Located in Reston, Mezeh offers a splendid variety of build-your-own-meals options, featuring generously portioned bowls, Pita Pockets and Flat Bread Wraps out of which, I eat nothing else, but the bowl. Why? Because I am a greedy foodie and that extra dollar satisfies my hunger. With a huge quantity, there is also an abundance of options swinging from those leafy greens to healthy proteins, from caramelized vegetables to their pickled neighbours, from thick and flavoured hummus varieties to the lighter Tzatzikis, and plentiful of other salads and dips. And you know what the good part is - there is no threshold to the number of savories you want your bowl to be decorated with - yay! But, while having a splendid layout is definitely exciting, it can overwhelm the first timers to choose and create a bowl that has the complementing combination of salads and dips that twirls up the mediterranean flavours. So, to introduce you to this mediterranean grill, I will share my all-time favourite bowl which always takes me on the journey along the sun-kissed mediterranean coast. Here it goes - I call it - Spring in a Bowl. A bed of mixed greens gravelled with nutritious brown rice is topped with the colorful Turkish Salad, fresh green Lebanese Tabbouleh, Lemon-Mint Carrots and tangy Chickpea Salad. I then like to spike this bowl up with Black Olives, Pickled Onions and Turnips (my palette is accustomed to more zesty flavours but you can cut down on a few pickled-lemon options), and finally top it up with the delectable Caramelized Eggplants. I know it sounds a little odd for an ingredient to gel with the others in a bowl, but trust me, this one is worth a shot. It has a peculiar flavour that stands out and renders that extra burst of flavor to the taste buds. Now the quintessential delightful mediterranean dips. My constants in this segment are the Spicy Hummus, creamy and a bit hot, Baba Ganoush and a lot hotter, Harissa. If you prefer milder flavours, go for Tzatziki and Cilantro Hummus instead. I have tried Tahini but it did not bolster the flavours of my bowl, so I would not recommend that one. Oh! Before I forget, the meat of the bowl (literally) - I love their Chicken Shawarma, although the Chicken Kabobs too, are not bad at all. For vegetarians, Falafel is a go-to and is absolutely lip-smacking. A word of caution though - the falafels are quite hot so you might want to dial down a little on the dips This bowl is my favorite and I can iteratively dig into it every week, for my lunch. Fodder for my brain and a stimulant for my taste-buds, this mediterranean bowl from Mezeh has become a no-brainer for me. *If you are looking for some place for its vibe and ambience, this is not that place. Decided to give this place a try instead of CAVA for a change and it has really replaced CAVA for us. So so many toppings, interesting options, good fluffy pita. I tend to get a falafel bowl and then for delivery you can add something like 16 toppings and even with that many it is hard to choose. Very reasonable price for a dip on the side. It tastes fresh and flavorful and somewhat healthy. We will be coming here whenever we want Mediterranean from now on. read more

The service line was very efficient with very kind staff to serve. There are similar establishments like this but this one has a lot more variety of toppings and is all fresh and made in house! I placed a delivery order with Mezeh for a 20 person business meeting. We wanted something other than pizza or sandwiches so this seemed like a great option. The online ordering system was extremely easy to use (a company separate from Mezeh). I selected an 11:15AM delivery time but the food arrived at 10:25AM which was a bit frustrating (DoorDash was the delivery company). We ended up only having 17 people show up for the meeting so we should have had more than enough food. However, we BARELY had enough for everyone, and no one piled their bowl so it wasn't due to "greediness". As soon as I saw the quantity of food delivered I knew it looked like weren't going to have enough. As a result I put VERY little on my plate to make sure others had food. When you pay almost $350 for a lunch order you certainly expect for it to feed the group. The food was decent. The falafel balls were overcooked and hard. The chicken was tasty. I was visiting my son in Reston, and after a day out he suggested we go to Mezeh for dinner. I had never been there and was less than enthusiastic about having to choose all the components of my meal. The woman next to me eased my fears by telling me I just had to point to things. The women working behind the counter couldn't have been more patient and charming as I asked them about each food item. The meal was so delicious that my only regret is that I don't live in Virginia. I think I would eat here every night. You know the food is healthy and at least in my case I know it would be too much trouble to ever make such a meal by myself. This time I just wanted Mediterranean to go, so just picked it based on distance and pure rating. Though I didn't expect a make your own bowl kind of restaurant when I went. I liked it after the initial shock with the selections. The small bowl looks to be decent portion for under $6. The only thing was limit of 4 toppings. I like the fact that the toppings are well labeled and has some ethnic selections to try, like Israeli couscous, Lebanese Tabbouleh, etc. I decided to splurge, so I opted for the large bowl, which was $9.50, with unlimited toppings from their 15-20 options. Got the Bulgar Pilof as base, protein with 1/2 chicken & 1/2 Shredded Lamb($1 extra). I would prefer the Basmati white rice as base after eating the Pilof, just my preference.
