The chicken tacos are legit!
Jessica O.

El Nopal has ridiculous good authentic Salvadorean food. Great portions, great prices. My favorite are the chicken tacos which are cooked right when you order. I have also tried various items from the steam table and all are delicious. Don't forget to get some horchata to wash your food down!

Lately I've been on a taqueria kick. Ever since discovering the best taqueria food in Houston, TX, I've been trying to recreate my experience here on Long Island. Thanks to Yelp, I found El Nopal a few months ago and decided to try it. (I was actually sitting in the Colombian restaurant across the lot, Mi Tierrita, when I looked over and saw El Nopal and knew THAT's where I needed to be). The small place is usually packed with diners which is a good sign. The service is fast and friendly and the food hits the spot. Three tacos cost $6 and pupusas are $1.50. I've been back many times since I first found this place and will continue to come back.

I didn't care for the tamales (a bit soft) but the steak tacos were so good i need to give them 5 stars.

I honestly love gallo. I'm just not sure that I love myself…read morevery much.... You might think that sounds dark n deep, and maybe sure but... I always seem to punish myself. I always say I'm gnna get extra chicharrones to go home with, but I fail; let me tell you, from this point on, I'm getting the perfect order, combo fajitas supreme with the chicken steak and shrimp, and adding chicharones, not only for when I'm there, but an extra to thrown on top of my leftovers! Because believe me, letting that green sauce soak into the rice with the beans, the peppers and onions, letting all that meld together and still having that crunchy, fatty, melt in your mouth pork rinds.... Bruh next level no cap legit fire and all the other words I'm too old to be saying. phew. Why do I always punish myself!? Yelp therapist I need to know! I liked my salad too, I'm not just suckin on fried pork fat for the record. Wait... chicharrones on a side salad sounds amazing... You know I'm a mountain platter man because it's a great deal, but I gotta tell you, the splurge doing it this way is the ultimate, little bit of everything, indulgence we all deserve!! It even comes with fresh half fried queso on top which I didn't even realize until I got home and cracked open the container... I'm ecstatic and stuffed and remember why I keep coming back (besides trying to find a wife)

I have been going to Gallo for many years and have never been disappointed until I went on March…read more16, 2026. Most of the food was a disgrace. I had a visitor in from Oklahoma and thought he would enjoy the food. We were a party of 5. I was literally surprised by the quality of the food and really disappointed. We ordered Nachos as a appetizer and when it came it looked empty. No seasoning on the chicken barely any cheese or salsa on them. ( picture included) one person ordered a quesadilla with shrimp. It was very flat and she opened it and the shrimp was squashed into a ball, barely any cheese and she sent it back before I had a chance to take a picture. They took it off the bill. We ordered a medium skirt steak that was supposed to be marinated but it wasn't and looked so unappealing but he ate it anyway. I ordered the tropical plater which is a favorite of mine. The steak was disgusting( picture attached) The only dish that came out ok was the steak fajitas. We also had 4 cocktails. Our waitress was really nice and did her best. I truly hope this is a fluke but felt the owner of this business should be aware. I never minded the cost of the food because you knew the food would be delicious. This time we paid $178.35 for a horrible experience at Gallo's in Patchogue, NY

Amazing! Came here for my mom's birthday. We arrived at 7pm and parked in the parking lot next to…read morethe library in the back. There were signs saying there was metered parking. But the metered parking machine wasn't working. A local told us we didn't have to pay. We walked inside and was greeted by a friendly server. The table was already set for us, and she brought out menus for us. They gave us water in plastic cups. (I think this restaurant is mostly popular for its take out service more than its dine in service. While there was only 3 other tables seated besides us, their counter was overflowing with takeout orders. We ordered the Pollo a La Brasa, choritos a la chalaca, choclo con queso fresco, chicha morado, frijoles, and arroz amarillo. They took our order and gave us puffed corn, and some kind of cream salsa verde sauce for the table. The chicha morado was good, sweet and slightly spiced from the cinnamon it was refreshing, light and sweet. First came the mussels, they were topped with a salsa, lime juice and corn. They were overcooked and dry. I don't think people normally order the mussels, so I don't think the chef knew how to prepare it properly. Then came the rice and the roast chicken. The yellow rice was so flavorful, fluffy, and good. The roast chicken was amazing. Very flavorful, and the meat fell right off the bones. Then came the beans, and corn appetizer. The corn appetizer was kind of weird. It was just slightly warm corn with small logs of cheese on the side. I was expecting like a roasted corn with fresh cheese crumbled on top with spices. There was very enthusiastic Latino music playing from the TV the whole time. The whole place felt fun and inviting. It was pretty casual, and the waitresses were friendly and kind. They were decorated for Halloween with decorations, and orange lights lighting up the walls. I think next time we'll just stick to the chicken, beans, and rice. They were very nice in letting us being our own birthday cake as well. They gave us small plates, and forks and knives. They gave us plastic utensils. I guess they didn't have small dessert forks. Overall wonderful experience. Just don't order something atypical I guess.
