All anyone talks about is the mango chicken, so I had to get it. And they were right, it's an awesome dish! Really big piece of chicken that's crusted (though not crispy) wrapped with yummy stuffing-like filling and mangoes. The grilled veggies, thin sliced potatoes, and rice that it comes with on the side are also all really fresh and cooked superbly. I've also tried a chicken platter, but the chicken breast was kind of dry. The curry pasta was surprisingly good. Parking is not so much an issue there's a big lot out front and it's in a shopping center off of Westheimer. We started off with the Fatoosh which is a nice light salad-esque dish, with some yummy toasted pita chips and feta cheese. Really great way to start! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma wrap...sooo yummy and flavorful! It sort of tasted Indian to me, maybe it was a certain spice in the sauce mixture, but it was really good and a huge portion....came with a side as well, I ordered the hummus! I took half of the dish home it was pretty filling...the toasted pita chips on the side pair nicely with the hummus! Can't wait to go back and try more dishes...if they can somehow drag me away from getting that Chicken Shawarma Wrap again! read more

A little apprehensive upon arrival because the restaurant is located in a strip mall, but it is across from the Palm Restaurant in the Galleria area. We had dinner early so the restaurant wasn't busy but we were seated promptly and service was excellent. But the food was amazing! I had the Chipotle pasta with shrimp, crab and scallops and it wasn't too spicy but perfectly flavored and hot when it arrived. Wow... what an awesome, yet slightly different mediterranean restaurant!! Let's start with their pita chips and olive oil- I don't think I've ever had such fresh pita chips before! They were crisp, not too salty, and very tempting to fill up on I ordered the mango stuffed chicken - AMAZING!! It was literally a symphony of flavors in my mouth! The savory chicken with the mango butter sauce fit really nice together and it wasn't too sweet or too salty - a perfect balance Ambiance - not too bad, it was a nice restaurant and clean, I liked the dim lighting Staff- very helpful, great at waiting the table, although when I went for dinner with my family it was relatively empty. Very excellent, not a tomato base but something more hearty, thick and for $6.95 per bowl a great choice. I always loved their Mezza salad and Tomato Basil soup, both are just soo tasty. I know it's just soup and salad, but oh no...both are really perfect! I came on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday dinner. The food was great. I am so glad we skipped the appetizers because the entree alone was so filling. I had ordered the stuffed mango chicken and it was phenomenal. It had lotsss of flavors. My friend ordered the spicy chicken sausage pasta and it was also flavorful. Stopped by this place last weekend. This place is a bright spot in the humid, angry driver filled concrete and filthy, never-ending overgrown construction wasteland of depressing hell and blandness that I not so lovingly call Houston. The service was extremely friendly, with waiters being very quick and attentive which was appreciated. The brought some baked or fried and season pita chips to the table when we sat down which were served with olive oil and a dry herb and spice mixture for dipping. Very seasoned and flavorful chips and dip to begin with, and I also ordered the baba ganoush appetizer which was delicious. The eggplant was served room temperature to cool, and had a delicious smoky, and roasty flavor and the pita bread served alongside for dipping was very warm and fresh tasting. I really enjoyed this, and the small was only like $3 and a perfect starter for one or even stretched to two to share. I had the chicken shawarma wrap for the meal and it was also really tasty. The meat was juicy and flavorful and heavily spiced. Maybe a touch more cumin or something kind of rich and smoky than I would have preferred, but still very delicious and the sweet potato fries served with it were equally tasty. Super soft, gooey insides with a firm-ish crispy exterior. I ate the leftovers of my wife's chicken salad sandwich later for dinner too, and that was good as well. Unassuming looking spot in a fairly dull shopping center on Westheimer, but really enjoyable food and pleasant service nonetheless. Truly Delicious!!! The list of appetizers all sound so wonderful--hard to choose!!! We got crusty baked Brie w/delightful sides of walnuts/strawberries, & hummus(small). Both were fabulous--best, most creamy hummus ever!!! Dinner portions are very generous --easy to split, just ask for extra plate (no extra charge). Our entree choice: Grilled fish & Shrimp, with grilled vegetables & escalloped potatoes. The fish is tilapia --not my fav--but was so wonderfully surprising-nice portion, grilled with a delicate smokiness --VERY delicious. This time, I looked at the business details when scouring Yelp and saw waiter service. I had my decision. When I walked up, I knew I was at the right place because Tears for Fears was playing on the speakers inside and out. Mediterranean food and Tears for Fears?! Yes, please! I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered fatoosh and baba ghanoush. But first, some pita chips and oil dip came out. Very good. Then came my salad and spread, with pita. The fatoosh was fresh and tasted great. Sometimes the mint can be too powerful but not in this case. The baba ghanoush was EXCELLENT. It had a smoky, nutty flavor. Nutty because it literally contained nuts. But not at all bland like most places. Well done, y'al. One star deducted for the bathrooms. Wow. I suggest a 30 minute check, or maybe a 15 minute check during peak times. But all in all, a great, quick, lunch spot. I'd come back, for sure. read more

