We had lunch at Mezeh at the Bowie, Maryland location today. It has been a few years since I have been to a Mezeh restaurant. It was a great experience. The food was delicious. The server gave us large food portions. The workers were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were clean. The restaurant has a fun and trendy ambiance. Lots of parking but due to the way the shopping area is designed you may have to walk a little bit to get to the parking. I downloaded the Mezeh smart phone app while I waiting in line to place my food order and I got $5 off by downloading the app. I will be back for sure! read more

Visited here for the first time as I was looking for healthier fare and was quite surprised. I got there shortly after they opened and as a first time visitor, had a few questions. Although it was empty, the girl seemed nice and let me taste the falafel. It's wasn't hot unfortunately, and wasn't too dry but wasn't as moist as I hoped. I used the falafel bowl base to create my own and added some extra veggies. They do provide complimentary water which is nice. It was empty when I was there and the vibe of staff seemed a little off to me- like they didn't really want to help when I had a questions or had trouble with the water dispenser even though they weren't busy. Parking in the town center is free but it can be difficult to find parking close by as there isn't any directly in front of the restaurant. I found their behavior to be rude and unprofessional, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The situation escalated to the point where I felt it was necessary to contact the police. A recent experience at the Bowie, Maryland location has left a bad taste in my mouth for the Mezeh establishment. Firstly I want to point out that I'm an avid patron of Mezeh at the Bowie location and eat there at least once a month sometimes once or twice in one week. Upon arrival we were told that they were out of the regular hexagon shaped bowls and they only had a rectangle bowl that was smaller in appearance to the regular size build your own bowl. They were also out of power greens. I chose to continue to build my bowl but after my base: mixed greens rice and steak and about two or three toppings, a man walked in with the boxes that had the bowls on a dolly. I asked if those are the bowls can I have mine in a regular bowl? The employees immediately got annoyed and impatient and told me like that I'm wasting food and I'm going to get them trouble and that bowls were the same sized bowl. At this point, I'm getting annoyed because I'm hungry and you're out of products and now you're trying to argue with me, the customer, about wasting food when I had no issue with using the same food and just pour it in the other bowl. I started to record the whole incident with my phone pointed down not putting anyone's face on the camera because I wanted it on record that I could pull up because I already made up my mind to leave a review on Google and yelp. I asked to speak to the manager I was told they had no manager I asked to speak to the franchise owner and they got on the phone and started to speak in Spanish. I said multiple time they they had no right to be upset with me as the customer for their last of products and they young man told me you think you can come in here and just control things because you're the customer no you can't. Really bizarre and truly terrible behavior. I then left and drove 30 mins down the road to the Gambrills location where everything was in stock and the employees had better attitudes. read more

My byo-bowl was quite delicious, though really considering the experience, taste, and price compared to the competition (Chipotle & Cava) I would say they didn't quite impress me. They offer ample variety, with very unique flavors, and combinations- however ordering via the app it wasn't very user friendly to balance my bowl. They didn't offer the option via app or online ordering to do 1/2 portions or 'on the side' I opted for mixed green bowl, with added on extra cost shredded lamb, maxed out my ten topping choices with a variety of veggies, and 2 sauces. They got my sauces wrong, they gave me hearty portion of meat, but skimped on balancing the ingredients- and overloaded with the sauces Everything was well seasoned, moist, juicy delicious- but overall small toppings portions. I was charged an extra dollar for roasted vegetables which to me makes no sense. Being on a 21 days Daniel plan, I found Mezeh to provide more options than any other quick meals. Located in Bowie Town Center, parking can be hit or miss related to where Mezeh is located. I think I have a love/I can't stand you relationship with this location. I have been here at various times and they haven't had things ready. My though is if you know you're running low on something to begin preparing it rather than waiting for the consumer to