Very good Peruvian food, when Planet Chicken in Dunellen is too far of a drive this is a great alternative closer to Bridgewater.

Hidden gem with great food, reasonable prices, and a friendly owner. Yuka fries and rotisserie chicken left the whole family smiling.

The food is incredible and authentic. I've had Peruvian food at multiple NJ restaurants and this is top 5. Highly Recommend!

Delicious! I ordered chicharrones de pollo and bistec al la poble. The green sauce is also very good.

The menu is a fantastic blend of authentic Peruvian flavors with distinct Japanese and Chinese influences that make this cuisine so unique. The atmosphere is modest, warm, and incredibly welcoming, and our server was absolutely terrific. I had the Bistec a la Pobre ($22) -- a perfectly-marinated hanger steak served over generous portions of french fries, white rice topped with a freshly fried egg, and a side of grilled sweet plantains. YUM! The flavors were absolutely spot on. My dining companion loved her Pollo Saltado ($19) -- a generous portion of tender, boneless marinated chicken sauteed with onion, peppers, and tomato served over french fries with a side of white rice. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Peru Chikann is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Bring cash. Peru Chikann has added a surcharge for using credit cards to pay for your meal.

Norkys has been one of our family's go-to spots for Peruvian food over the years, and we've tried…read moremultiple locations. Out of all of them, this location has honestly been the one we've enjoyed the most and the one we keep coming back to. That said, over the past year or two, I do feel the food quality has declined a bit. I recently ordered the lomo saltado (the lower-priced option), and while the meat was flavorful and savory, there was a little too much broth, which made the fries and rice soggy. My husband ordered the tacu tacu with steak, but it felt like there were barely any beans in it. For the kids, we ordered salchipapa. They enjoyed it, but I was expecting the hot dogs to have a little more crisp instead of being soft. What keeps us coming back is the experience here. The restaurant is always clean, organized, and has a really nice ambiance. The staff is attentive, service is quick, and we rarely have to wait or follow up on anything. Their ají verde is still really good too. Overall, I'd say 3.5 stars for the food, but 4 stars for service, ambiance, and overall experience. I really hope the food quality improves because this location has been one of our favorites.

Positives: gazpacho was so fresh, Fritos app was good. Taku taku was delicious. However this is the third time I've gone and something is pretty off - previously just some very fishy ceviche (but also have had great ceviche there too! my sister loves it every time). The mole had an overwhelming clove taste added, the nachos were just okay, and unfortunately the guacalote was inedible to us and $17. I am not sure if they usually use fresh corn, and ran out, but the corn was clearly from a can with an overwhelmingly canned taste and the guac was very tart/ sour. When asked, the servers were very nice, and assured us it was fresh corn. Being from Jersey access to some of the best corn, I can whole heartedly say this was not the case for our dish. This is a great menu option! and I hope they take the feedback to ensure it is fresh every time, or be transparent if they are out of corn/what they are using. I know many people do not care at all, and it's become typical for restaurants to used canned corn. This dish was also an appetizer and came out very late, I wish they had just removed it from our bill after the long wait/ all 3 of us agreeing the flavor was very off. Huge contrast from the soup special which tasted super fresh and we could definitely taste the difference in quality! Again, servers were very pleasant and absolutely doing their best.

Cleanliness: I have been there twice and both times I've watched as the waitresses clean the tables and chairs thoroughly, followed by a quick sweep under the tables before each new guest. That gave us peace of mind for sure. Service: The waitresses were very kind. We aren't very familiar with Peruvian food (we always eat the same dishes) and they helped us choose a new "to us" appetizer they felt we would like. Which we ended up liking a lot. They checked in on us during appropriate times and refilled our waters. When we asked for the check it came quickly without us feeling rushed. It was a good experience. Meals: Appetizer: Yuca Huchaina (I totally spelled that wrong..sorry) fried Yuca with cheese sauce. It was delicious. Fried to perfection. We ate it all up embarrassingly fast. Hey, we were hungry lol! Drink: we tried the "Chicha" purple drink. Wow this was amazing. Yes it is purple! It is sweet and has a touch of pineapple in it. We opted to get a pitcher for the three of us. Vida Seafood dish- It came with ceviche, leche de Tigre and fried seafood mix. This dish was a big hit. My parents said they would order it next time. It hit all the things I was craving. I loved that I got the best of both worlds with half fried seafood and half ceviche (fish only). Ceviche and leche de Tigre was super flavorful with spices and lime. I got extra spice and it was perfect. I wanted to drink it right from the small bowl it was that good. My Dad ended up finishing my plate once I got full. He was super jealous of my plate haha! - Ceviche Classico- Also Flavorful and yummy. If you're super hungry this may not fill you up. Hence, why my Dad finished my meal but he loved it! I had this dish during my first visit. It was delicious. - Pescado Saltado...my Mom loved this dish. The fish literally falls apart in your mouth. Every piece was flavorful and drenched in the yummy sauce. It came with rice and French fries and plenty of fish pieces. Overall: I give this place a 5. What matters to us is quality and taste of the food, service and cleanliness. And they deserve 5 stars for Leche De Tigre.

The rice had too much soy sauce and the rice was partially undercooked. The Jalea was on the smaller side this time around and had more calamari than anything else. Usually it's a good mix. My husband ordered grilled fish ( which was a filet ) we had to send it back the fish wasn't cooked all the way through. They took the same fish that my husband had removed a small piece before we realized it wasn't cooked thoroughly and cooked it longer and by the time it came back to the table it was almost half the size. True disappointment this time around
