Timing was on point and I've never had a bad meal here. Generous portions and good food.

I really wanted to love this place -- kabob spots have such potential, and the menu looked promising. Unfortunately, my visit fell short in the most important department: the meat. Both the chicken and beef kabobs had an off-putting flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on -- not quite spoiled, but distinctly unpleasant. My best guess is either a marinade issue or the meat not being fresh enough before it hit the grill. On top of that, the texture was tougher than it should be; a good kabob should be tender and juicy, and these were neither. The chickpeas also had a weird after taste that I've never tasted before. Rice was extremely dry like they didn't put enough water. I wish they woulda gave me more sauce because that barely saved the meal. As it stands, I won't be returning. This place has become a complete disaster from top to bottom. The food had no flavor, the meat was so tough it was actually hard to chew, and at one point my dentures came off because of how rubbery it was. And somehow, despite the meat being that tough, the rest of the food was soggy, like it had been sitting in a steam bath all day -- even though they claimed it was freshly made. How do you ruin a meal this badly? It honestly takes effort to mess up something that should've been simple. The ambience didn't help either. The whole place felt dull, chaotic, and completely uninviting -- more like a waiting room where everyone was silently regretting their life choices than a restaurant. My order was 15 minutes late, even though they told me it would be ready in 15. And when it finally showed up, the sauce container wasn't even closed. It exploded all over everything, soaking the entire meal and turning it into a sloppy, dripping mess that no one could possibly eat. While I was waiting, another customer literally walked out because the service was so slow. Honestly, I should've followed her out the door. The staff seemed new, but that didn't help anything. They might know the menu, but there was zero friendliness, zero urgency, zero care. Between the bland food, the tough meat, the soggy sides, the delays, the mess, the terrible ambience, and the complete lack of customer service, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. They claim on Google that they're a 5‑star restaurant -- what a major failure. Nothing about this place even comes close to 5 stars. I won't be coming back -- ever. read more

Everything from the overall seasoning, cooking methods, portions, freshness ... it is possibly the BEST food I've had since living in Reston and it's just a very small humble establishment that needs more publicity! I had the mixed kabob platter with the salmon kabob and chicken kabob and BAAAABBBYYY that salmon was EVERYTHING! So were the side of chickpeas that it came with .... Oh and the FRESH PITA BREAD .... like I need to know who is in the back cooking because I want to kiss them! The portions are also MASSIVE and I immediately asked for a to go box because I knew there was no way I could finish the food, so, I literally had 2 meals for the price of 1 which makes the pricing worth it. Grill kabob has locations in alot of mall food courts here in nova but this location stands out from the rest because its a brick and mortar location which has seating available and the food and extra items available here is just better above the rest. They have a stocked fridge of drinks including jarritos and mango lassi (weird right? Since they have afghan food but they do offer a mix of desi/middle eastern snacks like samosas and hummus. We always go for their chicken kabob and beef kobeedah platter which is enough to share amongst two people. It comes with two kinds of rice (white and seasoned), salad, side of your choice and freshly baked afghan bread. Their white sauce is crack and a must when eating with. I tried their mango lassi this time and it was pretty good. This is a clean location with friendly quick service and that's why this location is my fave amongst the other mall grill kabobs. read more

4 generations of my family. We don't agree on much but we all can concur that Grill Kabob is a staple. It is so comforting, always has so much flavor, and never has disappointed among countless orders. Doesn't matter whether it's through UberEats or in person, they have flawlessly scored each and everytime. If I could only have one restaurant for the rest of my life, it would be this Grill Kabob. When I waited for 15 mins for a number 1 she brings a chicken told her and she just stares like she did not understand the Arab I think the owner gave me my cash since I pay with cash. Our go to spot for week night dinner when I just need carbs and can't deal with the world lol. I'll be honest, I care more about their chickpeas side and the delicious white and brown rice with that crack filled yogurt sauce, than I do for the chicken. Ragz loves their chicken though, so it's a win win. Anyways, we try to pick up food when we can ( and the service is friendly and quick) but for the most part we door dash it. Their chicken kababs are really good - perfectly cooked and the right amount of char. The chicken kobideh is also very flavorful and silky smooth. I love their chick pea side that comes with most plates, it's very creamy and delicious. The best part is the rice ( both brown and white). I sometimes shudder when I think about the amount of butter or ghee that likely went into the dish, but oh well - the heart wants what it wants, right?! The white yogurt sauce that comes with it never disappoints, but I'm also convinced its full of crack lol. Overall, I love this spot and will continue to order from them. I love grilled kabob reston, and the flavors are unmatched. It's unfortunate that my most 2 recent to go orders were incorrect. I included a pic of the first order where I ordered combo chicken and received beef. I don't eat beef, and I live 40 mins away, so I couldn't return it to have the order corrected. Last evening, I placed the exact same order (sorry photo not included). I thought to open the bag and check to make sure the order was correct, but I gave the team the benefit of the doubt and thought that last time was just a mistake. In last evening's combo order, there were only 4 pieces of the grilled chicken. In all the years I've ordered from Grill Kabob, the order is a full skewer of about 7-8 pieces of grilled chicken. I'm not sure if this is a new reduced portion or if again it was a mistake??!!. I love the food there, and I plan on ordering again in the future, but for now on I'm opening the boxes to make sure my order is correct before leaving the store. read more

