    garlic naan

I recently visited this restaurant for a Yelp event and now I'm back again because the food was that good. I couldn't remember which days they have lamb specials & was hoping I stopped by on the right day, but I didn't. FYI, the lamb specials are on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Since lamb wasn't an option, I ordered chicken kabob platter with a few substitutions. Instead of white rice I had qabuli pulao; it's rice with carrots & raisins. Those items may seem like an odd couple, but somehow it works & I'm a fan. Instead of salad, I had curry chickpeas. I don't pass up an opportunity to have curry chickpeas, and these were delicious. I could just eat the rice and the chickpeas as a meal itself if I wanted a meatless option. Instead of the regular naan bread, I opted for the garlic naan bread. When I got my order and saw how large it was, I thought this must be a mistake. This piece of bread was easily enough for four people. Slathered on top was this garlic herb butter. You can't go wrong with warm bread and garlic butter. Next time I'm asking for a side of butter so that I can dip the bread in it as well. You can never have too much butter. I washed everything down with a cup complementary chai. I think it's really sweet of them to offer a drink while you wait for your order. I would've gladly paid for that too. I've recently discovered this place, but it's definitely going in the rotation. I can't wait to try some other items on the menu.

Initially, we were a little skeptical because the place is new but As soon as we walked in ADAM greeted us with a huge smile~! Good sign Tips 1) nice portion sizes 2) the Kabobs are excellent 3) lunch specials daily 4) I suggest you try them before the word gets out I think we found a new spot in this Greenbelt food desert~ish.

Love Maiwand Kabob! When I saw a fellow yelper check in here, I immediately added it to my list. They're located in the East Gate shopping center in Greenbelt near Sobe and recently opened. I stopped in for a take-out order a few days ago. A nice employee greeted me and took the order. He offered complimentary chai tea! It was pretty empty at the time. There's plenty of seating and parking. I had the chicken kabob with a side salad. The food portions were generous but I didn't enjoy the salad - was bland and it had a weird tasting dressing. Everything else tasted good. I had to get the green sauce of course. I would possibly visit here again but not in a hurry!

Food here is great and has friendly service. Hope they expand into dc. I got the kofta kabob it was delicious and tender it came with a large piece of bread, salad, and rice. The rice is well seasoned and has dates in that add some sweetness to cut the savoryness. The kabob was well seasoned and tender. It had a great mix of savory and fresh flavors Id definitely be back again. I love afghan food.

I finally got a chance to stop by to pick up dinner after coming a few months ago for a Yelp event. I placed my order online and it was ready a few minutes after I arrived which meant it was hot and fresh!!!! I ordered the lamb combo with rice spinach and curry potatoes and a side of beef. It was still hot when I got home to sit and eat.

Now I've seen this place multiple times when going to Columbia, Hanover, and other spots closer to Baltimore. This past Sunday I just happened to be in that particular shopping center because I was in the Giant looking for the exclusive Oreos. And from a distance it's a blur, but I was like that name looks familiar! When I got closer, I realized I was right, and I was like "ooooh!" I went on inside and there was only one other party in there. I had eaten not long ago so I wasn't really hungry, but I wanted to try something. I was going to go for some appetizers, but the specific ones I wanted weren't available -- they've barely been open a week. I ended up deciding on the veggie platter and it was really... really good. I will say that the potatoes weren't quite as flavorful as they looked, but otherwise I enjoyed every element of that meal immensely. I have to return and try some proper kabobs and I cannot wait! The interior of the restaurant has plenty of seating, so ordering to-go isn't necessary.

The restaurant was very clean and when I stopped in late on a Saturday evening, there was ample seating for dine in. Since they're located in a shopping center, there's plenty of parking available. The owner was nice, they had paper menus right at the register to assist with choosing what to order. He also made sure to confirm that what I ordered was what I planned, so I appreciated him double checking. I ordered the chicken sheesh kabob entree. I also ordered the spinach appetizer which was a great size for the price. The kabob entree came with aromatic rice, salad, naan, and a cilantro yogurt sauce. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and seasoned well. The entree was a great portion for the price. I'll definitely be back to try other items off the menu. I've heard a lot of positive things about this local chain, so I'm happy they decided to plant roots in this area too.

Write up lamb and wilted salad. People have the nerve to sell anything nowadays.

I used to work near Miawand Kebab in Elkridge, and the food there was always exceptional. Unfortunately, this location on Greenbelt Road was a completely different experience. I accidentally ordered a gyro platter instead of the gyro wrap--not a big deal, or so I thought. The meat was chopped into tiny pieces and completely dried out, which to me suggests it wasn't fresh. The rice was just okay, with a strong cinnamon flavor. The side salad wasn't very good either. I just moved to the neighborhood, but based on this visit, I won't be returning.

