My husband and I took my sister there for her first time last night and it was really nice. Our server was really helpful and quick with everything. The environment or really relaxed do quiet, but there wasn't anyone hardly there so it made for a cool experience for us. It seems to me that Mi Cocina is always busy especially this location. The food is standard tasty mexican food. The service is pretty prompt, they do turn a lot of tables during the course of the day so it's gotta be efficient. This location is extremely lively. That can be a good thing but I find it too loud to hear and have a good conversation so that's the main downside I see of coming here. Otherwise, it's a standard Mi Cocina that you've come to expect. read more

I really love this place when i visit Dallas. Always super friendly staff hostess, waiters and managers. The bacon wrapped shrimp is my fav so fat and the sunset fajitas are interesting. Fatima is very professional, courteous, friendly, polite, great attitude and very attentive as well as sociable. We love coming to see her and always ask to be served by her. I've eaten here several times and at other locations, but this visit was just for a quick drink and some chips and salsa. A buddy of mine and I wanted one last drink before we called it a night, so we chose this spot. We grabbed a quick drink, and I tried the mambo taxi that everyone was talking about. Got seated outside today and immediately was met by a server that threw my silverware down on the table and asked for my drink order in mins of being there. Before I could finish my drink order, he started walking away mid-sentence until I politely said "excuse me" and he took the rest of my order. I did not feel welcomed or listened to so decided to just order to-go and not cause a scene. He was continuously rude and short until I said my order was a "to-go order" (10 mins later) and then he suddenly was super helpful and grateful to serve me. Disappointed because I just wanted a nice meal and drink in the beautiful weather. The manager was amazing and helpful afterwards. Still was charged because my gift card was taken by Ren before the manager came and helped. Don't judge people before serving them. read more

Gone way down hill! We used to love Mi Covina but not anymore. Enchilada tortillas are tough! How is this possible at a place like this? The steak meat used for my favorite dish has changed! I had the brisket tacos and my wife had the enchiladas. Everything was good, the brisket tacos were juicy and flavorful, the chips and salsa were good, and the chicken enchiladas were dry but good. Nothing was bad, but it was unremarkable for the price. There are cheaper taquerias that have the same food quality though. read more

I still can't believe Mi Cocina is a chain. I'm in the Northeast and our Mexican chain restaurants are mostly pathetic. And if I'm being totally honest, they have better food and drinks than some of our authentic Mexican restaurants. Be thankful, Texans, you don't know how good you have it. My friends literally live down the road from this location, so I've been here a number of times. Sometimes for lunch or dinner, and sometimes just to pound back a Mambo Taxi or two. I can see why some people refuse to buy into the hype about a cocktail, but I am not one of those people. It is the perfect slushy, swirly union of a margarita and sangria that I suck down despite the threat of brain freeze. Between sips of Mambo Taxi, be sure to give the complimentary chips and crazy good spicy salsa some love. And if you really want to do it up, get some guacamole and queso blanco for the ultimate chip-dipping trifecta. As for entrees, their poblano chicken enchiladas are my go-to every time. They're topped with a delicious poblano cream sauce and served with rice and refried beans. I always leave Mi Cocina happy and full. Pair that with their stellar customer service and you have yourself a great dining experience. There is usually a wait more often than not for their elegant dining room, but just get a Mambo Taxi from the bar to sip to pass the time. Or try for their nice patio if it isn't absolutely deadly outside. I'm not sure when I'll be in Dallas next, but it's no secret where I'll be eating at least twice when I am. read more

Came in on a Saturday about 12:30pm. Business was slow as its a restricted service. The patio was to capacity so we sat inside. Margaritas were good, as thats what we came for. Our server then got a party of 8 that clearly put him "into the weeds". Service was slow the rest of our visit, which is pretty ridiculous considering they had at least 5 servers along with full support staff. What appeared to be the two managers sat in the center of the dinning room in front of the bar nearly the entire time. They were definitely not in tune as to what was going on on the floor. The gloves and masks were inconsistent throughout the front of house staff, can only imagine what guests cant see in the kitchen. The female manager had neither mask nor gloves and the male manager had only gloves that he kept touching his hair then multiple surfaces around the restaurant. I probably wont come back to this location and if i go to another Mi Cocina i would recommend to everyone that they should wait till after this pandemic clears up more. read more

