Veggie Burrito
Divya L.

Great burritos, their salsa tastes amazing, and huge portions. I got a wet veggie burrito, half and half sauce, and it was a treat. It came with 4 tostada shells and salsa verde. Food was good, the burrito sauces were tasty and flavored well. I could easily share this portion size with another person. The hostess handling patrons and customers was super sweet to work with and order from. She did an amazing job handling customers that came into the restaurant. The restaurant itself was quite packed, get there early to secure a seat or (see if you can) call ahead of time. The price for the burrito was more expensive than typical places which is why I'd rate it 4/5 stars, otherwise 5 star food!

Carlo R.

Hostess said a couple minutes wait for to go order, ended waiting like 45 minutes. Absolutely no sense of urgency for people waiting for their food.

Asada soft tacos and MINI CHIMIS. Chips and salsa
Samantha N.

Solid tacos and burritos here. Today, I got tacos and mini chimichangas. They have Taco Tuesdays but the promotion doesn't apply if it's also Cinco de Mayo. On a separate occasion, I had their ceviche which comes quite large. Felt like its own meal; but sadly, I didn't really like it. Maybe there was too much of it so it felt forced to finish it. I also would order the wet burrito from here about once a month or so because it's really good and filling. The carne asada wet burrito with no lettuce. Service was decent today, but we had to ask for utensils (for scooping guacamole onto taco) and limes, which I thought should have automatically come with the street tacos. They gave me two halves of juiceless limes. 4 stars for consistent yummy food quality though which is most important and should be known!

Grilled Fish Taco

I was looking forward to Taco Tuesday at this establishment; however, I was disappointed. First, I asked for limes with my Jamaican Lemonade and received lemons, which wasn't a favorable drink. My fish taco was overcooked, so I couldn't tell whether it was fish or not, and it had no seasoning. The beef taco was tough, with no flavor. I didn't feel like I was in an authentic Mexican Restaurant.

I grew up around this restaurant and couldn't believe I hadn't tried it this whole time. They have some weekly specials and good prices for their combo plates and menu in general. Service was great and the food cooked delicious. Would definitely come back again. They also have taco Tuesday!

Tasteless albóndigas soup
Roger M.

It's 10:45am nearly 11am. Only two customers were inside normally breakfast is a Mexican start to the morning. I am very disappointed in the quality of food that both locations have. Very bland. Not authentic. I normally don't make reviews like this and it sucks that the food doesn't have that authentic flavor you expect from most Mexican establishments. I have been here several occasions to see improvement? but the food doesn't taste good. Makes sense why these locations are mostly empty most of the time.. I ordered a small plate the albóndigas soup got only two meatballs very small and it wasn't pleasant to eat. No bay leaves, also the carrots, celery, potatoes and vegetables were firm almost as if they cut them and threw them into the soup. Lastly don't ask for Jamaica it's not made inhouse it's a powdered version tastes awful. Hopefully they revaluate their food and have their workers taste it and give an unbiased opinion my honest advice hire better cooks. I will not come back to both locations. $15 total for these items.

Missing guacamole and sour cream! So disappointed!

We picked up our order, and when we got home we realized the guacamole and sour cream were missing from our order. We called to let the restaurant know, and instead of apologizing or offering a solution, the employee simply asked if we wanted to drive back and pick up the missing items. We live about 20 minutes away, so returning wasn't a reasonable option. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was the lack of customer service. Orders should be checked for accuracy before they're handed to customers, especially for takeout. A simple apology and an effort to make things right would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left us disappointed, and we'll think twice before ordering takeout from here again.

Chicken taco

We came for taco Tuesday. My boyfriend had four different small ones. I had one regular size taco loaded with beef. It had a tasty sauce on it and lettuce and tomato. It was really delicious and very filling. The service was very good and everybody was very nice there.

Chilaquiles rojos!!

The menudo is really good!! I came here specifically for that and I was not disappointed! This time I got chilaquiles rojos!!

Cool little spot. Checked it out for dinner one night. The customer service was good. The food was good and fresh. Great horchata! I definitely would go back.

Al pastor burrito - my personal favorite for cravings!
Mai-ly D.