I first visited Maiwand Kabob for a Yelp event, and had to come back for dinner. The hummus and bread was SO GOOD! I was expecting a little pita, but the pitas they gave were huge! My meal was the chicken kabob, which was delicious and well seasoned. I also had a good customer service experience when I called to place the order and arrived to pick it up. Parking was easy as it's in a large plaza.

It looks like there used to be a coffee shop and a salad place, or something like that, so just be aware that the kitchen space may change up. We ordered 2 Kati Rolls (paneer and lamb kofta) from Krazi Kebob. We did Chappli Kabob, a Kabob Roll, and the Lamb Chop platter from The Kabob Joint. And we did the Thai tea and Chai tea from the boba shop. For the Kabob Joint: The Kabob roll was a real winner and the Chappli Kabob in the spicy green sauce was super. I wish the edges would have been a little crispier, but very good. We haven't had the Lamb Chop yet but there's a ton of food in their platters. For the Krazi Kabob, the paneer roll wasn't super spicy but was very tasty and I'd definitely get it again. The lamb was good too but I preferred the paneer. Highly recommend ordering in advance or with delivery; there isn't anywhere to sit and eat of course, and everything is made to order, so expect about a 20 minute wait if you walk in and order from the kiosk inside. Overall, great food and a cool business model for the area. In addition to the above, I'd probably get the Masala Fries next time and would consider the samosa chaat as a deconstructed samosa bowl.

I spent every summer in this town, growing up, and I never discovered this restaurant until a precious friend brought me here a few years ago. It's a dated, though efficient, and charming, cafe with fresh dishes you might love. Firstly, if you plan on having lunch here on a Monday, make sure you are able to finish by 2:45 since they close by 3pm. All other days, they are open past 8pm. We started with the sweet potato soup despite the fact that the reviews for the lentil soup here are the highest. Yes! If it's featured: get it! The turmeric and coconut milk make this soup delightful. The herbs made it so fresh and there was just the right amount of sweetness and gentle heat. Parsley really adds to this recipe and I'm not usually a fan of this herb. The pitas are soft, thin and light. Love them. We needed to order more. I've never had such paper-thin pitas. Yum! I love love love the hummus, here. It is nothing short of divine. The flavors are fabulous and deeply complex. You can really taste the tahini. The olive oil is mild and delicious. I exclaimed, "the hummus was the best ever." And then 5 minutes later, I read a review by Yelper James H. where he says it's the best ever and, "... this hummus at Cedars of Lebanon might have ruined all other hummus for me forever." While I've had similar swooning feelings over the hummus at Lebanese Taverna in Tyson's Corner, this hummus is at least a top contender if not the metro DC area's hummus winner. The cucumber mint yogurt salad is nice, cold and refreshing. You can really taste the mint. I would order this yogurt salad with every meal. The falafel pizza is unusual and fresh. Straight away-- you can taste the tahini, parsley and couscous. The dough is grainy and natural. And there are radishes on this falafel pizza: not overpowering. For the $9 or so pricepoint, this dish is a true labor of love. To prep all of these vegetables, even with food processors, must take time. How novel of a dish! Put the yogurt salad on this pizza. You will thank me. And I only did it because I was watching someone else slather it on. There were at least 12 desserts on the menu. Meow. If we weren't so full of pita, hummus, tahini and fresh veggies, we certainly would love to taste a few of these. As well as the Turkish coffee, with an authentic ceramic and metal carafé presentation.

The restaurant has a small outdoor dining area with three four-seater tables, which was find for our two dogs. The experience overall was pretty low key, which necessarily is not a bad thing. Although there is waiter/waitress service, you will have to order your food at the cashier's counter. Actually, maybe that's only a thing if you are dining outside. The menu has a nice mix of Middle Eastern dishes. I went with a beef (or maybe it was lamb) kabob plate. The portions were fine and my meal was pretty good. It was not out of this world amazing, but it got the job done. I thought that the prices were pretty good for the area and the amount of food received. Although the food was fine, I do not think that I would go out of my way (e.g., driving more than 30 minutes) to dine here. Just be aware that the restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages.

Not a huge issue, just a bit fast-paced right out the gate. I ordered the 8 oz New York strip with a sweet potato and green beans. The steak was cooked perfectly i asked for medium and it was flavorful. The sweet potato was good, but there was a bit too much brown sugar for my taste. The green beans were fresh with a nice hint of bacon, which I really enjoyed. My friend got the smothered chicken with just gravy and cheese (no peppers, onions, or mushrooms) and a side of loaded mashed potatoes, which she really liked--they were fully loaded and satisfying. She also got a side of corn, which she didn't enjoy as much because it tasted a little frozen. Her blue crushed drink was also very sweet--heavy on the syrup and not diluted enough with water. That said, the overall experience was still great. We love the atmosphere, the music, and the energy of the place. Other than feeling a bit rushed at the beginning, everything else hit the mark.
