pumpkin waffle

This is a cute second-floor restaurant with great ambiance and decor. We went during brunch and were served and sat immediately. We enjoyed trying different flavors of the mimosa flight. However, we thought the pumpkin waffles and the quiche both lacked flavor. This is a great place to try with friends!

Disappointing visit -was exceedingly and intolerably hot, no AC, and despite empty tables they did not accommodate us and the bat seating was cramped and untidy. Even the bartender told us it was her first day and she was sweating heavily but tried her best. The martini described on the menu with olives -blue cheese-stuffed, was not! We left after first drinks which turned out to be a blessing because we discovered an awesome Italian bar/resto that's listed as new best of Pittsburgh...more on that in a sep review.

Sparkler Mimosa's...very cool.

Came for brunch with some friends who were getting a special event. They were pretty busy but we had made reservations ahead so they got us to our table quickly. After waiting for a while we had to flag the hostess down to ask where our waitress was because she brought water then nothing for 15 minutes. After ordering, the food and drinks came out fairly quickly. However, my order was wrong. I ordered the Frittata and they brought out the strawberry French toast instead. Rather than see them waste food I said it was fine and I would eat it instead. The French toast was ok, way too heavy on the strawberry jam. Overall an ok experience but the staff might have been overwhelmed. Our server never even brought us another bottle of water after we finished ours.

I went to Mezzo (second floor) two weeks before and this spot is a . classic italian food in a rustic environmen, hits all the right spot with great service. I will highly recommend to try their vodka sauce pizza and tiramisu. This can be a great spot for Valentine's Day as well.

Gnocchi with vodka sauce and shrimp

My boyfriend and I went to Mezzo for Valentine's Day and it was perfect! We were worried that we would be packed in like sardines like most restaurants for Valentine's Day - but that wasn't the case! It was busy but not chaotic. I ordered an espresso martini with cream and it was super tasty! They did mention that they were out of almost all of the wine on their wine list, which would have been a bummer if that was what I was looking forward to drinking. For an appetizer we got the peach and tomato burrata and it was phenomenal! If it was acceptable to drink the oil it was in - I probably would have it was garlicky and perfect with the sweetness of the peach! The pitas it came with were also delicious - I wish we got more than 2 though. For our main meal, I got gnocchi with shrimp and vodka sauce. The amount of food was unreal and I'll probably be eating it for days! It was super tasty even though gnocchi isn't normally my first choice. My boyfriend got a porkchop with polenta and said it was amazing and juicy. The menu was shorter and different than the usual, but they had great options! Overall, I highly recommend Mezzo for any special occasion (and in general!)

Tiramisu was decadent yet light.

My partner and I had dinner at Mezzo before heading to the theater, and the evening couldn't have been better. From the start, our host Alyssa set the tone: professional, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. She even offered salt and Parmesan cheese at the table, but it wasn't needed since the flavors from the kitchen stood perfectly on their own. The atmosphere was buzzing in the best way, with exposed brick walls and vintage Pittsburgh character that gave the space warmth and energy. It felt lively but still comfortable enough to enjoy a relaxed conversation. We shared the Burrata to start, then ordered the Horseradish-Crusted Salmon and the Short Rib Pasta, with a Caprese Arugula Salad on the side. Each dish was balanced and flavorful without being too heavy, the perfect pacing for a pre-show dinner. We ended with tiramisu and a cup of coffee, both rich and flavorful, and together they made a sweet finish to the evening. Service was smooth, the timing was spot on, and the overall experience felt well thought out. Prices are what you'd expect in the Cultural District for a high-quality dinner, and worth it for the food and setting. I highly recommend Mezzo if you want an excellent Italian meal before a show. The atmosphere is lively, the service is thoughtful, and the dishes truly deliver.

My sister and I went to Mezzo for Pittsburgh Restaurant week. It was absolutely delicious and service was excellent. We enjoyed house salads as well as dessert, but I completely forgot to snap those pictures. It was my first time trying panna cotta and it did not disappoint! It was so good and loaded with caramel. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to go again to try more!

Very good food, quick service, and tasty drinks! Our waitress was lovely and we felt well taken care of! Wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night. Portions were good, no leftovers!

I had a fun time dining at Mezzo. Mezzo is an Italian restaurant, which is located on the second floor of Sienna Mercato, a three-story complex of the same company that has an Italian-inspired establishment on each floor. Mezzo is a more traditional Italian restaurant, featuring wood-oven fire pizzas, pastas, small bites and cocktails. We had a reservation here, which I recommend making if you plan to dine on a Saturday night with a group. The dinner hour was pretty busy with groups. Located in downtown Pittsburgh, its location is walking distance to many other restaurants, bars, shops and lodging options. Our server was Daisy and she was awesome! Daisy was super friendly, checked in with us throughout our meal and made recommendations. I ended up just ordering an espresso martini and caesar salad, which were both solid. Everyone enjoyed their grub. It was a good time at Mezzo.

Terrible service and just okay pizza. What a nice atmosphere and location to unfortunately have this restaurant have it. Not going back.

Food is very good, but if you really like bad service delivered with a bad attitude, then Mezzo is for you.

Are there gluten free options here? And if so, limited, plentiful, etc?

Heading down this evening, any suggestions on what to order tonight?

1) Do you have reservations? 2) Has Hamilton started .... parking might be bad 3) order pork rinds…

After waiting 30 minutes for it, they decide to come out and tell me that they are out of bread pudding. It would've been beneficial to know that prior to paying, however, they did not even offer a refund. Instead, they told me they would give me a tiramisu instead. On day two, I placed an order for a salad with a chicken skewer upcharge. Upon getting my order and opening the container, I saw that the skewer was not in there despite being charged $10 for it. The other items here at the restaurant were not good, and I do not recommend this as they don't want to make good quality food. Lobster ravioli is pretty dry and tough to chew. Tiramisu is missing that earthy coffee flavor. Chicken caprese says that it comes with fresh mozzarella, however, they only gave us small circle of cheese on one side of the sandwich (covers about 1/4 of the sandwich). Do not get the truffle fries, they are the exact same taste as the normal fries. Last, the crab and shrimp dip is highly inconsistent. The first day, it was good and actually had pieces of shrimp. The second day, zero shrimp. In the end, this restaurant has several deficiencies that they do not seem willing to resolve.

Located in the strip district on the corner of Penn and 21st, the quaint environment hits you immediately as you walk down the stairs in the wine cellar atmosphere of the restaurant. We started with each getting a wine flight and a charcuterie board. There were a couple wines that were ok, but generally speaking, the wines weren't great. My intention was to figure out which wine we like best and buy a few bottles for home. After trying them, we decided to pass on this plan. The charcuterie board was great with a nice variety of cheese, meats, fruit, and crackers. For the main dish, my wife ordered the shrimp and crab cakes while I had the chicken parm. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and crab cakes (we just moved here from the DC/Baltimore area, so it's tough to review these crab cakes without being too unfair to CoP). The chicken parm was a bit burnt and the sauce pretty flavorless. Like I mentioned at the start, this place was probably 3-stars on the food and 2-stars on the wine, but the ambience made up for it, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars.

When I was ready to leave, I approached the bar to request my receipt. The woman working behind the bar was noticeably rude and seemed irritated that I had asked for it. The interaction was unpleasant enough that I chose not to carefully review the bill before leaving. I later noticed that a large-party gratuity had been added, even though our party was only five people. Had I known this in advance, I would not have left an additional tip. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant and the space has potential. However, the combination of the slow service and the rude treatment when I simply asked for my receipt was enough that I will not be returning. Customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable for requesting basic service at the end of a meal.
