I went to Salata after a long time as salad is not always my first choice. We decided to take the big bowl and salad. They made a good salad. No complaints. Tomato Soup was not worth the price and my taste palette. Everything was okay tillI saw the lady employee eating right from the serving bowl not once but twice that too without any gloves on. That's one of the most unhygienic and disgusting thing any employee can do to a restaurant. Not going back to this place.

I like this location a lot because it's not crazy busy at lunch! The staff is very attentive and the facility is clean, I would recommend it to the ones looking for a quick but quiet lunch. It's located upstairs, above Panda Express, so just take the stairs!

Had a great experience at this location! The ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous - easily 2 meals for me! Parking is easy as there is a huge parking lot shared with the surrounding restaurants and Costco. Will definitely come back!

How do you say "see you later" in Vegan? "Salata!" I really love this chain. (That's what my gf said when I imprisoned her in the kitchen, close enough to the stove to make food). They have changed the game for me. (Like Tom Brady when he's 28 points down with 3 seconds left or whatever he will similarly do this Sunday). Now I'm able to eat delicious salad (and toss delicious salad) for a fairly cheap price (or free since I got these muscles) and get somewhat full off of it (and I'm not the only one that gets full, hi girls) even though it's not as large (I mean, who is, hi boys) as my beloved Salad Extravaganza down the street, which is close enough to walk to. Speaking of street and walking, hi to my sexy gf too! This is my favorite location of Salata anywhere. Yes, you have to go all the way upstairs - usually in an elevator because your gf only wears stripper heels so stairways are tough - to get to it, but once you are there it is so worth it. I'm talking about the Salata and the Stripper Heels too. Stripper Heels doll says: "I like the salad selection, lots of delicious vegetables. They don't get mad at you for sitting in the section reserved by a random religious cult." It's lovely and comfortable, nice service, with big portions and lots of fresh ingredients. It is one of the best corporate chains you will ever eat at. That goes for Salata in general, but specifically this location. Now I have to go, so I'll Salata Alligator.

A $10 salad with baked tofu.

This joint is on the second story of the Costco strip mall, as far away from Costco as you can get fronting Weslayan and directly above the Panda Express. If you are coming up the disgusting stairs off the Weslayan parking lot entrance then it is on your right so you walk towards Richmond on the second story rather than walking to the left towards West Alabama & the beautiful Pizzeria Solario (that I love) down on the first floor of the complex. This location of the mega chain Salata has it all: extremely surly high school aged salad tossers in the assembly line that look bothered by you simply existing and/or asking for tomatoes; an exterior stairway that is wet at all times and in all weather conditions and smells as if three bums playfully urinated on each other while they were eating spoiled Taco Bell doritos locos tacos; and always has the dregs of baked tofu as if there is only one other half-shark, half-alligator, half-man in the Houston Metro that moseys on in occasionally to take the first most premiere portion of baked tofu every blue moon that always seems to arrive there just before I do so he/she/xe/they gets the good stuff before I get what is left. My suggestions are to invest in soaping and washing down the stairs with your co-tenants, hiring more sage and better help, and treating your next patrons like the truuuu princesses they are to wade through disgusting stair conditions to get to you when they could really easily go back downstairs to Pexpress and get some of that sweet sweet chork action going on in their mouth holes without needing to ascend a sewer of smells in the 90-100+ degree heat. How you affordin' this pricey commercial lease otherwise brah

I love this place. They have a great tea selection. I can pile on ingredients and it's not extra. This helps make the salad filing unlike other places. The place is hard to spot. It's on the second floor on the corner but it doesn't stop it from being constantly busy! The parking is also crazy. It's a constant buzz so watch out when you're backing out. Despite it being so busy there are plenty of tables and the service is fast.

Decided to stop in for lunch since Salata is one my favorite places to eat. I was so happy they built one in Southwest so I pulled over to give it a try. Since my friend has never tried it I swore he would love it. So I wasn't greeted when we walked in which was surprising but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I chose to get the Salata lettuce mix the woman barely put any lettuce in the bowl so when I requested more she looked at we with disgust and added four pieces of lettuce. I counted it was only four. My rule is be nice they are making your food so I remained courteous. Then every thing I added she added light toppings and I had to ask for more. At this point her service made me not want to return to this location. The next employee was ok not cheerful so it was safe to assume this just isn't a happy team. Overall the location is great, service wasn't good, the quality was of the salad wasn't what I experienced but location was clean. I'm not sure if I'd return to this location. I felt like I wasted $20 cause it wasn't what I expected.

