I politely asked if she could help me when she had a chance, and instead of acknowledging me or explaining that she would be with me shortly, she put her finger up and shushed me. I found that extremely rude and unnecessary. I understand that businesses can get busy and that employees may have to answer the phone or handle other tasks, but customers who are standing right in front of you should at least be acknowledged and treated respectfully. In my experience, the customer in front of you should be assisted before moving on to a phone call when possible. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I was simply trying to make a purchase. Unfortunately, the way I was treated made me feel unwelcome, and it left a very bad impression of the business.