I came here when they first opened and have been going back since then. Within the Cerritos area, there aren't many Mexican restaurants, and this is definitely one of the best ones. The food is priced fairly and the portions are very generous. Most importantly, it tastes great! I hate it when places try too hard to "upscale" the food and compromise the traditional flavors of the cuisine; this place makes everything with authenticity. It's exactly the kind of humble and delicious food you're craving for when you want Mexican food. Some dishes I would recommend are the chimichangas, street tacos, their popular wet burrito, and the ceviche. Their strawberry lemonade also tastes fresh, and the nice waitress kept giving us refills :).

NOPE! i don't even think the staff has changed! i've been knowing these people since i was a kid and they're still here. la capilla is the definition of a mom and pop hole in the wall mexican restaurant. and that's part of the charm and what makes it so amazing. you start off with fresh chips and home made salsa. after all this time it's still the best red salsa out here. the menu is full of authentic mexican dishes. there's something for all ages and tastebuds. i love: chile verde, arroz con pollo, mini tostada, carnitas burrito, tortilla soup, and machaca just to name a few things. i could get one of everything if my tummy allowed!! when you come eat here, you are coming for the vibes. you feel like family even if it's your first visit. everyone here is genuinely happy to be working and you can tell. the food is made with such love. idk what i would do if they shut down! i have so many memories here as a kid. i've been here with family, friends, and even solo. my husband and i had our first date here, and he also came here often as a child. it's one of those places where, even if it's not nostalgia for YOU, you can tell this place is rooted in family and culture and tradition. no, it's not a fancy steakhouse. but it's not meant to be. come by and taste for yourself why this place is so historic and special. a cup of tortilla soup is a MUST!!!! :)

The bartender was super attentive, and she was always there so it was very easy to order! I ordered two short rib tacos, which the tacos were $1 off, and the mole tots, which was probably $4 off? Pretty worth visiting during happy hour! Service was very quick. There were also other few people ordering food besides drinks at the bar. Starting off with the tacos, the short rib was very nice! Very soft, tender, and flavorful. You can taste that they put amount of hours to preparing the meat for it. I just wished they added more condiments to the taco cause it was just cilantro and onion. I wish there was like salsa, radish, etc. It's kind of pricey compared to a street taco, but the quality of the meat was definitely higher. Also the mole tots, this was pretty good, although I wish there was more cheese. First few bites were pretty good, but the more you eat it, it does taste quite overwhelming from the black salsa. I wish there was also more toppings to it too. Overall, dining at the bar during happy hour was very chill! The bartender was also very nice and welcoming. Saw a DJ was setting up, but didn't get to see him play when I was dining around 6:30pm.

The dining area is actually a pretty good size, very clean, and the cashier whom I picked my order up from was very nice. She asked me to help myself to the salsa bar while my food was finishing up and their salsas were delicious and fresh (you must try the mango habanero salsa)! I just got takeout and ate my lunch back at my desk and although I found the nachos to be expensive (14.02), they were very delicious! The chips appeared to be homemade and not soggy. Lots of crema and crumbled queso along with refritos and chunks of chicken breast. I added jalapenos and of course the salsas that I got and they just complimented my nachos that much more! I will definitely be back and look forward to trying other menu items!

4 star rating is for their 3-Roll Taco…read more This place has always been reliable for their carne asada, California Burrito, chicken chimichangas, and 3-rolled tacos. I've been coming here since it was originally named Alberto's...The outside seating has not changed. It's still the same round table bench with the red umbrella. Service is the same, they're pretty quick at getting your food prepped. Now I said that their carne asada has always been reliable, but my last two times I've ordered a carne asada burrito (sour cream and cheese only) or a CA burrito, IYKYK, their meat has tasted different. It taste like it's some carne asada and then like some other mystery meat, sometimes liver... Either way I stop eating it when I have tasted it being weird. Maybe it's the other meats they serve that get mixed in. I don't dig that. So for that I would rate them down to a 3 star. I'm rating their 3 rolled tacos as 4 stars! It's the best around. It has the crunch and enough meat inside. It's not all tortilla like some places. We always order it with sour cream and cheese only, with carrots on the side.
