended an event at the Egyptian Theater around the corner. Everything here went well. We were seated right away with a choice of tables. The waiter was very good with quick service. This place is old Los Angeles in the best possible way. Not fake-old. Not Instagram-old. Real, survived-the-decades old. Lunch here with my friend Michael felt like stepping onto a movie set where Italy had a baby with a Golden Age Hollywood set designer, and nobody ever told them to update anything--because why would you? The red booths, the murals, the dim lighting... it's part trattoria, part time machine. Miceli's Italian Restaurant has been holding court since the late 1940s, back when Hollywood still wore suits to lunch and martinis were considered a food group. You can feel it the second you walk in. This place has seen deals, dates, heartbreak, auditions, and probably a few quiet meltdowns in the bathroom mirror. I ordered the meatball sub, expecting something decent. What I got instead was a small religious experience. For all that is holy, it came with a side of marinara--unasked, unprompted, and deeply appreciated. That's not a menu choice. That's wisdom. That's someone in the kitchen saying, "We know how this is supposed to be eaten." The meatballs were tender, sauced properly, and unapologetically old-school. No foam. No reinterpretation. Just food doing its job. Service was excellent--warm, attentive, and human. Not scripted. Not rushed. The kind of service that reminds you restaurants used to be about hospitality, not just turnover metrics. Prices? Fair. Shockingly fair for Hollywood. Another relic from a time before everyone lost their damn minds. My husband and his best friends grew up in Hollywood. This afternoon it was a day going down memory lane. Movie at the Egyptian and dinner at Miceli's. Never been before. Definitely old school Hollywood haunt. Live piano and waiters singing. We ordered before the entertainment started. Unbeknownst to me our waiter was one of the singers. Very wonderful voice. Dinner came, mine Chicken Parmigiana. What a gorgeous plate of food. The chicken was tender, the sauce was flavorful with cheese on top. Was so yummy! We had the most amazing Saturday night at Miceli's in Hollywood. We made a res but not sure if it's always necessary. We had a seat right by the live piano player. Our server Oliver was absolutely incredible and even sang a few songs with the piano. It was such a fun dining experience experience unlike others in LA, took my back to the 90s. Miceli's (both locations), are part of my GOAT series of reviews. While I haven't been for years, it is as classic as could be and offers everything worthwhile: romantic, delicious, and all the classic Italian dishes -- nothing nouveau about it with it's old style red booths, wood carvings, and 6000 wine bottles hanging. The staff takes turns occasionally singing, too. Very cool. My favorite memory: an original waitress from the 1949 opening, loved me. She once barreled down my date, knocking her over, to get to me. We laughed and laughed. My favorite dishes: loved the pizzas, chicken parm, and chicken marsala, for sure, but I often ordered a vegetarian dish made with tons of red onion and mushrooms in a thick tomato sauce (I think it's Spaghetti Siciliano, but not 100% certain). read more

Very disappointed in the service. Our waiter was not very helpful & felt very rushed. We asked for recommendations & he wouldn't or couldn't say. Even something as simple as Lasagna or ravioli, he just said oh, I couldn't say or I don't know. I asked if there were any specials & he said yes, everything on the menu then said he'd be right back. I was excited to take my friends there & it had been about 8 years since i'd last been here. I was embarrassed with his behavior even when I told him they had never been here before. Ordered takeout from here today and it was delicious!!! I always drive by here on Ventura and have been wanting to try. We got the salad (which is something that just reminds you of your childhood) it's classic Italian. Simple and great. Also got arribiata spaghetti and garlic spaghetti. Both were fantastic, the flavor was on point, We got the best rolls of bread, put some butter in and there you go. Last weekend my family and I had the pleasure of eating here once again ( last visit was 13 years prior). We had a great servicer named Robert who also was one of their amazing singers. Service was exceptional and the shrimp scampi was incredible. It's great to know that a vintage place such as this is still around and still doing what they do best. I love Micellis! I've been going to their Studio City location since I was a kid! This was my first time visiting the Hollywood location, it's a bit smaller but is more wheelchair friendly for my grandma. The service was fantastic! My grandma is in a wheelchair and has mild dementia and they were so great to her! The service really made the night. I got the eggplant parm and it was delicious! We all shared a pizza and it was very good! I also love the clam pizza(don't knock it til you try it). I got a Negroni and my grandma got a grasshopper and the drinks were great! I came here with my son chasing the Hollywood History that Miceli's offers and hoping for a little ghost hunting as mentioned in the book Gourmet Ghosts. We didn't find any ghosts, but we did have an excellent time. It was a rainy day and Miceli's had a wonderful cozy ambience. We know this restaurant is one of the oldest Italian restaurants in Hollywood and there are a lot of rumours about who used to eat here. We did find the pig from the original Pig n Whistle restaurant that the owner of Miceli's rescued when the aforementioned restaurant burned down. The service was good. I was not a fan of the chicken picatta (rubbery) and the waiter was gracious enough to bring me an entirely new entree. My son was very happy with his order and my new entree of eggplant parmiagiana was good. I don't think you should come here