Came here for first time for lunch and it was good and different. The atmosphere is a little rustic while the menu is wide and has many selections. We got #3 beef kabob and #14 beef kabob sandwich. They were good but the beef needs to be cut bite size as they were too large and hard to eat. The homemade naan was very good but the wait for the dishes to be prepared was way too long. This literally is the best kabob place around this area, their food is fresh, flavorful, and executed perfectly every time. I highly recommend going with the Kobeeda beef (ground beef), it's flavor city USA!!! Also, the team at Grill Kabob responded to my "issue" last time in a professional way addressing the issue. Based on the food, in my opinion the rating should between 4 and 5 stars. Looking at the other reviews it seems like the staffs attitude was poor and that affected peoples ratings. This place is the greatest, I can't recommend it enough! I've been a long time customer and I swear it only got better over the years. The service is fast and friendly. The sauces are unreal I honestly can't believe it. The meat is so tender and juicy, never dry. I usually get the beef kobeeda and chicken combo and that is more than enough for 2 meals since it comes with the salad, huge bread, chickpea curry, and a ton of delicious rice. With portion size and all of the sides included, I absolutely think this is a great deal even though it may seem like a high price tag. This is the best food i've ever had. First of all, i'm a big sauce person and they have self serve bottles of white and green sauce at every table and both are soo flavorful. The chicken itself is juicy and flavorful on its own but the sauce makes it even better. The rice is seasoned so well and the naan is freshly made with the perfect amount of crunch. The customer service is excellent and the lady taking my order brought out the food to my table. When she forgot to replace the side salad with a side of chickpeas one time, i simply had to ask and she without a doubt gave me a side of chickpeas with no extra charge for her mistake. The food is is life changing. I see the world at a different light after eating this delicious food. This food will take you into another dimension I am serious. I don't know why there is so many one star reviews as the food is good, customer service is kind, and overall the price for the food is reasonable considering i always end up with half my plate to take home for leftovers so 2 meals for the price of one! The food here is generally tasty and more of a four star, however the service is usually slow even with no other customers present. The lamb shanks are about half the size of similar restaurants so that particularly meal combination is a two star for its size in relation to price. Regular kabob type meals have a good size portion and are in the four star territory. Restaurant also seems to be trying to cut the electric bill by running the AC around 80 degrees so. It's not comfortable to eat inside during a hot day. Good place if you're not in a hurry and would really be a four star except for the specific tiny lamb shank meal and slowness. read more

I have ordered from here a few times now and it is DELICIOUS! The seasoning they have on the salmon takes out the fishy flavor and leaves it beautifully balanced. I also am a sauce girl and I love all the sauces it comes with, and the salad and the rice are so fresh and great, too! They are so friendly and helpful, and I've never had a place offer to give me extra chickpeas because I can't have the bread it comes with, that stands out to a gluten intolerant person a lot, as we normally pay more for accommodations and certainly never get offered something in substitution even though to me that is the right thing to do! Awesome new addition to plaza America! I've been here a few times since the opening and they have really great catering deals too. Our team catered from them and they were very accommodating and reasonably priced for chicken kabobs. I've had their chicken and lamb kabobs with the rice, salad and chick peas. It also comes with a huge naan on the side. The food is plentiful and will definitely put you in a food coma so beware if this is for lunch. The taste is flavorful and delicious which is why it's packed during office hours. I would recommend the chicken over the lamb and get the side sauces for more flavor. Craved some kabobs and flatbread so decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was clean, and they also had outdoor seating which is always a preference for us during the pandemic. I ordered a combo with chicken kebobs and lamb with flatbread and two types of rice. Loved the mint chutney/sauce and the other white sauce with the meat. The kabob was done very nicely, they were juicy and well-flavored. I did wish it were a little spicier or at least had that option.
