How do you screw up a meal this bad? Half empty restaurant, took literally an hour between ordering and getting our food. I had to get up and find the waitress to ask for water, bread, and bill. Hands down, best Italian food I've had in a long time. Have been here several times, loved chicken Marsala, shrimp Alfredo, tagliatelle alla bolognese. Great apps- love the buffalo mozzarella, calamari, and house salad. Great service, wonderful, relaxing atmosphere and large portions make for a great deal. Highly recommend! read more

Real Italian meals in Hull??? You betcha! The service can be a little slow and rude which is why it got a 4/5 but the meals are just awesome. I highly recommend the Penne Rosa it's my favorite meal by far. They don't like to take phone orders for take out, but if you know what you want and ask very nicely, they will hook you up if you want to eat at home. If you eat there, get there early and I think they are closed on Monday's and grab a seat by the fire for a wonderful dinner. read more

Had dinner here for the first time on Saturday. The decor might scare some people but Mezzo Mare is definitely a case of don't judge a book by it's cover. The food was excellent and the service was good. I'm not a big seafood person so at first I was a little underwhelmed by the choices on the menu but the server explained was very receptive when I asked about getting Chicken Parm even though it was not on the menu. All the food is cooked to order so it takes a little longer to get it but it's definitely worth it. The portions are huge, be prepared to take some food home with you. Our waitress was attentive and quick with drinks and refills. You also cannot go wrong with their delicious desserts. We will definitely be going back again and again. read more

06/24/2012 This place needs a new chef! We got the veal piccata and although there was a huge portion of pasta-that dish was tasteless! There was about 5 capers and no taste of lemon or garlic for that matter. I told the waitress it should be "revisited." Besides the fact that it was really bad, they charges us an extra $5 for an additional plate. The temperature during the week was over 90 and we were told the AC was broken. Everything may be cooked to order, but believe me it's not good or worth the money. Spend your money at LaDalat or Bridgeman's in Hull and forget this place. I won't be back. read more

Mezzo Mare is a place to bring an appetite! The hostess and wait staff were so accommodating ... they took the time to explain the menu options, what most people do when they come ( split a meal) and save room for dessert... Daughter just moved to the area and this seems like a good family place to visit once a week! read more

My wife and I love Mezzo Mare and have had quite a few fantastic meals here. The portions are great, usually enough for the next day's lunch. My only complaint is that the lobster fra diavolo comes with the lobster in the shell, so it's kind of messy getting the meat out with the sauce already poured on the shell. I really like Mezzo Mare for a relaxed yummy night of Italian food, especially after a nice long walk on Nantasket. Since the expansion, I have to say that fireplace is a great addition and the bar area set aside from the dining area can be nice. The food is always very good, with HUGE HUGE portions. Enough for 3 meals in one. I love their gnocchi and almost always order it (the sauces vary from time to time). It's very nice that the meal always comes with a generous serving of salad, though at times the dressing has too much vinegar. Very family-oriented feel, but also can be nice for a more relaxed kind of romantic evening. read more

too bad so many reviews on this site echo my experience. but want to say at the outset that i first came here at least a dozen years ago with my kids. happened upon the place. loved it. kitschy. home-made food that was very good, and at the time a wine list that was a surprise for a small, local place-- quality affordable wines. you could tell there was care given to the whole experience. i don't know what has happened, but it seems to have gone on a long, slow decline w regard to whether the owner(s) still care about their customers. last time i went will be the last time i go. the place wasn't that crowded when we walked in. we were seated promptly. and there we sat. no one came to the table. completely bizarre since the restaurant is small. how does no one take responsibility? we sat for more than 20 minutes. my kids were hungry. we left. no one seemed to care that we did. if you own a restaurant and a party gets up and leaves without being served, if you care even a little, you make an effort to speak with them before they depart. not here. too bad. maybe they should change the name to "disperso en mare" read more

This place does not even deserve one star. We waited so long for our food and every time we were told it is made fresh. Well I should hope so!! Ten every time someone came over it was another 10 mins or well there is a big party. So is the big party your only party?? Are they more important than your other parties ?? I ate at Mezzo Mare the other night. I didn't know what to except but a couple that my husband and I know said they love it there. The place was nicely decorated with old school charm. The dinning area was roomy and clean. The waitress was pleasant, fast and seemed happy. Salads and bread came with our meal! Which I thought was nice considering not too many places do that any more. The food was the best part. The portions were huge and so yummy! Everything tasted so good and fresh. It really tasted like we were in Italy. I have to say we will come back again! I left this restaurant so aggravated last night that I feel compelled to write. My wife and I are small business owners and wanted a meal before heading home. Well we came here and they sat us in the bar area almost on the laps of other diners. The waitress was slow coming for our drink order and the drinks took a long time even though the bar was at my back. When she came she brought two drinks one for me and one for my wife who doesn't drink alcohol. I sent one back and she took our dinner order at the same time as the couple next to us. The couple next to us finished their meal, dessert and after dinner drinks before we got our entrees. I was beside myself and wanted to walk out. We were both very hungry and my wife convinced me to stay. The meals came out 1 hour after we ordered them. The food was good but I was so angry at this point that I couldn't enjoy it. I have vowed never to go back here and would suggest unless you have alot of time and patience, choose a different restaurant. read more
