Been here several times and the service continued to mediocre to just bad. Wife and I sat in the last booth right next to bar and wait station and still could net get anyone to pay attention to us. Food is usually pretty good, although overpriced in my opinion. But the service makes think twice before coming here. At one point the manager and 5 other waiters were literally standing within 10 feet from our table and they totally ignored us. Seems odd that with a fairly packed house 1 or 2 people are busy and the rest of the staff is not. read more

Whenever I get back to TEXAS this is my FIRST meal. I always have the beef fajitas and I have never been disappointed. Plus, there is enough for me to get at least two meals out of one order! Another great entree is the Deluxe 57. It's HUGE. And has beef tamale, chicken enchilada, cheese enchilada, a hard taco and rice and beans. The chips and salsa are great. The queso is delicious. WOW! I can think of a few places I'd personally select over Mi Cocina, in general, but they dropped OFF my list with this most recent visit. Over priced (for the amount of food you get), expensive (yes, there's a difference), just so-so in taste and the service was horrible....or should I say "muy malo". Canned Diet Coke?! Really?! That was odd for a place of that size. I was amazed- I expected it to be so-so...but they let me down for that one- it was worse than expected and more expensive than planned. If it weren't for the chips and salsa- I'd have starved. Come on people- you're an upscale Tex Mex place, drop the profit margin, give us at least a 6 oz portion on the fajitas...or even increase the beans/rice portion. It's one thing to be profitable, but it's another thing to do that while giving TV dinner portion meals. Compliment?: It looked clean enough...but that's all I got...sorry folks. I've been coming to this location for a little over a decade and this was the first time I was asked to tie my service dog to a post outside in the parking lot. We have come here several times with my service dog, always requested the patio and it has never once been an issue. I'm going to assume the manager was the person that just came outside and told me that dogs were not allowed. Unfortunately today I was a passenger in someone else's vehicle and wasn't expecting to exit the car for any reason so I didn't bring my dog's service vest. When the manager asked where his best was I was about to pull up the medical paperwork and service animal documentation on my phone but he was so rude about it we just decided to leave. Perhaps I've spoiled my taste for Mexican food in Dallas but I feel this place wants to stand up to the likes of Gloria's in the ambiance and decor but the food doesn't come close. It's one of those places that lure you in with the memory of good cheap(ish) drinks only to disappoint with the lack of originality, flavor, and freshness of the food. We visited this location for our holiday party with a group of 10 and mostly received good service though there were little details to nitpick like the lack of enough silverware, napkins, and space. My wife had the tamale and taco combo and she genuinely liked hers. I had shredded chicken enchiladas that tasted as though they were mass prepared earlier in the evening and reheated for our meal at 8:00pm, then doused with sauce in an attempt to drown the rubbery texture that the tortillas developed. We have one of these closer to our home and I can see returning for happy hour when they finish their patio, but I wouldn't trust bringing a dinner party back here on my recommendation. read more

My husband and I LOVE Mi Cocina. Last night we went to the Campbell location with our 15 month old daughter and were so pleased to see so many other families and small children there. It made for a fun environment and atmosphere which was a pleasant surprise! A couple of notes for parents.. The guac though very enjoyable for us was a little too flavorful for our young daughter who loves avocado on its own. Also, the ground beef in the classic tacos is VERY salty. I'm sorry MiCo but it was pretty intense. The flavor was great but the salt was over the top. I won't order it again for my daughter. Without a doubt the best Mi Cocina in DFW. The restaurant has an open atmosphere with many windows. The bar is well designed with three TV's for your sports watching pleasure. The food is excellent and the service is second to none. They take pride in their customer service and food. We've been coming here weekly for years and absolutely love this place. Part of me feels guilty for spreading the good word as it may draw more customers, but the reality is I've got to give credit where credit is due. If we see each other at the bar...cheers. I just sent a really long letter to Mi Cocina about my feelings on their recent menu changes. Okay, so it might be nearer to a novel than a letter... but still. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I went to Mi Cocina for my birthday in December and was depressed to find their awful "Cocina Changa" in place of the Lucy Changa of yore was slathered in sour cream.. which I loathe. When we wound up at Mi Cocina today (driving around randomly, just trying to find some lunch), I couldn't even bring myself to order the Cocina Changa. Extra charge for substituting fajita meat that used to be standard. Fear of sour cream. Sauce served on the side instead of on top. No cheese on top. Poor imitation of a once great menu offering. Not worth trying to customize to the way I like it during ordering because that's just more stuff to mess up. So I ordered fajitas. They were alright. Not usually served with cheese on the side (really?), but thankfully they didn't charge me any extra for the cheese. They could've just substituted the cheese for the guacamole that I didn't want-- so there might be a charge if you want both. The tortillas served were good, and there were 4-5 of them in the warmer, so just enough. The sizzling cast iron plate the fajitas were served on was drenched in oil to keep the onions from sticking, so the onions themselves wound up being quite oily. The chicken had a good flavor, but it wasn't exceptional. I did like that the chicken breast is cut on the bias in large strips, rather than uniform, skinny slices (like everyone else does). Overall, they were decent chicken fajitas, but I don't know that they were worth the $13.95 price tag. Boyfriend got enchiladas (1 spinach, 2 chicken) and ate them all. So clearly, they're passable, but also not really worth the ever-increasing price tag. He preferred the spinach over the chicken by a huge margin. Beverage refills were slow, and getting the attention of the waiter (for refills and lime wedges) wasn't as easy as it could've been. Chips and salsa were decent. Not stale chips. Not overly hot or overly mild salsa. If you're not in love with the Lucy Changa (and will therefore avoid the place in the future- like me), and are willing to try a mexican food place with a higher price point, then Mi Cocina might be worth visiting. I hear their Mambo Taxi margaritas are quite good. Overall, though, I doubt I'll be back of my own suggestion in the next year. read more