ask for it. When they have everything, Mezeh is my jam from the bulgar to the eggplant (yaaasss!) to everything in between. Mezeh definitely is a place I can get behind. While I have never been to a Mezeh before, I love going to build your own bowl Mediterranean eateries. I liked the options that they have, I wish the lamb wasn't only available as shredded and the falafel is drier than I would like but I still thought everything tasted amazing. I loved all the sauces they have available and how flavorful everything was. I can see how their is service issues here, when I came to pick up my food there was only 1 person working the front and a line of at least 15 people. If I didn't order online, I would have left. Although I love the food at Mezeh, I had avoided this location due to poor service and subpar food. Today I met a friend for lunch there and noticed improvement. The customer service was much better and the food, although better, still pales in comparison to other locations. I had a bowl with a spinach base, chicken shawarma, Turkish salad, eggplant, couscous, tomatoes, cucumbers and a few other things. Harissa sauce topped it. The chicken shawarma lacked flavor and this is a key component to bowl. It's advertised as spicy but is not-- seems like the recipe is not being followed. The harissa sauce was very thin and lacked flavor- like it was watered down. Overall restaurant was clean and offered ample seating. Well lit and comfortable. 3 1/2 stars. Stopped by Mezeh in the food court at the Westfield Annapolis Mall. Mezeh is a chain in the MD, VA, NC area that serves Mediterranean bowls, wraps, and pita pockets. Pick you base (greens, rice, kale, grains, etc.). Then pick your protein. The proteins have a Mediterranean flavor and include chicken and steak shawarma, lamb kefta, and falafel. Then pick 8 toppings. There are about 30 toppings that include different types of hummus, salads, and vegetables. Finally, pick your sauce. I ordered a combination of greens with the grain of the day as my base with falafel as my protein. Toppings included two types of hummus, turnips, baba ganoij, eggplant, Turkish Salad. I saw the falafel was not made to order but I had it anyway and it was just okay. I have had much better. The hummus was good Eight toppings sound like a lot but they are small portions. I was not impressed the staff. I had some questions regarding how to order and the person taking care of me was very impatient. I like having this as a healthier choice in the mall, but I hope the staff can be a little friendlier in the future. read more

Mezeh reminds me of the Mediterranean version of Chipotle, just healthier. I go to their competition, Roti, near my job, but I must say, I enjoy Mezeh waaaaay better! Geez! I wish Mezeh was near my job. (Insert sad face emoji) Just a side note. Mezeh makes all of their food in-house from scratch and all of it is fresh, bold, and natural. Prior to going to a Yelp Elite Event, I had never heard of Mezeh, but I'm glad I attended. I was able to try the food and hear all about the franchise. I recently stopped by on my own and the food was just as delicious that day, as it was at the event a few months ago. The concept is you come in and walk down a line and tell the employee behind the counter what you would like. You can build your meal any way you would like. You first choose either a bowl, flat bread wrap, or pita pocket. Then choose a base, a protein, and then add as many of the toppings as your heart desires and finally choose a few of the sauces. My advice to you is to try something different, like the cilantro hummus...I tried it and loved it! In my humble opinion, the bowl is your best bet. You can get a huge variety and it comes with a warm piece of pita bread. Cookies and Baklava are offered for dessert and don't forget their fresh/innovative soft drinks. All and all, this is a great healthy alternative if you're out and about and want something to eat and want it to be filling but not unhealthy. The food is really delicious and fresh. My husband and I tried mezeh for the first time and it did not disappoint. We waited about 10 or so minutes for fresh spicy lamb kefte. You can order a bowl, wrap or pita pocket. Get the bowl! As you make your way down the prep line, you choose your greens, your rice then your protein (you can even do half and half to have two proteins). After that you add the toppings. YOU CAN ADD WHATEVER YOU WANT, including sauces. We learned that you can mix all the flavors and it'll still be freaking delicious. The bowls come with pita, btw. The bowl was so filling that I saved half for lunch the following day. Don't forget house drinks! If you want to mix it up, get one. Try them all while you're there. I usually get the spicy lamb, but I don't eat red meat often so I selected a kale bowl with roasted veggies kale bowl shawarma delight. I mixed the two