expecting transcendent Italian food, but you should come here for a decent lunch and especially the atmosphere. I've lived in LA forever and I can't believe the number of places that have come and gone. It is so nice to see a place that has stood the test of time. ​I'm not sure if I can say this was the worst food I've ever had. It just came frustratingly close to being completely disappointing. My wife and I and our group really wanted to like Miceli's Italian in Hollywood. It's such a charming, old school place, and it was so busy that I thought the food would be amazing here. ​The biggest tragedy is that the staff was so nice, and the service itself was very good. The kitchen seriously needs to up their game. ​Our timing was poor. We had a show to attend, and the pace was extremely slow. We waited a full 45 minutes just for our appetizer combo, and it was an hour later when our main food finally arrived. This forced us to rush through the meal, which made the disappointment sting even more. ​The food issues started immediately: the appetizer combo was room temperature at best, and the marinara sauce was completely cold. We couldn't eat it, but our waiter was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Aside from the pizza, the bread, and the house salads, nothing else hit the mark. ​For our main course, my wife and I both had the Chicken Piccanti. This dish was nothing special, and the temperature inconsistency was weird. The chicken was cold and dry, the pasta was warm, and only the veggies were hot. It was clear the components weren't plated together in time. ​All in all, we were very disappointed. Let's start by saying I only give it a 2 star cause the pizzas not bad compared to rest of the food and service. I grew up in Studio City and I've been to Miceli's many times. In all the times that I have been there, the food was always good and the service was excellent as well. I really don't know what happened in the last 15 years since I've been there, but let me tell you, there was three people in the restaurant, they ran out of veal, steak, and other items, and the service was horrible. The live piano music starts at 5:30 p.m. and it is delightful. Three separate servers sang during our dinner and they were all good. The bruschetta was pretty good. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good and you get a huge portion. The entrees (Fettuccine Micelli, chicken parmigiana, ravioli) were edible. That's as kind as I can be. I could say a lot more but I don't like being negative on Yelp. Our server (who was also one of the singers) was terrific. He was friendly and checked in on us often to make sure all was well. I love old restaurants and the decor is cool. When Yelp recently and improperly listed this place as being "permanently closed," I emailed Yelp twice to get that designation taken down (which it was). But no good deed goes unpunished. Let's just say they could and should do a lot better with the food and I hope they do so. I'm giving them four stars because of the singers and decor and history. But I'm being generous. read more

Miceli's is an old school Italian restaurant located just off Hollywood Blvd. and very close to the Dolby Theater, Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Jimmy Kimmel show. I had lunch there last week. Inside it is dark with a lot of interesting decor, Italian themed of course with background music to match. I ordered the Linguini Pescatore for $32 and chose the white broth over the red option. A complimentary warm bread basket arrived shortly after with oil and butter for dinner. Within 15 minutes later the entree arrived in a big bowl. It was a large serving of food with a massive amount of seafood included. Clams, Mussels, Calamari, Scallops, Shrimp and Fish. Seriously, I was impressed and can't remember when I have ordered this dish anywhere that came with this much seafood content. To say that it was filling would be an understatement! It was good tasting too and I would like to try it with the red broth next time. The only negative to the meal was that it was soupy with too much of the broth at the bottom of the bowl. Table service during the meal was very good. The only parking option I observed was metered street parking. I like Miceli's and would be happy to return. read more

I think MICELI'S is phenomenal!! It's not hidden at all!! Las Palmas is a small street off of Hollywood Blvd. MICELI'S has a neon sign so you can't miss it. Everything is wonderful about this restaurant. If you dine in the aroma of delicious food will surround you and make you salivate for their delicious menus items. Ambience is key. Looking for a fun date restaurant? How bout a family dinner? This is the spot. From bottles of wine hanging from the ceiling, to pictures of the Mona Lisa, this is a fun dim lit traditional Italian restaurant. To add, they often have live piano and singer. Now that I got that out of the way...the food is three stars. I mean the pesto pasta is noticeably great, but the pizza is just ok and the fried appetizers are too fried. I will say they have a nice house cabernet and also offer cold peroni, solidifying that Italian vibe. There is plenty of street parking. Everytime I come here I get seated right away, so this makes a great option if you you have been walking up and down hollywood blvd all day and just want to wind down a bit. The pizza was akin to the kind of store-bought French bread pizzas I ate when I was a kid. Or maybe school lunch pizza? It was terrible. Disappointed to be sent back to Miceli's for work after my first bad experience at the Universal location. There, I ordered the waiter's suggestion of Aunt Angie's lasagna, which he claimed would "make me want to come back for more." Instead, it made me want to avoid the place altogether. To be fair, I took it to-go, so maybe it overcooked on my drive home, but it was mushy and completely flavorless, no taste of fresh herbs, no seasoning, not even enough salt. For