I've tried many other restaurants for lomo saltado but I keep coming back to Norky's. Food is always made to order, hot and very fresh. I enjoy the lomo saltado made with plum tomatoes and tons of red onions yum! Staff is efficient and responsive. Parking is sometimes difficult on the busy street. read more

My husband brought us here for dinner and we were seated so warmly by Frank. He recommended the lomo saltado with seafood as well as I believe the cau cau with seafood. Everything was absolutely delicious and the portions were enormous. We could not finish one dish for the two of us. All the food was perfectly seasoned and so fresh. We enjoyed the cozy environment with salsa music playing in the background and families seated and enjoying the ambiance and food. The service was extremely warm and inviting. Definitely not a date place but a place in the neighborhood by the hospital for tasty and plentiful food. The customer's ability to speak Spanish is definitely an asset because our server did not speak English and I had a special request; subbing in additional salad and subbing out the fries. I've only had take out from here multiple times. This place is the best Peruvian I've had in NJ, aside from a place I was taken to in Elizabeth (which I can't recall). I agree with the cashier, didn't matter who it is, she's not usually the friendliest. They don't speak English well, so you have to have the menu handy. Small restaurant, appears clean with less than 10 tables. Get the Lomo Saltado, Cerviche, Jalea mixto, rotisserie chicken, yuca a la huancaina, papa rellena. Last 2 are apps. The Peruvian Aji Verde sauce (green sauce) is awesome! It goes with everything. Tastes really good! Unfortunately the cashier only gives 1 or less per entree ratio. First time ordering Jalea, also the last time. Sauce was great, marinated onions fresh. As for the Jalea, the calamari was in abundance, but as you can see in the photo not much else. Very little fried fish, very little shrimp, very little fried yuca, the calamari required extra chewing. I didn't order it that way, it came with flavorless, hard to chew calamari. If there's options negative or zero I would rate them the worst score. The foods are not great as expected for Peruvian taste. The crews don't speak well in English and the worst thing experience we got because my hubby is Peruvian, the price on the menu is different when they charge u when u pay. All of the menus are totally low price but when they bill you OMG they are thief. My hubby complained and the Manager gave 5$ off but then they will charge u another fees for using your card!!!!! Went to go to Se Salio El Pollo for dinner around 8:30 on a Sunday and they told us they weren't seating us because they close at 9pm (even though their website says they closed at 10pm). We went to went to Norky's because we still wanted Peruvian, but thought it was going to be a downgrade from Se Salio El Pollo. However, we were both wrong. We ordered the choritos and they were better than Se Salio El Pollo. The ceviche we ordered as well was very fresh and tasty. Also, the servers here were MUCH nicer than they are at Se Salio El Pollo, so I don't know why any review has complained about the service because it is much better than any other Peruvian place I have been to (Paterson, Harrison, & Perth Amboy). We don't live anywhere near Perth Amboy, but we wanted to go here out of a curiosity about the name Norky's, which is the same as a chain of criollo restaurants in Lima. I knew it couldn't be the same chain as the Lima restaurants, but I was interested in seeing if they could be at all similar. Norky's in Perth Amboy has more ceviche than Norky's in Lima, which is a good thing depending on how much you like ceviche. The presentation and quality of the food are excellent. The prices are half the price of what they would be at fancy, fake Peruvian restaurants in places like Montclair. Service was attentive (it has to be, it's a small restaurant). Good Peruvian food is abundant in NJ, so I can't give this place 5 stars, but if you are near Perth Amboy I recommend giving Norky's a try. read more

I honestly like the food a lot, but poor customer service. My co-worker told me about this place but said customer service is so-so. I ordered three times from there with a week and the 3rd time, they gave me the wrong Arroz Chaufa. There was a little language barrier but the man who took my order over the phone repeated the order back to me and it was right. I ordered chicken and beef arroz chaufa but mine had that but with seafood. I do not eat seafood. I live in Union so for me to drive back was an inconvenience but was willing to go another day. I called them to tell them it was wrong but they did not understand being they did not speak to much English and I am not fluent in Spanish. I had my mother call for me and she speaks perfect Spanish and they kinda gave her a hard time about it telling her I might have ordered wrong and advice on how I should order but the gentleman repeated it back to me and it was right, so I know I didn't. After about two phone calls and getting switched to four people, they were willing to let me get a replacement but I was so aggravated by then, I didn't even want it. Camarrones de ajillo (garlic shrimp dish) are excellent. This place only takes cash (but has an ATM). Staff didn't speak English very well (which was fine for me but good for people to know) so brush up on your Spanish if needed (or just point to pictures on the menu). This place that I tried for the first time wasn't so bad. The food was HOT which is to be excepted considering the place had just started there dinner hour (5:00). Their portion is another story it was HUGE. I didn't expect that large amount of food to come in a take out order but kudos to them on trying to keep first time customers. There hot sauce is a little bland when you consider that to Peruvians hot sauce is paramount and is part of the table settings on most Peruvian restaurant from here to Lima. To sum it up YES I will try this place again and maybe even sit down with my BFF who might I add is Peruvian and is a harsh critique when it comes to food that's why I drag her along to new places. This place should change its name from Norky's. It's giving the original Peruvian brand a bad name. If anyone thinks this is Peruvian chicken, you are NOT Peruvian. This chicken at best might beat out Boston Market chicken. Chicharron de Calamar was disastrous. I've had this plate in many places including Peru, and it has always been served with at least Tartar Sauce. These non-Peruvian waitresses looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for some tartar sauce. I would not recommend this place at all. read more
