Lemon cheesecake
J. B.

This is the place you come to meet the locals, eat beautiful food, have a wonderful chat with Victoria the owner and chef, and bring your pup for the tiny sweet patio (fresh water bowl already there). It's eclectic, comfortable, delicious (the food is truly fantastic) and definitely try the lemon cheesecake dessert... with crushed walnuts. As someone who is gluten free it was so nice to find such delicious food that could be made with gluten alternatives. We had a lovely evening and left feeling relaxed, happy, well fed and joyful to have met Victoria and friends! Our pup enjoyed it as much as we did :)

Ambiance is eclectic and one of a kind.

This place is such a special find! Imagine a one woman establishment where the priorities are organic, homemade, and authentic Italian cuisine! Victoria does an excellent job ensuring her customers are happy and her food is healthy and delicious. Hubby got the pasta with butternut sauce and vegetables plus the added Q-Ball (vegan meatball): overall he was happy and frankly just thrilled that someone caters to vegetarians and vegans!!! He said there could have been more sauce and that would have made it stellar! I got the chicken Parmesan with Marinara Sauce that was to DIE FOR! As an organic gardener I deeply appreciate her dedication to sourcing truly fresh and non toxic or processed foods. You could 1000% taste the difference - that sauce was screaming homemade! The vegan affogato was a mix of vanilla and chocolate and you could NOT taste the difference!!! It tasted like dairy! The strawberries were perfectly ripe and - of course - organic! We also really enjoyed the house red wine! We will definitely be back on our next visit to Cambria! Thank you, Victoria!

The minute you walk in your transported back to a 1950 postmodern vibe... imagine the light shining through pink carnival glass and that is the ambience visual when you walk in has a quirky vibe, which is by design. This is a quaint small restaurant with 18 seats inside, so you really need to make a reservation. What impress me was the fact that every meal for the most part had a vegan option to it in the restaurant it's more than happy to accommodate. They even have a two bite policy. If your food is not right within two bites, let them know and they'll fix it how many restaurants offer that ? This is Italian food with the California twist as they like to call it. It's enjoyable food If you keep an open mind. The owner and head chef is Victoria and Scott was our server who was very friendly and helpful. if you're vegan and visiting Cambria and you're hungry... and, If you are looking for something different... come check out Mezzo Italiano.

Chicken Soup
Ron O.

Food was lovely. Fresh ingredients, and a bit of a spin on the the traditional flavors. Features lots of fresh and organic ingredients. * Chicken Soup -- Nice, home made taste. Organic chicken, fresh veggies. * Caesar Salad -- Very good. Fresh, crisp romaine, lemony dressing, grated Parmesan, perfect crostini. * Chicken Parmesan -- Nice hearty dish. Organic chicken, perfectly crisp exterior, tender juicy inside, melty cheese. Pasta with choice of sauces -- puttanesca recommended by our server Scott was excellent. Marinara base, good heat, capers for tang. Fresh mixed veggies on the side. * Rolioli -- Basically a giant ravioli filled with ricotta-pesto cheese. Choose your sauce. To be different with this dish, we tried the butternut squash sauce which was delightful. Buttery and creamy. Features a selection of organic Italian wines and beer. Smallish dining room, and a few outdoor pet friendly tables (but only one with a real heater). Scott our server was friendly and awesome with his recommendations.

Outdoor seating was also available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a Caesar salad, a small sausage pizza, and one of Linn's pies. The portions were generous. After the salad, which was delicious, we couldn't finish the pizza and ended up taking a slice home -- and we tend to be big eaters. I really loved the pizza. The crust was chewy, not too thin but not too thick, and it had just the right amount of toppings. As we ate, I noticed that the table next to us had ordered a sandwich, and it looked delicious. I knew I would have to come back to try one. Sure enough, we went back the following day and ordered the Luigi's Special sandwich with fries, while my partner had the Chicken Club with onion rings. The sandwiches were outstanding, and so were the crispy fries and onion rings. Again, the portions were generous. When I am in the area, I will definitely be going back to Luigi's.

The pizza is the main character. We ordered a medium pizza, half-and-half: meat lovers, and pesto. Their medium felt bigger than a medium we've encountered in awhile! The pizza came out hot and fresh. The crust was crispy yet soft and bready. It wasn't a thick pizza crust which I really appreciate. The cheese pull was memorable. The best I seen in awhile- and the best pizza we've had in awhile. It was so good and affordable that we came back another night to order some burgers to go. This place is solid. We would definitely return.

(2 ) available 4- top tables open, but a party of 6 was told 30 minute wait. They declined and left. - A person came in asking for take out only to be told they were "inundated and not taking take out orders at this time." So far this is a management issue - these ladies were giving and needed 1 more server to keep them caught up- lots of business waking out the door due to poor scheduling- what a shame. One person behind the bar and 2 dining room servers would make this successful. It's too easy. - Food came out in a timely manner. Gary's pasta - 10/10 Clam chowder - 10/10 definitely homemade. My wedge- a little pricey but 8/10 only because the dressing came out clearly of a jar and no blue cheese crumbles. (Little things make a huge difference) - Moscow Marlin drink 10/10 - Another walk out. Lots of empty glasses at the bar. Would we come back? Only with these 2 servers. ( I think we got lucky) Definitely not on a Friday and If it's this much of a mess on a Friday, I can only imagine what a Saturday would look like. Cute place with amazing clam chowder and pasta.

