Eraser sized pebble in my burrito that I just chomped down on
    Lauren R.

Need to bid JV Tequila adieu and I took my review down from 4 stars to 3 because I do believe the food is good and I'm hoping this was a one-off problem. Went in 2 days ago for a chicken burrito, they're so big they last me 3 days. I just cut off a small section to eat for dinner and chomped down on a pebble the size of a pencil eraser, thought I cracked a molar but seems to be ok. Still hurts like heck but it's still there. I'll have it checked out anyway, but how does a pebble that size get into a burrito? Did they drop the burrito on the floor when they made it? Or maybe it was a pebble from the beans, I know you have to go through dry beans to check for stones. Maybe this one made it through QC. It was scary enough to make me not want to go back and eat mush for the time being.

This place really is hit or miss. Today I got a burrito with spoiled pork and a greassy Pupusa. The smell of the burrito was so horrible, there is no way the person preparing it could have missed it.

I tried this place out because my dad goes here when he wants spanish food so I figure I would give it a try because I'm looking for a good place I can keep going back to and this will be one of the two places. I got a small dish with yellow rice and brown beans with pepper steak. It didn't have any bad tastes to it or anything that grossed me out but it could potentially have a little more flavor to it but besides lacking the flavor I wanted it wasn't bad at all. The staff seemed like normal people not extremely nice but not mean. My favorite go to place!!

The only issue I have w this place that it's overpriced ! Minimum your paying 10$ for a plate of rice and beans w some type of meat. God forbid you get something extra , you're paying 15$-20 easily. Overall the quality is great ....

One of the best places for Spanish food ever. Small, family owned, delicious food. Large portions for low price. You won't find a better deal for food this good. This place started as a small, very small and cramped seating area. Now they have purchased the store next to them and expanded. This goes to show you that with a great product, wonderful service, and determination growth will happen.

Wow! All I can say is food is authentic to taste and fresh. Owner is there so he is proud of his food and establishment. Clean!! Clean!! Clean!! Unlike many other places, you walk in and you will not be afraid to sit down to eat. Cuban sandwich is amazing as well as the empenada !! Portions are huge! Come with an appetite!

I have been here several times now and this place has been consistently outstanding! It's reasonably priced, huge portions, and amazing food! This little bodega-type store front is is a Latin cuisine heaven. Everything is as close to homemade as you can get it, and no matter what you're in the mood for, they've got you covered. You can order off their mind-blowing menu, or ask for that something specific you want; they've got it, or they'll make it for you. The owner and the rest of the staff, are always very pleasant and super patient with me, the "white guy," asking all sorts of questions, and ordering everything in sight. If you haven't gone here yet... go. Get cultured. This place is the real deal.

***Delicious/Cheap Latin American food*** Believe the Yelp hype. I've been a couple times, ordered a ton of food, and somehow managed to carry it all back. Be prepared to share. Here are some thoughts on what I have tried: -Cubano: Gotten this multiple times and I'm comfortable saying it's the best I've ever had. Pork is succulent, bread is deliciously warm, crisp and buttered beyond belief but not with a bit to waste. Eating one of these in one sitting is a feat few can accomplish. Not a problem if you're going solo though, as this bad boy is just as good warmed up. The only problem is one sandwich will leave you feeling self-conscious from providing so many high cholesterol meals. Every calorie is seriously worth it though. -Mofongo: Absolutely great. Pork, the less sweet type of plantains, and probably a few other things, all blended together. While that may sound odd, this was great, and the portion is huge. It would be tough to eat completely in one sitting since the pork is filling but is perfect to share and/or warm up repeatedly (although it dries out a little its still delicious out of the microwave). -Pan Relleno de Pollo: Enormous. This seems to be a theme. See attached picture. Seriously this is less a sandwich and more a giant mass of food. Despite its name, don't kid yourself that you will be able to eat this with your hands. Utensils are mandatory. Again, this will probably be more than most can finish in one setting. -Empanadas: At one buck a pop these provide some serious delicious value. Pretty greasy but they are infinitely better than anything you can get on the dollar menu at Taco Bell. -Pupusas: I've been to a variety of places in Long Island/Brentwood and I think I've had better, although these were very good. I preferred their revuelta to queso. -Platanos: delish Takes credit cards? Check. Can phone in orders? Check. Friendly service? Check. Menu with some items that rotate every day of the week? Check. ***Note: although their website doesn't seem to be currently working, you can go to their facebook page and view the menu/pricing on the photos there. FINAL VERDICT: Order a cubano, a couple empanadas, and something you've never heard of before. You will not be disappointed. Just make sure there is plenty of space in the fridge.

My wife and I arrived early on a Tuesday evening and reservations were not necessary. Upon entering, we were promptly seated. Shortly thereafter, a basket of corn tortilla chips arrived with a mild dipping sauce. I cannot attest to the dip, however, the chips were warm, lightly salted, and crispy. For an appetizer we ordered fried calamari. As an entree, I chose the Don Quijote Mixed Grill. This consists in marinated grilled skirt steak, pork loin, chicken breast, Latin sausage, tostones, white rice, and pinto beans. I substituted additional white rice for the pinto beans. The calamari arrived hot and they were delicious. Definitely to be shared by two. My entree arrived sizzling on a flat iron grill. Everything was delicious. I enjoy a hearty meal, but I could not finish the abundance of excellent food on my plate. Of course I grew a desert appetite so I ordered the fudge chocolate cake and a decaffeinated cappuccino. Both the cake and the cappuccino were excellent. My only negative comment was that I received a fatty cut of pork. Notwithstanding this, I would still give the restaurant six stars if I could. This is how good the food was. Takeaways 1. Reservations not needed mid-week. 2. Abundant parking. 3. Excellent service. 4. Fantastic food. 5. Great service. 6. Superb portion to price. Note: it would be possible to order the dish I had and easily split it between two people.

I asked my spouse. Ordered chile rellenos, the three taco meal, and had a pork belly appetizer that we shared between us. Took most of it home, and I have to say, I love Mexican/Latin food, but this was the blandest selection of food I have had since trying a can of Amy's vegetarian Tom Kha soup. Amy sucks every last bit of flavor, joy and life from Thai cuisine, and while the food at Don Quixote wasn't depressing, it lacked what I expect from Latin food: A little spice, some savor, cultural pride maybe. I guess that's why we hadn't been back. But, if you look at reviews, most others seem to like it pretty well, so you'll have to decide for yourself. I may have been there too early, just as the kitchen was warming up, or maybe just an "off" day. Your experience may vary.

We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not.
