Can't believe I just made my first visit to Mi Tierrita Restaurant just a few weeks ago. As I scrolled through fellow Yelpers' reviews, I was surprised to read about the hit or miss experiences they've had at this place. My husband grew up a local to town and this was a spot he frequented while still living in the area. I'm thrilled that we came on a 'good' day as everything from the food to service was fantastic. My husband and I came in on a weekday for dinner. To my surprise, they had many customers at the time we came in and maintained a steady flow of take out and dine in patrons while we enjoyed our meal. We were promptly greeted and brought to a seat, then quickly approached by a friendly waitress to take our initial drink orders and answer any initial questions. Her attentiveness to our table and speed with our requests were remarkable. The great service we received elevated the amazing food we ordered. Our order consisted of - Chicken Empanadas - Beef Empanadas - Typical Platter All the food we had was OUTSTANDING and authentic. Empanadas were stuffed with flavorful, tender meat. The Typical Platter was large in quantity and was loaded with all components listed on the menu. Every item on the platter worked perfectly with each other and though everything was tasty, the most memorable were the steak, pork skin (yum!), and sweet plantains (definitely the right thing for this sweet and savory palette of mine). A great sample of what I'm sure is some of their best items. The food was definitely priced correctly to the taste, quality, and quantity. Based on my experience, Mi Tierrita Restaurant made a memorable first impression. Looking forward to future visits to try more from their menu.

Mi Tierrita 3/5 I've had a lot of Colombian cuisine and this was pretty average. Nothing was out of the ordinary and dishes were overall lacking flavor. Service from certain servers were horrible, other servers were much more attentive. Food and service fluctuate too drastically for me to give this restaurant any more than a 3 our of 5. Dishes ordered: Bandeja Campensina (Ground beef, pork skin, egg, corn cake, sweet plantain, avocado, rice and beans) Pechuga De Pollo Empanizada (Breaded chicken breast, french fries, rice and beans) Guisado De Cola y Costilla de Res (Sautéed oxtails and ribs, casava, potato, rice and beans) Arepa Blanca con Queso and chorizo (Corn Cake w/ Shredded Cheese and Sausage) Mondongo Grande (Soup of the day) Bandeja Campensina: 3.5/5 This dish is very fulfilling and will definitely hold your hunger down for a while. Rice lacked flavor and the Chicharon was very hard, a bit over cooked. The sweet plantain is a great change of flavor for the savory based plate. The ground meat was good and complimented the beans well. Just lacked a bit of flavor but overall good dish. Pechuga De Pollo Empanizada: 5/5 Chicken was fried perfectly and the breading had a delicious crunch. The chicken stayed juicy and can never go wrong with some French fries on the side. Guisado De Cola y Costilla de Res: 2.5/5 I do understand the meats in this dish are expensive so that definitely reflected the portion size but I wish I got a heads up. The meat the potato and the Yuka all lacked flavor. Even the orange sauce on the plate could save the lack of flavor. Meats like oxtail usually are soft tender and fall of the bone, here it was a bit rougher than I would have liked and had a lot more fat than meat. Sadly the best part of this dish was the rice and beans on the side. Arepa Blanca con Queso and Chorizo: 4/5 Arepa was cooked to perfection and the cheese was broiled on top and left a nice golden crust. The chorizo was cooked and tasted very fresh. Combining all three flavors created a party in your mouth was really good. Arepa felt like it was a couple days old but still was a very good dish. Mondongo Grande: 5/5 Was a delicious soup and was very tasteful. They were very generous with the meat and was the best dish by far. If I were to come back it's for this soup right here, a Colombian classic and it's absolutely amazing here. The rice and beans are an awesome side with this dish and the flavor was spot on. I will continue my search for the best Colombian food in the Suffolk area but this is a nice place if ur in the mood and ur in the area. I might come for certain dishes but the inconsistency in their service was a good turn off. 3/5 the soup and the chicken is the only reason I might come back.

This place is is horrible. Brentwood is ok but this place is not worth it not even for the food. From the person in charge to the waiters. Everyone seems like they are having the worst day of their lives every day. Very rude, yell and fight with customers and with each other in front of customers. Even over the phone very rude.

My boyfriend first introduced me to this restaurant. This restaurants plates are huge and loaded with delicious food. The plate we get comes with steak, an egg, avocado, rice, beans & chicharrón. Service is quick and nice and it's a family friendly environment

Do not waste your time or money. Empanadas and the rest of the food are horrific. This use to be a good restaurant they have completely let go.