chicken options and I added all the veggie options. My favorite part of creating my bowl is selecting the sauces! That wasn't the fault of the staff; people weren't used to how to order and were taking a long time to ask "What's that red stuff? What's that grain stuff?" etc. So hopefully as soon as people get acquainted with Mediterranean ingredients like pickled onions and falafal and bulgur the ordering process won't be so looong. Good value for the price ($9.25 for a bowl, $8.50 flat bread wrap, $7.50 pita pocket, $5 kids bowl), especially considering that you're eating something so nutritious. I was walked through the steps on how to build my bowl and everyone was at a safe distance apart when going through the line with their masks on. My bowl consisted of rice, veggie balls, cucumbers, tomatoes, crisp bread strips, corn, sauce and topped with cheese. At first when I looked at the bowl of the lady behind me I thought I was getting less food than her and we both had bowls but she had more salad than I did which took up more space than mine. When I walked up to the counter, I asked for a bowl to go. At this point, I was totally winging it. I got a little bit of Kale because I'm not a fan of the other lettuces for my bowl. Then I got a split of white and brown rice. Just wanted to know which tasted better. However, brown rice is the better option. I get the chicken kabob meat hold the tomatoes. We moved on to the toppings . I get the Turkish salad, 2 scoops of cilantro hummus, 1 scoop of regular hummus, feta cheese, red cabbage and sometimes pickled onions. For the sauces, I do the mild ones. I think I got the tahini and tzasiki sauces on the bowl and not to the side. I tried the harissa sauce but it wasn't my flavoring. She packaged it up and it comes up to $10.34. Sometimes I'll get the kiddie one for work the next day. I sat down with my bowl, super hungry, needing to chow down quickly. First bite... amazing! I went to the Mezah location in Gambrills and order a wonderful bowl off the printed menu. It was a great combination. Today, I decided to go the Bowie location because I craved what I had before. Imagine my disappointment that this location does not have a menu that offers lifestyle bowl options. I had to recreate to the best of my ability, the lifestyle bowl I had. I am SO happy to have Mezeh close to home! I was supposed to eat in the city before heading home, but I ended up leaving without food and visiting a friend in Bowie instead. It was kind of late, so my first thought was the food court in Bowie Town Center... NOPE! It was completely dark, but then I looked across the street and realized that Mezeh was finally open. My heart jumped for joy! Given the time, it was most definitely not crowded in there. This location is nice and clean, and there is plenty of room to sit and eat if you so choose. I went up to begin preparing my bowl and the experience was no less enjoyable than it usually is. I'm really excited that this place has been added to BTC. I'd been to other locations before and enjoyed my food. This location is modern and beautiful on the inside, it look like a hipster fancy restaurant. I was very pleased with the interior decorum. The staff were pleasant and I felt well attended to. Mezeh has something for everyone, from the vegetarian to the ketorian. The toppings are unlimited which can make for a very flavorful and filling meal. I got a salad bowl with kale and falafel. Unfortunately the falafel was dry and the kale was also dry and a bit difficult to chew. The various veggies and sauces I added to the meal, made it a bit more palatable. Despite this experience, I will still recommend Mezeh, perhaps the meat options ore more flavorful. read more

First time trying Mezeh, I would say it is most comparable to Cava, and only then to Chipotle as in "you get a bowl and add toppings". Compared to Cava, love love love that the toppings are not limited. You get the one pita on the side with the bowl, can mix greens with rice, and add one protein as in types of shawarma and others. The Mezeh falafel- at least the one I got- is superior to Cava's, but I still love me some Yafa Grill falafels in DC. Everything but the drinks were quite tasty, it might have been that the mixtures weren't right with their herbal lemonades on that particular day. We had an Elite Yelp event here and I enjoyed very minute of it. The owner was awesome and was SUPER friendly!! It was pretty easy to choose from and the names on each item is listed in the glass for you to see. I enjoyed my bowl so much and I am so glad we came here!! Everything was free, but I sure will spread the word! The owner spoke with us about how he started out and how the locations are opening rapidly! Great business you can't go wrong with food on the go!! The drinks are even made at their location. I had the papaya mixed with the watermelon. It was delicious!
