Amazing! Came here for my mom's birthday. We arrived at 7pm and parked in the parking lot next to the library in the back. There were signs saying there was metered parking. But the metered parking machine wasn't working. A local told us we didn't have to pay. We walked inside and was greeted by a friendly server. The table was already set for us, and she brought out menus for us. They gave us water in plastic cups. (I think this restaurant is mostly popular for its take out service more than its dine in service. While there was only 3 other tables seated besides us, their counter was overflowing with takeout orders. We ordered the Pollo a La Brasa, choritos a la chalaca, choclo con queso fresco, chicha morado, frijoles, and arroz amarillo. They took our order and gave us puffed corn, and some kind of cream salsa verde sauce for the table. The chicha morado was good, sweet and slightly spiced from the cinnamon it was refreshing, light and sweet. First came the mussels, they were topped with a salsa, lime juice and corn. They were overcooked and dry. I don't think people normally order the mussels, so I don't think the chef knew how to prepare it properly. Then came the rice and the roast chicken. The yellow rice was so flavorful, fluffy, and good. The roast chicken was amazing. Very flavorful, and the meat fell right off the bones. Then came the beans, and corn appetizer. The corn appetizer was kind of weird. It was just slightly warm corn with small logs of cheese on the side. I was expecting like a roasted corn with fresh cheese crumbled on top with spices. There was very enthusiastic Latino music playing from the TV the whole time. The whole place felt fun and inviting. It was pretty casual, and the waitresses were friendly and kind. They were decorated for Halloween with decorations, and orange lights lighting up the walls. I think next time we'll just stick to the chicken, beans, and rice. They were very nice in letting us being our own birthday cake as well. They gave us small plates, and forks and knives. They gave us plastic utensils. I guess they didn't have small dessert forks. Overall wonderful experience. Just don't order something atypical I guess. read more

I've eaten that dish restaurant numerous times before just the first time I've sat down inside and ordered food with my family.. waitress rude and condescending. Felt it like we were rushed out of there. On 8/7/24, I headed to this restaurant for lunch. It had been raining and I slipped and fell outside the restaurant. Two elderly patrons came out to help me. One female employee held open the door as I was escorted inside. I told her it was very slippery and they should do something to prevent any other accidents. She was across the room and I couldn't hear her response. Another female employee came out and said they were ask if I was there for eat in or take out! I explained that I had just slipped and fallen and they should have it taken care of. Her response to me was a wave of her hand towards the front door and across the restaurant. She said that has nothing to do with us, we are from the door in. She then repeated her question, "Eat in or take out"! I let her know I had planned on eating in, but would not this time or ever again due the total disregard for a person's welfare. I left dazed and hurting. My elbow was bleeding and I have a swollen, black and blue toe. I am hoping it isn't broken. If anyone knows who I can contact about this, I would appreciate it. Nice and relaxing decor. Nice family place. Rotisserie chicken was delicious, you can order 1/4, 1/2 or whole chicken dinners. The Peruvian rice with chicken, excellent. The place is small and easy to miss, but the food is very good. We usually pop in for a quick takeout. Usually chicken and rice, or the Peruvian chicken fried rice which is my favorite. Make sure you get the sauce on the side! Prices are very good, at most entrees around $10-$15. Service is quick, with most waiting around 5-10 minutes or less. Language can be an issue. When I order "chicken fried rice" i get a confused look, but I follow with "arroz chaufa pollo" there are no issues. I've also pulled out the menu to point. I wouldn't let a small language barrier get in the way, as the food is quite good. Dining in is quite boring and lacking, as the kid that works there seems like he'd rather be elsewhere... read more

Cozy small Peruvian restaurant on main st. That green chicken sauce to die for. Place is very clean and service is great. Food is always consistent. Been here several times and I have never had a problem wait staff is always accommodating. Rotisserie chicken is great I love the French fries. They also have a dish called salchipapas which is basically cut up hot dogs with French fries with mayo and ketchup drizzled on top. Delish!! We go here as part of our regular rotation of local places, and for good reason. The food is pretty great, the prices are decent, and it's pretty authentic. They're called Chicken Place, so obviously chicken is their strong suit. Most if not all of the dishes include rotisserie chicken of some sort which are roasted right at the front counter so you know they're fresh. The seasoning is really actually very tasty, compared to most other places which skimp on flavor for their rotisserie. Main recommendation is the Peruvian fried rice, or arroza chaufa. Looks like your average ho-hum fried rice from an Asian place, but 10x better. It's lighter, tastes fresher, and you get an absurdly generous portion for only like $12 bucks. We ordered a single serving last time, shared it between the two of us, and still had leftover. It's incredible! If you dine in, they give you a bowl of corn nuts to eat while waiting. Never had 'em before, but they're yummy. Taste like a cross between popcorn and corn chips. The salsa verde ("green stuff" to old white people) that comes with every order is unmatched and tastes amazing on everything. There is a miniscule bit of a language barrier, but they do usually keep at least one person on staff who speaks English. Even so, is it really gonna kill you to pronounce one of the dishes in the language it derives from? Never had any problems with pricing or charges. The only real negative that sets this place down to 4 stars rather than 5 is that we recommend taking out over dining in. Service is a little on the slower side, but more importantly they don't give you tap water, but rather charge for water bottles. Not a dealbreaker since it's better to just take out anyway, but still. read more

Tired of the offerings near my house, we took a half hour ride to find something that would make our tastebuds party. This wasn't the place. We got the Chicken Combo which was a whole chicken, fries and salad to go. Although the menu said $17 we were charged $18.50 No biggie. The chicken was cut up into pieces. It was a little dry but had a decent flavor. LOTS of cumin. It was the dominant flavor. The spicy green sauce that comes with it saved it. But it was a little too spicy for my taste. The fries were just fries. Salad was very good size - standard lettuce, tomato and cucumber with sliced avocado on top. A strange white dressing came with it that I didn't care for. All in all, while it was a little different, I can't say I would go running back. Everyone in my family felt the same way. read more

In a nutshell, Chicken Place has good food at low prices. The chicken is tender, the seafood is tasty and the portions are large. I was pleased with my meal until the service slowed down to a crawl. I might have ordered the wrong thing. I ordered a seafood dish that had calamari and shrimp, a few slices of red onion, a few white beans and one thin slice of cold sweet potato. Avoid if you can. First off, the service at this Patchogue Peruvian joint is slower than the security line at JFK airport on a holiday weekend. Waited 45 minutes for our dinner to come and they messed my order up! Second, the food was not worth the wait. Roasted chicken, though moist, was devoid of any flavor. The chicken and Peruvian "fried rice" tasted like a Lean Cuisine box, ultra salty. I was shocked I made it home without suffering a stroke from the massive sodium bomb. At least it's super cheap. Don't let the size of the place fool you. The food is wonderful! We went with another couple in search of Peruvian food as good as we had in Miami. It blew away the place in South Beach. It was so good we went back two nights later to sample other items on the menu. The fish dishes were all excellent, fresh and flavorful. The chicken is to die for and don't miss the beans and rice. The staff is friendly and helpful, making suggestions and explaining the dishes and traditions. Remember to save room for the traditional deserts too!