On a trip out to the Homegoods store....waaaay out of my neighborhood this weekend, we decide to eat in the area. Not a whole lot of options in this shopping area so we decide on Mi Cocina. Looks good on the outside...looks good on the inside as well....goes downhill from there. I was really wanting seafood so I decided on getting something with shrimp as I am a BIG shrimp lover being from the boot state. I pointed two entree's out to the waiter for his opinion, and he said to get the Tacos De Cameron...translation, Shrimpy Tacos. At first I thought maybe it was the seasoning, couldn't put my finger on it....I asked my Mom to take a bite and tell me what she thought - she took a bite and then gave me an evil eye and could hardly swallow. She was like, why did you have me try this??! The shrimp is bad....very shrimpy-fishy! (Evil smirk) I told her....well, if I would've said....this is nasty, you try it and see if I'm right...would you have tried it? She gave me that - I'm gonna get you look and went back to eating her meal, which she said was delicious. Anyhow...I left pretty disappointed in my meal - good thing I filled up on chips and salsa or I would've left hungry too. I didn't make a stink and even send it back or mention it to the waiter...didn't have time...had other plans and needed to go and not sit around and wait for a manager....I just know not to go back and if I ever do, don't order the Shrimpy Tacos. This is in reference to this particular location only. If the restaurant is slow, the service is okay... otherwise, they are consistently on the slow to very slow side. However, the waiters are always so nice, it's hard to get mad about it. But then, I don't get mad very easily. (Unless you are one of the two obnoxiously loud women sitting two tables away from us this afternoon who kept asking "what are the nachos called with steak on them?"... just order the g**d**** nachos with steak on them, the waiter can probably figure out what you want based on that! OR shut up and look and the menu!) Anyway :-) *regaining composure* Maybe they are under-staffed?? Who knows. Just don't go there if you're in a hurry. The food is fine. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either. I will say, I had "Karla's" for lunch and it is full of yummy veggies. Personally, I loved it AND I don't feel like a big, fat cow for eating it so extra bonus points for tasty veggies. The margaritas are good, not great. The red wine is borderline awful. I typically avoid national chain restaurants like the plague, as too often the food quality is poor and the employees are disgruntled. I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience at Mi Cocina though! I had the cheese enchiladas with spinach, and subbed the sides of rice and beans for grilled vegetables. Outstanding! The flavors were perfect and I got a lot for the money. The hostesses and wait staff were friendly and accomodating. A job well done. Glad I passed through town that day. read more

