It looks small from outside, but it's wonderfully spacious - good for large groups. i asked the manager what she recommended and was soon served Mi Hai San - Seafood Noodle Soup. The seafood portions are generous, the noodles uniquely thin with a nice chewiness to them, garnished with onions, lettuce, and bean sprouts, with sides of hot chili oil and peppers if you want to spice it up! They are so welcoming and kind. I frequent the other location so it was my first time here. I can tell a lot of locals come in and order as soon as they are being seated. I ordered the hieu thieu vit tim kho which is the small rice noodles with braised duck dry with soup on the side. Food was tasty but I feel like the portion was on the smaller side compared to other restaurant or places. Food came out very quickly and the server was attentive and came to check on us which was nice. We didn't feel rushed as the restaurant did get busy. It's noisy with loud music blasting from inside a salon and loud chattering of vendors trying to get the attention of onlookers. I walked into the restaurant with fond memories of the Mi La Cay located on Goldenwest. Unfortunately, that restaurant closed down and this one doesn't serve fried noodles. A pileup of issues sank this spot. Mi La Cay is a pretty old-school restaurant in a pretty old-looking plaza in Westminster. This location in theory has easier parking than the other one nearby in Garden Grove, so we settled on it even though the Yelp rating is lower. Perhaps it was a mistake. A number of factors combined to make the experience a bit unpleasant. I got the #21 Mi Kho Dau Hao Vit Tiem ($11.50), which is a dry egg noodle coated in oyster sauce, a braised duck leg, and a side of soup stock. Off the bat, the duck leg is too salty. I had to sip the broth not for flavor - it was fairly bland - but just to wash the salt off my palate. The green onion garnish in both serving vessels helped when I got it in a bite. And speaking of garnish, what's up with romaine lettuce being served instead of something like chives or bok choy? The noodle is the best part. It is al dente and very tasty, but it's not enough to carry the dish. The portion is also unsatisfyingly small, which I suspect doesn't change much even if you pick a different protein. On top of that, the heat was creeping in - not spiciness, but a warm summer day plus the hot broth. The A/C either isn't working well or the thermostat was deliberately set to a high temperature - shoutout to all my Las Vegas spots who know what needs to be done in the summer. And that's why it's a problem that they didn't even bring out the requested glass of iced water at first. You know Asian service makes it really hard to get anything served after your order is brought out, so I was over halfway done with my food anyway by the time I could find relief. There are better options for your noodle needs in this area. Skip this version of Mi La Cay if you can. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid, and they have always stayed consistently delicious. My family and I always order #14 on the menu and keep the soup on the side. The broth is so savory, and when added to the rest of the dish, completes the whole thing! The price has stayed cheap as well! The restaurant is old and the food is also. The duck was dry but had good flavor because maybe they get it from next door and freeze it. I wasn't satisfied with my dish but the coffee was good and woke my tired self up for a long day of driving. I'm sure their soup is better and I'll try it out next time. Upon ordering - The menu can be found pasted under the glass table top. Very filling meal as I ordered their mi Dac Biet (soup) comes Mixed with chicken, shrimp, and pork. The egg noodles were a bit hard to chew through as they're more on the bouncier side. The chicken was really tasty as I could tell it has that perfect smokiness to the skin upon biting into it. The pork was good as it had 10 spice flavor. Fried shrimp were ok. Mi La Cay is a franchise noodle restaurant. I have been dining here on and off for many years. The food is just average but doable if you crave some noodles and don't feel like waiting for a table. Every time I've come here on a weekend, there's hardly any customers. They survived in Little Saigon for over two decades because of the locals. The noodles are not that amazing but I do like their egg noodles. The broth is average and will do in a pinch. I usually order the seafood noodles (dry) with the broth on the side. Decent but nothing to rave about. The Chinese donuts are made fresh to order. Sometimes it's over fried and hard as a rock. Immerse into the broth to enjoy. The restaurant is located in one of the most busiest plaza on Bolsa. Parking can be a pain depending on the time of day. It's a typical Asian restaurant that is cash only. read more

Food was just okay. It tastes very different than the one on Brookhurst and Westminster. I wished their iced tea was like the other location as well. Maybe we went late? There was hardly anyone in the restaurant as it was after the lunch rush, but I really liked the fact that the owner spoke Cantonese so I could ask her some questions regarding the menu. A few items had the same description in English so I was a bit confused. I noticed in the Chinese writing the description was different. But in true Chinese style, I asked her in English "do you speak Chinese" and she barked in Chinese back "SPEAK" meaning "START TALKING".... it was quite funny. Hubby had a good laugh when I translated for him later on. After much pondering I ordered the house special I guess. It was what everyone else had -- the dry noodles with the chicken, shrimp and pork. It comes with a small bowl of broth and I did use a little of that to loosen the noodles so they were more pliable. Hubby got the dry noodles with cha siu and did the same thing. We only got lettuce with our bowl of noodles but I did notice that those people having the soup noodles got a plate of chives as well. When I had this dry noodle dish before there were chives and lettuce, so maybe different restaurants do things differently. I don't know. The broth (or nuoc) was on the salty side. It tasted good mixed in with the noodles but not on its own. I absolutely LOVED the texture of the noodles and the cha siu was really flavorful, but unfortunately, I didn't like the shrimp (not freshly fried -- was cold and tasted greasy) or the chicken. Maybe next time I'll just have the cha siu. Soda chanh was very tart -- very GOOD!! Prices were extremely reasonable. For 2 noodles and 2 soda chanh the total was a little under $14. Bargain if you ask me, but the downside is that they definitely use MSG. read more

The OG egg noodle place in little saigon since 1987. This place has authentic egg noodle soup that is located in one of the older super market plazas. Parking here is an absolute mess so driver beware. The shops around this place are super old and there's plenty of people walking all over this plaza during the weekends. Service here is hit or miss because of the old school owners and servers. Don't expect great service all the time but the actual food is pretty consistent. I usually get the house special which consists of popcorn shrimp, chicken and pork. The egg noodles are solid in texture and consistency. They are authentic and have a good egg flavor in them. The broth can be a bit salty but not really oily and has comforting warmth like pho broth. The shrimp is sorta whatever as there are tiny pieces of actual shrimp included. The chicken has the good fried chicken flavor and pork.. yeah.. good too. The prices are also OG. I ordered a regular bowl of house special noodles with broth inside and it was $5.50. Inside was busy but when you make food like this, it makes sense. I enjoy the vibe.. it feels like home away from home. Now my one complaint.. i just wish they would you bok choy in there soups instead of lettuce. This has been my go-to place for my mi cravings. It's a classic small Vietnamese restaurant that gives you what you need and nothing more: great food for a cheap price. LOCATION // It's located in the ABC plaza! Although the plaza itself is HUGE, parking here is such a pain because people randomly stop in the middle of nowhere, there are a ton of people and it's crowded, or you have to wait for the huge groups of people walking in the middle of the street. The actual restaurant is of decent size. AMBIANCE & SERVICE // I mean, it's a classic Vietnamese restaurant. Most people just come in, order and eat, and then leave. You see a variety of customers, including families, friends, or folks who come in solo. The service is not spectacular but I don't really expect that? FOOD // The food here is top notch. It really is my favorite mi place of all. I always get the MI LA CAY (DAC BIET) KHO. Everything is flavored well and the portions are pretty generous.
