Their fish sauce is one of the best and it comes with every order! * Chicken Noodle Soup with Chicken Breast: 9/10 - good portion, and the chicken was incredibly tender * Liver and Gizzard (Side Dish): 10/10 - so delicious I haven't been back since they relocated, but the workers are all the same from the previous location. Unfortunately, we had to wait about 30-45 minutes after being seated because my parents ordered the very popular leg cut. It's located in a small plaza that's usually empty, so parking should be easy. The interior is quite small, unfortunately, so you most likely will have to wait for a table if it's crowded. A big downside to the restaurant is that they don't give itemized receipts, and there are some items that aren't included on the menu. The additional plate of liver and gizzard was $9.99, and each cup of tea was $2, but the menu didn't include that at all. They basically just give you the ticket that the waitress took your order on, so you have no idea how much anything is unless you took a picture of the menu. Phở Sông Hải's my mom's go-to spot for phở gà, and I suppose that's also the case for many, considering the large crowds of older Vietnamese people who often frequent this place. To me, this place was just okay, but I have to preface by saying I am not the biggest fan of phở gà in general. The interior is pretty small, and there aren't a lot of tables that can accommodate many occupants, so don't be surprised if you have to wait. FOOD: Phở Gà Tươi Đùi Gà (3/5) - Phở with chicken drumstick/leg. Note that it's more expensive than the other cuts of chicken. The broth tasted clean and was on the sweeter side. The chicken comes on a separate dish, and it was yummy when dipped in the chili ginger fish dipping sauce. Both the chicken and the soup were topped with white and green onions. Okay overall, but I would prefer a stronger flavor. Bánh Canh Gà Ức (3.75/5) - I preferred this dish to the phở gà because it was more flavorful with its fried shallots topping. I'm also biased because I favor the thick noodles of bánh canh. Cơm Gà Hải Nam Đùi (3/5) - My brother had this and said the rice wasn't as flavorful as he wished. The sauce carried the dish. SERVICE: Service won't blow you away, but the job gets done. It does, however, take a hot minute to receive your food sometimes, so I wouldn't suggest dining here if you're on a time crunch. It took me three tries to eat here. They were unexpectedly closed twice and today, it's opened. 10am and they already ran out of thighs. I came back at a later time and I finally was able to order the chicken thigh. It was good. I love their broth and their liver, heart, a gizzards were so good. Their signature dish is their ginger, garlic fish sauce. Wow, it's so good! I highly recommend you go to this restaurant early in the morning. It's more of breakfast or lunch place. I would go early to get all the chicken thighs and drumsticks before they run out. For Thinsulin fans, you can just order pho without the noodles. This would make it green light. Arrived here at 12pm with my party and didn't get seated til 40 - 50 mins later and mind you they have a list where you put your name down outside by the door. What's the point of having your customers write down their name and party of number for the workers here to only skip you and call parties that came right after you? Shit makes ZERO sense to me. Sometimes it's also a hit or miss if they have thigh or not otherwise you're left with breast. I don't understand how this place is all hyped and deserves the long wait times, settling for whatever chicken pieces are left, and mediocre, I don't care for the customers attitude. I only came here because it was after a memorial mass nearby and our party of 8 came right before they opened at 9am. The service is typical nonchalance and you have to flag down your server if you are missing anything, like my drink after all the bowls were brought out. The actual setup with the ginger fish sauce is typical and the separation of chicken pieces from the actual noodles and broth is more unique because usually, they're combined. The actual flavor was nothing special IMO and waaaayyy too many noodles for the ratio of broth. I couldn't even finish half of it. The herbs were fresh and the fish sauce was flavorful. Yes - when you can actually get a bowl of the pho in front of you, it's GOOD. The chicken is the free range, walking kind that tastes so so good. But the journey to getting some food in front of you is a bit challenging. If you try to order take out, you may need to call 4-5 times to get them to pick up the phone. If you manage to get a table after waiting an 45 minutes to an hour, you might have to share it with a family of strangers. The restaurant is a bit tight and always busy and full. If you manage to sit down and order, they'll tell you that all the have left is "wing" but then serve the people next to you the thigh that you've wanted. Also don't forget to bring cash. This is one of those places that sells out everyday, it feels like they dont care about the customer experience. They really do place their efforts in getting probably one of the best chicken phos in town. The only time i've had a decent experience here is going really early at opening. The soup is flavorful and warming with the cold rainy weather. I love the udon-like noodles. They are chewy with a bite. I used to frequent this place for my pho ga cravings and never understood the low yelp rating until my experience yesterday. When I came to pick up my to-go order, there was an elderly lady in her late 60s/early 70s sitting at the register. Since I haven't been here in a while, I was a bit surprised when the total for the order was much higher than expected so as I was paying, I asked if she could give me a breakdown of the price (the last time I was there last year the pho with chicken drumsticks was only $16 each and this time it's $19). The moment she heard my question, her smile quickly disappeared and she gave me the price breakdown in the form of a question as though I don't know how to do math. As she spoke, she also proceeded to toss my change on the counter instead of handing it back to me like I did when paying her, and without a thank you or closing greeting, she just looked on to the next customer.