This was my first time going to this location. The food was ok and the table service was slow. We went for a lunch meeting and it took quite a while for the server to take our order. We were seconds away from asking for service. On the plus side the hostess was great! Very friendly and welcoming. The food was sub-par. I got a taco salad and it was very salty. Did I complain? No. Reason: we were on a lunch break and didn't have time to complain. I give this location a 2.4/5 because of the slow service and sub-par meal that I received. Mico's is my first choice for Mexican Food. What's with these reviews? These reviews are way too low. What do they want from a Mexican Restaurant? Go to Mico's for the enchiladas (Chicken, Cheese or beef and Cheese Tacos), the rice and beans. The enchiladas are the best. The rice is like butter. The beans can be inconsistent so most times have them double the rice. If you like steak fajitas, I recommend the Sunset Style beef rib eye fajitas. Yes, the entrees are a few dollars more than most places. Are there things I would change or avoid? Yes. I like my tea with one pink and one blue. I like fountain cokes. So I avoid ordering soda, it's served in can. And I carry a bag of Equal (blue) in my car. read more

Normally i love mi cocina but our waiter had a really bad attitude, he obviously didn't like working there. Lunch for 2 was $54 (no alcohol). Ridiculous. I'm not sure if the workers all got chewed out or what but they all seemed mad. Not a good experience. My food was fine but my friends was luke warm, he asked them to warm it up and of course the waiter had an attitude about that too, like we were putting him out. I had to stop by and write a quick review about my favorite Mexican food joint. First of all I'm OBSESSED with Mexican food and Mi Cocina is my favorite Mexican restaurant to bring a spicy smile to my face. Chips and salsa set the tone and can definitely ruin the entire meal if they are terrible. I love love their chips and salsa. The chips are the perfect thickness to ensure no breakage will occur when placing a heaping amount of guac and salsa in your mouth. The salsa has that perfect level of tomato goodness and spicy flare and to help with the heat you must try the Dilemma!!! Scrumptious!!! The best a part about my dining experience at Mi Cocina is definitely the chicken fajitas. It's the perfect portion and they are not covered in oil, which I hate, and I love the bell pepper and potato wedges it's served with. The corn tortillas are amazing and the guac, well, is amazing. Needless to say, I love this place. A few other great choices are the Enchiladas Modern, tortilla soup, sour cream chicken enchiladas, and the quesadillas!!! Happy eating!! read more

My husband loves Mi Cocina, mostly just for the Rico Salad. Personally, I love the brisket tacos which ordered GF comes with a different variation of the rice and corn tortillas. Since moving to Richardson, I've noticed this location isn't particularly busy or overly packed like the location in Watters Creek we used to frequent, which I like. Came in, asked for a table for 4, I had 3 out of my 4 people at my table and we waited at least 30 minutes, our server gave us 2 waters and chips and we never saw her again. It's one of those places that gets so loud from the over crowding that you have to yell to have a conversation. Good food as usual at Mi Cocina in Richardson. The #12 lunch special is a perfect combo of chicken quesadillas and a cup of tortilla soup. As usual, they were busy, but this time the service was not good. Our waiter had to be reminded far too many times to get more tea and never brought the hot sauce requested. I was at a business lunch and REALLY wanted to mention the service (or lack of) to the manager but could not today. Maybe next time will be better. Came in for dinner and it wasn't too busy. We were able to be seated right away. It took a while for our server to come out, I went to the restroom and came back and our table still wasn't greeted. However, we did have chips and salsa. I came with my two vegan family members, and they were wanting to get the mushroom fajitas. Since they are vegan, they were hoping to get double guacamole instead of the rice and beans (rice has chicken stock) and they don't eat cheese, or sour cream so most of the sides would be missing. The server would not let them get the guacamole in place of all of those missing toppings at all. They decided not to get the meal and basically just ate chips and salsa. Kind of disappointing that he wasn't so accommodating. On top of that my fajitas didn't come out sizzling hot like they should be. They were cold and I asked for them to be heated up. Worst place to go to ever. Wouldn't recommend at all. Not even if they give you the food free. Had dinner tonight with my husband on 7/9/21 he ordered fajitas I ordered nachos. Food came out, the fajitas weren't even hot. Nachos were warm. I told one of the servers to send it back and the manager brought them back did not even apologize for the inconvenience. The bartender's service was fine. Nothing great. You can clearly tell they're understaffed. But to top it off one of the servers was about to serve one of her tables water in a new "clean" glass and she saw something on the glass proceeded to take it off. And use the same dirty glass. That's disgusting. I can only imagine what they do with the dishes they serve the cold food on. I didn't say anything nor the manager bother comping anything at all. When we left and went to the car 2 of the 3 managers that were there were taking a lovely little break outside on their phones while the entire restaurant is swamped and food is coming out cold on a Friday night at almost 7pm. read more