We visited this place for the first time and we glad we did. Frankly, I did not expect that place to be so good and this is written by a very finicky person! We were greeted by a friendly waiter who brought us a wine list and asked what would we like to drink. We opted for two small bottles of sparkling Spanish champagne-type wine, very reasonably priced ($7.50 a bottle) which was very good. The pita chips were served along with olive oil and zattar (a Middle Eastern mixture of dry herbs). They were delicious. A good start, indeed. Since it was around 8 pm on Sunday night, we did not want to stuff ourselves too much. So we made an identical double order - two small cups of Chicken Tortilla Soups and two Pecan Crusted Salmon salads. The soup was delicious, thick, full of flavor and pretty spicy. If you're not into spicy food, you might want to try something else. But since we love spicy food we enjoyed it thoroughly. Next, the salad was brought. It contained a lot of goodies - mixed greens, red onions, sun-dried tomatoes, avocado, roasted pecans and pieces of Parmesan cheese. There were also chunks of perfectly grilled crusted salmon. It is very easy to screw up the salmon by overcooking it, which makes it bland and slimy. But this salmon was done to perfection. Overall, the salad was made of healthy and tasty stuff. We'll definitely will be back as their menu contains many other seemingly good entries definitely worth exploring - from Mango Stuffed Chicken (which was praised by many other members) to interesting pastas and meats (like Pesto Pasta with Chicken Apple Sausage - sounds very yummy). All in all, the place is very good and I wish them every success and to keep their present good level. I give them, without any hesitation, the maximum rating of 5 stars. read more

Delicious food. The falafel appetizer was on point, perfectly fried and a lovely texture inside. The creamy hummus that went with it was amazing as well. Now as for the entrees: I loved the mixed grill which had a combo of the lamb, chicken and steak skewers. Perfectly cooked. Rice was cooked in saffron and butter-yummy. And the garlic sauce that went with it was great! My friends enjoyed their respective meals: my vegan friend ordered the vegetable grill platter and she wasn't disappointed as indicated by the clean plate after. My other friends had the spinach/goatcheese stuffed chicken-huge portion, she couldnt finish it, the sides of sweetpotato and regular potato were deicious she said. Overall a great experience. No need to valet park as there's plenty of parking available as it's a strip mall lot. Service was also very good. Would love to come back and try some of the other things on the menu. read more

I have been going to Cafe Mezza & Grille for a while now. I have tried them for lunch and dinner, but I think I prefer going their for lunch better. It's a Mediterranean/American fusion restaurant with a good amount to choose from. I have had everything from their salads to gyros. Not a big fan of their salad, but everything else I have tried is really nice. The place itself is really big inside and has a lovely atmosphere, and I have never had to wait to be seated! I would highly recommend it for big groups, with or without kids. read more

I've only been here once but I left pretty full and satisfied. Musta' been the thick, soft, and chewy pita bread they serve with their dips - which are all very authenthic. Actually now I remember why I had to unbutton my belt - their mango stuffed chicken. At first, I thought it would just be the sheer size that people rave about. But I was impressed with how well the chicken was cooked - very tender with retained juices, yet full of flavor. It's pretty hefty - and with a lot of cheese as well which kind of glues all the ingredients together. Friendly service, great for groups, and please remember to try their platter o' dips! I love Cafe Mezza- if I lived nearby, this would be my 'spot'. Never had anything here I didn't like. The spinach artichoke dip is amazing, also love their pastas. the menu is a little 'eclectic' but it works- everyone can get what they want. It's a relaxing place where the wait staff doesn't rush you out the door. Right now wine is buy one get one half off, which is terrific for groups. I have to say that Cafe Mezza & Grille is one of the most underrated restaurants in Houston. I don't know what it is, but every time I've gone on Saturday nights, it's only been half full. I just don't understand why. The place is well decorated with a modern feel and has numerous paintings on the wall for sale (none of which are worth even half of the asking price). The service is great, and the food is fantastic. There's a mix of salads, wraps, grilled items, and specials. While some of the dishes are pricey, there's definitely enough food to feed you and take home. You may be hesitant seeing other yelpers calling this place average; they have obviously not tried their Mango Stuffed Chicken. That dish is amazing. Imagine breaded, tender chicken stuffed with vegetables, cheeses, mangos, and other spices coated with a tangy mango sauce served with grilled zucchini and creamy potatoes.