#1 COLOMBIAN SPOT ON THE ISLAND You cannot beat the portions and prices. And don't even get me started on the food, FANTASTIC. I would give 10 stars if I could. I recommend this spot to everyone I know and I get the same reaction every time, delicious. If you don't speak spanish like myself, pretty much every sever is bilingual which is great.

I always say I'm gnna get extra chicharrones to go home with, but I fail; let me tell you, from this point on, I'm getting the perfect order, combo fajitas supreme with the chicken steak and shrimp, and adding chicharones, not only for when I'm there, but an extra to thrown on top of my leftovers! Because believe me, letting that green sauce soak into the rice with the beans, the peppers and onions, letting all that meld together and still having that crunchy, fatty, melt in your mouth pork rinds.... Bruh next level no cap legit fire and all the other words I'm too old to be saying. phew. Why do I always punish myself!? Yelp therapist I need to know! I liked my salad too, I'm not just suckin on fried pork fat for the record. Wait... chicharrones on a side salad sounds amazing... You know I'm a mountain platter man because it's a great deal, but I gotta tell you, the splurge doing it this way is the ultimate, little bit of everything, indulgence we all deserve!! It even comes with fresh half fried queso on top which I didn't even realize until I got home and cracked open the container... I'm ecstatic and stuffed and remember why I keep coming back (besides trying to find a wife)

I had a visitor in from Oklahoma and thought he would enjoy the food. We were a party of 5. I was literally surprised by the quality of the food and really disappointed. We ordered Nachos as a appetizer and when it came it looked empty. No seasoning on the chicken barely any cheese or salsa on them. ( picture included) one person ordered a quesadilla with shrimp. It was very flat and she opened it and the shrimp was squashed into a ball, barely any cheese and she sent it back before I had a chance to take a picture. They took it off the bill. We ordered a medium skirt steak that was supposed to be marinated but it wasn't and looked so unappealing but he ate it anyway. I ordered the tropical plater which is a favorite of mine. The steak was disgusting( picture attached) The only dish that came out ok was the steak fajitas. We also had 4 cocktails. Our waitress was really nice and did her best. I truly hope this is a fluke but felt the owner of this business should be aware. I never minded the cost of the food because you knew the food would be delicious. This time we paid $178.35 for a horrible experience at Gallo's in Patchogue, NY

Our Spanish speaking friend who ate there often brought us here and we had a FEAST! We each ordered on our own (pick 2-3 things) on top of rice (white rice, rice with beans, or yellow Spanish rice) and we each paid at the counter before sitting. Our friend then ordered additional food to share... all sorts of dishes we've never tried before. It was a heavenly experience, we left SO FULL! The second time we came here for a quick lunch before hopping on the Sunday 2:30pm LIRR back to the city. There was a line since there was only one lady scooping up your choices. The lady isn't quite friendly, but she's not mean either... just efficient so don't expect warm smiles or anything when you ask her questions (my poor vegetarian friend got a icy stare/no response when she asked about the salad). She shrugged and said "no" when I asked if they had any vegetables (lol?). I ordered the chicken (in red/orange sauce) and the fantastic grilled steak (a good sized piece) on top of yellow rice ($12). The hot sauce with their steak is INCREDIBLE. I think the salad comes with your container... so ask for salad before you get to the register. The guy at the register was really nice when I asked about their in-house green hot sauce and he gave me two extra small containers. All in all, the food here speaks for itself! EAT HERE! The booths cleared out quickly so we were able to dine in both times. Relatively clean space. Note: my friend got charged more for the same meal when she went with her mom (not Spanish) than when she went with her Spanish speaking friend. So maybe non-locals like myself get charged more? *shrug* steak was worth it!

The salsa had good flavor. To drink I had a blueberry margarita and my fiancé had a watermelon margarita. Both were great and not overly sweet. For an appetizer we shared the chori- fondue. The menu stated it was served with a side of tortillas, which we didn't get. Not a big deal..we dipped the chips into the fondue instead. For my entree I had the Baja shrimp tacos. They started off with good flavor but then in my first taco one shrimp still had the shell on it. I know that sometimes the shell is left on for flavor purposes, but not in tacos that one is bitting into. I then saw the shell was on another shrimp in my third taco. This was definitely a poor oversight and poor attention to detail as it wasn't on every shrimp. Eater beware. My fiancé had arroz con pollo which he enjoyed. The serving was quite large and he has atleast another two meals for later. Service was alright, but our server never came back to check on us. Overall, I'd say it was just okay and average.