My first impression of this restaurant was that it is a good looking place, but that the food wouldn't be that good. Oh how I love being wrong about food. The service was fast, friendly and very courteous. The chips and salsa were tremendous,crispy chips, fresh salsa, spicy but not too spicy. The meal was good, although a little cold but still very good. I was highly impressed with the overall freshness of the food. The main drawback to this place is the price. Almost $50 for two people. Bad frozen margaritas. Watered down and icky flavor. Had to order a shot and lime to make it tolerable. Even the ranch water with don julio tequila was meh. Queso for chimichanga was inedible. It's funny when a restaurant you've been going to for 15 years suddenly starts taking "special exception" reservations on busy nights while there's a 45 minute wait. We were bypassed not only for that 12 person party (which after 30 mins of being set up is still not seated) but several other parties that were further down the list and of the same size or bigger for no apparent reason, while we stood and watched / eventually asked the hostess and got an extremely rude response. The manager told us it was a special exception even though corporate policy is no reservations, but not to worry because it annoys him even more than us...sure. Service here is terrible, and quite frankly, always has been. Food is delicious and that's the only reason we ever come back. Locations at Preston Center and Frankfort and the Tollway are tremendously better. Avoid this one. read more

I was hesitant to visit reading the reviews, but being familiar with the Addison location I wasn't sure how it could be much different. I don't want to list out my concerns because frankly I don't have the patience to write a 500 word review but this place is not very polished. Any other busy restaurant you're seated, you eat, and you're gone, but mi Cocina Richardson finds a way to make each step difficult and unpleasant. My waiter was not helpful when asking about the menu, and acted offended as if I had questions and didn't know what I wanted. The ribeye was overcooked. I asked for maize tortillas and got flour and it took 10 min to get someone's attention. Much more to be said but to put it simply, do not come here. They are more concerned with take out than their in person patrons. And even then from the reviews it sounds like they don't do much better on that side either. Richardson beware! read more

The food was well below par. I took my leftovers home for lunch tomorrow. I found half a jalapeño slice in my chicken enchilada and hardly any chicken. Food was cold as well(I got the deluxe 57.) Very negative, very mediocre experience. We came to this location on a Wednesday night to relax and for a late bite to eat and a drink after our power was finally turned on after 4 days following a crazy storm. The wait staff, bussers and even the manger displayed a negative attitude from the minute we sat down, acting like we were putting them out, even though we were just asking for the basics: chips & salsa, water, and utensils. When I asked to speak to the manager, she tried to explain that they thought we were finished eating, since my wife & I joined a table with another couple who had already eaten, but that made zero sense since I asked for water several times and ordered food when I sat down. We are huge MI Cocina fans. Has been a regular in our rotation for year. Recently moved very close to this location. Compared to our old home location (Rockwall) and others we have tried around the metroplex this location is disappointing. Wait list, hosts/hostesses are disorganized. Wait staff has generally been good, but the disorganized feeling still comes through and service is a bit inconsistent. Food here is just not as good. Quality is inconsistent, sauces are inconsistent and runny/watery. Queso Blanco is watery and not near as good. Even the classic Mambo Taxi taste a bit watered down. Can see that some of the procedures are different from what we were used to seeing. May or may not matter. Was really surprised and disappointed by this quality difference. Have been multiple times in the last 3 months. Waited to write this review hoping it might be a once or twice off thing. But the lesser quality has remained. Will continue to go occasionally, it is just too close not to, but not loving it the way we used to. Hopefully, things will improve. read more

We used to eat here once a week. Today all the prices have increased, Frozen Margarita's are now pumped with air and very frosty. Not the same Margarita's at all that were served all these years. Sat at the bar waiting for our table and was charged $33.00 for three Margarita's. I asked the bar tender at the time and she said it was correct. This seemed really high, but I figured they just had a price increase. I sat down and thought this was not right so I told the bar tender that I need a itemized receipt and she said she made a mistake! The bartender said I would get a credit but never did. Really? The service was terrible, as the waiter totally forgot our appetizer, didn't check on us until we were finished with our meal. I doubt we will go back! Mi Dia, and Meso Mayo are much better! Not impressed with MiCocina AT ALL. Salsa and chips nothing special. Queso- again nothing special. Fajitas -nothing special and worse part is WHY put potatoes on the fajita skillet?? We didn't order "potato" fajitas! I've noticed this trend not only in this Mexican restaurant but others and I think it's just a way to make the skillet look fuller without putting enough meat on there. This restaurant might have to be added to the Do Not Return list for me. In the past the service has been respectable but we didn't even have that on the most recent visit. I'm sure our server meant well enough but there are certain limitations to someone whose english is spotty. This may be the reason why my Carne Asada came out close to well done (almost no pink) when I asked for medium. There wasn't any flavor/seasoning to it that was all that special either. I didn't send it back since I didn't want to wait to eat any longer - and somehow I don't think it would have made a difference. I've also had the brisket tacos here and that turned out to be a dissapointment. The meat was actually good but it was drowned out by the cheese and greasy tortillas - you could see through them. Been here several times and the service continued to mediocre to just bad. Wife and I sat in the last booth right next to bar and wait station and still could net get anyone to pay attention to us. Food is usually pretty good, although overpriced in my opinion. But the service makes think twice before coming here. At one point the manager and 5 other waiters were literally standing within 10 feet from our table and they totally ignored us. Seems odd that with a fairly packed house 1 or 2 people are busy and the rest of the staff is not. read more