White bean soup with worms
Frances B.

Salata has always been my favorite spot for lunch. Today I felt a little cold so went there and order an small salad and a "white bean" soup. Surprisingly my soup came with a peculiar ingredient .. worms! I'll never come back to this place. If you promote fresh food then serve fresh food! I hope I don't feel sick later today or tomorrow if not, we are going to have a serious conversation.

I ordered the Tejano Cesar Zepplin and added double chicken, pickled onions and halved tomatoes with a side of tomato, basil soup and it was all so good. I've never had a zeppelin until before now and it's the best way to describe it is that it's the cross between a sandwich and a salad. What it is exactly is a loaf of bread with the inside taken out so that it's like more of a shell and then it is a salad bowl like mixture stuffed in there. There were a lot of other items on the menu that sounded fantastic. The food quality was great and the staff was kind. Honestly, this feels like a place that will probably make its way into our monthly rotation. My only small critique is that it's a little on the pricey side. Around $21 each for a bowl is a bit high for a casual Saturday lunch for me. (But with that said, still excited to come back!).

Parking can be tight depending on the time/day. This location feels like it has more indoor seating and a better patio than The Heights which is more exposed to the outdoor elements off the trails. I couldn't remember if I'd been here before until old photos I posted showed. I'm used to The Heights location which is closer to me. It's been about 5 years when I first moved to the loop that I went here with a friend. I had the OG Brussels sprouts which were my favorite when they still had Benjy's in Rice Village. It was a staple for 25 years. They closed in 2020 to expand Local Foods. Pretty bummed because Benjy's was great and had an amazing pecan-crusted goat cheese appetizer with pita. It had more of a cocktail lounge vibe that my friends and I would frequent back in grad school for HH. They had another location off Washington, but that is also closed and is now Forget Me Not. Anyways, the Brussels sprouts were amazing, and I always loved them. I'm glad that Local Foods occasionally features it as a special. I usually gravitate towards the crunchy chicken sandwich. The pretzel bun is everything, and the filling is loaded. If you have a bit allergy, this is not for you. It has pecans in them. I like the added potato chips, too. This time I tried the tacos de camote which was a sweet potato taco. I couldn't find any photos of it on this Yelp page, but I've had sweet potato tacos before in Scottsdale and was hooked. I didn't expect two large wedges on sweet potato lodged in a taco shell. It was delicious and carmelized. You could hear the crunchy outside texture. Loved that. What I didn't love was the difficulty of eating it. The wedges were huge, and the sweet potato was too hot and steamy. It would've been better had they been diced. The pumpkin seed mixture was good but too spicy with the jalapeños. I like spicy food but didn't expect that. The tacos needed salsa or crema to cut through the heat. I picked off the jalapeños and fork and knifed the sweet potato after a few bites with the taco shell. The taco itself is a blue nixtamilized corn tortilla. It held up the taco filling fairly well considering the huge wedge of sweet potato. It also dripped the oil off the sweet potato. I couldn't taste much of the refried beans. I liked these tacos, but it was a little too spicy and didn't have the acid it needed to make it better. I ate the sweet potatoes and nixed the tortillas. As for the sides, I usually get the kale salad because theirs doesn't taste like dirt. Lol. They add enough lemon, pine nuts, golden raisins and Parmesan cheese to make it taste better. I could eat a bowl of that. It's always served in a tiny container. I also get their homemade potato chips. It's dusted with Old Bay seasoning. It can be oily at times, though. This time, I tried a seasonal side of strawberries that was recommended by the guy at the register. It was delicious. The strawberries were soaked in a slightly sweet simple syrup with chopped basil. They have a variety of lemonades, tea, fountain drinks, cocktails and refrigerated beverages to choose from. Lemonade can be too sweet, so I dilute it with ice and water. I like that it's open with the cups and plastic to-go cups if that's your preference. I've always enjoyed what Local Foods offers and like that they offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Service is friendly, and it's a nice, casual place to dine in or on the patio.

Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
