First, I do not give 5 stars casually, they have to be earned. With all due respect to Tupelo, we had pretty low expectations. What a pleasant and welcome surprise to stumble into this gem. You'd never know from the dingy exterior that there's a great Mexican food experience to be had inside! Once in the door, it's bright, colorful and tastefully decorated. Much larger than you'd expect. We tried a good variety of items and were happy with each and every one. The pork tacos (tacos de carnitas) were very tasty and large portions. The chile rellano was so flavorful I didn't care that the pepper was quite tough. The beef taco was simple but yummy. The cheese enchilada was also uncomplicated but it what I was what I was hoping for. One thing that really stands out, different from many Mexican restaurants, each dish has its own sauce. The enchilada's was thick and tomatoey, the Carnitas had spicy HOT tomatillo sauce, the chile relleno had a thin tomato sauce that packed a surprising punch. The guacamole dip was made fresh, had little bits of tomato and red onion mixed in with the chunks and mashed avocado; lots of flavor and a decent amount for the price. Their frozen margarita comes in 2 sizes, 12 and 21 Oz. The larger was only a couple of dollars more than the small and was nicely prepared, had good flavor and a respectable amount of alcohol. We are big fans of Mexican food and very experienced...qualified to know good food when we find it. Tonight, we found it! read more

The food was fairly good. It was cheap! I had a taco and an enchilada and it was only $4! We also had a small queso dip. It came out cold. It was pretty good once heated up. The margaritas were AWFUL! We got top shelf and maybe the tequila was good that they put in it but it was literally tequila and sweet and sour mix. They were so bad. We came into town and did not know where to eat. I yelped the area and found Mi Toro, luckily it was right in front of the Holiday Inn Express. Not fancy at all. The food is very good. Went with a big family and everyone got something different. The enchiladas have a white cheese sauce that is very good. The Fajitas Nachos with both chicken and steak is hard to beat! The Chile Colorado which is beef cooked in a Chile sauce and served over rice with tortillas is equally delicious. The regular sauce for chip dipping is not spicy at all! I asked for a hotter sauce and they made it. Very hot but wonderful. It did make me a little upset that they charged and additional $1.09 for sauce. They should serve it as an option like most Mexican restaurants do. And if you have any interest... the frozen margaritas are great!!! I would eat here again in a minute. read more

Terrible. Zero seasoning in the salsa. Zero seasoning the food. Food was not microwaved and not cooked to order. Margarita tasted like sugary lemonade with a splash of tequila. Cheese sauce was watery. Do yourself a favor and drive 20 minutes west to Tupelo to find something decent. This is definitely a great place to go for Mexican food! Everything I've tried has been very good and the rice is always perfectly seasoned. Also, I've noticed that they make their own crispy tacos, rather than using a pre-made shell. They fry up the tortillas and use those! Best Mexican food around. Stopped in on Sunday and was surprised that the lunch menu prices were good on Sunday too! We ordered fajitas from the lunch menu and they came with all the fixing. The plate was piled high and the chicken was very tasty. Husband had the beef and it was great too. The beans were topped with cheese and were VERY good! We both took home almost half of my serving (remember this was a lunch item) to have for another meal. The chips were served warm and the salsa seemed to be made fresh. This place is wonderful! The guacamole, pico de gallo, and salsa are prepared fresh. We ordered fajitas for two with steak and chicken. It came with the usual rice and beans with lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo. There was way more food than my hubby could eat and it was very affordable! It's the best Mexican food around, definitely better than others close by. The food is always good, comes out fast. The bar is a nice addition and great place to stop in and have a drink. I always get the tacos and they make them like you would expect some mexican street tacos. Very good and the rice and beans are decent portions. The salsa is very tasty and chips are always fresh. we stopped here on the way through town for dinner & it was delicious!! pollo loco is what I ordered & it reminded me of my favorite dish at my all time favorite Mexican restaurant in Branson. chips & salsa were amazing. the only thing that was annoying was the ole miss students that kept yelling the f-word in the restaurant that was full of families. they should have been asked to leave. our waiter was also very soft spoken & it was very difficult to understand him. read more

Hands down the best Mexican food around. All the locations (Corinth, Booneville and Columbus) have the same incredible food. However, the service at this location is very slow. Place is always packed and they seem to be well staffed and staff is nice, just DO NOT go if you're in a hurry. We've been several times and everytime it takes forever to get a seat, place drink order, get somebody to finally take our meal order and then eventually get food at table. Like I said, the food is top notch and can't be touched as far as flavor, temp and everything. Just really need to do something about the wait time. read more
