Quote came in from their office at 8 hours. Total disconnect. I spoke to the owner who said their employee under quotes, why send him??? and then quote on the high side and cover for all eventualities? Again why send an experienced professional, quote figures then follow through with an estimate with "well we only charge you what it ends up". So what is it, the professional mover or the office prices?? This is so unprofessional.

I used Greater Austin Moving for my last move; the third move I have made in Austin over 18 years…read more Greater Austin Moving was by far the most expensive service provider I have ever used, but we understood they would be providing a premium service. That is not the experience we had. We sustained more damage than we have experienced before while the work cost 5x more than we have ever paid. The proprietor reduced our $20k+ bill (for a 2628 sq ft house where we did the unpacking ourselves) by only $300 as compensation. As well, the service provider used inconsistent levels of packaging; in some cases, highly durable items were wrapped excessively, while in other cases fragile items were wrapped sparingly. This approach resulted in extra work for us, and (predictably) unacceptable levels of damage to our belongings. I would highly recommend against using this provider.

I booked them through their online site (20% discount wooo) and spoke with April for the most part. She was courteous and friendly and helped us through this transition. The crew (Chris and 1 other gentlemen) arrived within the scheduled window and were finished loading my stuff within an hour. Everything was strapped down correctly and the inventory sheet was amended to add some items I left out on the online questionnaire. Unloading the stuff was just as fast despite heavy rain and only a couple of our items got wet enough to need be dried in the dryer. Definitely a fair price and would use them again in a heartbeat. I just wanted my dresser fixed. Nathan offered the refund after the multiple disasters that happened during and after the move. Although he's offered a refund plenty of times, when I accept the offer he told me he will only do it if I take down review, as I "don't deserve one" because the "Better Business Bureau is breathing down his neck". The repair guy also never told me my dresser needed multiple parts--he kept canceling appointments to repair which I can only assume that he never intended on fixing it. Andy really made the process seamless. He has been in constant contact and provided value and guarantee to the move. They worked with me on the pricing and we ultimately locked this move in with them. Their crews were prompt as promised and let me know the progress updates as I had moved prior to them responding to my Texas house to pack up our belongings. We had minimal damage to our belongings and have been in full communication with them to mitigate our concerns. (It was a small bathroom dresser that was not in the best condition prior to them even touching it - was able to fix it and they do bring tools with them in case of this scenario.) What is fantastic is that they are a LOCAL company for the Austin area that goes all across the country. You won't be dealing with a moving broker or a van line that will only give you estimates. They give you prices up front. It's been a pleasure working with them and we will consider them again for any cross country moves.

They sent Terrick and Xavier out to do the move and in two hours they loaded everything we really needed on the first move (all the heavy wood furniture), plus a bunch more we didn't think would fit, then a bunch more just to help clear out the house. It was 94° outside here in Georgetown, and had a 'RealFeel' of 104°... man, those guys worked their butts off in that heat. They did a fast job, a very good job and were friendly as could be. If he hates people so much why is he in a service industry? I stupidly suggested ogreman movers to my parents when we were looking to relocate the contents of our family home. Our credit card was "accidentally" charged twice. Dave has been absolutely abhorrent in the handling of the situation, especially after the bank (rightfully) reversed the extra charge. He has been completely unprofessional; extremely hateful and has continued to call my dad repeatedly to threaten and berate him. Like actual name calling and threats bordering on elder abuse. Dave is totally unhinged. Claiming we never paid him...reading other reviews it seems to be his go to scam....His treatment towards paying customers and humans in general is absolutely frightening. He is participating in actual extortion. Stay away from this scam artist.
