My favorite Mexican place in the area - great menu with much to offer. Although I used to order the lengua tacos and was disappointed to see them go from the menu, there are plenty of great options. The other day I had the grilled chicken breast in a mole sauce served with rice and beans. Perfect juicy chicken, rich sauce, and great texture on the rice and beans. We came for a late lunch after riding the holiday train nearby. The food is top notch and everything... EVERYTHING is made from scratch in house. We requested a spicy salsa and thei made a batch specifically for us and you could tell it was made right then. The corn tortillas were hand made and the chimichangas were delicious. The past few times I have gone the food has been good but the service mediocre and very noisy. They have music blaring at the same time a large tv is playing. For me it is too much sensory overload. The waitress staff is hit or miss. My boyfriend asked for a second Coca Cola which never came. I asked for chicken on my burrito, when my burrito came...no chicken. I told the waitress no big deal not to worry about it but she never took the added chicken off the check. I didn't make a fuss just paid and left but I think I'm kind of over this restaurant. So we started going to Mi Sabor over the pandemic, looking for an establishment to serve take-out breakfast. We found it, and now over one year, we are returning about once a week for breakfast and fabulous lunches and dinner. So hold on; you mentioned breakfast? Yes! Eggs with vegetables are our favorite, served with the most amazing black beans, rice, cheese, and green sauce; yum, it is so good. For dinner, it's a smothered burrito with green sauce as well. The most professional staff will treat you right; eat in or take out, they do it to your liking. Great vegetarian selections, or ask if you want something added to your preference. Remember to stop at Lone Eagle for a four-pack to go with your dinner. Or, get take out and head to Lone Eagle for a couple of exceptional brews. This may be the best value you can get for Mexican food in the area. The place is small and basic, but what do you expect for the low prices they ask. The chips n salsa come free and are great. The best thick chips we've had and the salsa is tasty with a bit of heat. It is not the watery version older reviewers have mentioned. We had the plantains, the steak, and the flautas. This is a hidden gem in Flemington. The food is so fresh and authentic. You can literally feel the love put into it. The staff is super friendly. I've been here twice and tried two different soups: a beef and a chicken. These were absolutely fresh and full of flavor. They also have soppes which consist of homemade tortillas. The green salsa is addicting! I asked them to make my taco order with just vegetables and they did even though it's not on the menu. It should be though because it was amazing! They gave me zucchini and asparagus in my tacos; unexpected but delish! You can't beat the prices and the service was great. Just came for dinner tonight, wanted to try based on all the positive reviews. First off, this isn't fine dining -- it's an uber-casual little place with a very limited menu. Very informal. Nothing wrong with that, just know it so you can base going on the kind of experience you want. Two waitresses were always smiling and attentive, so huge kudos to them. The reason for my 3 stars is that I think the food, while good, could be a bit more flavorful. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. Food seems fresh, I agree with other reviewers. But let's start with the chips. They were good, not great. The basket wasn't that full when we got them, and the chips on the bottom had slight hints of staleness. But they were ok. I would have preferred a red salsa, as the green one they give is very thin and hard to actually put on the chips. We ordered the sweet plantain, only 3 bucks -- was awesome. Comes with black beans and sour cream on top, it is really good. My fiance ordered the enchiladas and I had steak gorditas. Hers was decent. Again, nothing amazing, but definitely good. Can't really complain, just didn't have a wow. My steak gorditas were ok, good I guess, but I thought to myself afterwards that if I was eating them as a blind taste test I don't think I could identify what was in them. That is, there wasn't much flavor, and the steak was small and hard to identify. Also the waitress asked me about beans in them, which I said yes to, but I couldn't quite tell if there were beans in them. Don't get me wrong, again, everything seemed very fresh, and I ate it all. Would I come again? Yes I would. I do wish the menu had a bit more to offer though - no burritos. Very few other options (see the pictures someone posted - that's the entire menu). That can be good I guess, but there wasn't much else on the menu I was really feeling tonight. Probably the best part is the value. Each entree we had was only 10 bucks. Plantain was 3 bucks. Whole meal with $23 plus tax/tip. Was definitely a bargain. Perhaps it deserves 4 stars figuring in that. If you're in the area and feeling Mexican, definitely check it out. It's worth it. Is it the best mexican food I've ever had? No. Is it worth going and having a good and filling meal for a very reasonable cost? Absolutely. read more

When your homemade tortilla chips come out with steam rising from them as they were just fried you know you are in for a good night. We have been there twice so far and each time the food was great. On our first trip it was just my wife and myself. The only issue we had with the place was we were so full from the steak nachos (yes real steak that melted in your mouth as you ate it) we had to take half of our dinners home. The second trip included one of my daughters and it was a Saturday lunch. We had to have the nachos again but this time I thought I would be smart and only order the chicken soup special, the bowl was huge and the side of chopped cilantro and onions along with lime slices really put it over the top. The staff is great and each time we have visited the owner has come out from the kitchen to be sure everyone's food is to their liking. Great service, great food and more than reasonable prices.
