Al Toque is a small place in a busyish area. It's a Peruvian restaurant and my go to is the chaufa. I ordered online and when I arrived my order was ready. Inside, the place is small with a few seatings but it looked clean. As for the chaufa, it's was delicious. It comes with chicken, steak, and shrimp which blended beautifully together. The aji Verde sauce tasted great. A bit more liquid than the other ones I had just still really good. The rice was nice and tender and cooked well. The food is a bit pricey but they give a hefty amount. The single order I had was enough to feed me twice. Wish they had a chaufa option that was enough for one serving. Wow! Ordered for the first time. Tallerines verde with rotisserie chicken. It's on the menu with steak instead of chicken but I asked nicely and they came through. Nothing short of amazing. The sauce isn't as bland as the other times I have tried it elsewhere. Not spicy hot but it seemed like it had some dill and other mild spices. The rotisserie chicken was the co-star of this disk. Friendly faces and delicious food. We called to order tale out 20 min before closing (we didn't know). We were informed that they were closing in 20 min but if we could make it within that time they would be happy to feed us. We live in the neighborhood so that was no problem. Everything was tasty, fresh and hot (after ordering we did fear that we might get old food but that was not the case). The shrimp chaufa was one of the best as per my husband. Stopped by for a quick lunch a few days ago and had a good experience at Al Toque. It's a small restaurant with about 5 tables inside but loved all the Peruvian decor inside the restaurant. I ordered the half chicken that comes with fries and salad and the chicken was tasty and flavorful. They also have great green sauce and the ladies working there were friendly and got the food out quickly. They have their own parking which is also a plus. Al Toque is the best and may be my favorite restaurant ever. I get their Chaufa Mixto (Chicken & Beef Fried Rice) with extra Aji Verde (Green Hot Sauce) and it is so flavorful and delicious. I also get cancha (corn nut) on the side for extra crunch. The staff are so friendly and the food is always ready on time, if not only a few minutes after. Affordable, great serving sizes, and delicious! We enjoyed the whole rotisserie chicken, pork tomales, and papas and plantains as sides. The chx was juicy and cooked perfectly. The huacatay sauce is a perfect compliment to the chicken. Plantains and papas were abundant and all this was prepared for $25! The only negative thing I could say is that the papas were kind of soggy-but that may have been because they were sitting a little as it was a pick-up order. Bad, rude service. Very disorganized staff. Food is less tasty than all other Peruvian restaurants I have tried in NJ.

I used to get food from here a lot more often when they were delivering via multiple online sites (GrubHub, EatStreet, etc.). This restaurant may be using UberEats but since UberEats doesn't deliver to my area I don't know for sure. The prices may seem a little high, but the portions are very large. If you'd like to try something authentic to Peru try the lomo saltado. The rotisserie chicken isn't too bad either, I get that when I want something not as heavy. Instead of fries I get tostones (a lightly salted fried plantain) when I get chicken. The place is really small, but it doesn't get too crowded during lunch and the parking lot seems like it can hold more cars than this place can hold people. read more

It's a cozy place and friendly. With that said here is my review. 1. The Causa was good for a big portion and it was decent. 2. The Leche de tigre was ok for a big portion, however it could have been better. 3. The Seco was not that good. a. The frejoles looked like it came from a can, it tasted that it came from a can. The white onions that came with it were cut up in perfect square pieces b. The guizo was ok it wasn't that bad c. Now the meat, I've never had fried meat for a Seco. The meat should be soft and tender. 3 pieces of meat and fried. FRIED...who does that. For a peruvian place I was expecting better. Tried out this place and ended up loving it. The servings are huge, the food tastes good, and the price is just right for the portion of food. The staff were also really nice. The arroz con pollo was really good and packed a lot of flavor. The pollen la brasa was really good too. Pretty much a hole in the wall Peruvian spot. Went to eat during my lunch break with a coworker. We didn't have to wait at all. We were able to look at the menu and ask questions. Our server was great. A down side to the location was a lot of items on the menu, they did not have. They did not have anticuchos or papa rellana on the appetizers. Decor lacked something, furniture was old... they need to work on improving their hospitality... not that they were bad... just lacked a welcome. Now for the food...... Excellent!!! There was a language barrier when I called in and ordered for delivery however at the end they got my order right and successfully delivered to me at a timely manner. I ordered the seafood fried rice, and they are not stingy with their seafood- mussels, crab, scallops, shrimp, and a piece of crab all in the rice. So tasty! I ain't no Peruvian, but I know that Lomo Saltado includes tomatoes; not the one I had at Al Toque. But that was not the only problem. It was obvious that it was a left over from at least the day before. It was reheated in the microwave, I am sure. It was dry, and it looked like when you reheat something in the microwave. Also, I could tell they had just made the french fries and dumped the meat on top of them. But that was not all. (More?!) The meat was cheap, and hard to chew. The portion was small. On top of that, the taste was not classic Peruvian -- that world-famous, unique, taste of Peruvian food; it was salty, perhaps because it was sort of dry, I don't know. I had a few bites, paid (they overcharged me, calculating the tax "a ojo,") and -- this is the best part -- left. Before getting there, I had saved the address on my GPS, anticipating that I would be going back to this newly discovered Peruvian restaurant. (Peruvian food is among my favorites.) Hands down, some of the worst food I ever had. I asked for empanadas, and they gave me meat patties...COLD. I paid $9 for cold meat patties I had to heat up myself, and they were awful. I don't understand how a Hispanic resturaunt confuses meat patties with empanadas. Don't order the ceviche- it's AWFUL. And the famous Peruvian green sauce everyone loves?