comparison, Trader Joe's frozen lasagna is better, and Costco's Kirkland Beef & Sausage version blows it out of the water. At the Hollywood location, sadly, it was the same story: bland and low quality. The calamari was dry, chewy, with minimal meat, basically calamari jerky. It had no flavor aside from oily breading and needed marinara (thankfully included with no additional charge) just to add moisture and make it edible. The chicken parmigiana was slightly better, but the chicken was dry and overly salty. Paired with the spaghetti it balanced out a little, though the pasta itself was bland. Pros: friendly workers, metered street parking right outside ($2/hour, 2-hour limit, with plenty of spots midday on weekdays) or a validated lot nearby for a discounted rate, and a traditional interior some might enjoy. Cons: overpriced, bland food (calamari $17.95, chicken parm $28.95, half-slice of apple pie $11.25) and an unpleasant Hollywood setting where people outside often walk by screaming obscenities. Overall: Miceli's is the worst Italian food I've ever had, frozen included. They've been around for decades, but after trying both locations, I wouldn't recommend or return. read more

Son and I came here for lunch today, it had been a while since the last time we went. I love Miceli's Hollywood, I've been going as long as I've been in L.A., which is since 1991! It was nice to come during the day, it's definitely a different vibe, quieter and you get a really great view of the excellent, original interior. It's an historic L.A. establishment and I'm so glad it has survived the test of time. Our server was great, he was very attentive and the food was yummy as I've always known it to be. First time here with friends who remember this being a great restaurant. Well not any More. The food was mediocre at best. The friend whose birthday we were celebrating ordered veal which was breaded in some unidentifiable batter and completely burned. Another friend ordered a sidecar, her usual, which was undrinkable, then another drink Italian 75 or something, also undrinkable. The manager walked by and said "everyone loves our sidecar." The service was very slow. I had to ask for ice for my water 4 times and finally went to the bar myself to get it. We brought a birthday cake and before they served it, which took forever, the manager very rudely (again) came over and said "You do realize there's a $3 per person charge to serve the cake." We could have served and eaten it ourselves between the time it took them to "warn" us about the service fee and finally serve the cake. The piece de la resistance was when we asked about the parking validation. The manager said "It's 2 hours and some of you have been here for at least 3." Since when is lingering in a restaurant something you reprimand a customer for? Believe me, we were ready to go and never would have stayed that long had the service not taken forever. I would never go back. And I think they must scrub their Google reviews because they are mostly positive. But here and Trip Advisor have the truth. Stay away from this place unless you like mediocre overpriced food, nasty tasting drinks, sloth-like service and rude AF managers. This was only my second time at Miceli's, and while the atmosphere is still as charming as I remembered--perfect for families, date nights, or celebrations--our recent visit left us with mixed feelings. The restaurant offers a great variety of dishes, and the food itself was delicious. The pizza was really good, and the portion sizes are generous. My daughter and I were able to split a plate, and everything we ordered had great flavor. The prices are on the higher side, and gratuity is automatically included for parties over six (we had seven--me, my sister, and our five kids). While the vibe of the restaurant is still very much "vibing," the service could use some improvement. Our server forgot simple things like water refills, got our order wrong, and unfortunately came off as inattentive and rude. That alone would have been disappointing, but another incident made it worse: one of the waiters made an inappropriate comment toward my son, who has some personal challenges. Instead of being kind or understanding, he made a sarcastic remark that was both uncalled for and hurtful. I responded, we paid our bill, and we left. Miceli's has a lot of potential, and I truly wish our experience had matched the food and ambiance. Management changes anf Covid changed this place from what it once was. The fact is though you should definately come here for the Old Hollywood vibe this place is. I discovered this place while exiting US 101 at the Lankershim S/B ramp. Their Cahuenga location is the first thing you see. That was several years ago. I ended up trying their original on Las Palmas, only three blocks from Metro first. I have been to both locations numerous times, but more frequently to the original. Good red sauce Italian places are getting harder to find. This place, in particular, is well worth the trek from Ventura! My favorite is their lasagna. Their pizza is also excellent. When i was in high school and into college this was the place i went with friends for my birthday.Now 33 years later i was celebrating my 60th birthday and took my two adult daughters to Micelis to experience old school Hollywood italian food. It was a Saturday night at 8pm when we arrived for our reservation. Right off the bat we were warmly greeted. The restaurant was very busy which was a good sign. The rolls were just as i remember them. We chose the Caesar salad to share as our first dish. We all agreed it was a very good salad. Chopped, crisp and the dressing was garlicky and perfectly dressed. I had the Beef Lasagna which was perfect. My daughters had Spaghetti Siciliano and Chicken Marsala. Again the food was on point. For dessert we chose a Tiramisu. It was light an refreshing after a heavy pasta meal. My kids and I enjoyed it all very much. The service was great too. read more