And the onion rings were pretty boring. I don't think they make them there, I am not sure about that, though. But they had kind of a generic look and feel to them, but the problem was they had zero flavor. Like nobody put salt on them when they took them out of the fryer. That's the first thing you do when you pull something out of a fryer, you season it. The server was nice enough, but they have a thing now where if you ask for water, they want to sell you a bottle of water. I get that things are tough for restaurants, but I almost rather pay a little more for the sandwich and get water, if you know what I mean. I'm no food expert, or running a restaurant expert, these are just my reactions as a local who stops in here fairly regularly. I think if the folks who run this place feel like there's any value to my little thoughts, they would be easy to fix and wouldn't cost anything at all really. I've been coming here for years, and I want these folks to do well.

I ordered the fish and chips along with a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was very good, and the fish and chips were good too, but I was a little disappointed to learn the fish was Alaskan rather than something local. I also appreciated that the manager stopped by our table to ask how everything was. That kind of thing goes a long way and made it feel like they cared about the experience. The only odd part was the portioning on the fish and chips. The pieces were more nugget-sized than what I normally picture with fish and chips. My son received five fairly good-sized pieces, while I got four noticeably smaller ones. I could have said something, but since I had also ordered the chowder, I had plenty to eat and didn't bother. Not sure why this appears to be such a popular item. * Salmon Tacos -- Dry rub salmon chunks with chili lime mayo, shredded cabbage, mango salsa and black beans. Salmon was fresh enough, but a bit heavy on the dry rub seasoning. The mango salsa was nice. The side black beans had too much salt and cummin for my taste. * Flat Iron Steak -- It was rather average. Not the most tender or juicy skirt steak. Normally served with mashed potato and veggies, but they allowed us to sub mash potatoes for creamy polenta which was nice. I have to say we were expecting more from Indigo Moon based on the other reviews. Did I laugh out loud when I heard their out going phone message, yes, yes I did! We were two doors down staying at the Sand Pebbles Inn. On a Friday night we arrived about 5:30 p.m. No line. We brought a bottle of wine and sat near the fire pit and talked to a few folks while waiting for our table. They said come back at 7:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Predictably we powered though our one bottle of chardonnay. I took a stroll back to the hotel to grab another. By the time I got back my wife had already been seated. It was about 6:15 p.m. So much for the high demand and long wait. She got sat towards the back at a little two top table nowhere near the front with the ocean view. Meh. Okay let's do this. We put in an order of the Clams Casino to start, clam chowder, and we were going to split the large order of Cioppino. This is no knock on the restaurant but we were seated next to a couple that really liked each other. I mean a lot. Luckily my wife had her back to them. I tried not to watch but they were going at it pretty hard for being in a well lit crowded restaurant. Good for them? Ahh, to be 30 again. Sourdough bread was really sour. I don't think I've ever thought twice about bread being served at a restaurant until now. Clams Casino comes out and it's not looking so good. We know what this dish is and supposed to be. This was a bad version to say the least. There was little to no breadcrumbs. Just some clams on the half shell swimming in butter and garlic with a slice of bacon on top. A poor excuse for this dish. Only $27.50! I suggest they try Brophy Brothers Garlic Baked Clams. About a million times better and about $10.00 less. Then came the clam chowder. I've had clam chowder high and low and this was some of the worse I've ever had. First off it's kinda translucent and appears to be thickened with cornstarch or maybe xanthan gum. All I can tell you is it's gooey, not creamy, short on clams, and tastes of over powering black pepper. We also discovered an unexpected ingredient, spinach. This confused both of us to no end. So at this point my wife says she's had enough of this and tells the waitress to cancel the Cioppino, and bring us the check. She says back, it's too late for that. My wife isn't taking no for an answer and stands her ground. Where am I this whole time? I'm hiding behind my glass of wine wishing we were some where else. They brought the check without incident and we left. What a train wreck that was.

In fact is was so warm that my wife had to go outside to cool off a couple of times. Service was stellar. From the server, (Ramona) to the other staff. They took very good care of us. Kept our waters full and checked on us several times during our visit. Let's get down to it. The moment that counts. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. They were FANTASTIC. They were stuffed with a feta type cheese and were absolutely delish! My main dish wass the Filet Mignon. I ordered it medium. It came with veggies and mashed potatoes. When the steak showed up it looked good and I cut into the steak. It was done to perfection. It had some kind of JD whiskey sauce on it. I took a bite and it was awesome. SO much flavor. I was in heaven. It was like eating candy. I have always considered The Range in Santa Margarita the best but THIS, yeah this was going to be hard to beat! The Sows Ear was now top dog! The mashed potatoes were epic as well. Perfectly cooked and very creamy. The veggies, (broccoli, squash, and carrots), were great as well. Not a huge squash fan but they did not over do the squash and it was just full of flavor. This REALLY went well when it came to the food. The portions were spot on. Lastly we come to the dessert. We had the Mud Pie. Yep, it was a HUGE piece for less than $10.00. Great value and man.........., was it good. Enough for 2 people. It really creates that intimate setting when you can share with your significant other and it be more then enough. This place would have gotten 5 stars had the interior temp been comfortable. 4.5 stars! The bill for the two of us, no alcohol, was right at $140.00. with tip were out the door at approx. $170.00. Thanks to the staff for making this experience great! Ramona, Katie, and the guy walking around that made sure we were good! They made a great team! I would totally recommend the Sow's Ear in Cambria. This place is everything you would expect and you will not be disappointed. Don't miss out on this place! Worth every penny. That is all!
